INTRODUCTION: Ischemic cerebral stroke initiates a complex cascade of pathophysiological events, involving various forms of molecular shifts and edema. Early intervention is pivotal in minimizing tissue loss and improving clinical outcomes. This study explores the temporal and spatial evolution of tissue sodium concentration (TSC) in acute ischemic lesions after acute therapy using 23Na-MRI in addition to conventional 1H-MRI. METHODS: Prospectively, from examined 58 patients with acute ischemic stroke with a combined 1H/23Na-MRI within 72 h of symptom onset after receiving acute therapy, 31 patients were included in the evaluation of this study. After co-registration of the 23Na-MRI images to the morphological 1H-MRI images, manual segmentation of the ischemic lesions was performed, and the ADC and TSC measurements were quantified and correlated with the time of onset and lesion volume. RESULTS: The mean TSC in ischemic lesions correlated positively with lesion volume (r = 0.52, p = 0.002) and showed a significant association with the time of stroke onset (r = 0.8, p < 0.001). Patients who were treated only with intravenous rtPA showed homogenous sodium signal intensity in the ischemic lesions, whereas the patients who received mechanical recanalization exhibited distinctive sodium signal intensity patterns with focal significant TSC differences. CONCLUSION: The integration of 1H- and 23Na-MRI provides a nuanced understanding of temporal and spatial changes due to different types of edema in ischemic stroke lesions following acute treatment. Further exploration of these findings may enhance our understanding of stroke pathophysiology and guide personalized therapeutic interventions.

BACKGROUND: This study's purposes were to evaluate the impact of biological therapies on outcomes in patients with severe asthma (SA) and chronic rhinosinusitis (CRS) and to compare these effects among those with NP (CRSwNP) versus those without NP (CRSsNP) in the "real-world" setting in Saudi Arabian patients. METHODS: From March to September 2022, a retrospective observational cohort study was undertaken at the severe asthma clinics of the Armed Forces Hospital-Southern Region (AFHSR) and King Khalid University Hospital, Abha, Saudi Arabia, to delineate the effects of dupilumab therapy. Outcomes were assessed, including clinical outcomes, FEV1, and laboratory findings before and one year after dupilumab. Post-therapy effects were compared between CRSwNP and CRSsNP. RESULTS: Fifty subjects were enrolled, with a mean age of 46.56. There were 27 (54%) females and 23(46%) males. Significant improvements in clinical parameters (frequency of asthma exacerbations and hospitalizations, the use of OCs, anosmia, SNOTT-22, and the ACT), FEV1, and laboratory ones (serum IgE and eosinophilic count) were observed 6 and 12 months after using dupilumab (p < 0.001), respectively. However, after 12 months of dupilumab therapy, there were no significant differences between those with and without NP with regards to clinical (anosmia, ACT, and OCs use), laboratory (eosinophilic count, serum IgE level) parameters, and FEV1%. CONCLUSIONS: Patients with CRS experienced significant improvements in clinical, FEV1, and laboratory outcomes after dupilumab therapy. However, these improvements were not maintained when comparing CRSwNP with CRSsNP. There were no significant differences between those with and without NP regarding ACT and OCs use or laboratory (eosinophilic count, serum IgE level) parameters. Further prospective multicenter studies are warranted.

OBJECTIVES: To compare functional outcomes and complication rates of anterolateral advancement pharyngoplasty (ALA) versus barbed reposition pharyngoplasty (BRP) in the treatment of obstructive sleep apnea patients with palatal and lateral pharyngeal wall collapse. STUDY DESIGN: Prospective study. SETTING: University hospitals. SUBJECTS AND METHODS: Forty-six patients were included in this study. Patients were divided into two groups randomly, group 1 (23 cases) underwent anterolateral advancement pharyngoplasty and group 2 (23 cases) underwent barbed relocation pharyngoplasty. According to the following criteria: both sex, age between 18 and 65 years, body mass index ≤ 32 kg/m2, Friedman stage II or III, type I Fujita, nocturnal polysomnography study diagnostic for OSA, retropalatal and lateral pharyngeal wall collapse, diagnosis with flexible nasoendoscopy during a Muller's maneuver based on a 5-point scale and drug-induced sleep endoscopy. Patients who suffered from retroglossal airway collapse were rolled out. RESULTS: Apnea-hypopnea index decreased from 27.50 ± 11.56 to 11.22 ± 7.63 (P ≤ .001) in group 1 and from 33.18 ± 10.94 to 12.38 ± 6.77 (P ≤ .001) in group 2. Retropalatal posterior airway space increased from 9.84 ± 1.29 mm to 21.48 ± 2.8 mm (P ≤ .001) in group 1 and increased from 10.26 ± 1.2 mm to 22.86 ± 2.62 mm (P ≤ .001) in group 2. Retropalatal space volume increased from 1.9 ± 0.68 cm3 to 2.75 ± 0.7 cm3 (P ≤ .001) in group 1 and increased from 1.96 ± 0.88 cm3 to 2.82 ± 0.83 cm3 (P ≤ .001) in group 2. Surgical success was 86.95% in group 1 compared to 82.6% in group 2. CONCLUSIONS: Both techniques appear to be effective with a high surgical success rate in the treatment of OSA patients with retropalatal and lateral pharyngeal wall collapse.

RESUMEN

This article reports a comparative prospective study aimed to explore and compare nurses' perceptions of bedside clinical handover in 3 different settings (emergency unit, ICU, and medical ward). Results revealed that the participant nurses' perceptions varied significantly for different aspects of the handover process. Our data demonstrate department-specific variations in perceptions related to the adequacy, organization, relevance, availability of charts, use of charts for review, ease of following the information, and timeliness of the information.

This study provides a comprehensive analysis of the potential impact of hydrothermal pretreatment (HTP) on municipal thickened waste-activated sludge (TWAS) and its integration with anaerobic digestion (AD). The research demonstrates that HTP conditions (170 °C, 3 bars for 30 min) can increase the solubilization of macromolecular organic compounds by 41%, which enhances biodegradability in semicontinuous bioreactors. This treatment also results in a 50% reduction in chemical oxygen demand (COD) and a 63% increase in the destruction of volatile solids (VS). The combination of HTP with AD significantly boosts methane yields by 51%, reaching 176 ml/g COD, and improves the digestate dewaterability, doubling the solid content in the dewatered cake. However, a higher polymer dose is required compared to conventional AD. Microbial community analysis correlates the observed performance and alterations; it indicates that HTP enhances resilience to stress conditions such as ammonia toxicity. This comprehensive study provides valuable insights into the transition from wastewater treatment plants (WWTPs) to resource recovery facilities (RRF) in line with circular economy principles.

BACKGROUND: There are significant food safety risks associated with wheat spoilage due to fungal growth and mycotoxin contamination. Nevertheless, a few studies have examined how stored wheat grain microbial communities and mycotoxins vary in different storage conditions. In this study, changes in deoxynivalenol (DON) and deoxynivalenol-3-glucoside (D3G) content were measured with ultra-high-performance liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (UHPLC-MS/MS), and an amplicon sequence analysis of fungi was performed on stored wheat grains from different storage conditions using high-throughput sequencing. The detailed interactions among the composition changes in the fungal community and the DON content of simulated stored wheat grains were also analyzed. RESULTS: Alternaria, Fusarium, Mrakia, and Aspergillus were the core fungal taxa, and the fungal communities of samples stored under different conditions were observed to be different. Aspergillus relative abundances increased, whereas Fusarium decreased. This led to an increase in the content of DON. The content of DON increased about 67% with 12% moisture and at 25 °C after 2 months of storage, which was influenced by the stress response of Fusarium. Correlations in fungal and mycotoxins changes were observed. There may be potential value in these findings for developing control strategies to prevent mildew infestations and mycotoxins contamination during grain storage. CONCLUSION: In storage, the more the fungal community composition and the relative abundance of Fusarium change, the more mycotoxins will be produced. We should therefore reduce competition between fungal communities through pre-storage treatment and through measures during storage. © 2023 Society of Chemical Industry.

BACKGROUND: Positive end-expiratory pressure is a crucial mechanical breathing parameter. Intra-abdominal hypertension is well defined as a sustained increase in the intra-abdominal pressure ≥12 mmHg. There are still controversies about mechanical ventilation's effect and use of positive end-expiratory pressure on intra-abdominal pressure. AIMS: We aimed to delineate the relationship between positive end-expiratory pressure and intra-abdominal pressure in mechanically ventilated patients admitted to the intensive care units of a large tertiary hospital in Upper Egypt. STUDY DESIGN: This study was a prospective observational study. The study was conducted at a university hospital from October 2023 to February 2024. The enrolled adult patients were allocated into two groups based on their positive end-expiratory pressure: group I, low pressure (<8 cm H2O) and group II, high pressure (8-10 cm H2O). RESULTS: A total of 120 patients were enrolled, 60 patients in each group. The most commonly encountered diagnoses were pneumonia (32/120, 26.7%) and acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) (31/120, 25.8%), respectively. There was a significant difference between the intra-abdominal pressure mean values of the two patient groups, 18.9 ± 3.3 versus 24.4 ± 5.9 mmHg in the group of low versus high pressure (correlation value of .454, p < .001), respectively. There were highly significant correlations between intra-abdominal pressure categories and the patient groups (correlation value of .495, p < .001). There were 24 (40%) versus 0 (0%) patients of high pressure versus low pressure within the category IV group of intra-abdominal hypertension (>25 mmHg). CONCLUSIONS: We observed a significant relationship between positive end-expiratory pressure and intra-abdominal pressure in mechanically ventilated patients. The patient group with high pressure had higher mean values compared with the group with low pressure. The study highlights the importance of closely monitoring intra-abdominal pressure in mechanically ventilated patients who receive positive end-expiratory pressure. Further studies are warranted. RELEVANCE TO CLINICAL PRACTICE: The relationship between positive end-expiratory pressure and intra-abdominal pressure is an essential issue in daily critical care nursing clinical practice. Considering the occurrence of multiple organ dysfunction as a result of a non-detected increase in intra-abdominal pressure, critical care nurses should pay attention to measuring this pressure to maintain intra-abdominal pressures that are safe for mechanically ventilated and critically ill intensive care unit patients, thereby preventing these undue effects.

Malnutrition has adverse impacts on under-five children with pneumonia. The purpose of this study was to address the prevalence and impact of malnutrition on under-five years children with pneumonia, admitted to a tertiary large children hospital in Upper Egypt. This study is a prospective case-control study. All under-five children diagnosed with pneumonia who were admitted to Assiut University Children's Hospital (AUCH) from January 1st to December 31st, 2021, were enrolled. Based on their nutritional assessment, the studied participants were classified into 2 groups: (1): Children with pneumonia and with nutritional deficiency considered as cases, and (2): Children with pneumonia and without nutritional deficiency considered as controls. Three hundred-fifty cases and 154 control subjects were enrolled, respectively. 93.4%, 31.1%, and 61.7% of the cases had underweight, stunting, and wasting, respectively. Among those cases, there were significant differences between survivors and non-survivors with regard to some clinicodemographic factors, laboratory parameters, and anthropometric parameters. Lack of compulsory vaccination, presence of sepsis, and blood transfusion (OR 2.874, 95% CI 0.048 - 2.988, p = 0.004, 2.627, 0.040 - 2.677, p = 0.009, and 4.108, 0.134 - 3.381, p < 0.001, respectively) were significant independent predictors for mortality among malnourished children with pneumonia.    Conclusion: Malnutrition has a high prevalence in under-five children with pneumonia in our locality. It has adverse effects on the outcomes and in-hospital mortality of those children. Lack of compulsory vaccination, presence of sepsis, and blood transfusion were significant independent predictors of mortality in malnourished children with pneumonia. Larger multicenter studies are warranted. What is Known: • Malnutrition has adverse impacts on under-five children with pneumonia. • Malnutrition could be a reason for in-hospital mortality among under-five children with pneumonia. What is New: • Malnutrition has a high prevalence in under-five children with pneumonia in Upper Egypt, with its adverse effects on the outcomes and mortality of those children. • Lack of vaccination, presence of sepsis, and blood transfusion are significant independent predictors of mortality in malnourished children with pneumonia in Upper Egypt.

The prognosis of metastatic lung melanoma (MLM) has been reported to be poor. An increasing number of studies have reported the function of several immune cells in cancer regression. Although the function of mediastinal fat-associated lymphoid clusters (MFALCs) in the progression of inflammatory lung lesions has been previously reported, the association between MLM progression and MFALCs development has remained unexplored. Herein, we compared the microenvironmental changes in the lungs and MFALCs among phosphate-buffered saline (PBS) and cancer groups at early (1 week) and late (2 weeks) stages following the intravenous injection of B16-F10 melanoma cells into C57BL/6 mice. Except for lung CD4+ helper T-cells and Iba1+ macrophage populations of early stage, we observed a significant increase in the proliferating and immune cell (CD20+ B-lymphocytes, CD3+ T-lymphocytes, CD8+ cytotoxic T-cells, CD16+ natural killer (NK) cells populations, area of high endothelial venules, and lung lymphatic vessels in cancer groups at both the stages as compared with the PBS groups. Furthermore, a significant positive correlation was observed between immune cell populations in MFALCs and the lungs (B- and T-lymphocytes, and NK cells in both stages). Collectively, our findings suggest a promising cancer therapeutic strategy via targeting immune cells in MFALCs.

Fusarium crown rot of wheat is a serious fungal disease that occurs worldwide. The disease has been emerging in the major wheat-growing areas in China since 2010. Fusarium pseudogramineaum is the predominant causative pathogen of crown rot of wheat in China. The 14α-demethylation inhibitor (DMI) fungicide metconazole has been shown to be effective against Fusarium spp., but little is known about its specific activity against F. pseudogramineaum. Metconazole exhibited strong antifungal activities against all thirty-nine F. pseudogramineaum strains collected from the major wheat-growing areas in China. Metconazole inhibited mycelial growth and conidial germ tube elongation of F. pseudograminearum. Metconazole treatment significantly reduced the production of major toxins and the expression levels of toxin biosynthesis genes. Genome-wide transcriptional profiling of F. pseudograminearum in response to metconazole indicated that the expression of genes involved in ergosterol biosynthesis, including fungicide target genes (cyp51 genes), was significantly induced by metconazole. Nine ATP-binding cassette (ABC) transporter-encoding genes were significantly expressed in response to metconazole treatment. Reduced ergosterol production and antioxidant enzyme activities were observed after metconazole treatment. Greenhouse experiments indicated a significant reduction in crown rot occurrence in wheat after seed treatment with metconazole. This study evaluated the potential of metconazole to manage wheat crown rot and provides information to understand its antifungal activities and mechanism of action against F. pseudograminearum.

Fusarium ear rot (FER) is a serious fungal disease occurring the late growth stage of maize. FER not only reduces the yield of maize but also causes mycotoxin contamination, which affects the quality of maize and threatens human and animal health. Fusarium verticillioides is the predominant causative pathogen of FER worldwide. At present, there is no registered fungicide for use against maize FER in China. The novel isopropyl alcohol-triazole fungicide mefentrifluconazole (MFZ) has been shown to be effective against several Fusarium spp., but little is known about its specific activity against F. verticillioides. MFZ exhibited strong antifungal activities against 50 strains of F. verticillioides collected from the major maize-growing areas in China. MFZ inhibited mycelial growth, conidium production, germination and germ tube elongation of F. verticillioides. MFZ treatment significantly reduced fumonisin production and the expression levels of fumonisin biosynthetic genes. Genome-wide transcriptional profiling of F. verticillioides in response to MFZ indicated that the expression of genes involved in ergosterol biosynthesis, including fungicide target genes (cyp51 genes), was significantly downregulated by MFZ. MFZ treatment resulted in reduced ergosterol production and increased glycerol and malonaldehyde production as well as relative conductivity in F. verticillioides. A 2-year field experiment showed a significant reduction in FER severity in maize after spraying with MFZ at the tasseling stage. This study evaluated the potential of MFZ to control FER in maize and provides insights into its antifungal activities and mechanism of action against F. verticillioides.

The existence of surface plasmon polaritons in doped silicon micro-scale structures has opened up new and innovative possibilities for applications, such as sensing, imaging, and photonics. A CMOS-compatible doped Si plasmonic sensor is proposed and investigated. The plasmon resonance can be tuned by controlling the carrier density and dopant concentration. In this paper, we demonstrate that using silicon doped with phosphorus at a concentration of 5 × 1020 cm-3 can induce surface plasmon resonance in the mid-infrared region. Two ring resonators of two different radii based on metal-insulator-metal waveguide structures are studied individually. Then, the two ring resonators are integrated in the same device. When the two ring resonators are coupled and resonate at the same frequency; two distinct resonance spectral lines are generated with striking features that improve its potential use for sensing and modulation applications. The propagating plasmonic mode is studied, including its mode profile and bend loss. We evaluate the effectiveness of a microstructure gas sensor with dimensions of 15 µm × 15 µm by measuring its sensitivity and selectivity towards methane and ethane gases. Small alterations in the surrounding refractive index led to noticeable shifts in the resonance peak. The sensor achieved a sensitivity of 7539.9 nm/RIU at the mid-infrared spectral range around the 7.7 µm wavelength. Furthermore, by combining the resonators, we can achieve a smaller full width at half maximum (FWHM), which will ultimately result in greater sensitivity than using a single-ring resonator or other plasmonic resonator configurations. Once the sensitivity and selectivity of the sensor are measured, the FOM can be calculated by dividing the sensitivity by the selectivity of the sensor, resulting in an FOM of 6732.

Muscle weakness acquired in the intensive care unit (ICU) adversely affects outcomes of ICU patients. This article reports the short-term respiratory effects of neuromuscular electrical stimulation (NMES) in critically ill patients. Patients were randomly assigned to an intervention group (NMES + conventional physiotherapy) and a control group (sham NMES + conventional physiotherapy). The application of NMES in the intervention group resulted in a significant decrease in the duration of mechanical ventilation and reduced the number of weaning trial failures. Other positive outcomes included reductions in the length of ICU stays and decreased mortality when compared with the control group.

This study aims to develop and validate a checklist of discharge readiness criteria for COVID-19 patients from the intensive care unit (ICU). We conducted a Delphi design study. The degree of agreement among 7 experts had been evaluated using the content validity index (CVI) through a 4-point Likert scale. The instrument was validated with 17 items. All the experts rated all items as very relevant which scored the item-CVI 1, which validates all checklist items. Using the mean of all items, the scale-CVI was calculated, and it was 1. This meant validation of the checklist as a whole. With regard to the overall checklist evaluation, the mean expert proportion of the instrument was 1, and the S-CVI/UA was 1. This discharge criteria checklist improves transition of care for COVID-19 patients and can help nurses, doctors, and academics to discharge COVID-19 patients from the ICU safely.

We aimed to develop and validate a model for the criteria for admission of COVID-19 patients to the intensive care unit (ICU). A Delphi design study was conducted. The content validity index (CVI) was used to determine the degree of agreement among the experts to validate the content of the admission criteria tool. Eleven experts determined the validity. The evaluation was conducted using a 4-point rating scale. The accepted CVI value was 0.50 and more. The model was validated with 31 items in the 5 dimensions, with the item-CVI of 1, a face validity index of 1, and a scale-level content validity index (S-CVI) value of 1. We have developed and validated a red flag prediction model for ICU admission of COVID-19 patients. The accurate implementation of this model could improve the outcomes of those patients and possibly decrease mortality.

Members of the Fusarium graminearum species complex (FGSC) cause extensive yield losses in cereal production worldwide, and food safety concerns due to the accumulation of Fusarium toxins in infected grains. Among these pathogens, F. meridionale is responsible for Fusarium head blight of wheat and rice, ear and stalk rot of maize, and pod blight of soybean. Here, we present an improved genome assembly of F. meridionale strain SR5 isolated from rice in China based on PacBio long-read sequencing and Illumina short-read sequencing technology. The assembled genome of SR5 has a total size of 36.82 Mb, an N50 scaffold length of 7.82 Mb, nine scaffolds, and encodes 12,409 predicted genes. These high-quality data expand FGSC genomic resources and provide a valuable resource for better understanding their genetic diversity and the molecular basis of pathogenesis, which will facilitate the development of an effective control strategy.[Formula: see text] Copyright © 2021 The Author(s). AIMS: Cereals contaminated with type B trichothecene nivalenol (NIV) and its acetylated derivative 4-acetyl-nivalenol (4-AcNIV) are a global mycotoxicological problem threatening the health of humans and livestock. Toxicological studies, quantitative determinations and screening for biodegrading micro-organisms require massive amounts of pure toxins. However, the low yield from fungal cultures and high prices of NIV and 4-AcNIV limit research progress in these areas. This work aimed to select Fusarium asiaticum mutant strains with enhanced production of NIV and 4-AcNIV. METHODS AND RESULTS: A total of 62 NIV-producing F. asiaticum strains were isolated and compared regarding their ability to produce NIV. Strain RR108 had the highest yield of NIV among 62 field isolates surveyed and was then genetically modified for higher production. Targeted deletion of the FaFlbA gene, encoding a regulator of G protein signalling protein, resulted in a significant increase in NIV and 4-AcNIV production in the FaFlbA deletion mutant ΔFaFlbA. The expression of three TRI genes involved in the trichothecene biosynthetic pathway was upregulated in ΔFaFlbA. ΔFaFlbA produced the highest amount of NIV and 4-AcNIV when cultured in brown long-grain rice for 21 days, and the yields were 2.07 and 2.84 g kg-1 , respectively. The mutant showed reduced fitness, including reduced conidiation, loss of perithecial development and decreased virulence on wheat heads, which makes it biologically safe for large-scale preparation and purification of NIV and 4-AcNIV. CONCLUSIONS: The F. asiaticum mutant strain ΔFaFlbA presented improved production of NIV and 4-AcNIV with reduced fitness and virulence in plants. SIGNIFICANCE AND IMPACT OF THE STUDY: Targeted deletion of the FaFlbA gene resulted in increased NIV and 4-AcNIV production. Our results provide a practical approach using genetic modification for large-scale mycotoxin production.

The purpose of this study is to elucidate the impact of bleomycin on the degree of lung injury and development of mediastinal fat-associated lymphoid clusters (MFALCs) in the lymphoproliferative mouse model (MRL/MpJ-Faslpr/lpr "Lpr") and its control strain (MRL/MpJ "MpJ"). We analyzed immune cells, the degree of proliferation, lymphatic vessels (LVs), and high endothelial venules (HEVs) in lungs and MFALCs in Lpr and MpJ mice on the 7th and 21st days following intranasal instillation of either bleomycin (BLM group) or PBS (PBS group). The BLM group showed a significant increase in the size of MFALCs, lung injury score, and positive area ratios of LVs, HEVs, and immune cells (especially macrophages, B- and T-lymphocytes) on both days 7 and 21. Interestingly, the lungs in the BLM group on day 21 showed higher collagen deposition and cellular infiltration in MpJ and Lpr, respectively. Moreover, significant positive correlations were observed between the size of MFALCs and lung injury. In conclusion, BLM could exert lung fibrosis or lymphoproliferative infiltration in chronic stages in MpJ and Lpr, respectively, and this varied effect could be due to the variations in the degree of immune cell proliferation and the development of LVs and HEVs among the studied strains.

In our previous study, we revealed the ameliorative therapeutic effect of dexamethasone (Dex) for Lupus nephritis lesions in the MRL/MpJ-Fas lpr/lpr (Lpr) mouse model. The female Lpr mice developed a greater number of mediastinal fat-associated lymphoid clusters (MFALCs) and inflammatory lung lesions compared to the male mice. However, the effect of Dex, an immunosuppressive drug, on both lung lesions and the development of MFALCs in Lpr mice has not been identified yet. Therefore, in this study, we compared the development of lung lesions and MFALCs in female Lpr mice that received either saline (saline group "SG") or dexamethasone (dexamethasone group "DG") in drinking water as a daily dose along with weekly intraperitoneal injections for 10 weeks. Compared to the SG group, the DG group showed a significant reduction in the levels of serum anti-dsDNA antibodies, the size of MFALCs, the degree of lung injury, the area of high endothelial venules (HEVs), and the number of proliferating and immune cells in both MFALCs and the lungs. A significant positive correlation was observed between the size of MFALCs and the cellular aggregation in the lungs of Lpr mice. Therefore, this study confirmed the ameliorative effect of Dex on the development of lung injury and MFALCs via their regressive effect on both immune cells' proliferative activity and the development of HEVs. Furthermore, the reprogramming of MFALCs by targeting immune cells and HEVs may provide a therapeutic strategy for autoimmune-disease-associated lung injury.

As coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) sweeps all over the world, Information about COVID-19 is evolving rapidly and interim guidance by multiple organisations is constantly being updated and expanded. Early with discovery of COVID 19, it was reported that pregnancy did affect the progress of the disease severity. Recently, Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) reported that pregnancy is a risk factors for COVID-19 severity. The current case report is presenting a peripartum COVID-19 positive mortality case.
