BACKGROUND: Fertility preservation treatment is increasingly essential for patients with apical endometrial hyperplasia (AEH) and early endometrial cancer (EEC) worldwide. Complete regression (CR) is the main endpoint of this treatment. Accurately predicting CR and implementing appropriate interventions during treatment are crucial for these patients. METHODS: We conducted a retrospective study involving 193 patients diagnosed with atypical AEH or EEC, enrolled from January 2012 to March 2022 at our center. We evaluated 24 clinical parameters as candidate predictors and employed LASSO regression to develop a prediction model for CR. Subsequently, a nomogram was constructed to predict CR after the treatment. We evaluated the performance of the nomogram using receiver operator characteristic (ROC) curve and decision curve analysis (DCA) to assess its predictive accuracy. Additionally, we employed cumulative curves to determine the CR rate among patients. RESULTS: Out of the 193 patients, 173 achieved CR after undergoing fertility preservation treatment. We categorized features with similar properties and provided a list of formulas based on their coefficients. The final model, named GLOBAL (including basic information, characteristics, blood pressure, glucose metabolism, lipid metabolism, immunohistochemistry, histological type, and medication), comprised eight variables identified using LASSO regression. A nomogram incorporating these eight risk factors was developed to predict CR. The GLOBAL model exhibited an AUC of 0.907 (95% CI 0.828-0.969). Calibration plots demonstrated a favorable agreement between the predicted probability by the GLOBAL model and actual observations in the cohort. The cumulative curve analysis revealed varying cumulative CR rates among patients in the eight subgroups. Categorized analysis demonstrated significant diversity in the effects of the GLOBAL model on CR among patients with different total points (p < 0.05). CONCLUSION: We have developed and validated a model that significantly enhances the predictive accuracy of CR in AEH and EEC patients seeking fertility preservation treatment.

Chlorinated polyfluorinated ether sulfonate, commercially known as F-53B, has been associated with adverse birth outcomes. However, the reproductive toxicology of F-53B on the placenta remains poorly understood. To address this gap, we examined the impact of F-53B on placental injury and its underlying molecular mechanisms in vivo. Pregnant C57BL/6 J female mice were randomly allocated to three groups: the control group, F-53B 0.8 µg/kg/day group, and F-53B 8 µg/kg/day group. After F-53B exposure through free drinking water from gestational day (GD) 0.5-14.5, the F-53B 8 µg/kg/day group exhibited significant increases in placental weights and distinctive histopathological alterations, including inflammatory cell infiltration, heightened syncytiotrophoblast knots, and a loosened trophoblastic basement membrane. Within the F-53B 8 µg/kg/day group, placental tissue exhibited increased apoptosis, as indicated by increased caspase3 activation. Furthermore, F-53B potentially induced the NF-κB signaling pathway activation through IκB-α phosphorylation. Subsequently, this activation upregulated the expression of inflammatory cytokines and components of the NLRP3 inflammasome, including activated caspase1, IL-1ß, IL-18, and cleaved gasdermin D (GSDMD), ultimately leading to pyroptosis in the mouse placenta. Our findings reveal a pronounced inflammatory injury in the placenta due to F-53B exposure, suggesting potential reproductive toxicity at concentrations relevant to the human population. Further toxicological and epidemiological investigations are warranted to conclusively assess the reproductive health risks posed by F-53B.

BACKGROUND: Topical photodynamic therapy (PDT) has demonstrated encouraging results in the treatment of oral leukoplakia (OLK). However, data on the clinical efficacy of PDT in Chinese patients with OLK are still limited. METHODS: Fifty patients diagnosed with OLK were enrolled, including patients with various dysplastic tissues. All patients received topical PDT with 5-aminolevulinic acid (5-ALA) as a photosensitizer. Clinical efficacy was evaluated 4 weeks after treatment. Follow-up was performed every 3 months during the first year and every 6 months during the second year. RESULTS: The overall response rate was 68% (34/50): 12% (n = 6) complete and 56% (n = 28) partial responses. Aneuploidy was reduced in the patients with dysplastic lesions. Oral pain and local ulcers developed in 52% of the patients (n = 26). Patients with a long history of OLK including hyperplasia and dysplastic lesions, as well as those with non-homogenous lesions, were more likely to develop pain and ulcer. During follow-up, the recurrence rate of hyperplasia and dysplastic lesions was 32% (n = 16) and the malignant transformation rate of dysplastic lesions was 4% (n = 2). Lesions on the buccal mucosa were associated with recurrence (P = 0.044; OR: 0.108, 95% CI: 0.013-0.915). CONCLUSION: Topical 5-ALA-mediated PDT is an effective treatment for OLK, particularly for homogenous leukoplakia, with few side effects. The buccal mucosa may be a protective factor that can reduce recurrence.

In order to study the toxic effect and mechanism of triptolide(TP) on the reproductive system of female rats with Ⅱ type collagen induced arthritis(CIA), 50 SD rats were randomly divided into normal control group, CIA model group, and three groups receiving TP tablets at clinically equivalent doses of 0. 5, 1, and 2 times, respectively(with TP dosages of 3. 75, 7. 5, and 15 µg·kg~(-1)·d~(-1)), each comprising 10 rats. Intragastric administration was started on the day after the first immunization, once a day, for 42 days.The results were taken on the 21st and 42nd days to calculate the uterine and ovarian organ indexes; pathological and morphological changes in uterus and ovaries were observed under a light microscope; and the levels of estradiol(E_2) and cytochrome P450A1(aromatase,CYP19A1) in ovarian homogenate were detected by ELISA. Furthermore, immunohistochemistry was employed to detect the expression levels of transforming growth factor ß3( TGFß3) pathway-related proteins, mothers against decapentaplegic homolog 3(Smad3) and steroidogenic factor-1(SF-1) in ovarian tissues. In vitro, the mouse Chinese hamster ovary(CHO) cell line was established, and after 24 hours of TP administration(30, 60, 120 nmol·L~(-1)), cell proliferation was detected by the thiazolyl blue tetrazolium bromide(MTT) method, apoptosis by the flow cytometry, and TGFß3, Smad3 and SF-1 protein expression in cells by the Western blot method, and the nuclear entry of SF-1 was detected by immunofluorescence. The results showed that compared with the CIA model group, all TP administration groups showed decreased number of uterine glands, total follicles, mature follicles, and corpus luteum on days 21 and 42 of administration, but there was no statistical difference, and only the administration of 2 times the clinically equivalent dose of TP could significantly increase the number of atretic follicles at 42 days of administration. TP at 3. 75 µg·kg-1·d-1significantly reduced the level of E_2 at 21 days of administration and the expression of TGFß3 and Smad3 factors in ovarian tissues,but had no significant effect on the rate-limiting enzyme in estrogen synthesis CYP19A1. TP at 7. 5 and 15 µg·kg~(-1)·d~(-1) significantly reduced the expression of SF-1 regardless of administration for 21 days or 42 days. TP can significantly promote ovarian cell apoptosis in vitro, with apoptosis mainly concentrated in the late stage of apoptosis after 24 hours of administration. In addition, 60 nmol·L~(-1) TP significantly reduced the protein expression of TGFß3, Smad3 and SF-1 in a dose-dependent manner. In summary, intragastric administration of TP at less than 2 times the clinically equivalent dose for 21 days and 42 days did not cause obvious reproductive damage to the uterus and ovarian tissues of CIA rats, and the number of atretic follicles changed significantly only when the 2 times the clinically equivalent dose was administered for 42 days. TP exerted reproductive toxicity in vivo on reproductive target organs and in vitro on ovarian cells by inhibiting the expression of TGFß3/Smad3/SF-1 pathway.

BACKGROUND: The astrocytes in the central nervous system (CNS) exhibit morphological and functional diversity in brain region-specific pattern. Functional alterations of reactive astrocytes are commonly present in human temporal lobe epilepsy (TLE) cases, meanwhile the neuroinflammation mediated by reactive astrocytes may advance the development of hippocampal epilepsy in animal models. Nuclear factor I-A (NFIA) may regulate astrocyte diversity in the adult brain. However, whether NFIA endows the astrocytes with regional specificity to be involved in epileptogenesis remains elusive. METHODS: Here, we utilize an interference RNA targeting NFIA to explore the characteristics of NFIA expression and its role in astrocyte reactivity in a 4-aminopyridine (4-AP)-induced seizure model in vivo and in vitro. Combined with the employment of a HA-tagged plasmid overexpressing NFIA, we further investigate the precise mechanisms how NIFA facilitates epileptogenesis. RESULTS: 4-AP-induced NFIA upregulation in hippocampal region is astrocyte-specific, and primarily promotes detrimental actions of reactive astrocyte. In line with this phenomenon, both NFIA and vanilloid transient receptor potential 4 (TRPV4) are upregulated in hippocampal astrocytes in human samples from the TLE surgical patients and mouse samples with intraperitoneal 4-AP. NFIA directly regulates mouse astrocytic TRPV4 expression while the quantity and the functional activity of TRPV4 are required for 4-AP-induced astrocyte reactivity and release of proinflammatory cytokines in the charge of NFIA upregulation. NFIA deficiency efficiently inhibits 4-AP-induced TRPV4 upregulation, weakens astrocytic calcium activity and specific astrocyte reactivity, thereby mitigating aberrant neuronal discharges and neuronal damage, and suppressing epileptic seizure. CONCLUSIONS: Our results uncover the critical role of NFIA in astrocyte reactivity and illustrate how epileptogenic brain injury initiates cell-specific signaling pathway to dictate the astrocyte responses.

RESUMEN

The passive approach to quantum key distribution (QKD) consists of removing all active modulation from the users' devices, a highly desirable countermeasure to get rid of modulator side channels. Nevertheless, active modulation has not been completely removed in QKD systems so far, due to both theoretical and practical limitations. In this Letter, we present a fully passive time-bin encoding QKD system and report on the successful implementation of a modulator-free QKD link. According to the latest theoretical analysis, our prototype is capable of delivering competitive secret key rates in the finite key regime.

The surface ligands of nanoparticles (NPs) play essential roles in material synthesis, properties, and applications. Chiral molecules have been the new hot topic in tuning the properties of inorganic NPs. Herein, l-arginine- and d-arginine-stabilized ZnO NPs were prepared, and the TEM, UV-vis, and PL spectra were investigated, which demonstrated that the l-arginine and d-arginine have different effects on the self-assembly and photoluminescence properties of ZnO NPs, showing an evident chiral effect. Furthermore, the results of the cell viability assays, plate counting method, and bacterial SEM images showed that ZnO@LA possessed lower biocompatibility and higher antibacterial efficiency than those of ZnO@DA, implying that the chiral molecules on the surface of nanomaterials may affect their bioproperties.

BACKGROUND: Metabolites in spent embryo culture medium correlate with the embryo's viability. However, there is no widely accepted method using metabolite dada to predict successful implantation. We sought to combine metabolomic profiling of spent embryo culture medium and clinical variables to create an implantation prediction model as an adjunct to morphological screening of day 3 embryos. METHODS: This investigation was a prospective, nested case-control study. Forty-two day 3 embryos from 34 patients were transferred, and the spent embryo culture medium was collected. Twenty-two embryos implanted successfully, and the others failed. Metabolites in the medium relevant to implantation were detected and measured by Liquid Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry. Clinical signatures relevant to embryo implantation were subjected to univariate analysis to select candidates for a prediction model. Multivariate logistical regression of the clinical and metabolomic candidates was used to construct a prediction model for embryo implantation potential. RESULTS: The levels of 13 metabolites were significantly different between the successful and failed groups, among which five were most relevant and interpretable selected by Least Absolute Shrinkage and Selection Operator regression analysis. None of the clinical variables significantly affected day 3 embryo implantation. The most relevant and interpretable set of metabolites was used to construct a prediction model for day 3 embryo implantation potential with an accuracy of 0.88. CONCLUSIONS: Day 3 embryos'implantation potential could be noninvasively predicted by the spent embryo culture medium's metabolites measured by LC-MS. This approach may become a useful adjunct to morphological evaluation of day 3 embryos.

Aiming at the difficulty of detecting the modulation transfer function (MTF) of Bayer color cameras during focusing, the traditional scheme is modified in this paper. First, through analysis, it is found that the MTF of the Bayer detector decreased substantially compared to the monochromatic detector, which was caused by the loss of a large amount of light from the Bayer detector. When the MTF is calculated for the color image after de-mosaicing, the degradation of image quality leads to the inability to obtain the full-frequency MTF curve. Therefore, this paper proposes a solution to detect the MTFs of the three primary colors in the Bayer image individually, and then weight the MTFs of each primary color to obtain the MTF of the color image based on the calibration results of the light source. Then, considering the steps of differentiation and Fourier transform in the slanted-edge method, this paper solves the problem of non-uniform sampling of edge spread function by using the modification of the slanted-edge method with non-uniform Fourier transform. Finally, the optimal imaging position of a certain type of Bayer color camera is determined using the methods proposed in this paper. Simulation and test results verify the effectiveness and accuracy of the methods in this paper.

OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the impact of oral intake of Hyaluronic Acid (HA) on skin health. BACKGROUND: HA, an endogenous substance in the human body, plays a key role in skin health. However, its concentration in the skin decreases significantly with age. Previous studies suggested that oral intake of HA can supplement the body's HA level, but did not reveal the effects on different age groups and skin types. METHODS: A double-blind, randomized clinical trial with 129 female participants, covering young and elderly groups and differnet skin types, was conducted to assess the efficacy of orally administered HA on skin health. RESULTS: Oral administration of HA significantly promoted skin hydration after 2-8 weeks among both young and elderly groups. Skin tone improvement was observed after 4-8 weeks, while an increase in epidermal thickness was noted after 12 weeks. CONCLUSION: This study provides direct evidence supporting the clinical efficacy of oral intake of HA in promoting skin health.

BACKGROUND: To compared the clinical efficacy of two surgical methods, posterior laminectomy fusion fixation, and posterior single open-door laminoplasty, in treating multilevel cervical ossification of the posterior longitudinal ligament (OPLL). METHODS: The study retrospectively included 102 patients treated between December 2016 and December 2020. The patients were included into an observation group (56 cases) treated with total laminectomy and lateral screw fixation, and a control group (46 cases) treated with single open-door laminoplasty. RESULTS: After 24 months, both groups showed significant improvement in Japanese Orthopaedic Association (JOA) scores and Visual Analogue Scale (VAS) scores, indicating better clinical symptoms and functional recovery. There was no significant difference in preoperative JOA and VAS scores between the two groups (P > 0.05). At 24 months after surgery, there was no significant difference in JOA and VAS scores between the two groups (P > 0.05). However, the observation group had a significantly higher cervical curvature index (CCI) and lower range of motion (ROM) of the cervical spine compared to the control group (P < 0.05). The CCI in control group was lower than before surgery, while the CCI in observation group was higher than before surgery, and CCI in the control group was considerably lower than that in the observation group (P < 0.05). The complication rate was lower in the control group, with fewer cases of axial symptoms, fifth cervical nerve root palsy, and overall complications. The overall complication rate was 25.0% (14/56) in the observation group and 10.8% (5/46) in the control group (P < 0.05). CONCLUSIONS: Both posterior laminectomy fusion fixation and posterior single open-door laminoplasty yield positive outcomes in improving clinical neurological function, cervical curvature, range of motion of the cervical spine, and cervical sagittal balance. Although open-door laminoplasty is less effective than total laminectomy in maintaining CCI and sagittal balance, it excels in preserving cervical range of motion, less surgical trauma and complications. Thus, open-door laminoplasty may be a suitable first-choice treatment for multi-segmental cervical OPLL, especially for patients with lordotic cervical spine physiological curvature.

INTRODUCTION: Although the Tibetan medicine Triphala (THL) is widely used in many countries, insufficient progress has been made in quality control. OBJECTIVES: The present study aimed to propose a methodology for quality control of THL based on HPLC fingerprinting combined with an orthogonal array design. METHODS: Seven identified peaks were used as indicators to examine the effects of temperature, extraction time, and solid-liquid ratio on the dissolution of active ingredients in THL. Fingerprint analysis was performed on 20 batches of THL from four geographical areas (China, Laos, Thailand, and Vietnam). For further chemometric assessment, analysis techniques including similarity analysis, hierarchical clustering analysis, principal component analysis, and orthogonal partial least squares discrimination analysis (OPLS-DA) were used to classify the 20 batches of samples. RESULTS: Fingerprints were established and 19 common peaks were identified. The similarity of 20 batches of THL was more than 0.9 and the batches were divided into two clusters. Four differential components of THL were identified based on OPLS-DA, including chebulinic acid, chebulagic acid, and corilagin. The optimal extraction conditions were an extraction time of 30 min, a temperature of 90°C, and a solid-liquid ratio of 30 mL/g. CONCLUSION: HPLC fingerprinting combined with an orthogonal array design could be used for comprehensive evaluation and quality assessment of THL, providing a theoretical basis for further development and utilization of THL.

In this paper, a cutting-edge video target tracking system is proposed, combining feature location and blockchain technology. The location method makes full use of feature registration and received trajectory correction signals to achieve high accuracy in tracking targets. The system leverages the power of blockchain technology to address the challenge of insufficient accuracy in tracking occluded targets, by organizing the video target tracking tasks in a secure and decentralized manner. To further enhance the accuracy of small target tracking, the system uses adaptive clustering to guide the target location process across different nodes. In addition, the paper also presents an unmentioned trajectory optimization post-processing approach, which is based on result stabilization, effectively reducing inter-frame jitter. This post-processing step plays a crucial role in maintaining a smooth and stable track of the target, even in challenging scenarios such as fast movements or significant occlusions. Experimental results on CarChase2 (TLP) and basketball stand advertisements (BSA) datasets show that the proposed feature location method is better than the existing methods, achieving a recall of 51% (27.96+) and a precision of 66.5% (40.04+) in the CarChase2 dataset and recall of 85.52 (11.75+)% and precision of 47.48 (39.2+)% in the BSA dataset. Moreover, the proposed video target tracking and correction model performs better than the existing tracking model, showing a recall of 97.1% and a precision of 92.6% in the CarChase2 dataset and an average recall of 75.9% and mAP of 82.87% in the BSA dataset, respectively. The proposed system presents a comprehensive solution for video target tracking, offering high accuracy, robustness, and stability. The combination of robust feature location, blockchain technology, and trajectory optimization post-processing makes it a promising approach for a wide range of video analytics applications, such as surveillance, autonomous driving, and sports analysis.

Bayer filter color cameras are more and more widely used in the field of aerospace remote sensing, but the Bayer filter causes great degradation in image quality; therefore, obtaining a means of achieving the high-precision measurement of the modulation transfer function (MTF) of Bayer filter color cameras is an urgent problem. In order to solve this problem, this paper develops a slanted-edge method via three steps: the detection of the slanted edge, the acquisition and processing of the edge spread function (ESF), and the acquisition and processing of the line spread function (LSF). A combination of the Canny operator and Hough transform is proposed for the detection of the slanted edge, which improves the fitting accuracy and anti-interference ability of the algorithm. Further, the Canny operator is improved by constructing an adaptive filter function and introducing the Otsu method, which can more effectively smooth the image and remove its false edges. A method of processing ESF data by combining cubic spline interpolation and Savitzky-Golay (SG) filtering is proposed, which reduces the effects of noise and the non-uniform sampling of ESF on MTF. A method of LSF processing using Gaussian function fitting is proposed to further reduce the effect of noise on MTF. The improved algorithm is verified by the MTF measurement test applied to a specific type of Bayer filter color space camera. The simulation and test results show that the improved slanted-edge method discussed in this paper has greater precision and a better anti-interference ability, and it can effectively solve the difficult problem associated with MTF detection in Bayer filter color space cameras.

Recurrent implantation failure (RIF) is a challenging scenario from different standpoints. This study aimed to investigate its correlation with the endometrial metabolic characteristics. Transcriptomics data of 70 RIF and 99 normal endometrium tissues were retrieved from the Gene Expression Omnibus database. Common differentially expressed metabolism-related genes were extracted and various enrichment analyses were applied. Then, RIF was classified using a consensus clustering approach. Three machine learning methods were employed for screening key genes, and they were validated through the RT-qPCR experiment in the endometrium of 10 RIF and 10 healthy individuals. Receiver operator characteristic (ROC) curves were generated and validated by 20 RIF and 20 healthy individuals from Peking University People's Hospital. We uncovered 109 RIF-related metabolic genes and proposed a novel two-subtype RIF classification according to their metabolic features. Eight characteristic genes (SRD5A1, POLR3E, PPA2, PAPSS1, PRUNE, CA12, PDE6D, and RBKS) were identified, and the area under curve (AUC) was 0.902 and the external validated AUC was 0.867. Higher immune cell infiltration levels were found in RIF patients and a metabolism-related regulatory network was constructed. Our work has explored the metabolic and immune characteristics of RIF, which paves a new road to future investigation of the related pathogenic mechanisms.

BACKGROUND: Dyslipidaemia is associated with cancers. However, the specific expression of serum lipids in oral potentially malignant disorders (OPMD) and oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC) remains unclear, and it remains unknown whether serum lipids are associated with the development of OPMD and OSCC. This study investigated the serum lipid profiles of OPMD and OSCC patients, and the association of serum lipids with the occurrence of OPMD and OSCC. METHODS: A total of 532 patients were recruited from the Affiliated Hospital of Stomatology, Nanjing Medical University. Serum lipid parameters including total cholesterol (TC), triglycerides (TGs), high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C), low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C), apolipoprotein A (Apo-A), apolipoprotein B (Apo-B), and lipoprotein (a) (Lpa) were analysed, and clinicopathological data were collected for further analysis. Furthermore, a regression model was used to evaluate the relationship between serum lipids and the occurrence of OSCC and OPMD. RESULTS: After adjusting for age and sex, no significant differences were observed in serum lipid or body mass index (BMI) between OSCC patients and controls (P > 0.05). HDL-C, Apo-A, and Apo-B levels were lower in OSCC patients than in OPMD patients (P < 0.05); HDL-C and Apo-A levels were higher in OPMD patients than in controls (P < 0.05). Furthermore, female OSCC patients had higher Apo-A and BMI values than males. The HDL-C level was lower in patients under 60 years of age than in elders (P < 0.05); and age was related to a higher risk of developing OSCC. Female patients with OPMD had higher TC, HDL-C, and Apo-A levels than males (P < 0.05); OPMD patients over 60 years of age had higher HDL-C than youngers (P < 0.05), whereas the LDL-C level was lower in elders (P < 0.05). The HDL-C and BMI values of the patients with oral leukoplakia (OLK) with dysplasia were more elevated than those of the oral lichen planus group, and the LDL-C, and Apo-A levels in patients with OLK with dysplasia were decreased (P < 0.05). Sex, high HDL-C and Apo-A values were associated with the development of OPMD. CONCLUSION: Serum lipids exhibited certain differences according to the occurrence and development of OSCC; high levels of HDL-C and Apo-A might be markers for predicting OPMD.

The enormous demand for waste heat utilization and burgeoning eco-friendly wearable materials has triggered huge interest in the development of thermoelectric materials that can harvest low-cost energy resources by converting waste heat to electricity efficiently. In particular, due to their high flexibility, nontoxicity, cost-effectivity, and promising applicability in various fields, organic thermoelectric materials are drawing more attention compared with their toxic, expensive, heavy, and brittle inorganic counterparts. Organic thermoelectric materials are approaching the figure of merit of the inorganic ones via the construction and optimization of unique transport pathways and device geometries. This review presents the recent development of the interdependence and decoupling principles of the thermoelectric efficiency parameters as well as the new achievements of high performance organic thermoelectric materials. Moreover, this review also discusses the advances in the thermoelectric devices with emphasis on their energy-related applications. It is believed that organic thermoelectric materials are emerging as green energy alternatives rivaling their conventional inorganic counterparts in the efficient and pure electricity harvesting from waste heat and solar thermal energy.

There is no doubt that measurement-device-independent quantum key distribution (MDI-QKD) is a crucial protocol that is immune to all possible detector side channel attacks. In the preparation phase, a simulation model is usually employed to get a set of optimized parameters, which is utilized for getting a higher secure key rate in reality. With the implementation of high-speed QKD, the afterpulse effect which is an intrinsic characteristic of the single-photon avalanche photodiode is no longer ignorable, this will lead to a great deviation compared with the existing analytical model. Here we develop an afterpulse-compatible MDI-QKD model to get the optimized parameters. Our results indicate that by using our afterpulse-compatible model, we can get a much higher key rate than the prior afterpulse-omitted model. It is significant to take the afterpulse effect into consideration because of the improvement of the system working frequency.

The quantum-classical coexistence can be implemented based on wavelength division multiplexing (WDM), but due to Raman noise, the wavelength spacing between quantum and classical signals and launch power from classical channels are restricted. Space division multiplexing (SDM) can now be availably achieved by multicore fiber (MCF) to reduce Raman noise, thereby loosening the restriction for coexistence in the same band and obtaining a high communication capacity. In this paper, we realize the quantum-classical coexistence over a 7-core MCF. Based on the SDM, the highest launch power of 25 dBm is achieved which has been extended nearly 19 times in previous work. Moreover, both the quantum and classical channels are allocated in the C-band and the minimum wavelength spacing between them is only 1.6 nm. The coexistence system eliminates the need for adding a narrowband filter.

Oral lichen planus (OLP) is a T cell-mediated, chronic inflammatory disease. CD4+ T-cell infiltration plays a crucial role in the pathogenesis of OLP. Fibroblasts are activated under pathological conditions and perform various functions. This study was designed to explore the immune activation and biological functions of OLP fibroblasts on CD4+ T cells. We detected the expression of fibroblast activation protein-alpha (FAP-α) in the oral tissues of patients with OLP and healthy controls using immunohistochemistry. Furthermore, expression of FAP-α and C-C motif chemokine ligand 5 (CCL5) in fibroblasts isolated from oral tissues of patients with OLP and healthy controls was assayed by quantitative PCR, Western blotting and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay. Moreover, we assessed the effects of fibroblasts on CD4+ T-cell proliferation, apoptosis and migration using flow cytometry and Transwell assays. We found that FAP-α expression in the oral tissues of patients with OLP was significantly higher than that in healthy controls. FAP-α and CCL5 expression levels were significantly upregulated in OLP fibroblasts. Moreover, OLP fibroblasts promoted CD4+ T-cell proliferation and migration and inhibited CD4+ T cell apoptosis. In summary, our findings indicate that OLP fibroblasts are immunologically activated and induce CD4+ T-cell infiltration in OLP.
