RESUMEN

Diabetic retinopathy (DR), a most common microangiopathy of diabetes, causes vision loss and even blindness. The mechanisms of exosomal lncRNA remain unclear in the development of DR. Here, we first identifed the pro-angiogenic effect of exosomes derived from vitreous humor of proliferative diabetic retinopathy patients, where lncRNA-MIAT was enriched inside. Secondly, lncRNA-MIAT was demonstrated significantly increased in exosomes from high glucose induced human retinal vascular endothelial cell, and can regulate tube formation, migration and proliferation ability to promote angiogenesis in vitro and in vivo. Mechanistically, the pro-angiogenic effect of lncRNA-MIAT was via the lncRNA-MIAT/miR-133a-3p/MMP-X1 axis. The reduced level of lncRNA-MIAT in this axis mitigated the generation of retinal neovascular in mouse model of oxygen-induced retinopathy (OIR), providing crucial evidence for lncRNA-MIAT as a potential clinical target. These findings enhance our understanding of the role of exosomal lncRNA-MIAT in retinal angiogenesis, and propose a promising therapeutic strategy against diabetic retinopathy.

Abnormal ocular neovascularization, a major pathology of eye diseases, leads to severe visual loss. The role of lens epithelial cell (LEC)-derived exosomes (Lec-exo) is largely unknown. Thus, we aimed to investigate whether Lec-exo can inhibit abnormal ocular neovascularization and explore the possible mechanisms. In our study, we proved the first evidence that exosomes derived from LECs attenuated angiogenesis in both oxygen-induced retinopathy and laser-induced choroidal neovascularization mice models. Further in vitro experiments proved that Lec-exo inhibited proliferation, migration, and tube formation capability of human umbilical vein endothelial cells in high glucose condition. Further high-throughput miRNAs sequencing analysis detected that miR-146a-5p was enriched in Lec-exo. Mechanistically, exosomal miR-146a-5p was delivered to endothelial cells and bound to the NRAS coding sequence, which subsequently inactivated AKT/ERK signaling pathway. We successfully elucidated the function of Lec-exo in inhibiting abnormal ocular neovascularization, which may offer a promising strategy for treatment of abnormal ocular neovascularization.

According to previous studies, three representative avian adenoviral strains utilize coxsackievirus-adenovirus receptor (CAR) as a receptor and seem to exhibit diverse binding affinities and modes. Thus, further revealing the exact molecular mechanism underlying the interaction between different FAdVs and the attachment receptor CAR is necessary. In this study, we successfully solved the crystal structure of the FAdV-4 fiber1 knob at 1.6 Šresolution. The interaction between the fibre knob and different domains of CAR was verified by confocal microscopy, coimmunoprecipitation and surface plasmon resonance (SPR) analysis. The fibre knobs of the three representative fowl adenoviruses specifically recognized CAR domain 1 (D1), but the recognition of CAR domain 2 (D2) by chicken embryo lethal orphan (CELO) strains was weak. These results provide insights into the differences in adenovirus‒host cell interactions and have important implications for the exploration of viral invasion mechanisms.

The mechanism underlying long-term cognitive impairment caused by neonatal hypoxic-ischemic brain injury (HIBI) remains unclear. Autophagy is a closely related mechanism and may play a role in this process. We aimed to investigate the role of lysosomal transmembrane protein 175 (TMEM175) in the autophagy-lysosome pathway in neonatal rats with HIBI. A neonatal rat model of HIBI was established, hypoxia was induced, followed by left common carotid artery ligation. Expression levels of TMEM175 and the corresponding proteins involved in autophagy flux and the endolysosomal system fusion process were measured. Rats were administered TMEM175 plasmid via intracerebroventricular injection to induce overexpression. Brain damage and cognitive function were then assessed. TMEM175 was downregulated in the hippocampal tissue, and the autophagy-lysosome pathway was impaired following HIBI in neonatal rats. Overexpression of TMEM175 significantly mitigated neuronal injury and improved long-term cognitive and memory function in neonatal rats with HIBI. We found that improvement in the autophagy-lysosome pathway and endolysosomal system homeostasis, which are TMEM175 related, occurred via regulation of lysosomal membrane dynamic fusion. TMEM175 plays a critical role in maintaining the autophagy-lysosome pathway and endolysosomal homeostasis, contributing to the amelioration of neuronal injury and impaired long-term cognitive function following neonatal HIBI.

BACKGROUND: Hypertension is a leading risk of coronary artery disease (CAD). Triglyceride glucose index (TyG) is a surrogate of insulin resistance (IR). Few studies explore the association between TyG and the incidence of obstructive CAD (OCAD) in hypertensive patients. METHODS: We retrospectively screened 1841 hypertensive subjects who were free of a history of CAD and underwent coronary computed tomography angiography (CCTA) because of chest pain. TyG index was calculated as ln (fasting TG [mg/dL] * fasting glucose [mg/dL]/2). The outcome of this research was OCAD, which was defined as the presence of diameter stenosis ≥ 50% in any of the four major epicardial coronary arteries detected on CCTA. RESULTS: A total of 310 (16.8%) patients developed obstructive CAD. The restricted cubic spline (RCS) analysis showed a J-shaped relationship between TyG and OCAD and the OR for OCAD increased as the TyG rose over 8.61 (OR perSD) 1.64, 95% CI 1.13-2.54, p = 0.008). After full adjustments for confounding covariates, patients with TyG index in tertile 3 (T3) had 2.12 times (95% CI 1.80 to 3.81) and in T2 had 2.01 times (95% CI 1.40 to 2.88) as high as the risk of OCAD compared with patients in T1 (p for trend = 0.001). When regarding TyG as a continuous variable, 1-SD increase elevated 49% (OR (95%CI), 1.49 (1.30-1.74)) risk of obstructive CAD (p = 0.007). This positive effect was still consistent across the subgroups (p for interaction > 0.05). CONCLUSION: TyG index was associated with the incidence of obstructive CAD in hypertensive patients.

BACKGROUND: The addition of coronary artery calcium score (CACS) to prediction models has been verified to improve performance. Machine learning (ML) algorithms become important medical tools in an era of precision medicine, However, combined utility by CACS and ML algorithms in hypertensive patients to forecast obstructive coronary artery disease (CAD) on coronary computed tomography angiography (CCTA) is rare. METHODS: This retrospective study was composed of 1,273 individuals with hypertension and without a history of CAD, who underwent dual-source computed tomography evaluation. We applied five ML algorithms, coupled with clinical factors, imaging parameters, and CACS to construct predictive models. Moreover, 80% individuals were randomly taken as a training set on which 5-fold cross-validation was done and the remaining 20% were regarded as a validation set. RESULTS: 16.7% (212 out of 1,273) of hypertensive patients had obstructive CAD. Extreme Gradient Boosting (XGBoost) posted the biggest area under the receiver operator characteristic curve (AUC) of 0.83 in five ML algorithms. Continuous net reclassification improvement (NRI) was 0.55 (95% CI (0.39-0.71), p < 0.001), and integrated discrimination improvement (IDI) was 0.04 (95% CI (0.01-0. 07), p = 0.0048) when the XGBoost model was compared with traditional Models. In the subgroup analysis stratified by hypertension levels, XGBoost still had excellent performance. CONCLUSION: The ML model incorporating clinical features and CACS may accurately forecast the presence of obstructive CAD on CCTA among hypertensive patients. XGBoost is superior to other ML algorithms.

The oxygen evolution reaction (OER) is a key half-reaction in electrocatalytic water splitting. Large-scale water electrolysis is hampered by commercial noble-metal-based OER electrocatalysts owing to their high cost. To address these issues, we present a facile, one-pot, room-temperature co-precipitation approach to quickly synthesize carbon-nanotube-interconnected amorphous NiFe-layered double hydroxides (NiFe-LDH@CNT) as cost-effective, efficient, and stable OER electrocatalysts. The hybrid catalyst NiFe-LDH@CNT delivered outstanding OER activity with a low onset overpotential of 255 mV and a small Tafel slope of 51.36 mV dec-1, as well as outstanding long-term stability. The high catalytic capability of NiFe-LDH@CNT is associated with the synergistic effects of its room-temperature synthesized amorphous structure, bi-metallic modulation, and conductive CNT skeleton. The room-temperature synthesis can not only offer economic feasibility, but can also allow amorphous NiFe-LDH to be obtained without crystalline boundaries, facilitating long-term stability during the OER process. The bi-metallic nature of NiFe-LDH guarantees a modified electronic structure, providing additional catalytic sites. Simultaneously, the highly conductive CNT network fosters a nanoporous structure, facilitating electron transfer and O2 release and enriching catalytic sites. This study introduces an innovative approach to purposefully design nanoarchitecture and easily synthesize amorphous transition-metal-based OER catalysts, ensuring their cost effectiveness, production efficiency, and long-term stability.

Carboxylesterases (CEs) play important physiological roles in the human body and are involved in numerous cellular processes. Monitoring CEs activity has great potential for the rapid diagnosis of malignant tumors and multiple diseases. Herein, we developed a new phenazine-based "turn-on" fluorescent probe DBPpys by introducing 4-bromomethyl-phenyl acetate to DBPpy, which can selectively detect CEs with a low detection limit (9.38 × 10-5 U/mL) and a large Stokes shift (more than 250 nm) in vitro. In addition, DBPpys can also be converted into DBPpy by carboxylesterase in HeLa cells and localized in lipid droplets (LDs), emitting bright near-infrared fluorescence under the irradiation of white light. Moreover, we achieved the detection of cell health status by measuring the intensity of NIR fluorescence after co-incubation of DBPpys with H2O2-pretreated HeLa cells, indicating that DBPpys has great potential applications for assessing CEs activity and cellular health.

OBJECTIVES: To investigate the global distribution, dissemination and overexpression of RE-CmeABC in Campylobacter jejuni. METHODS: WGS information for 433 RE-cmeABC-positive C. jejuni isolates (including 18 isolates sequenced in this study and 415 isolates from GenBank) was used for the generation of minimum-spanning trees with STs. WGS information for 95 representative RE-cmeABC-positive C. jejuni isolates was used for phylogenetic analysis. RT-PCR was conducted to evaluate the association between inverted repeat (IR) sequence diversity in the RE-CmeABC promoter region and RE-cmeABC gene expression. RESULTS: WGS analysis revealed the global distribution of RE-cmeABC among C. jejuni from more than 10 countries. MLST results indicated that various STs were involved in the dissemination of RE-cmeABC, with ST2109 being the most predominant ST. Phylogenetic analysis revealed the close relationship between RE-cmeABC-carrying C. jejuni isolates from poultry and humans. The IR polymorphism in the RE-CmeABC promoter region is associated with the overexpression of RE-cmeABC, which was demonstrated experimentally by RT-PCR. CONCLUSIONS: To the best of our knowledge, our analysis represents the first view of the global distribution of RE-CmeABC, which is horizontally transferable and diffused regionally in a clonal manner. The close relationship of RE-cmeABC-positive C. jejuni from poultry and humans supports the potential of these isolates for zoonotic transmission. Overexpressed RE-CmeABC in C. jejuni will increase the fitness of the corresponding bacteria and be of advantage under antimicrobial selection.

Organic small-molecule fluorophores with near-infrared IIa (NIR-IIa) emission have great potential in pre-clinical detection and inoperative imaging due to the high-spatial resolution and deep penetration. However, developments of the NIR-IIa fluorophores are still facing considerable challenges. In this work, a series of diketopyrrolopyrrole (DPP)-based fluorophores were designed and synthesized. Subsequently, nanomaterial T25@F127 with significant NIR-IIa emission properties was rationally prepared by encapsulating DPP-based fluorophore T25, and was selected for fluorescence angiography and cerebral vascular microscopic imaging with nearly 800 µm penetrating depth and excellent signal-background ratio of 4.07 and 2.26 (at 250 and 400 µm), respectively. Furthermore, the nanomaterial T25@cRGD with tumor targeting ability can image tiny metastatic tumor on intestine with a small size of 0.3 mm×1.0 mm and high-spatial resolution (SBR=3.84). This study demonstrates that the nanomaterials which encapsulated T25 behave as excellent NIR-IIa fluorescence imaging agents and have a great potential for in vivo biological application.

OBJECTIVES: This study aimed to investigate the association of serum alkaline phosphatase (ALP) with calcification patterns and plaque morphology detected by intravascular ultrasound (IVUS) in acute coronary syndrome (ACS) patients. BACKGROUND: ALP has been shown to predict vascular calcification and long-term cardiovascular events. However, the relationship between ALP and vascular calcification patterns or plaque morphology remains unclear. METHODS: In total, 328 ACS patients who underwent IVUS examinations were screened from January 2017 to December 2018; among them, 234 eligible participants were grouped according to the tertiles of ALP levels (<68, 68-80, and >80 IU/L). Demographic data and IVUS parameters were documented and analyzed. RESULTS: After adjusting for potential confounders, independent associations were observed between ALP and the presence of coronary calcification, spotty calcification, minimum lumen area (MLA) ≤ 4.0 mm2 , and plaque burden (PB) > 70%. Compared with the lowest ALP tertile group, the highest ALP group had higher risks of calcification (odds ratio [OR], 2.85; 95% confidence interval [95%CI], 1.38-5.90; p = .005), spotty calcification (OR, 1.86; 95%CI, 1.09-3.84; p = .012), MLA≤4.0 mm2 (OR, 3.32; 95%CI, 1.51-7.28; p = .003), and PB > 70% (OR, 4.59; 95%CI, 1.83-11.50; p = .001). Similar results were found when ALP was analyzed as a continuous variable or a category variate according to the cut-off value determined by the receiver operating characteristic curve analysis. Furthermore, the model including clinical factors and ALP significantly improved the predictive power for coronary calcification, spotty calcification, MLA≤4.0 mm2 , and PB > 70%. CONCLUSION: Our findings suggest that ALP may be a potential predictive biomarker for calcification and plaque vulnerability.

To investigate the epidemic profile and genetic diversity of porcine bocavirus (PBoV), 281 clinical samples, including 236 intestinal tissue samples and 45 fecal samples were collected from diarrheic piglets on 37 different pig farms in central China, and two SYBR Green I-based quantitative PCR assays were developed to detect PBoV1/2 and PBoV3/4/5, respectively. One hundred forty-eight (52.67%) of the 281 clinical samples were positive for PBoV1/2, 117 (41.63%) were positive for PBoV3/4/5, 55 (19.57%) were positive for both PBoV1/2 and PBoV3/4/5, and 86.49% (32/37) of the pig farms were positive for PBoV. Overall, the prevalence of PBoV was 74.73% (210/281) in central China. Subsequently, nearly full-length genomic sequences of two PBoV strains (designated CH/HNZM and PBoV-TY) from two different farms were determined. Phylogenetic analysis demonstrated that the two PBoV strains obtained in this study belonged to the PBoV G2 group and had a close relationship to 10 other PBoV G2 strains but differed genetically from PBoV G1, PBoV G3, and seven other bocaviruses. CH/HNZM and PBoV-TY were closely related to the PBoV strain GD18 (KJ755666), which may be derived from the PBoV strains 0912/2012 (MH558677) and 57AT-HU (KF206160) through recombination. Compared with reference strain ZJD (HM053694)-China, more amino acid variation was found in the NS1 proteins of CH/HNZM and PBoV-TY. These data extend our understanding of the molecular epidemiology and evolution of PBoV.

OBJECTIVES: To analyse the role of IS1216E in the dissemination of the phenicol-oxazolidinone-tetracycline resistance gene poxtA in an Enterococcus faecium clade A1 isolate. METHODS: MICs were determined by broth microdilution. The poxtA-positive isolate was typed by MLST. The two plasmids were characterized by PCR, conjugation, S1-PFGE, Southern blot hybridization and WGS analysis. The presence of translocatable units (TUs) was examined by PCR and sequencing. RESULTS: Isolate E1077 contains the 217661 bp conjugative plasmid pE1077-217 and the 23710 bp mobilizable plasmid pE1077-23. pE1077-217 harbours erm(B), aac(A)-aph(D), aadE, spw, lsa(E), lnu(B), aphA3 and dfrG, whereas pE1077-23 carries a Tn6657-like transposon containing poxtA and fexB. pE1077-23 was apparently formed by an IS1216E-mediated composite transposon-plasmid fusion event, involving a replicative transposition process. Conjugation experiments showed that pE1077-23 is mobilizable by pE1077-217. Moreover, a novel 31742 bp plasmid, pT-E1077-31, was found in a transconjugant. WGS analysis indicated that pT-E1077-31 was formed by the integration of a Tn6657-derived, IS1216E-based translocatable unit, which carried fexB and poxtA, into a copy of pE1077-23. CONCLUSIONS: This study showed the presence of two cointegrate formation events in the formation and spread of a poxtA/fexB-carrying plasmid in E. faecium. One was the integration of a transposon into a plasmid while the other was the integration of a TU into a different site of the same type of plasmid-borne transposon from which it originated. In both events, IS1216E played a major role, suggesting that IS1216E-mediated transposition and translocation processes aid the dissemination and persistence of important antimicrobial resistance genes, such as poxtA, among enterococci.

OBJECTIVES: To identify the genetic context and the transferability of the multiresistance gene lsa(E) in Listeria monocytogenes. METHODS: MICs were determined by broth microdilution. Transferability of lsa(E) was investigated by conjugation, electrotransformation and natural transformation. The lsa(E)-carrying plasmid was sequenced using the Illumina MiSeq and PacBio RSII platforms. The presence of translocatable units (TUs) was examined by PCR. RESULTS: The 85 555 bp non-conjugative multiresistance plasmid pNH1 from L. monocytogenes harboured nine antimicrobial resistance genes including a multiresistance gene cluster, consisting of the genes aphA3, erm(B), aadE, spw, lsa(E) and lnu(B), and in addition the genes dfrG, tet(S) and catA8 were also located on plasmid pNH1 The multiresistance gene cluster, and each of the genes tet(S), catA8 and cadA were flanked by IS1216 elements. PCR identified four types of TUs, consisting of either the multiresistance gene cluster and one copy of IS1216, the catA8 gene and one copy of IS1216, or both, but also the tet(S) gene and one copy of IS1216, respectively. Natural transformation into Streptococcus mutans UA159 yielded transformants that harboured a novel 13 208 bp transposon, designated Tn6659. This transposon consisted of the multiresistance gene cluster bounded by IS1216 copies. All transformants displayed elevated MICs of the respective antimicrobial agents. At the integration site in the transformants, 8 bp direct target duplications (5'-ATTCAAAC-3') were found immediately up- and downstream of Tn6659. CONCLUSIONS: To the best of our knowledge, this is the first report of this novel multiresistance gene cluster and the gene catA8, flanked by IS1216 elements located on a plasmid of L. monocytogenes. Moreover, a novel functionally active multiresistance transposon was identified.

To investigate the epidemic characteristics of porcine epidemic diarrhea virus (PEDV), 135 clinical samples (including intestinal tissues and feces) were collected from diseased piglets during outbreaks of diarrhea from 2015 to 2019 on farms in Henan and Shanxi provinces of China where swine had been immunized with attenuated PEDV (CV777). A total of 86 clinical samples (86/135, 63.7%) were positive for PEDV by RT-PCR, and subsequently, the complete spike (S) and ORF3 genes of 32 PEDV samples were sequenced. Phylogenetic analysis showed that the 32 PEDV strains obtained in this study belonged to group 2 (pandemic variant strains) and had a close relationship to 17 Chinese strains after 2010, two South Korean strains (KNU-1305 and KNU-1807), three American strains (PC22A-P140.BI, USA/Colorado/2013, and USA/OK10240-6/2017) and a Mexican strain (PEDV/MEX/QRO/02/2017), but differed genetically from a South Korean strain (SM98), a European strain (Br1/87), a Chinese strain (LZC), and a vaccine strain (CV777). G2-a subgroup strains were the dominant pandemic variant strains circulating in Henan and Shanxi provinces of China. Furthermore, a cross-recombination event was identified in the S region of the SX/TY2/2017 strain, and the putative parental strains were the epidemic strains CH/GDGZ/2012 and CH/YZ1/2015, identified in China in 2012 and 2015, respectively. These results provide further information about PEDV evolution, which could improve our understanding of the circulation of PEDV in Henan and Shanxi provinces. This information will also be helpful for developing new strategies for prevention and control of variant strains.

OBJECTIVES: To investigate the presence and transferability of the poxtA gene and identify the genetic context of poxtA in two enterococcal plasmids from swine. METHODS: MICs were determined by broth microdilution. A total of 114 porcine enterococci with florfenicol MICs of ≥16 mg/L were screened for the presence of the poxtA gene by PCR. Transferability of poxtA was investigated by conjugation and transformation. The poxtA-carrying plasmids were completely sequenced using the Illumina Miseq and PacBio RSII platform. The presence of circular intermediates was examined by inverse PCR. RESULTS: The poxtA gene was present in 57.9% (66/114) of the florfenicol-resistant porcine enterococci. Two poxtA-carrying plasmids, pE035 and pE076, were identified. The conjugative 121524 bp plasmid pE035 carried poxtA and optrA along with the resistance genes erm(A), erm(B), aac(A)-aph(D), lnu(G), fexB, dfrG and bcrABDR. Three mobile elements, comprising a mobile dfrG locus, a mobile bcrABDR locus and an unconventional circularizable structure containing aac(A)-aph(D), were located on this plasmid and all proved to be active by inverse PCR. The non-conjugative 19832 bp plasmid pE076 only carried poxtA and fexB. After transfer, both the transconjugant and the transformant displayed elevated MICs of the respective antimicrobial agents. CONCLUSIONS: To the best of our knowledge, this is the first report of the co-location of the oxazolidinone resistance genes poxtA and optrA on a conjugative multiresistance plasmid from a porcine enterococcal strain. In addition, the presence of three mobile elements in such a plasmid will aid in the persistence and dissemination of poxtA and optrA among enterococci.

OBJECTIVES: To investigate the presence and transfer of the oxazolidinone/phenicol resistance gene optrA and identify the genetic elements involved in the horizontal transfer of the optrA gene in Streptococcus suis. METHODS: A total of 237 S. suis isolates were screened for the presence of the optrA gene by PCR. Whole-genome DNA of three optrA-positive strains was completely sequenced using the Illumina MiSeq and Pacbio RSII platforms. MICs were determined by broth microdilution. Transferability of the optrA gene in S. suis was investigated by conjugation. The presence of circular intermediates was examined by inverse PCR. RESULTS: The optrA gene was present in 11.8% (28/237) of the S. suis strains. In three strains, the optrA gene was flanked by two copies of IS1216 elements in the same orientation, located either on a prophage or on ICESa2603-family integrative and conjugative elements (ICEs), including one tandem ICE. In one isolate, the optrA-carrying ICE transferred with a frequency of 2.1 × 10-8. After the transfer, the transconjugant displayed elevated MICs of the respective antimicrobial agents. Inverse PCRs revealed that circular intermediates of different sizes were formed in the three optrA-carrying strains, containing one copy of the IS1216E element and the optrA gene alone or in combination with other resistance genes. CONCLUSIONS: A prophage and two ICESa2603-family ICEs (including one tandem ICE) associated with the optrA gene were identified in S. suis. The association of the optrA gene with the IS1216E elements and its location on either a prophage or ICEs will aid its horizontal transfer.

Image encryption is one of the essential tasks in image security. In this paper, we propose a novel approach that integrates a hyperchaotic system, pixel-level Dynamic Filtering, DNA computing, and operations on 3D Latin Cubes, namely DFDLC, for image encryption. Specifically, the approach consists of five stages: (1) a newly proposed 5D hyperchaotic system with two positive Lyapunov exponents is applied to generate a pseudorandom sequence; (2) for each pixel in an image, a filtering operation with different templates called dynamic filtering is conducted to diffuse the image; (3) DNA encoding is applied to the diffused image and then the DNA-level image is transformed into several 3D DNA-level cubes; (4) Latin cube is operated on each DNA-level cube; and (5) all the DNA cubes are integrated and decoded to a 2D cipher image. Extensive experiments are conducted on public testing images, and the results show that the proposed DFDLC can achieve state-of-the-art results in terms of several evaluation criteria.

BACKGROUND: IL-27, a member of the IL-12 family, has been involved in maternal tolerance to the foetus and successful pregnancy. Growing evidences indicate that IL-27 plays a crucial role in pregnancy. Aim We carried out the present study in order to investigate whether polymorphisms in the IL27 are associated with the risk for CHDs, including atrial septal defect and ventricular septal defect. Patients and methods We conducted this case-control study among 247 atrial septal defect patients, 150 ventricular septal defect patients, and 368 healthy controls in a Chinese population using polymerase chain reaction-restriction fragment length polymorphism assay. RESULTS: Significantly increased risk for atrial septal defect (p=0.001, OR=1.490, 95% CI=1.178-1.887) and ventricular septal defect (p=0.004, OR=1.502, 95% CI=1.139-1.976) was observed to be associated with the allele G of rs153109. In a dominant model, we have also observed that increased susceptibilities for atrial septal defect (p<0.01, OR=1.89, 95% CI=1.35-2.63) and ventricular septal defect (p<0.01, OR=2.50, 95% CI=1.67-3.85) were statistically associated with rs153109; however, no association was found between CHD risk and rs17855750 in the IL27 gene. CONCLUSION: The 153109 of the IL27 gene may be associated with the susceptibility to CHD, including atrial septal defect and ventricular septal defect.
