ABSTRACT
Currently, there are more than 60, 000 practicing hospitalists in the United States. This represents a steady and slight exponential growth over the past 25 years. No specialty has grown as fast and has had a greater impact on the delivery of healthcare than hospital medicine. Certainly, the COVID-19 pandemic has given the hospitalist a time to shine. During the COVID-19 pandemic, the specialty demonstrated its value by its flexibility and adaptability. One trend remains constant in this time of uncertainty - hospitalist have undisputed value.
