RESUMEN

Nanoporous thin films with pore size of sub-10 nm are fabricated using an acid-cleavable block copolymer (BCP), a benzoic imine junction between poly(ethylene oxide) (PEO) and poly(methacrylate) (PMAAz) bearing an azobenzene side chain (denoted as PEO-bei-PMAAz) as the precursor. After a thermal annealing, the block copolymers are self-assembled to form highly ordered PEO cylinders within a PMAAz matrix normal to the film, even in the case of low BCP molecular weight due to the existing of the liquid crystalline (LC) azobenzene rigid segment. Thus, PMAAz thin films with pore size of ≈7 nm and density of ≈1012 cm-2 are obtained after removal of the PEO minor phase by breaking the benzoic imine junction under mild acidic conditions. This work enriches the nanoporous polymer films from BCP precursors and introduces the LC property as a functionality which can further enhance the mechanical properties of the films and broaden their applications.

RESUMEN

The fracture toughness of sand concrete is affected by aggregate characteristics. In order to study the possibility of exploiting tailings sand, available in large quantities in sand concrete, and find an approach to improve the toughness of sand concrete by selecting appropriate fine aggregate. Three distinct fine aggregates have been used. After characterizing the fine aggregate used, the mechanical properties were tested to characterize the toughness of sand concrete, the box-counting fractal dimensions were calculated to analyze the roughness of fracture surfaces, and the microstructure was tested to observe the path and width of microcracks and hydration products in sand concrete. The results show that the mineral composition of fine aggregates is close, but their fineness modulus, fine aggregate angularity (FAA) and gradation vary considerably; FAA has a significant impact on the fracture toughness of sand concrete. The higher the FAA value, the more resistant it is to crack expansion; with the FAA values of from 32 s to 44 s, the microcrack width in sand concrete was reduced from 0.25 um to 0.14 um; The fracture toughness and microstructure of sand concrete are also related to the gradation of fine aggregates, the better gradation can improve the performance of the interfacial transition zone (ITZ). The hydration products in the ITZ are also different because more reasonable gradation of aggregates reduces the voids between the fine aggregates and the cement paste and restrains the full growth of crystals. These results demonstrate that sand concrete has promising applications in the field of construction engineering.

RESUMEN

Graphene films, fabricated by chemical vapor deposition (CVD) method, have exhibited superiorities in high crystallinity, thickness controllability, and large-scale uniformity. However, most synthesized graphene films are substrate-dependent, and usually fragile for practical application. Herein, a freestanding graphene film is prepared based on the CVD route. By using the etchable fabric substrate, a large-scale papyraceous freestanding graphene fabric film (FS-GFF) is obtained. The electrical conductivity of FS-GFF can be modulated from 50 to 2800 Ω sq-1 by tailoring the graphene layer thickness. Moreover, the FS-GFF can be further attached to various shaped objects by a simple rewetting manipulation with negligible changes of electric conductivity. Based on the advanced fabric structure, excellent electrical property, and high infrared emissivity, the FS-GFF is thus assembled into a flexible device with tunable infrared emissivity, which can achieve the adaptive camouflage ability in complicated backgrounds. This work provides an infusive insight into the fabrication of large-scale freestanding graphene fabric films, while promoting the exploration on the flexible infrared camouflage textiles.

RESUMEN

A fully rollable nanocomposite-based nanogenerator (NCG) is developed by integrating a lead-free piezoelectric hybrid layer with a type of nanofiber-supported silver nanowire (AgNW) network as electrodes. The thin-film nanocomposite is composed of electroactive polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) polymer matrix and compositionally modified potassium sodium niobate-based nanoparticles (NPs) with a high piezoelectric coefficient ( d33) of 53 pm/V, which is revealed by the piezoresponse force microscopy measurements. Under periodical agitation at a compressive force of 50 N and 1 Hz, the NCG can steadily render high electric output up to an open-circuit voltage of 18 V and a short-circuit current of 2.6 µA. Of particular importance is the decent rollability of the NCG, as indicated by the negligible decay in the electric output after it being repeatedly rolled around a gel pen for 200 cycles. Besides, the biocompatible NCG can potentially be used to scavenge biomechanical energy from low-frequency human motions, as demonstrated by the scenarios of walking and elbow joint movement. These results rationally expand the feasibility of the developed NCG toward applications in lightweight, diminutive, and multifunctional rollable or wearable electronic devices.

RESUMEN

The orientation transition from perpendicular to parallel alignment of PEO cylindrical domains of PEO-b-PMA(Az) films has been demonstrated by extruding the block copolymer (BCP) solutions through a micropore of a plastic gastight syringe. The parallelized orientation of PEO domains induced by this micropore extrusion can be recovered to perpendicular alignment via ultrasonication of the extruded BCP solutions and subsequent annealing. A plausible mechanism is proposed in this study. The BCP films can be used as templates to prepare nanowire arrays with controlled layers, which has enormous potential application in the field of integrated circuits.

RESUMEN

Nickel-induced morphology change of mesostructured alumina with amorphous walls to bayerite tetrahedra when treated in water, and then to γ-alumina with worm-like mesopores topologically after it was calcined at 400 °C is reported. The catalytic activity for selective CO methanation increased significantly after this treatment.
