RESUMEN

MicroRNAs (miRNAs) are small noncoding RNAs in eukaryotes. Plant endogenous miRNAs play pivotal roles in regulating plant development and defense responses. MicroRNA394 (miR394) has been reported to regulate plant development, abiotic stresses and defense responses. Previous reports showed that miR394 responded to P. infestans inoculation in potato, indicating that miR394 may be involved in defense responses. In this study, we further investigated its role in potato defense against P. infestans. Stable expression of miR394 in tobacco and potato enhances the susceptibility to P. infestans, which is accompanied with the reduced accumulation of ROS and down-regulation of the PTI (pattern-triggered immunity) marker genes. Besides well-known target StLCR, miR394 also targets StA/N-INVE, which encodes a chloroplast Alkaline/Neutral Invertases (A/N-INVE). Both StLCR and StA/N-INVE positively regulate late blight resistance, while miR394 degrades them. Interestingly, StA/N-INVE is located in the chloroplast, indicating that miR394 may manipulate chloroplast immunity. Degradation of StA/N-INVE may affect the chloroplast function and hence lead to the compromised ROS (reactive oxygen species) burst and reduced retrograde signaling from the chloroplast to the nucleus and cytoplasm. In summary, this study provides new information that miR394 targets and degrades StA/N-INVE and StLCR, which are positive regulators, to enhance potato susceptibility to P. infestans.

Fungi with multiple contaminant removal function have rarely been studied. Here, a novel fungal strain Fusarium keratoplasticum FSP1, which was isolated from halophilic granular sludge, is reported for first time to perform simultaneous nitrogen and phosphate removal. The strain showed wide adaptability under C/N ratios of 30-35, salinities of 0 %-3 % (m/v), and pH of 7.5-9.5. The maximum removal rates of ammonium, nitrate and nitrite were 4.43, 4.01 and 2.97 mg N/L/h. The nitrogen balance, enzyme activity and substrate conversion experiments demonstrated a single strain FSP1 can assimilate inorganic nitrogen and convert inorganic nitrogen to gaseous nitrogen through heterotrophic nitrification or aerobic denitrification. About 39 %-42 % of the degraded phosphorus was in the extracellular polymeric substances (EPS). Orthophosphate was the main phosphorus species in the cell, whereas phosphate monoester and diester were in the EPS. The novel strain FSP1 is a potential candidate for wastewater treatment.

Rheumatoid arthritis has a significant impact on the life quality, but current pharmacological therapies have limitations. As a result, there is growing interest in exploring the potential of natural plant components to intervene in the development of rheumatoid arthritis. Resveratrol, a natural polyphenol and one of the main active components of the Chinese herbal medicine Polygonum cuspidatum, has emerged as a promising candidate for this purpose. In the present study, we investigated the role and mechanism of resveratrol in inhibiting inflammatory response in rat primary fibroblast-like synoviocytes. Tumor necrosis factor (TNF)-α was used to establish a model of inflammation, the Sirtuin1 selective inhibitor Selisistat (EX527) was used to inhibit Sirtuin1 activity, and small interfering RNA was used to silence cortistatin expression. The results showed that pre-treatment with resveratrol could time- and dose-dependently inhibit TNF-α induced cellular interleukin (IL)-1ß and IL-6 secretion, and upregulate Sirtuin1 and cortistatin mRNA and protein expression in the range of 48 h, 100 µM. Selisistat (EX527) could attenuate resveratrol inhibited inflammatory response and upregulated cortistatin expression. Silencing cortistatin expression attenuated the effect of resveratrol on inhibiting inflammatory response, but did not affect its effect on upregulating Sirtuin1 expression. In conclusion, resveratrol effectively inhibited the TNF-α induced inflammatory response in fibroblast-like synoviocytes by a mechanism involving the Sirtuin1/cortistatin pathway.

This study explored the prescription and medication rules of traditional Chinese medicine(TCM) in the prevention and treatment of diabetic microangiopathy based on literature mining. Relevant literature on TCM against diabetic microangiopathy was searched and prescriptions were collected. Microsoft Excel 2021 software was used to establish a prescription database, and an analysis was conducted on the frequency, properties, flavors, meridian tropism, and efficacy classifications of drugs. Association rule analysis, cluster analysis, and factor analysis were performed using SPSS Modeler 18.0 and SPSS Statistics 26.0 software. The characteristic active components and mechanisms of action of medium-high frequency drugs in the analysis of medication rules were explored through li-terature mining. A total of 1 327 prescriptions were included in this study, involving 411 drugs, with a total frequency reaching 19 154 times. The top five high-frequency drugs were Astragali Radix, Angelicae Sinensis Radix, Poria, Salviae Miltiorrhizae Radix et Rhizoma, and Rehmanniae Radix. The cold and warm drugs were used in combination. Drugs were mainly sweet, followed by bitter and pungent, and acted on the liver meridian. The majority of drugs were effective in tonifying deficiency, clearing heat, activating blood, and resolving stasis. Association rule analysis identified the highly supported drug pair of Astragali Radix-Angelicae Sinensis Radix and the highly confident drug combination of Poria-Alismatis Rhizoma-Corni Fructus. The strongest correlation was found among Astragali Radix, Angelicae Sinensis Radix, Poria, and Salviae Miltiorrhizae Radix et Rhizoma through the complex network analysis. Cluster analysis identified nine categories of drug combinations, while factor analysis identified 16 common factors. The analysis of active components in high-frequency drugs for the treatment of diabetic microangiopathy revealed that these effective components mainly exerted their effects by inhibiting oxidative stress and suppressing inflammatory reactions. The study found that the pathogenesis of diabetic microangiopathy was primarily characterized by deficiency in origin, with a combination of deficiency and excess. Deficiency was manifested as Qi deficiency and blood deficiency, while excess as phlegm-heat and blood stasis. The key organ involved in the pathological changes was the liver. The treatment mainly focused on supplementing Qi and nourishing blood, supplemented by clearing heat, coo-ling blood, activating blood, and dredging collaterals. Commonly used formulas included Danggui Buxue Decoction, Liuwei Dihuang Pills, Erzhi Pills, and Buyang Huanwu Decoction. The mechanisms of action of high-frequency drugs in the treatment of diabetic microangiopathy were often related to the inhibition of oxidative stress and suppression of inflammatory reactions. These findings can provide references for the clinical treatment of diabetic microangiopathy and the development of targeted drugs.

The unprecedented global increase in the anthropogenic-derived nitrogen (N) input may have profound effects on phosphorus (P) dynamics and may potentially lead to enhanced eutrophication as demonstrated in short-term mesocosm experiments. However, the role of N-influenced P release is less well studied in large-scale ecosystems. To gain more insight into ecosystem effects, we conducted a five-year large-scale experiment in ten ponds (700-1000 m2 each) with two types of sediments and five targeted total N concentrations (TN) by adding NH4Cl fertilizer (0.5, 1, 5, 10, and 25 mg N L-1). The results showed that: (ⅰ) The sediment P release increased significantly when TN exceeded 10-25 mg N L-1. (ⅱ) The most pronounced sediment P release increase occurred in summer and from sediments rich in organic matter (OMSed). (ⅲ) TN, algal biomass, fish biomass, non-algal turbidity, sediment pH, and OMSed were the dominant factors explaining the sediment P release, as suggested by piecewise structural equation modeling. We propose several mechanisms that may have stimulated P release, i.e. high ammonium input causes a stoichiometric N:P imbalance and induce alkaline phosphatase production and dissolved P uptake by phytoplankton, leading to enhanced inorganic P diffusion gradient between sediment and water; higher pelagic fish production induced by the higher phytoplankton production may have led increased sediment P resuspension through disturbance; low oxygen level in the upper sediment caused by nitrification and organic decomposition of the settled phytoplankton and, finally, long-term N application-induced sediment acidification as a net effect of ammonium hydrolysis, nitrification, denitrification; The mechanisms revealed by this study shed new light on the complex processes underlying the N-stimulated sediment P release, with implications also for the strategies used for restoring eutrophicated lakes.

Recent studies have demonstrated that the antitumor immunity of immune cells can be modulated by gut microbiota and their metabolites. However, the underlying mechanisms remain unclear. Here, we showed that the serum butyric acid level is positively correlated with the expression of programmed cell death-1 (PD-1) on circulating CD8+ and Vγ9 Vδ2 (Vδ2+) T cells in patients with non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). Responder NSCLC patients exhibited higher levels of serum acetic acid, propionic acid, and butyric acid than non-responders. Depletion of the gut microbiota reduces butyrate levels in both feces and serum in tumor-bearing mice. Mechanistically, butyrate increased histone 3 lysine 27 acetylation (H3K27ac) at the promoter region of Pdcd1 and Cd28 in human CD8+ T cells, thereby promoting the expression of PD-1/CD28 and enhancing the efficacy of anti-PD-1 therapy. Butyrate supplementation promotes the expression of antitumor cytokines in cytotoxic CD8+ T cells by modulating the T-cell receptor (TCR) signaling pathway. Collectively, our findings reveal that the metabolite butyrate of the gut microbiota facilitates the efficacy of anti-PD-1 immunotherapy by modulating TCR signaling of cytotoxic CD8 T cells, and is a highly promising therapeutic biomarker for enhancing antitumor immunity.

Cancer recurrence and metastasis are two major challenges in the current clinical therapy. In this work, a novel diketopyrrolopyrrole-based photothermal reagent (DCN) with unique J-aggregation-induced redshift is synthesized to achieve efficient tumor thermal ablation under safe power (0.33 W cm-2 ). Meanwhile, S-nitroso-N-acetylpenicillamine (SNAP) is co-loaded with near-infrared-absorbing DCN in amphiphilic polymers to realize heat-induced massive release of nitric oxide (NO), which can form oxidant peroxynitrite (ONOO- ) to active matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs), thereby degrading the compact tumor extracellular matrix to improve the ablation depth and infiltration of immune cells. Through a facile supramolecular assembly method, the DCN/SNAP nanoparticles are anchored to liquid-nitrogen-frozen cancer cells, achieving enhanced antitumor immune responses and effective inhibition of distant tumors and pulmonary metastases after only one treatment. The safety and effectiveness of this supramolecular cell-conjugation platform are verified by 2D/3D cellular experiments and bilateral tumor model, confirming the thermal-ablation-gas-permeation-antigen-presentation therapeutic mode has promising anticancer prospects.

Aim: To observe the effects of acupuncture manipulations on blood pressure and brain function in spontaneously hypertensive rats and elucidate the anti-hypertensive effect of the manipulations' central mechanism. Methods: This study used acupuncture twirling reinforcing, acupuncture twirling reducing, and acupuncture twirling uniform reinforcing-reducing manipulations to act on the bilateral TaiChong point of rats. The depth of acupuncture was 1.5-2 mm, and twisting was performed at a frequency of 60 times/min within ±360° for 3 min, followed by the needle being retained for 17 min. Functional magnetic resonance imaging was performed at the end of the intervention. Regional homogeneity and amplitude of low-frequency fluctuations were used to assess the differences in brain regions in each group of rats, and the core brain region (left hypothalamus) among the differential brain regions was selected as the seed for functional connectivity analysis. Results: (1) The anti-hypertensive effect was achieved by acupuncture manipulations, and the anti-hypertensive effect of twirling reducing manipulation on spontaneously hypertensive rats was better than that of twirling uniform reinforcing-reducing and twirling reinforcing manipulations. (2) After regional homogeneity and amplitude of low-frequency fluctuations analyses, the hypothalamus, the brain region related to blood pressure, was activated in the twirling uniform reinforcing-reducing manipulation group; the corpus callosum and cerebellum were activated in the twirling reinforcing manipulation group; and the hypothalamus, olfactory bulb, corpus callosum, brainstem, globus pallidum, and striatum were activated in the twirling reducing manipulation group. (3) According to the functional connectivity analysis, different acupuncture manipulations increased the functional connections between seed points and the brainstem, olfactory bulb, and cerebellum, etc. Conclusion: These results suggest that acupuncture manipulations achieved the hypotensive effect and the twirling reducing manipulation had a better hypotensive effect on spontaneously hypertensive rats than twirling uniform reinforcing-reducing and twirling reinforcing manipulations; the central mechanism of the anti-hypertensive effect of twirling reinforcing and reducing manipulation may be related to the activation of brain regions associated with blood pressure regulation and the functional connections between them. Furthermore, brain regions involved in motor control, cognition, and hearing were also activated. We hypothesize that activation of these brain regions may help prevent or mitigate the onset and progression of hypertensive brain damage.

Rhizoma Paridis is a traditional Chinese medicine commonly used for treatment of malignant tumors. Paris saponins Ⅶ (PSⅦ) is one of the components of Rhizoma Paridis, but the role of PSⅦ in glucose metabolism in ovarian cancer remains elucidated. A series of experiments in the current study demonstrated that PSⅦ inhibites glycolysis and promotes cell apoptosis in ovarian cancer cells. Expression levels of glycolysis-related proteins and apoptosis-related proteins were significantly altered by upon treatment with PSⅦ, as determined from western blot analyses. Mechanistically, PSⅦ exerted its anti-tumor effects by targeting the RORC/ACK1 signaling pathway. These findings indicate that PSⅦ inhibits glycolysis-induced cell proliferation and apoptosis through the RORC/ACK1 pathway, supporting its potential development as a candidate chemotherapeutic agent for ovarian cancer.

To meet the demand for novel pest management strategies to combat the development of insecticide resistance, plant essential oils may be a promising alternative source. This study investigated the insecticidal activity of five essential oils from the Rutaceae plant family against Thrips flavus Schrank (Thysanoptera: Thripidae) under laboratory conditions. The plant essential oils were citrus oil (Citrus reticulata Blanco), Chuan-shan pepper oil (Zanthoxylum piasezkii Maxim.), zanthoxylum oil (Zanthoxylum bungeanum Maxim.), pomelo peel oil (Citrus maxima (Burm.) Merr.) and orange leaf oil (Citrus sinensis (L.) Osbeck). Among the essential oils evaluated, orange leaf oil (LC50 = 0.26 g/L), zanthoxylum oil (LC50 = 0.27 g/L), and pomelo peel oil (LC50 = 0.44 g/L) resulted in a higher gastric toxicity under laboratory conditions. The results of the pot experiment also showed that orange leaf oil (93.06 ± 3.67% at 540.00 g a.i.·hm-2, 97.22 ± 1.39% at 720 g a.i.·hm-2, 100.00% at 900.00 g a.i.·hm-2) zanthoxylum oil (98.73 ± 1.27% at 900 g a.i.·hm-2), and pomelo peel oil (100.00% at 900 g a.i.·hm-2) exhibited a higher control efficacy, being the most effective against T. flavus after 7 days of treatment. The essential oil components were then identified by gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS). The insecticidal activity of orange leaf oil, pomelo peel oil, and zanthoxylum oil could be attributed to their main constituents, such as methyl jasmonate (50.92%), D-limonene (76.96%), and linalool (52.32%), respectively. In the olfactory test, adult T. flavus were attracted by zanthoxylum oil and Chuan-shan pepper oil. We speculated that linalool might be the key signaling compound that attracts T. flavus. These results showed that orange leaf oil, zanthoxylum oil, and pomelo peel oil exhibited insecticidal activities under controlled conditions. They can be implemented as effective and low-toxicity botanical insecticides and synergistic agents against T. flavus.

BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVE: Considering that physicians and patients widely use acupuncture, it is necessary to explore its adverse effects during treatment. Herein, an evidence map was generated based on published studies to identify acupuncture-induced adverse effects and assess their severity, with the overarching goal of providing references for safe and effective implementation. METHODS: A comprehensive literature search was performed in four public databases (PubMed, Embase, Web of science, and the Cochrane Library) to identify relevant studies published up to 15th June 2022. In addition, relevant studies were explored in the Epistemonikos database and reference lists were retrieved as a supplement. A MeaSurement Tool to Assess systematic Reviews, Version 2 (AMSTAR-2) quality assessment tool was applied to determine the methodological quality of included systematic reviews (SRs) and/or meta-analysis (MAs), whereas Microsoft Excel 2019 tool was used for data extraction and coding. Heatmaps were generated to display disease type, countries of origin for the first authors, and the sample sizes of original studies. Moreover, bubble charts comprehensively presented intervention categories, adverse reaction types, and evidence levels. RESULTS: A total of 535 SRs involving 33 adverse reactions were included. Among them, 22 studies were rated as high quality, 28 as moderate, 106 as low, and the rest were of critically-low quality. Numerous adverse effects were described in the studies, including syncope (86 SRs), organ or tissue injury (233 SRs), systemic reactions (113 SRs), infection (19 SRs), and other adverse events (373 SRs). Importantly, these adverse reactions were mainly associated with 19 acupuncture techniques, including electroacupuncture (n = 67), manual acupuncture (n = 47) and acupoint catgut embedding (n = 41). Furthermore, the 535 SRs described 23 diseases, among which symptoms, signs or clinical findings (83 SRs), mental, behavioral or neurodevelopmental disorders (67 SRs), and diseases of the nervous system (66 SRs) had the highest incidence. CONCLUSION: This evidence mapping explores the adverse effects of acupuncture, showing that there are multiple types of adverse reactions to acupuncture, with milder symptoms. The methodological assessment revealed that most of the included studies were of low- or critically low-quality. Therefore, there is a need for future randomized controlled trials and SRs to comprehensively analyze acupuncture-related adverse events in order to provide reliable and credible evidence.

Introduction: Chronic hypertension may have a contributory role toward cognitive impairment. Acupuncture exerts protective effects on cognitive functions while controlling the blood pressure. However, the neural mechanism underlying the dual attenuating effect of acupuncture remains unclear. In this study, we investigated the effects of electroacupuncture (EA) and manual acupuncture (MA) on the functional activity of the brain regions of spontaneously hypertensive rats (SHRs) by through resting-state functional magnetic resonance imaging (rs-fMRI). We also evaluated the differences in these functional activities between the EA and MA groups. Methods: We randomly assigned 30 SHRs into the EA, MA, and model (SHR) groups. Wistar Kyoto rats (n = 10) were used as normal control (WKY). The interventions were administered once every alternate day for 12 weeks. The systolic blood pressure of all rats was recorded every 2 weeks until the end of the intervention. After the intervention, rs-fMRI scanning was performed to access the whole brain data of rats randomly selected from each group evenly. The amplitude of low frequency fluctuation (ALFF) analysis, regional homogeneity (ReHo) analysis, and functional connectivity (FC) analysis were also conducted. The Morris water maze (MWM) test was conducted to evaluate the learning and memory of the rats. Hematoxylin-eosin staining and Nissl staining were performed to observe histopathological changes in the key brain regions. Results: We demonstrated that, when compared with the SHR group, the EA and MA groups had significantly lower blood pressure and better performance for behavioral test indices, and that the effect of EA was better than that of MA. ALFF and ReHo analyses revealed enhancement of the neuronal activity of some functionally impaired brain areas in the EA and MA groups. The main callback brain regions included the hypothalamus, entorhinal cortex, brain stem, prelimbic cortex, cingulate cortex, corpus callosum, and cerebellum. The FC analysis demonstrated that EA and MA enhanced the functional connectivity between the seeds and brain regions such as the brain stem, entorhinal cortex, hippocampus, prelimbic cortex, and cerebellum. The pathological test of the entorhinal cortex also verified the protective effect of acupuncture on the neuronal functional activity. Discussion: Our findings suggested that EA and MA exhibited attenuating effects on hypertension and cognitive dysfunction by enhancing the functional activities in the corresponding brain regions. Moreover, EA activated more callback brain regions and functional connectivity than MA, which may explain why the effect of EA was better than that of MA.

Smilax china L. is an important herb used in traditional Chinese medicine. In this study, the mechanism of Smilax china L. polyphenols (SCP) on insulin resistance and anti-obesity in mice induced by a high-fat diet (HFD) was investigated. Fifty female mice were randomly divided into five groups: control, HFD and low, medium, and high doses of SCP for 70 d. SCP significantly decreased intraperitoneal adipose tissue index, body weight gain, liver lipids, and serum inflammatory factor levels. Blood glucose and insulin concentrations, as well as insulin resistance index in SCP, were significantly lower than those in HFD. In addition, SCP markedly up-regulated the gene expression of glucose transporter 4 (GLUT4), insulin receptor substrate 1 (IRS1), insulin receptor substrate 2 (IRS2), serine-threonine kinase (AKT), Acyl-CoA oxidase (ACO), and protein kinase A (PKA), and down-regulated the expression of mammalian target of rapamycin complex 1 (mTORC1), sterol-responsive element-binding protein-1c (SREBP1c), fatty acid synthase (FAS), 3-hydroxy-3-methyl glutaryl coenzyme A reductase (HMGCR), and forkhead box protein O1 (FOXO1). SCP significantly increased the protein expression of AKT, GLUT4, AMP-activated protein kinase (AMPK), phosphorylated-AMPK (p-AMPK), phosphorylated-AKT (p-AKT), and uncoupling protein 1 (UCP-1), and decreased the expression of SREBP1c, FAS, HMGCR, phosphorylation of IKBα (p-IKBα), and nuclear factor kappa B subunit p65 (P65) in the liver. Overall, SCP effectively reduced HFD-induced insulin resistance and obesity in mice, partly through NF-κB and IRS/AKT-AMPK signaling pathways to regulate inflammatory factors. Therefore, SCP may improve lifestyle diseases.

Objective.Motor Imagery Brain-Computer Interface (MI-BCI) is an active Brain-Computer Interface (BCI) paradigm focusing on the identification of motor intention, which is one of the most important non-invasive BCI paradigms. In MI-BCI studies, deep learning-based methods (especially lightweight networks) have attracted more attention in recent years, but the decoding performance still needs further improving.Approach.To solve this problem, we designed a filter bank structure with sinc-convolutional layers for spatio-temporal feature extraction of MI-electroencephalography in four motor rhythms. The Channel Self-Attention method was introduced for feature selection based on both global and local information, so as to build a model called Filter Bank Sinc-convolutional Network with Channel Self-Attention for high performance MI-decoding. Also, we proposed a data augmentation method based on multivariate empirical mode decomposition to improve the generalization capability of the model.Main results.We performed an intra-subject evaluation experiment on unseen data of three open MI datasets. The proposed method achieved mean accuracy of 78.20% (4-class scenario) on BCI Competition IV IIa, 87.34% (2-class scenario) on BCI Competition IV IIb, and 72.03% (2-class scenario) on Open Brain Machine Interface (OpenBMI) dataset, which are significantly higher than those of compared deep learning-based methods by at least 3.05% (p= 0.0469), 3.18% (p= 0.0371), and 2.27% (p= 0.0024) respectively.Significance.This work provides a new option for deep learning-based MI decoding, which can be employed for building BCI systems for motor rehabilitation.

AIM: This meta-analysis aimed to systematically evaluate the effectiveness of auricular acupressure on pain management during labor. METHODS: Six English and three Chinese electronic databases were comprehensively searched from inception to 6 November 2021. The PRISMA checklist was followed. The methodological quality of the included studies was assessed with the Cochrane Collaboration Bias Risk Assessment Tool. The meta-analysis was performed using Review Manager 5.3 software. Heterogeneity between studies was calculated using I2 . RESULTS: Five studies comprising 312 participants were included. The labor pain scores of the auricular acupressure group were significantly lower than those of the usual care group at cervix dilations of 6, 8, and 10 cm, with mean differences (95% confidence intervals) of -1.05 (-1.41, -0.69), -1.44 (-2.07, -0.82), and -1.96 (-3.30, -0.61), respectively. Auricular acupressure can thus effectively improve the labor pain perception at cervix dilations of 6, 8, and 10 cm. Moreover, auricular acupressure shortened the active phase, and had the trend of shortening the second and third stages of labor. There was no evidence that auricular acupressure had an effect on the rate of cesarean section or the 1 and 5 min Apgar scores. CONCLUSION: Effective labor pain relief, better labor pain perception, and the lack of adverse effects support the use of auricular acupressure. More high-quality and rigorous trials are needed to verify our findings before we can make strong recommendations.

Methotrexate (MTX) is a folic acid antagonist, the mechanism of action is to inhibit DNA synthesis, repair and cell proliferation by decreasing the activities of several folate-dependent enzymes. It is widely used as a chemotherapy drug for children and adults with malignant tumors. High-dose methotrexate (HD-MTX) is an effective treatment for extramedullary infiltration and systemic consolidation in children with acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL). However, significant toxicity results in most patients treated with HD-MTX, which limits its use. HD-MTX-induced toxicity is heterogeneous, and this heterogeneity may be related to gene polymorphisms in related enzymes of the MTX intracellular metabolic pathway. To gain a deeper understanding of the differences in toxicity induced by HD-MTX in individuals, the present review examines the correlation between HD-MTX-induced toxicity and the gene polymorphisms of related enzymes in the MTX metabolic pathway in ALL. In this review, we conclude that only the association of SLCO1B1 and ARID5B gene polymorphisms with plasma levels of MTX and MTX-related toxicity is clearly described. These results suggest that SLCO1B1 and ARID5B gene polymorphisms should be evaluated before HD-MTX treatment. In addition, considering factors such as age and race, the other exact predictor of MTX induced toxicity in ALL needs to be further determined.

To ascertain the effects of Taraxacum mongolicum flavonoids (TMF) on the growth performance, digestive enzyme activity, immune indices, inflammatory response and antioxidant capacity of Channa argus, 400 C. argus with an average body weight of (8.08 ± 0.21) g were selected and divided randomly into four groups. They were fed with four experimental diets supplemented with TMF of 0 (control), 25, 50 and 100 mg/kg for 56 d, and then challenged with lipopolysaccharide (LPS) for 96 h, afterwards indices were detected. The results manifested that the addition of TMF above 50 mg/kg in the dietary could significantly improve the final body weight, WGR, SGR and PER of C. argus, while decreased FCR (P < 0.05). Similarly, the 50 mg/kg group had the highest activity of digestive enzymes (protease, lipase, amylase) in intestine and hepatopancreas, which were notably higher than those in the control group (P < 0.05). Nevertheless, 100 mg/kg group could effectively inhibit the liver and gut injury caused by LPS and reduce the contents of ALT and AST, LPS and LBP in serum. In the immune (LY, AKP, ACP, IgM, C3) and antioxidant (T-AOC, SOD, CAT, GSH-PX, GR, ASA, MDA) systems, 100 mg/kg groups were the optimal group, which were remarkably higher than those of the control group (P < 0.05). Additionally, the expression of genes revealed that 100 mg/kg group could noteworthy restrain the expression of pro-inflammatory factors (tnf-α, il-1ß, il-8) and pro-apoptosis (cas-3,8,9, p53, bax, bcl-2) related genes, up-regulate the expression of anti-inflammatory (il-10, tgf-ß) factors, antioxidant-related (nrf2, gpx, gst, cat) genes and heat shock proteins (hsp70, hsp90). Simultaneously, the survival rate of C. argus in the 100 mg/kg TMF-supplemented group was the highest after LPS challenge. Our results elucidate that dietary supplementation TMF protects C. argus from LPS-induced inflammatory injury, to ameliorate digestion, immune response, antioxidant status and apoptosis, implying that TMF could be regarded as an anti-inflammatory and antioxidant agent adding to aquatic animal feed.

Aflatoxin contamination of feed poses a great risk to the global dairy industry. Analyzing the aflatoxin B1 (AFB1)-induced metabonomic changes in ruminants and screening potential biomarkers for early diagnosis of AFB1 exposure is urgently needed. Here, the effects of different doses (0, 50, and 500 µg/kg of the diet, dry matter basis) of AFB1 exposure on digestibility and performance of Saanen goats were studied, and a comprehensive untargeted metabolomic analysis was performed to reveal plasma metabonomic changes caused by the AFB1 exposure. In the current study, AFB1 exposure decreased total-tract nutrient digestibilities, nitrogen retention, total weight gain, and average daily gain of Saanen goats in a dose-dependent manner. Untargeted metabolomics revealed alterations in the plasma metabolome. A total of 3,310 and 1,462 ion peaks were obtained in positive and negative ion modes, respectively. Based on the screening criteria, 1,338 differential metabolites were detected between control and low-dose AFB1 (50 µg/kg) groups, 1,358 metabolites differed between control and high-dose AFB1 (500 µg/kg) groups, and 58 metabolites differed among all groups. Pathway analyses showed that choline metabolism in cancer and glycerophospholipid metabolism were significantly affected by the AFB1 treatments. Moreover, dysregulation of amino acid metabolism was also observed in AFB1 treated goats. The findings provided novel insights into the toxicity of AFB1 in ruminants. Exploring the underlying molecular causes of the changes may help the development of rapid diagnostic techniques and effective interventions for AFB1 intoxication.

Motor Imagery-based Brain Computer Interface (MI-BCI) is a typical active BCI with a main focus on motor intention identification. Hybrid motor imagery (MI) decoding methods that based on multi-modal fusion of Electroencephalography (EEG) and functional near-infrared spectroscopy (fNIRS), especially deep learning-based methods, become popular in recent MI-BCI studies. However, the fusion strategy and network design in deep learning-based methods are complex. To solve this problem, we proposed the multi-channel fusion method (MCF) to simplify current fusion methods, and we designed a multi-channel fusion hybrid network (MCFHNet) based on MCF. MCFHNet combines depthwise convolutional layers, channel attention mechanism, and Bidirectional Long Short Term Memory (Bi-LSTM) layers, which enables strong capability of feature extraction in spatial and temporal domain. The comparison between MCFHNet and representative deep learning-based methods was performed on an open EEG-fNIRS dataset. We found the proposed method can yield superior performance (mean accuracy of 99.641 % in 5-fold cross validation of an intra-subject experiment). This work provides a new option for multi-modal MI decoding, which can be applied in the rehabilitation field based on hybrid BCI systems.

In recent years, the physical quality of middle school students in China has generally declined, which has attracted the attention of the state and the Ministry of education. With the development of Internet technology, China's physical education teaching environment has gradually become intelligent. This article mainly studies the mobile terminal equipment and methods of martial arts movement correction in the intelligent physical education environment. 21 young martial arts athletes were selected as the research objects. In the experiment, functional screening (FMS) was used to test the martial arts athletes, followed by FMS tests and scores. A video camera was used to record the motion test from the subjects' sagittal and frontal planes. Using wireless sensor technology to collect the athletes' motion signals, after the twelfth week, the FMS, SEBT, and the number of successful routines were tested on the two groups of athletes, respectively. The pre-test data and the post-correction data of the two test indicators were compared and analyzed. There is no significant difference. The necessary statistics and integration of the obtained data are carried out by using the calculation methods in sports statistics. The experimental data showed that the average total scores of FMS screening test of Changquan athletes and Taijiquan athletes were 14.71 ± 1.52 and 16.20 ± 1.32, respectively. The results of the research on the mobile terminal equipment and methods of martial arts movement correction in the intelligent sports environment show that the mobile terminal equipment can improve the independent training ability of athletes, and at the same time has a good correction effect on irregular movements.
