ABSTRACT

Objective:

to study depression, anxiety and self-concept of middle school students.

Method:

Self-description Questionnaire, CES-D and Revised Children's Manifest Anxiety Scale were used to assess 500 middle school students of Nanchong, Sichuan province.

Result:

the total score of self-concept was negatively correlated with anxiety and depression. Factors predicting anxiety and depression included general self-concept, general expressive self-concept, parenthood self-concept and peer relation self-concept.

Conclusion:

anxiety and depression of middle school students are associated with their self-concept.
