RESUMEN

This study investigated the knowledge, thoughts, and attitudes of oncology nurses in China regarding fertility preservation for male cancer patients of childbearing age, and for offering counseling or oncofertility services for the men in their care. Data was collected from 18 oncology nurses in Southwest China through voluntary self-report and in-depth interviews. The qualitative interview data were analyzed using a descriptive phenomenology method based on the lived experience of the nurses. The interviewees commonly reported 6 main concerns regarding fertility preservation (FP): their insufficient knowledge and inadequate nursing education; the importance of offering such services to cancer patients; legal vulnerability if FP information is withheld from patients; the role of the nurse in counseling; and barriers to discussing FP in practice. Nurses had a positive attitude toward FP, but most had no practical role in routinely informing male patients of their options, and the nurses believed that discussion of FP was outside their scope of practice. This study offers insight into the perceptions of oncology nurses in a developing country regarding the provision of FP services for adult male cancer patients. These results lead us to recommend that local fertility nurses should be given new training regarding FP. Furthermore, nurse-led clinics are desirable. Future research should focus on the effectiveness of nurse participation in FP counseling and referral, and how to improve the professional confidence of oncology nurses for addressing FP issues.

RESUMEN

The emerging discipline of oncofertility advocates for the timely provision of fertility preservation (FP) to all cancer patients of childbearing age by healthcare providers. A lack of practice due to limited FP-related knowledge was found among healthcare providers. A systematic review was undertaken on the educational programs on FP for healthcare providers. An initial search was performed in MEDLINE, PsycINFO, CINAHL, Web of Science, PubMed, and Scopus databases in October 2019. This review was guided by the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses statement. Among the 160 articles that were identified, five relevant articles published between 2009 and 2019 were reviewed. Of the five studies, three were quantitative nonrandomized studies, one was a randomized controlled trial, and one was a qualitative study. Three programs were relevant to oncology nurses, one was relevant to social workers as well as nurses, and one was relevant to oncology fellows and residents. The four programs significantly increased healthcare providers' knowledge about FP, but clinical practice was only improved in the Educating Nurses about Reproductive Issues in Cancer Healthcare program (P < 0.01). Nevertheless, most of the studies used a self-made questionnaire or tool to assess the effects of the training programs. The educational programs improved the FP-related knowledge of healthcare providers but lacked the high-quality randomized controlled trials needed to provide robust evidence on the effectiveness of training programs using standard tools. More training projects should be developed based on learning theories or models to improve oncofertility care in clinical practice.

RESUMEN

BACKGROUND: To investigate the anti-hyperlipidemic effect of gynosaponins (GPs) in hyperlipidemic rats induced by high lipid diet. METHODS: Animal model of hyperlipidemia was established by high-fat and high-cholesterol diet. Rats were randomly divided into 6 groups, except the normal and model groups, rats in GPs groups were daily administered intragastrically with GPs (50, 100, and 200 mg/kg), and rats in simvastatin group were daily administered intragastrically with simvastatin (10 mg/kg). It was measured that the contents of glutathione peroxidase (GSH-Px), superoxide dismutase (SOD), catalase (CAT), malondialdehyde (MDA), total cholesterol (TC), triglyceride (TG), high-density lipoprotein-cholesterol (HDL-C) and low-density lipoprotein-cholesterol (LDL-C) in the serum, TG and TC in the liver during this experiment, respectively. The left lobe of liver was observed by histopathological staining, and the immunohistochemical staining was used to observe the effects on the effect of GPs on liver functions. RESULTS: Compared with the model group, GPs groups could remarkably decrease the content of lipids, GSH-Px, SOD, CAT and MDA in the serum and TC and TG in the liver of the hyperlipidemic rats. The pathomorphological results of hepatic tissue showed that fatty degeneration and inflammatory reaction of GPs groups were lightened compared with the model group. CONCLUSIONS: The results show that GPs has good effects on the treatment of hyperlipidemia induced by high lipid diet in rats. The possible anti-hyperlipidemia mechanism maybe those GPs can regulate the disorder of lipid metabolism as well as ameliorate hepatic function.

RESUMEN

OBJECTIVE: To investigate the distribution of Rh phenotype, irregular antibodies screenting and postpartum follow-up of RhD- pregnant women in Xiamen. METHODS: The samples of 313 RhD- pregnant women from June 2018 to May 2020 were collected. Rh serotype phenotypes were identified by tube physiological saline method, irregular antibodies were screened and confirmed by DiaMed Low ion indirect anti-human gel card. By recording the medical, the pregnant women production process and the occurrence of HDN were investigated. RESULTS: The Rh serological phenotypes of 313 RhD- pregnant women were ccdee 180 cases (57.51%), Ccdee 97 cases (30.99%), ccdEe 10 cases(3.19%), CCdee 21 cases (6.71%), CcdEe 5 cases (1.60%), the ccdee and ccdee were the most common in the serological phenotype. Eleven irregular antibodies were detected in 313 RhD- pregnant women, accounting for 351% of the total. There were 8 cases of anti-D antibody, 1 case of anti-E antibody, and 2 cases of anti-D combined with anti-C antibody. The medical records of 21 RhD- pregnant women were reviewed, 19 cases of RhD+ and 2 RhD- newborns were successfully delivered, in which 2 cases developed RhD-HDN, 1 case developed RHE-HDN, and the remaining 18 cases did not develop HDN. CONCLUSION: The Rh serological phenotype of RhD- pregnant women in Xiamen area is mainly for ccdee. Maternal history and blood transfusion history are the main causes of irregular RhD- pregnant antibodies. It is recommended that serological phenotype combined with irregular antibody screening should be applied for RhD- pregnant women in clinic, to reduce the risk of RhD-HDN and ensure the safety of RhD- blood transfusion.

RESUMEN

The title potential anti-bacterial compound, C(14)H(12)N(2)O(4)·H(2)O, is a Schiff base which has an intra-molecular O-H⋯N hydrogen bond and crystallizes with one uncoordinated water mol-ecule, which links three symmetry-related mol-ecules through two O-H⋯O and one N-H⋯O hydrogen bond. In the crystal structure, further inter-molecular O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds link symmetry-related mol-ecules, forming layers parallel to the bc plane.

RESUMEN

(1S,3R,17R,18R,19R,20R,22R)-1,3,19,22-tetrahydroxy-28-norurs-12-en-2-one (1), along with 5 known triterpenoids (2-6), were isolated from the aerial parts of Agrimonia pilosa Ledeb. Their structures were established based on extensive spectroscopic and MS analysis. The absolute configuration of compound 1 was deduced by circular dichroism (CD). Compound 1 was the first example of a 28-norursene backbone isolated from the genus Agrimonia. Compounds 2-6 were tested for anti-inflammatory activities against RAW 264.7 macrophages. A plausible biosynthetic pathway for compound 1 in A. pilosa was also proposed.
