ABSTRACT
Sheng-hai-long (SHL) is a traditional Chinese medicine consisting of Syngnathus,Hippocampus,Cornu Cervi Pantotrichum,Radix Ginseng,Herba Cistanchis, Radix Angelicae, Fructus Lycii , and ten odd herbal drugs. In an attempt to explore its antifatigue action, the maximal aerobic capability (MC..) and maximal anaerobic capability (MCn) were measured in 40 mid-long distance runners (age 16. 7+1. 9 y;body weight 64+5 kg) before and after 1 month of intensive training. They were randomly divided into two groups; 20 received orally SHL 3 g ?kg"1 daily, while the other 20 did not. The results showed that the MC, in 1 -min all-out test,MC,and maximal lactic acid production from a maximal graded load test were all increased much more in SHL group than those in the control group ( P
