ABSTRACT

BACKGROUND: Climacteric is associated with both depression and metabolic dysregulation. Scarce evidence suggests that metabolic dysregulation may predict poor response to conventional antidepressants. Response to depression treatment has not been studied in homeopathic medicine. The aim of this study was to investigate the prevalence of metabolic disorders in depressed climacteric women treated with homeopathic medicines, fluoxetine or placebo, and if these alterations have any association with response to depression treatment. METHODS: One hundred and thirty-three Mexican women (40-65 years) with depression, enrolled in the HOMDEP-MENOP study, a randomized, placebo-controlled, double-blind, double-dummy, three-arm trial with a 6 week follow-up, underwent a complete medical history and clinical examination. Metabolic parameters were assessed at baseline. Association between baseline metabolic parameters and response to depression treatment was analyzed with bivariate analysis in the three groups. Odds ratios (OR) with their 95% confidence interval (95% CI) were calculated. Metabolic parameters were considered for inclusion in the logistic regression model if they had a statistically significant relationship with response rate on bivariate analysis at p<0.05 or if they were clinically relevant. RESULTS: Overall combined prevalence (obesity and overweight) was 86.5%; 52.3% had hypertriglyceridemia; 44.7% hypercholesterolemia; 46.7% insulin resistance; and 16% subclinical hypothyroidism. There was no statistically significant association between dyslipidemia, overweight, or insulin resistance and non-response in the homeopathy group [OR (95% CI) 1.57 (0.46-5.32), p=0.467; 0.37 (0.003-1.11), p=0.059; 0.67 (0.16-2.7), p=0.579, respectively]. CONCLUSION: Metabolic dysregulation was not significantly associated with response to depression treatment in depressed climacteric women treated with individualized homeopathic treatment (IHT), fluoxetine or placebo. Due to the high prevalence of metabolic disorders and its relationship with depression in the climacteric, further investigation should be focused on whether individualized prescriptions based on classical homeopathy for depressed climacteric women have an effect on metabolic parameters, and/or if treating the metabolic disorders at the same time could lead to higher response rates. ABSTRACT

The metabolic disorder known as diabetes mellitus (DM) has several different causes, distinguished by recurring hyperglycemia due to inadequate insulin secretion, insulin action, or both. T-lymphocytes target such cells for destruction, which include beta cells. Transplants of the pancreas, islets of Langerhans, and individual beta cells are all effective treatments for DM. Additionally, treating DM using stem cells is popular currently. The basis of stem cell therapy for DM is the replacement of beta cells, or dead pancreatic cells, with stem cells. After attaching to the tissues of the pancreas, the stem cells differentiate into active cells. An X-ray scanner is used to place a catheter into the pancreatic artery in DM, and the process lasts 90 minutes. The use of stem cells to replace dead pancreatic beta cells forms the cornerstone of stem cell treatment for DM. Transplants of the pancreas, islets of Langerhans, and individual beta cells are all effective treatments for insulin-dependent DM. In contrast to prior studies, where we only used low potencies of nosodes and organopreparations, our research used both high and low potencies of these substances. Choosing the strength of the nosode stomach cancer in the computer-connected device selector so that it will resonate with the nosode that is tested in the patient's device is the doctor's responsibility when using the bioresonance therapy method. The initial nosode, which is in the computer programme of the device for bioresonance therapy, is no longer tested when the stomach cancer nosode is tested in a patient along with the chosen potency of this nosode. The initial nosode in the bioresonance therapy device itself is still being studied in case the chosen nosode's potency is inadequate (the frequency of oscillations of the nosode is lower than the frequency of oscillations of the tumour).

ABSTRACT

Vitamin C (ascorbic acid) has long been known to have antioxidant properties, with associated claims that it can boost the immune system, fight off infection, and help in the treatment of cancer. Similar to many other over-the-counter and herbal medicines, vitamin C can cause potential side effects with significant morbidity and rarely mortality. We discuss a case of an elderly woman with metastatic adenocarcinoma of the lung that was treated with several rounds of allopathic chemotherapy; however, treatment was stopped because of worsening quality of life and disease progression. She was treated with 10 courses of intravenous high-dose vitamin C at a local homeopathic medical center as an alternative treatment method. Five days after the last vitamin C administration, she was admitted to an allopathic hospital due to acute renal failure and oliguria culminating in a myocardial infarct due to underlying atherosclerotic disease. Workup revealed dehydration secondary to poor oral intake and acute renal failure which was clinically concerning for calcium oxalate- induced kidney injury. At the time of autopsy, in addition to her widely metastatic adenocarcinoma and myocardial damage, hyperoxalosis of the kidney with acute kidney injury was present. Hyperoxalosis of the kidney is a documented phenomenon related to administration of intravenous and oral vitamin C at superphysiologic doses as recommended by some natural and homeopathic practitioners and is, therefore, a significant complication of treatment. This case highlights the renal complications of supertherapeutic vitamin C administration and the associated morbidity which can contribute to death.

ABSTRACT

Coma is the state of unrousable unconsciousness. There are variations in the degree of coma and the findings and signs found on the patient's clinical examination depend on the underlying cause of the disorder. The Glasgow Coma scale evaluates the best motor, verbal and eye answers of the patient. A patient is considered to be in a coma if his Glasgow Coma Scale is below 8 points. The progress that we have made throughout the years has also led to complications that can culminate in a major catastrophe like death, permanent brain damage, coma. A study performed reached the conclusion that prior comorbidity, older age, intraoperative hypotension, and cardiovascular surgery may predispose patients to postoperative coma. The article presents a case of postoperative coma treated successfully with homeopathy. Although a rare complication, postoperative coma is a severe, death-leading condition, causing immense suffering on both the patient and the patient's family. A multidisciplinary and thorough approach is necessary for these patients, but even after a well-conducted therapy, this condition leads to the death of the patient.

ABSTRACT

Since the initiation of vaccine rollout, breakthrough COVID-19 infections have been reported. While conventional therapy is the accepted mode of treatment, there has been little recognition of the role played by the alternative therapies like homeopathy. The purposes of this study were to identify the clinico-symptomatic profile of the vaccine breakthrough covid-19 infections and to assess the response of individualized homoeopathic treatment in these breakthrough cases. A retrospective data analysis of patients treated with homoeopathic medicines who confirmed the breakthrough infection criteria: positive infection ≥14 days after completion of both the recommended doses of an authorized COVID-19 vaccine was conducted. IBM SPSS Statistics 21.0 was used for data analysis with a p-value below 0.05 defined as significant. WHO Clinical Progression Scale and Outcome in Relation to Impact on Daily Living score were used as outcome measures. In total 73 cases were reported to be vaccine breakthrough infections. The median recovery time reported in the data set was 9 ± 2 days. While 5 patients dropped out, 68 (93.15%) patients responded positively to homeopathic treatment, and 55 (75.34%) recovered completely with normalized serological markers/ nasal swabs/ HRCT Chest. About 29 (39.72%) of these presented with mild clinical manifestations, 26 (35.61%) moderate, 17 (23.28%) severe and 1 (1.36%) was critical. 10 homeopathic remedies were prescribed to these 73 patients. Majority of the patients attained an ORIDL score of 4. Maximum patients reported a WHO clinical Progression score of 3. Statistical analysis showed a significant response to homeopathic treatment in the study group. Vaccine breakthrough cases occur in a fraction of vaccinated people. Despite the limited number of study subjects, homoeopathy showed some promising results in the present setup. The response rate was highest in the moderate and severe cases which suggest the importance of consideration of alternative medicine in the current pandemic. Further exploratory research studies and comparative clinical trials may be encouraged.

ABSTRACT

(AU)

ABSTRACT

Food allergies are very common conditions amongst pediatric complaints, and cow's milk protein allergy (CMPA) is the most common kind in childhood. Despite its prevalence, there are controversies in the literature about diagnosis and conventional treatments. Homeopathy offers a valuable option for approaching these pathologies, since it acts according to the characteristic symptomatic totality of each case, that is, in an individualized way. This report is about a child, male, with a previous diagnosis of CMPA, with frequent respiratory crises and recurrent use of antibiotics, in addition to being submitted to a restricted diet. His mother looked for homeopathic treatment as an alternative to current therapy, since the results obtained so far were unsatisfactory. The case was conducted according to the precepts of classical Hahnemannian homeopathy, obtaining a single medicine according to the repertorization method. We opted for treatment with Lycopodium clavatum, considered the most similar according to the individuality of the patient. The child was followed up for a little over a year, and significant clinical improvement of the initial complaint was observed, in addition to better quality of life for the child and family.
