RESUMEN

BACKGROUND: Postprandial lipemia (PL) in adults has been extensively studied, but little explored in youth. The aim of this study was to evaluate the influence of weight excess on postprandial lipemia in adolescents. METHODS: Eighty-three adolescents were classified into Groups 1 (n= 49, overweight) and 2 (n=34, eutrophic). Total cholesterol (TC), triglycerides (TG), HDL and LDL cholesterol were measured before, 2 and 4 hours after a standardized 25 g lipid and 25 g of carbohydrate test meal; glycemia and insulin measured only at baseline. Anthropometric evaluation was performed. RESULTS: Basal TG were higher in Group 1 (p= 0.022). The total increase (Δ-TG), corresponding to the difference between the maximum and the basal TG level was similar in both groups (29.8 ± 21.5 mg/dl vs. 28.2 ± 24.5 mg/dl, p= 0.762). TC, HDL and LDL did not change significantly throughout the test. By analyzing all the adolescents together, the waist circumference was positively correlated with TG at fasting (r = 0.223; p= 0.044) and at 4 hours (r = 0.261; p= 0.019). Only overweight adolescents with hypertriglyceridemia, who also had higher HOMA-IR, presented significant elevation of TG levels 2 and 4 hours after the overload. CONCLUSION: The behavior of lipoproteins in the post-prandial state is similar in eutrophic and overweight adolescents. Thus, apparently the weight excess does not induce post prandial lipemic alterations.

RESUMEN

The scope of this study was to understand the effects resulting from Integrative and Complementary Practices (ICPs) in the treatment of people with obesity cared for at a state center of reference of the Brazilian Unified Health System, based on the reports of users. Qualitative exploratory-descriptive methodology was used, employing semi-structured interviews as a technique for data production. The empirical universe was composed of eight male and female members in the adult age group, with a medical diagnosis of obesity and being monitored at the ICP Outpatient Clinic. Feeling well was observed as a significant and pivotal sensation for the ongoing experience in the ICPs, resulting from the therapy, materialized in the different effects produced by the practices and bringing about a reorganization of the subject's life, the care of oneself and of others. It was possible to observe that the organic presence of the ICPs assumes a hybrid and dynamic place in the process of care, although a perspective has emerged that links the ICPs to obesity through the control of anxiety, the body, and food. Furthermore, the ICPs seem to collaborate with the displacement of the focus of body weight management to the person as a whole, also acting as mediators in the process of body acceptance.

The objective of the study was to evaluate the prevalence and factors associated with Burnout Syndrome (BS) in Primary Health Care (PHC) nursing professionals from the state of Bahia, Brazil. A multicentre, cross-sectional population-based study was conducted in a cluster sample among 1125 PHC Nursing professionals during the years 2017 and 2018. We used a questionnaire that included sociodemographic, labor and lifestyle variables and the Maslach Burnout Inventory scale to identify BS. The associations were evaluated using a robust Poisson regression with the hierarchical selection of the independent variables. The prevalence of BS was 18.3% and the associated factors were ethnicity (prevalence ratio (PR) = 0.62, confidence interval (CI) 95% = 0.47-0.83), residence (PR = 2.35, CI 95% = 1.79-3.09), economic situation (PR = 1.40, CI 95% = 1.06-1.86), satisfaction with current occupation (PR = 1.75, CI 95% = 1.31-2.33), (PR = 1.60, CI 95% = 1.23-2.08), rest (PR = 1.83, 95% CI = 1.41-2.37), technical resources and equipment (PR = 1.37, CI 95% = 1.06-1.77), night shift (PR = 1.49, CI 95% = 1.14-1.96), physical activity practice (PR = 1.72; CI 95% = 1.28-2.31), smoking (PR = 1.82, CI 95% = 1.35-2.45), and satisfaction with physical form (PR = 1.34, CI 95% = 1.01-179). Strategies are needed to prevent BS, with an emphasis on implementing worker health programs in the context of PHC.

As ações realizadas no grupo tiveram como objetivo, incentivar o autoconhecimento, protagonismo, desenvolvimento pessoal, social, coletivo e reflexão do processo saúde/doença.

Adolescence is considered a rite of passage from childhood to adulthood. In this phase, many habits and attitudes will suffer variations as going into adulthood, becoming more difficult to be circumvented. In order to transform this reality, educational strategies should be implemented so that, through the supervision of professionals, can help adolescents to express their feelings, exchange experiences, providing attitudes of respect and reflection on the topics addressed. This article is a report on an experiment which had the objective of analyzing the education and health promotion activities planned and implemented by a group of residents participating in the Multi-professional Residency in Family Health at UNEB in partnership with a Working Group of adolescents at USF Professor Humberto Castro Lima, located in the neighborhood of Pernambués, in the city of Salvador, state of Bahia, in 2018. . The actions carried out in the group aimed at fostering self-knowledge, leadership, personal, social, collective development, and reflections on the health/disease process. As a result, the authors highlight the contribution of the group to the promotion of young people's health, the construction of the bond between adolescents and the health unit, the contribution to becoming protagonists in the teaching-learning process, and the raising of the adolescents' awareness on the adoption of preventive practices. It can be concluded that the implementation of educational practices of a participatory, reflective, dialogical, dynamic, and problem-solving character is increasingly necessary. It was possible to perceive the potential of this strategy that transcends the biomedical model, aiming at the integral care of the subject, as well as meeting the demands and needs of users through listening, and the joint construction of knowledge so that they can participate in the process of changing attitudes towards health care.(AU)

RESUMEN

PURPOSE: Establish an experimental model of metastatic melanoma primary culture cells from fine-needle aspiration biopsies (FNAB). METHODS: Two metastatic melanoma primary culture cells from (FNAB) have been developed from patients who had been submitted to excision of metastatic lesions and they were identified by immunohistochemical analyses using S-100 and MB-45 melanoma markers. RESULTS: The culture diagnostic was confirmed by immunohistochemical. The technique of FNAB offers the advantage of providing a sequential analysis of the same tumor nodules throughout treatment, and is a minimally invasive procedure with almost no associated morbidity. CONCLUSION: The establishment of metastatic melanoma primary culture from FNAB samples showed a viable technique.

RESUMEN

UNLABELLED: The concept mapping method is presented in the current study as a new tool to assess the learning process taking part in the hallmark of a nutritional education program addressed to obese diabetic patients. POPULATION: eight patients were interviewed prior to and after completion of 1-week in-hospital stay during which concept maps were designed. Concept maps quantitative and qualitative analysis disclose both (i) the importance of previous knowledge among patients prior to nutritional education and (ii) the maintenance of misconceptions after it. Nutritional education allows patients to acquire and structure their knowledge while providing them with a certain amount of medical vocabulary. An underlying correlation between concept maps design and the results of psychological tests identifying eating behaviour troubles (EBT), depression or anxiety has not been clearly identified. However, the nutritional education is more beneficial to those patients with a higher degree of self-assertiveness and with a lesser degree of anxiety, depression and eating disorder.

RESUMEN

Considering the controversies existent on the subject, the aim of this review is to discuss adherence to diet in obese adolescents. The selection of articles was made in the SCOPUS, COCHRANE, APA Psyc Net, SciELO, LILACS, CAPES Journals, PUBMED/MEDLINE and GOOGLE ACADEMIC databases. Studies published between 2002 and 2012 were selected. There was lack of evidence of conceptual discussion about adherence to diet in obesity in the child-youth context, in addition to scarcity of data on adherence to diet itself in obese adolescents and the methods of evaluating this. Lastly, multiple interdependent factors were found which both facilitated and made the process of adherence to diet difficult for obese youngsters. The majority of these (factors) belong to the socioeconomic and cultural dimension, in addition to pointing out cognitive and psychological factors and those associated with health services and professionals.

In the last 50 years, obesity has become a global epidemic and is one of the main public health problems in many parts of the world. Adolescence is a critical period regarding weight control. The factors determining obesity include a complex group of interrelated biological, behavioral and environmental factors which reinforce each other. In children and adolescents, obesity is associated with premature cardiovascular diseases, diabetes mellitus type 2, acanthosis nigricans, respiratory and skeletal muscle problems, as well as psychological problems. The clinical manifestations of cardiovascular disease begin in middle age. Nevertheless, studies indicate that the atherosclerotic process begins to develop during childhood. Postprandial hyperlipemia is a physiological process that occurs several times a day after the complete absorption of a diet including lipids and has been suggested as a risk factor for coronary heart disease (CHD). New study areas include the effects of different fatty acids, lipid sources (endogenous and exogenous), and the effect ingesting alcoholic beverages during meals. Given the evidence that postprandial lipidemia is an independent risk factor for CHD, it is vital to establish normative values for children and adolescents such that more effective and efficient preventive and therapeutic measures can be adopted.

RESUMEN

Objective. The aim of this study was to evaluate the bone healing after the usage of a scaffold enriched with bone marrow. Study Design. Ten rabbits were divided into 2 groups of 5 animals. Bilateral 12 mm diameter defects were created in the parietal bones. In control group Bio-Oss were inserted in both defects and, in experimental group, Bio-Oss enriched with autologous bone marrow were inserted in both defects. In these two groups, one of the calvarial defects was covered with Bio-Gide. The rabbits were sacrified 8 weeks after surgery and both CT and histomorphometric analysis were done. Results. The CT showed a lower remaining defect area in the experimental group covered with Bio-Gide when compared with control group, with and without Bio-Gide. The histomorphometrics showed no difference between groups regarding the non-vital mineralized tissue area. For vital mineralized tissue area, the experimental group covered with Bio-Gide obtained a higher percentage area when compared with control group, with and without Bio-Gide. For non-mineralized tissue area, the experimental group covered with Bio-Gide obtained a lower percentage area when compared with control group, with and without Bio-Gide. Conclusion. Both autologous bone marrow and membrane can contribute to the enhancement of bone healing.
