RESUMEN

OBJECTIVES: to elaborate an ICNP® terminological subset for people with diabetic foot ulcers in Primary Health Care. METHODS: this is a methodological study that followed five steps: 1) Identification of relevant terms for the patients through an integrative literature review and official documents in the area; 2) Mapping of terms identified with ICNP® terms; 3) Construction of statements of nursing diagnoses, outcomes and interventions; 4) Structuring of a terminological subset with the Self-Care Deficit Theory; and 5) Content validity of statements constructed with nurses from a programmatic area in Rio de Janeiro. RESULTS: the subset developed is composed of 81 diagnoses/outcomes and 583 nursing interventions, organized into universal, change and development requirements. CONCLUSIONS: the subset on screen was predominantly composed of statements inserted in self-care requirements related to health changes, reinforcing the importance of quality of life and recovery.

RESUMEN

OBJECTIVES: to review the state of the art on Advanced Nursing Practices. METHODS: a scoping review of existing publications up to 2020, in the PubMed/MEDLINE, SciELO, LILACS, BDENF, Web of Science and Scopus databases, identified by descriptors "Prática Avançada de Enfermagem" or "Advanced Practice Nursing". A total of 184 documents were selected. The characterization of this study was carried out, followed by the construction of an overview of different regions of the world. RESULTS: studies showed an increasing trend in the last decade, being present in all continents, although 43.5% correspond to opinion articles, comments, editorials and event reports. Even with similar aspects, the justifications for Advanced Nursing Practices reflect specific regional needs. FINAL CONSIDERATIONS: the studies still lack methodological variety and emphasis on the specificities of countries and their health systems, in addition to greater detail on labor regulation, professional training and the impacts of these practices in nursing.

RESUMEN

OBJECTIVE: To construct and validate nursing diagnoses statements of the International Classification for Nursing Practice (ICNP®) for the person with diabetic foot ulcer being followed up in primary health care. METHOD: This is a methodological study structured in four stages: identification of terms; cross-mapping of identified terms with ICNP terms®, version 2019/2020; construction of nursing diagnoses statements and organization with Orem's Theory of Self-care; and content validation by expert nurses working in primary care, with those with Content Validity Index (CVI) ≥ 0.80 being considered valid. RESULTS: Eighty-one diagnostic statements were constructed, five of which were positive, 67 negative, and nine risky. Of these, 58 were included in ICNP® and 23 were not, 51% of which were categorized as self-care requirements related to health changes. CONCLUSION: ICNP® subsidized the construction of a technical product, which can be consulted and used by nurses and will allow the strengthening of the standardization of a specific language in the context of care for people with diabetic foot ulcers in primary health care.

RESUMEN

OBJECTIVE: To identify and analyze the weaknesses of the nurse's practice in meeting spontaneous demands in primary care units in the city of Rio de Janeiro. METHOD: Qualitative study carried out in Rio de Janeiro, in 2016, with 20 nurses recruited unintentionally. The focus group and simple observation were applied, and data were subjected to thematic content analysis. RESULTS: The spontaneous demand service causes tensions and work overload. Nurses and community health agents are primarily responsible for organizing access. FINAL CONSIDERATIONS: There was a lack of understanding of the practice of spontaneous demand as part of care management, in addition to a polysemy related to the term. While for some, welcoming practices means greater autonomy, incorporating a larger scope of actions related to care and expanding their clinical practice; for others, they represent a stage that precedes medical consultation and a disorganizing element of care.

RESUMEN

OBJECTIVE: to analyze the prevalence and factors associated with psychological distress in students and workers at a public nursing college during the COVID-19 pandemic. METHODS: this is a cross-sectional study, carried out by a structured survey based on the internet with a sample of 477 students and workers. Prevalence ratios were calculated and adjusted Prevalence Ratios were obtained by Poisson Regression, with robust variance control and stepwise backward technique. RESULTS: the prevalence of psychological distress was 19.29% (95%CI: 15.98-23.09). Testing (PR 1.55; p-value 0.026) and belonging to the COVID-19 risk group (1.71; p-value 0.005), perception of family atmosphere (PR 3.10; p-value <0.001), feelings of loneliness (PR 2.64; p-value <0.001) and family violence (PR 2.21; p-value 0.005) were associated with distress. CONCLUSIONS: the high magnitude of the event and its association with COVID-19, loneliness and family dynamics arouse the need to build strategies that promote a place of protection for schools.

RESUMEN

A descriptive study with qualitative approach was developed, aiming at analyzing the educational practices developed by nurses of the Health Family Program (HFP) in the communities living in the shanty town "Complexo do Alemão", located in the city of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Data were collected in 2004, using observation and semi-structured interviews with 12 nurses of the HFP units. Based on content analysis, the following categories were built: educational practice types, educational approach, and traditional and non-traditional health. Dissociation between discourse and practice was observed, demonstrating the need of associating knowledge to practice, and to incorporate transforming educational practices to nursing routine practice. This study aimed at contributing intends to contribute for the reflection on the potentiality of incorporating educational practices as care and its relation with the participation of the stakeholders, stimulating their autonomy.

RESUMEN

The trajectory of participation in health research by community social actors worldwide has been built on a history of community participation from the Ottawa Charter Health Promotion call for community mobilization, to the emancipatory educational philosophy of Paulo Freire, to social movements and organizing for health and social justice. This paper builds on this history to expand our global knowledge about community participation in research through a dialogue between experiences and contexts in two prominent countries in this approach; the United States and Brazil. We first focus on differences in political and scientific contexts, financing, and academic perspectives and then present how, despite these differences, similarities exist in values and collaborative methodologies aimed at engaging community partners in democratizing science and knowledge construction. We present three case studies, one from the U.S. and two from Brazil, which illustrate similar multi-level processes using participatory research tools and Freirian dialogue to contribute to social mobilization, community empowerment, and the transformation of inequitable societal conditions. Despite different processes of evolution, we observed a convergence of participatory health research strategies and values that can transform science in our commitment to reduce health and social inequities and improve community wellbeing.
