RESUMEN

This paper reports on the development of an open-source image analysis software 'pipeline' dedicated to petrographic microscopy. Using conventional rock thin sections and images from a standard polarising microscope, the pipeline can classify minerals and subgrains into objects and obtain information about optic-axis orientation. Five metamorphic rocks were chosen to test and illustrate the method. Thin sections were imaged using reflected and cross- and plane-polarised transmitted light. Images were taken at different angles of the polariser and analyser (360° with 10° steps), both with and without the full-lambda plate. The resulting image stacks were analysed with a modular pipeline for optic-axis mapping (POAM). POAM consists of external and internal software packages that register, segment, classify, and interpret the visible light spectra using object-based image analysis (OBIAS). The mapped fields-of-view and grain orientation stereonets of interest are presented in the context of whole-slide images. Two innovations are reported. First, we used hierarchical tree region merging on blended multimodal images to classify individual grains of rock-forming minerals into objects. Second, we assembled a new optical mineralogy algorithm chain that identifies the mineral slow axis orientation. The c-axis orientation results were verified with scanning electron microscopy electron backscattered diffraction (SEM-EBSD) data. For quartz (uniaxial) in a granite mylonite the test yielded excellent correspondence of c-axis azimuth and good agreement for inclination. For orthorhombic orthopyroxene in a deformed garnet harzburgite, POAM produced acceptable results for slow axis azimuth. In addition, the method identified slight anisotropy in garnet that would not be appreciated by traditional microscopy. We propose that our method is ideally suited for two commonly performed tasks in mineralogy. First, for mineral grain classification of entire thin sections scans on blended images to provide automated modal abundance estimates and grain size distribution. Second, for prospective fields of view of interest, POAM can rapidly generate slow axis crystal orientation maps from multiangle image stacks on conventionally prepared thin sections for targeting detailed SEM-EBSD studies.

RESUMEN

Recently, various research studies have been developed to address communication sensors for Unmanned Aerial Systems (UASs). In particular, when pondering control difficulties, communication is a crucial component. To this end, strengthening a control algorithm with redundant linking sensors ensures the overall system works accurately, even if some components fail. This paper proposes a novel approach to integrate several sensors and actuators for a heavy Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV). Additionally, a cutting-edge Robust Thrust Vectoring Control (RTVC) technique is designed to control various communicative modules during a flying mission and converge the attitude system to stability. The results of the study demonstrate that even though RTVC is not frequently utilized, it works as well as cascade PID controllers, particularly for multi-rotors with mounted flaps, and could be perfectly functional in UAVs powered by thermal engines to increase the autonomy since the propellers cannot be used as controller surfaces.

RESUMEN

This paper deals with the problems and the solutions of fast coverage path planning (CPP) for multiple UAVs. Through this research, the problem is solved and analyzed with both a software framework and algorithm. The implemented algorithm generates a back-and-forth path based on the onboard sensor footprint. In addition, three methods are proposed for the individual path assignment: simple bin packing trajectory planner (SIMPLE-BINPAT); bin packing trajectory planner (BINPAT); and Powell optimized bin packing trajectory planner (POWELL-BINPAT). The three methods use heuristic algorithms, linear sum assignment, and minimization techniques to optimize the planning task. Furthermore, this approach is implemented with applicable software to be easily used by first responders such as police and firefighters. In addition, simulation and real-world experiments were performed using UAVs with RGB and thermal cameras. The results show that POWELL-BINPAT generates optimal UAV paths to complete the entire mission in minimum time. Furthermore, the computation time for the trajectory generation task decreases compared to other techniques in the literature. This research is part of a real project funded by the H2020 FASTER Project, with grant ID: 833507.

RESUMEN

This paper proposes the design of the communications, control systems, and navigation algorithms of a multi-UAV system focused on remote sensing operations. A new controller based on a compensator and a nominal controller is designed to dynamically regulate the UAVs' attitude. The navigation system addresses the multi-region coverage trajectory planning task using a new approach to solve the TSP-CPP problem. The navigation algorithms were tested theoretically, and the combination of the proposed navigation techniques and control strategy was simulated through the Matlab SimScape platform to optimize the controller's parameters over several iterations. The results reveal the robustness of the controller and optimal performance of the route planner.

RESUMEN

One of the most relevant problems related to Unmanned Aerial Vehicle's (UAV) autonomous navigation for industrial inspection is localization or pose estimation relative to significant elements of the environment. This paper analyzes two different approaches in this regard, focusing on its application to unstructured scenarios where objects of considerable size are present, such as a truck, a wind tower, an airplane, a building, etc. The presented methods require a previously developed Computer-Aided Design (CAD) model of the main object to be inspected. The first approach is based on an occupancy map built from a horizontal projection of this CAD model and the Adaptive Monte Carlo Localization (AMCL) algorithm to reach convergence by considering the likelihood field observation model between the 2D projection of 3D sensor data and the created map. The second approach uses a point cloud prior map of the 3D CAD model and a scan-matching algorithm based on the Iterative Closest Point Algorithm (ICP) and the Unscented Kalman Filter (UKF). The presented approaches have been extensively evaluated using simulated as well as previously recorded real flight data. We focus on aircraft inspection as a test example, but our results and conclusions can be directly extended to other applications. To support this assertion, a truck inspection has been performed. Our tests reflected that creating a 2D or 3D map from a standard CAD model and using a 3D laser scan on the created maps can optimize the processing time, resources and improve robustness. The techniques used to segment unexpected objects in 2D maps improved the performance of AMCL. In addition, we showed that moving around locations with relevant geometry after take-off when running AMCL enabled faster convergence and high accuracy. Hence, it could be used as an initial position estimation method for other localization algorithms. The ICP-NL method works well in environments with elements other than the object to inspect, but it can provide better results if some techniques to segment the new objects are applied. Furthermore, the proposed ICP-NL scan-matching method together with UKF performed faster, in a more robust manner, than NDT. Moreover, it is not affected by flight height. However, ICP-NL error may still be too high for applications requiring increased accuracy.

RESUMEN

Background: New direct-acting antiviral agents (DAAs) have shown great efficacy and tolerability in clinical trials and real-life cohorts. However, data are scarce regarding efficacy and safety in cirrhotic HCV/HIV-coinfected patients. Methods: A multicentre prospective analysis was performed in 13 Spanish hospitals, including all cirrhotic HCV/HIV-coinfected patients starting DAA combinations from January to December 2015. Sustained virological response 12 weeks after treatment (SVR12) was analysed. Withdrawal due to toxicity and/or hepatic decompensation and change in liver stiffness measurement (LSM) after HCV treatment were evaluated. Results: Patients (n = 170) were mostly male (n = 125; 74.3%) with the following HCV genotype (Gt) distribution: Gt-1a, 68 (40%); Gt-1b, 21 (12.4%); Gt-4, 47 (27.6%); and Gt-3, 26 (15.3%). Baseline median LSM was 20.6 kPa (IQR 16.1-33.7) and log10 HCV-RNA 6.1 IU/mL (IQR 5.7-6.5). Most patients had a Child-Pugh class A score (n = 127; 74.7%) and 28 (16.5%) had prior hepatic decompensation. There were 89 (52.4%) pretreated patients with 40.4% (n = 36) of null responders. Preferred regimens were as follows: sofosbuvir/ledipasvir + ribavirin, 43 (25.3%) patients; sofosbuvir + simeprevir + ribavirin, 34 (20%); sofosbuvir/ledipasvir, 26 (15.3%) and sofosbuvir + daclatasvir + ribavirin, 25 (14.7%). Overall SVR12 was 92.9% (158/170), without differences between genotypes. Pretreated patients had lower SVR12 rates compared with naive (88.8% versus 97.5%; P = 0.026). Treatment failures were as follows: 7 (4.1%) relapses; 2 (1.2%) lost to follow-up; 1 (0.6%) toxicity-related discontinuation; 1 (0.6%) hepatic decompensation; and 1 (0.6%) viral breakthrough. On-treatment hepatic decompensation was recorded in four (2.4%) patients (encephalopathy and ascites, two each). Paired LSM in 33 patients showed a decrease of 5.6 kPa (95% CI 1.8-9.2; P = 0.004). Conclusions: In our cohort of cirrhotic HCV/HIV-coinfected patients, DAAs were highly safe and efficacious. Viral eradication was associated with a significant decrease in liver stiffness.

RESUMEN

BACKGROUND: None of the HIV T-cell vaccine candidates that have reached advanced clinical testing have been able to induce protective T cell immunity. A major reason for these failures may have been suboptimal T cell immunogen designs. METHODS: To overcome this problem, we used a novel immunogen design approach that is based on functional T cell response data from more than 1,000 HIV-1 clade B and C infected individuals and which aims to direct the T cell response to the most vulnerable sites of HIV-1. RESULTS: Our approach identified 16 regions in Gag, Pol, Vif and Nef that were relatively conserved and predominantly targeted by individuals with reduced viral loads. These regions formed the basis of the HIVACAT T-cell Immunogen (HTI) sequence which is 529 amino acids in length, includes more than 50 optimally defined CD4(+) and CD8(+) T-cell epitopes restricted by a wide range of HLA class I and II molecules and covers viral sites where mutations led to a dramatic reduction in viral replicative fitness. In both, C57BL/6 mice and Indian rhesus macaques immunized with an HTI-expressing DNA plasmid (DNA.HTI) induced broad and balanced T-cell responses to several segments within Gag, Pol, and Vif. DNA.HTI induced robust CD4(+) and CD8(+) T cell responses that were increased by a booster vaccination using modified virus Ankara (MVA.HTI), expanding the DNA.HTI induced response to up to 3.2% IFN-γ T-cells in macaques. HTI-specific T cells showed a central and effector memory phenotype with a significant fraction of the IFN-γ(+) CD8(+) T cells being Granzyme B(+) and able to degranulate (CD107a(+)). CONCLUSIONS: These data demonstrate the immunogenicity of a novel HIV-1 T cell vaccine concept that induced broadly balanced responses to vulnerable sites of HIV-1 while avoiding the induction of responses to potential decoy targets that may divert effective T-cell responses towards variable and less protective viral determinants.

RESUMEN

BACKGROUND: The link between infection with hepatitis C virus (HCV) and personality disorders (PD) has not been investigated in detail. The aim of this study was to compare the effectiveness of HCV treatment in prisoners with and without PD. METHODS: We performed a prospective multicentre study in inmates from 25 Spanish prisons who had been treated with pegylated interferon alfa-2a plus ribavirin in 2011. PD diagnosis was based on the Personality Diagnostic Questionnaire-4+. We calculated adjusted Odds Ratios (AOR) and 95 % confidence intervals (95 % CI) using logistic regression. RESULTS: The sample included 236 patients (mean age: 40.3 years, 92.8 % male, 79.2 % intravenous drug users, and 26.3 % HIV-coinfected). The prevalence of PD was 72.5 %. 32.2 % of patients discontinued treatment; this percentage was higher in patients with HCV genotypes 1/4 (AOR = 3.55; CI:1.76-7.18) and those without PD (AOR = 2.51; 1.23-5.11). Treatment discontinuation was mainly for penitentiary reasons (40.3 %): release or transfer between prisons. The rate of sustained viral response (SVR) was 52.1 % by ITT and 76.9 % by observed treatment (OT). SVR was higher among patients with genotype 2 or 3, and those with low baseline HCV-RNA. We did not observe any differences between individuals with and without PD in term of SVR, HCV genotype or HIV infection. CONCLUSIONS: Our results support the safety and clinical effectiveness of the treatment of chronic HCV infection in correctional facilities, both in prisoners with PD and those without. Our data support non-discrimination between patients with and without PD when offering treatment for HCV infection to prison inmates. TRIAL REGISTRATION: Trial registration number (TRN) NCT01900886 . RESUMEN

BACKGROUND: The aim of this study was to determine the evolution of HIV infection, gonorrhea, syphilis and lymphogranuloma venereum (LGV), and their epidemiological characteristics in Barcelona city. METHODS: Population-based incidence study of all newly occurring diagnoses of HIV infection, syphilis, gonorrhea and LGV detected in Barcelona between January 2007 and December 2011. A descriptive analysis was performed. The annual incidence rates per 100,000 inhabitants were calculated by sex, sexual conduct and educational level. To estimate global sex-specific rates we used the Barcelona city census; for the calculation of rates by sexual conduct and educational level we used estimates of the Barcelona Health Interview Survey. Trends were analysed using the chi-squared test for linear trend. RESULTS: HIV. 66.8 % of the HIV cases were men who had sex with men (MSM). The incidence rates in MSM over the study period were from 692.67/100,000 to 909.88/100,000 inh. Syphilis. 74.2 % of the syphilis cases were MSM. The incidence rates in MSM were from 224.9/100,000 to 891.97/100,000 inh. and the MSM with a university education ranged from 196.3/100,000 to 1020.8/100,000. Gonorrhea. 45.5 % of the gonorrhea cases were MSM. The incidence rates in MSM were from 164.24/100,000 to 404.79/100,000 inh. and the MSM with university education ranged from 176.7/100,000 to 530.1/100,000 inh.. Lymphogranuloma venereum (LGV). 95.3 % of the LGV cases are MSM. The incidence rates in MSM were from 24.99/100,000 to 282.99/100,000 inh. and the MSM with university education ranged from 9.3/100,000 to 265/100,000 inh. CONCLUSION: An increase in cases of STI was observed. These STI mainly affected MSM with a university education. Continuing to monitor changes in the epidemiology of STI, and identifying the most affected groups should permit redesigning preventive programs, with the goal of finding the most efficient way to reach these population groups.

RESUMEN

The risk of HIV in the Latino population in the United States is increasing. This population has a disproportionate number of new HIV cases, with the largest burden in the seventeen southern states. The purpose of this study is to assess risk factors for HIV among HIV-positive Latinos in care in New Orleans, Louisiana, through a retrospective chart review. The Chi square test of proportions, Student's t-test, and Wilcox rank sum test were used to test differences by sex and immigration status. Men were more likely to be incarcerated, use drugs, and drink alcohol. Undocumented Latinos were younger and had increased language barriers. Legally documented participants were more likely to use drugs, have a psychiatric diagnosis, and syphilis. Understanding the complex risk factors that surround HIV in the Latino population is useful for the development of effective and comprehensive prevention programs.

RESUMEN

BACKGROUND: The diagnosis and treatment of chronic hepatitis C are major concerns in prisons. OBJECTIVES: The aim of this randomized clinical trial was to determine the extent to which directly observed therapy (DOT) improved the efficacy of the standard treatment for chronic hepatitis C in the prison setting. PATIENTS AND METHODS: A randomized clinical trial was carried out to evaluate the efficacy of a DOT compared with a self-administered therapy in prison inmates who underwent standard treatment for chronic hepatitis C (based on pegylated interferon alpha-2a and ribavirin). RESULTS: A total of 252 inmates were randomized, of which 244 were analyzed: 109 in the DOT group and 135 in the non-DOT group. The mean age was 35.88 years (SD 6.54), 94.3% were men, 72.1% reported intravenous drug use, 21.3% were HIV co-infected, and 55.3% had genotype 1 or 4. The patients received the study treatment for a median time of 33.9 weeks in the overall sample. Sustained virological response was achieved in 60.6% (95% CI, 51.17-69.22) of the DOT group and in 65.9% (95% CI, 57.59-73.38) of the standard therapy group (risk ratio=0.92; 95% CI, 0.76-1.12). The mean proportion of patients continuing the treatment was 83% (SD=31). Adverse events were reported in 93.4% of the patients, and serious adverse events were reported in 8.2%, with no significant differences between groups. CONCLUSIONS: Sustained virological response was remarkably high, although there were no differences between groups, probably due to high treatment adherence.

RESUMEN

OBJECTIVES: To review the homogeneity of pharmacological prescription and control measures applied in cases of scabies in prisons in Catalonia. MATERIAL AND METHOD: Observational, multicenter, and retrospective study. Cases of scabies from March 01, 2021 and March 01, 2022 were analyzed according to the International Alliance for the Control of Scabies (IACS) 2020 criteria: a) confirmed cases; b) clinically probable cases; and c) suspected cases.Epidemiological, clinical, therapeutic and regimental control variables were collected. We checked whether the interventions were homogeneous in each site. The mean and standard deviation were used as continuous variables and percentages and confidence interval (95%) for discrete variables. The Chi-square test was used to determine statistical association. RESULTS: 269 cases were detected (21.2% confirmed, 50.2% clinically probable and 28.6% suspected). 61.3% were treated with permethrin, 18.6% with ivermectin and 20.1% with both. 27.1% of the cases were withdrawn. There were no significant in-site differences in the study of contacts, isolation and treatment of clothing and belongings, but there were significant differences in the prescription of drugs (P <0.001), duration of treatment (P <0.001) and disinfection of the cell (P <0.001). DISCUSSION: The number of detected cases is estimated to be high, and the majority (71.4%) confirmed or clinically probable. Control measures are homogeneous, except for cell disinfection, which was conventional in 59.1%. Pharmacological treatment and its duration varied between prisons. It would be advisable to establish a protocol to standardize control measures applied to new cases in the centers of Catalonia and subsequently evaluate their efficacy.

RESUMEN

To date, strategies aiming to modulate cell to extracellular matrix (ECM) interactions during organoid derivation remain largely unexplored. Here renal decellularized ECM (dECM) hydrogels are fabricated from porcine and human renal cortex as biomaterials to enrich cell-to-ECM crosstalk during the onset of kidney organoid differentiation from human pluripotent stem cells (hPSCs). Renal dECM-derived hydrogels are used in combination with hPSC-derived renal progenitor cells to define new approaches for 2D and 3D kidney organoid differentiation, demonstrating that in the presence of these biomaterials the resulting kidney organoids exhibit renal differentiation features and the formation of an endogenous vascular component. Based on these observations, a new method to produce kidney organoids with vascular-like structures is achieved through the assembly of hPSC-derived endothelial-like organoids with kidney organoids in 3D. Major readouts of kidney differentiation and renal cell morphology are assessed exploiting these culture platforms as new models of nephrogenesis. Overall, this work shows that exploiting cell-to-ECM interactions during the onset of kidney differentiation from hPSCs facilitates and optimizes current approaches for kidney organoid derivation thereby increasing the utility of these unique cell culture platforms for personalized medicine.

RESUMEN

AIM: To analyze the adherence to the "Guidelines for the treatment of HIV-infected adults" among HIV-infected prison inmates. METHODS: A cross-sectional study was conducted in 2010 in the Quatre Camins Prison (Barcelona, Spain). Epidemiological, clinical and therapeutic variables were collected. We verified whether antiretroviral therapy (ART) met the Guidelines and analyzed the variables associated with compliance using bivariate and multivariate analysis. RESULTS: There were a total of 202 HIV infected prison inmates, 83.2% of whom were on ART. An undetectable viral load (VL) was observed in 80.4% of treated patients. The large majority (86.1%) met the guidelines, and 42.9% of non-compliance to guidelines was because the patients refused ART. More undetectable VL (P=.001; ORA: 4,30, 95%CI: 1,85 to 10.0) was found in those patients following the guidelines. CONCLUSION: Compliance with the guidelines is high, and is significantly associated with undetectable VL. We suggest evaluating the quality of prescriptions periodically, and to correct them if needed.

RESUMEN

Climate change might affect energy production and therefore the energy security of a country or region. This situation may impact renewable energy sources such as hydro power, leading to consequences on energy transition strategies. This might be critical in sensitive regions to climate change, one of them being the Caribe and northern South America. Since there are numerous energy systems based on sensitive technologies worldwide, it is necessary to introduce techniques to analyze the effects of climate change on different possible energy transition paths. The goal of this study is to develop and assess a method to analyze one of the most critical effects faced by climate change for societies worldwide: the sensitivity of the energy systems to climate change. This is especially critical in developing countries, in locations where temperatures will strongly increase in the following years. To assess this effect, this study proposes a vulnerability index (VI) to evaluate the vulnerability of an on-grid electricity system to climate change at the national and regional scales. This index was assessed using a Monte-Carlo method for uncertainty. The case of Colombia, a country with a system based on hydropower (> 70%) is used to illustrate the method. VI is based on variables related to climate change, the energy matrix, and vulnerability. Results show that the regions with the larger vulnerability correspond to the more energy-demanding ones. The VI for these regions is greater than 50% of the maximum possible vulnerability; meanwhile, the vulnerability of the whole country was estimated as 43%.

RESUMEN

Hepatitis C virus (HCV) reinfection may hamper HCV elimination in prisons. We aimed to (i) determine the reinfection rate in people treated for HCV in Catalan prisons, (ii) measure reinfection in people entering prisons, and (iii) characterize the molecular epidemiology of HCV in prisons and people who inject drugs (PWID) in the community. Re-HCV was a prospective study in eight prisons (2019-2020) including two groups: (1) people cured with treatment in prison and followed-up every 6 months, and (2) people testing HCV-RNA positive at incarceration. Bio-behavioral data were collected. HCV isolates were sequenced and phylogenetically analyzed with those of PWID in the community. Reinfection follow-up after treatment was achieved in 97 individuals (103.05 person-years). Two reinfections were detected, resulting in an incidence ≤ 10/100 person-years. Among people entering prison, 2% (359/17,732) were viremic, of which 334 (93.0%) were included, and 44 (13.5%) presented with reinfection (84.7% being PWID). Frequently, HCV isolates in prisons and PWID in the community were phylogenetically related. Although HCV reinfection is low after treatment, it is common in people entering Catalan prisons. To maintain a low HCV prevalence in prisons, harm-reduction services and test-and-treat programs for PWID should be strengthened both inside and outside prisons.

RESUMEN

BACKGROUND AND AIMS: The prevalence of chronic non-communicable diseases, particularly metabolic syndrome (MetS), has increased among the prison population. Nevertheless, we have limited data on metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD), the hepatic manifestation of this syndrome. We aimed to investigate the prevalence and risk factors of MASLD and MASLD-associated liver fibrosis in the penitentiary population in Catalonia, Spain. METHOD: A cross-sectional observational study involving eight penitentiary centers. Participants had at least one metabolic disorder and were at a closed-regimen penitentiary. Individuals with concomitant liver diseases and/or alcohol risk consumption were excluded. Significant fibrosis and MASLD were defined as liver stiffness ≥8 kPa and a controlled attenuation parameter ≥275 dB/m by vibration-controlled transient elastography (VCTE), respectively. After exclusions, metabolic inmates with VCTE were analyzed. Logistic regression analysis was performed to identify predictors of MASLD and MASLD-associated significant fibrosis. RESULTS: Out of the 4338 inmates studied, 1290 (29.7%) had metabolic disorders, and 646 (14.9%) underwent VCTE. The mean age was 48.0 years (SD 12.1), and 89.5% were male. MASLD prevalence was 33.9%. Significant fibrosis and MASLD-associated significant fibrosis were found in 16.4% and 9.4% of inmates, respectively. In the multivariate analysis, T2D, waist circumference, MetS, and higher ALT values were identified as independent risk factors for MASLD and MASLD-associated significant fibrosis amongst the prison population. CONCLUSIONS: Metabolic disorders including MASLD are highly prevalent among inmates. The prevalence of significant fibrosis seems notably higher than that of the general population, underscoring the need for targeted screening programs and therapeutic interventions in the incarcerated population.

RESUMEN

In this study, we aimed to evaluate the frequency of midpalatal maturational stages in a Chilean urban sample of adolescents, post-adolescents and young adults, associated with chronological age and sex, by assessing CBCT scan images. Tomographic images in axial sections of the midpalatal sutures from 116 adolescents and young adults (61 females and 55 males, 10-25 years old) were classified according to their morphologic characteristics in five maturational stages (A, B, C, D and E), as proposed by Angelieri et al. The sample was divided into three groups: adolescents, post-adolescents and young adults. Three previously calibrated examiners (radiologist, orthodontist and general dentist) analyzed and classified the images. Stages A, B and C were considered to be an open midpalatal suture, and D and E were considered to be a partially or totally closed midpalatal suture. The most frequent stage of maturation was D (37.9%), followed by C (24%) and E (19.6%). The possibility of finding closed midpalatal sutures in individuals of 10 to 15 years was 58.4%, and in subjects aged 16 to 20 and 21 to 25 years, it was 51.7% and 61.7%, respectively. In males, Stages D and E were present in 45.4%; for females, this prevalence was 68.8%. Individual assessment of the midpalatal suture in each patient is of crucial importance before making the clinical decision of which is the best maxillary expansion method. Due to the extensive calibration and training required, it is advisable to always request a report from a radiologist. Individual evaluation with 3D imaging is recommended because of the great variability observed in the ossification of midpalatal sutures in adolescents, post-adolescents and young adults.

RESUMEN

Background: There are validated questionnaires in Spanish that evaluate the factors that influence organ donation, but they are not designed for the open population or do not delve into various aspects such as the one proposed. Objective: Validate an instrument to evaluate the factors that influence organ donation in Mexico. Material and methods: Phase 1: Development of the instrument. Translation into Spanish of the questionnaire "Factors Inffluencing Organ Donation in Qatar", adapted by experts in donation and clinimetry. Simultaneously, the definitive version of the questionnaire "Factors that Influence Organ Donation" (FIDO) and the questionnaire "International Donor Collaborative Project" were applied to patients, relatives and staff of a tertiary hospital in Puebla, Mexico. Mind a week after 200 respondents. Cronbach's Alpha (AC) (internal consistency), Intraclass Correlation Coefficient (ICC) (external consistency), and Phi (Phi) and Chi square Coefficient (concurrent validity in intention to donate) were obtained. Results: AC and ICC by domain: Knowledge 0.625 and 0.372; Attitudes 0.776 and 0.761; Beliefs 0.649 and 0.633; Intentions 0.126 and 0.123; Phi: 0.976, Chi square: 2.358 (p = 0.125). Conclusions: The FIDO questionnaire is valid and consistent to assess knowledge, attitudes, beliefs and intentions in organ donation in the general Mexican population.
