RESUMEN

Monolayer (ML) NiCl2 exhibits a strong biquadratic exchange interaction between the first neighboring magnetic atoms (B1), as demonstrated by the spin spiral model in J. Ni et al., Phys. Rev. Lett., 2021, 127, 247204. This interaction is crucial for stabilizing the ferromagnetic collinear order within the ML NiCl2. However, they neither point out the role of B1 nor discuss the dispersion relation from spin orbit coupling (SOC) in the spin spiral. As we have done in this work, these parameters might theoretically potentially be derived directly by fitting the calculated spin spiral dispersion relation. Here, we draw attention to the fact that B1 is equivalent to half of J3 in Heisenberg linear interactions and that the positive B1 partially counteracts the negative J3's impact on the spin spiral to make the ML NiCl2 ferromagnetic. The comparatively small J3 + 1/2B1 from the spin spiral led us to believe that J3 could be substituted by B1, yet it still exists and plays a crucial function in magnetic semiconductors or insulators. The dispersion relation, which we also obtain from SOC, displays weak antiferromagnetic behavior in the spin spiral.

RESUMEN

We recruited 242 elderly suicides and 242 controls above 60 years to conduct face-to-face interviews by psychological autopsy to examine the psychometric characteristics of the Duke Social Support Index (DSSI) in rural China. DSSI had high internal consistency, with Cronbach's αs of .89 and .90 in suicides and controls, respectively. DSSI was significantly and negatively correlated to loneliness in both samples. Confirmatory factor analysis basically supported the original structure of DSSI, but Item 4 had low factor loading in controls. In conclusion, DSSI has satisfactory reliability and acceptable validity in evaluating social support in the elderly suicide study in China.

RESUMEN

Objective: The purpose of this study was to understand the relationship between the multiple chronic conditions (MCC), mental health and cognitive function of older adults in the community, and to propose a hypothesis that depressive symptom mediate the number of chronic diseases and cognitive impairment in older adults. Method: Participants aged 65 years and older from 35 communities in 14 cities in Guangxi, China were recruited. The residents' depressive symptom (PHQ-9) and cognitive status (AD-8) were evaluated, Chi-square test was used to explore the effects of different socio-demographic characteristics on depressive symptom and cognitive impairment. Pearson correlation analysis and the process model 4 were used to explore the relationship between the number of chronic diseases, depressive symptom and cognitive impairment. Result: A total of 11,582 older adults were included in our analysis. The rate of MCC reaching 26.53%. Hypertension combined with diabetes accounts for the highest proportion of two chronic diseases (13.2%). Among the combination of three chronic diseases, the highest incidence of coexisting hypertension combined with cervical/lumbar spondylosis, and rheumatoid arthritis (7.1%). In this study, depression symptoms accounted for 12.9% of older adults aged 65 and above, and cognitive impairment accounted for 27.4%. Female, older age, reside in urban areas, lower educational levels, no spouse, live alone, and MCC were risk factors for depressive symptom and cognitive impairment in older adults (P<0.05). Depressive symptom had a mediating effect in the number of chronic diseases and cognitive impairment, and the mediating effect (1.109) accounted for 44.13% of the total effect (0.247). Conclusion: The mental health of the older adult needs to be taken seriously, and improving depressive symptom can reduce the occurrence of cognitive impairment in older patients with MCC to a certain extent.

RESUMEN

In this study, 2205 duplex stainless steel with 12 mm thickness was welded by alternating magnetic field-assisted laser arc hybrid welding. The effect of an alternating magnetic field on the proportion distribution of two phases of the welded joint was investigated. The texture distribution, grain boundary misorientation, and grain size of welded joints were analyzed and characterized. The uniform distribution of alloying elements in the two phases was improved by a 20 mT alternating magnetic field. The diffusion dissolution of Ni and N elements into the γ phase was promoted, which was conducive to the transition from the α to γ phase and reduced the precipitation of Cr2N, such that the ratio of γ to α was 43.4:56.6. The ratio of the two phases of the weld was balanced by the alternating magnetic field of 30 mT, such that the ratio of γ and α was 44.6:55.4 and the texture dispersion was weakened. The Σ3 twinning boundary of the austenite phase in the weld was transformed to HABs, the ferrite phase underwent dynamic recrystallization, and the austenite phase had a cube texture, copper texture, and goss texture.

RESUMEN

Based on density functional theory calculations, we elucidated the tunability of the atomic structures and magnetic interactions of Co/Pt3 interface (one layer of hcp(0001) Co and three layers of fcc(111) Pt) and thus the skyrmion sizes using strain. The dispersion relations of the spin spiral in the opposite directions, E(q) and E(-q), were evaluated based on generalized Bloch equations. Effective exchange coupling (EC) and Dzyaloshinsky-Moriya interaction (DMI) parameters between different neighbors J i and d i at different lattice constants were derived by fitting the resulting spin spiral dispersion E(q) to EC model with DMI and E(q)-E(-q) formula, respectively. We observed an increase in DMI and a significant decrease in EC with an increase in strain. Hence, the size of Néel-type skyrmions determined by the ratio of EC/DMI can be controlled by applying strain, leading to an effective approach to tailor the formation of skyrmion lattices by inducing slight structural modifications on the magnetic thin films.

RESUMEN

OBJECTIVE: We aimed to test the association of polymorphisms in HTR2A, TPH1, and TPH2 genes with attempted suicide in rural China. PARTICIPANTS AND METHODS: On the basis of a case-control study, we recruited 1200 pairs of participants from Shandong Province, China. The blood samples of 712 suicide attempters and 739 nonsuicide attempters were collected finally. We tested seven single nucleotide polymorphisms: rs6313 and rs6311 in HTR2A, rs4537731, rs1800532, and rs1799913 in TPH1, and rs4448731 and rs4641527 in TPH2. RESULTS: In univariate analysis, allele C of rs4537731 was associated negatively with attempted suicide among total and male samples; however, the association was not statistically significant in multivariate analysis after adjusting for other potential confounding factors. No association between other six single nucleotide polymorphisms and attempted suicide was found in the total, male, or female samples. CONCLUSION: This study did not support the effect of these seven serotonergic gene polymorphisms on attempted suicide in rural China.

RESUMEN

Multiwall-carbon-nanotube (MWCNT)-cellulose/cellulose composite fibers with promoted mechanical and electronic activities were synthesized. Remarkably, the dispersion of MWCNTs in the composite fibers was facilitated through cellulose grafting, resulting in the tensile strength of the obtained MWCNT-cellulose/cellulose composite fibers being increased to 304.6 MPa with 10 wt% MWCNTs involved, which was almost 106.8% higher than that of pristine MWCNT/cellulose fibers with the same amount of MWCNTs. In addition, the electrical conductivity of the MWCNT-cellulose/cellulose composite fibers was enhanced to 1.3 × 10-1 S cm-1 with the dispersion of 10 wt% MWCNTs, which was almost 108 times higher than that of pristine MWCNT/cellulose fibers with the same amount of MWCNTs.

RESUMEN

In the context of sustainable cultivation of microalgae, the present study focused on the use of nitrogen from the hot-water extracted biomass residue of Arthrospira platensis by hydrothermal carbonization (HTC) and the sequential cultivation of the same alga with the HTC aqueous phase (AP). Nearly 90% of the nitrogen recovered from HTC into AP was in the organic form. Under nitrogen-limited condition with HTCAP as nitrogen source the yield and content of carbohydrate were enhanced by 21% and 15% respectively compared with that under the same nitrogen level provided by NaNO3, which entitled HTCAP for the substitution of conventional nitrate. In the same way pilot-scale cultivation of A. platensis in raceway ponds outdoors demonstrated that carbohydrate content of 43.8% DW and productivity of 10.3g/m(2)/d was achieved. Notably 54% of organic nitrogen in the HTCAP could be recycled by cultivation of pre-nitrogen starved A. platensis as seeds under nitrogen limitation.

RESUMEN

The fatty acid profiles of lipids from microalgae are unique. Polyunsaturated fatty acids are generally enriched in polar lipids, whereas saturated and monounsaturated fatty acids constitute the majority of fatty acids in triacylglycerols (TAG). Each species has characteristic fatty acids, and their content is positively or negatively correlated with TAGs. The marine oleaginous diatom Phaeodactylum tricornutum was used as the paradigm to determine the quantitative relationship between TAG and characteristic fatty acid content. Fatty acid profiles and TAG content of Phaeodactylum tricornutum were determined in a time course. C16:0/C16:1 and eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA, C20:5n3) were identified as characteristic fatty acids in TAGs and polar lipids, respectively. The percentage of those characteristic fatty acids in total fatty acids had a significant linear relationship with TAG content, and thus, the correlation coefficient presenting r (2) were 0.96, 0.94, and 0.97, respectively. The fatty acid-based method for TAG quantification could also be applied to other microalgae such as Nannochloropsis oceanica in which the r (2) of C16:0 and EPA were 0.94 and 0.97, respectively, and in Chlorella pyrenoidosa r (2)-values for C18:1 and C18:3 with TAG content were 0.91 and 0.99, repectively. This characteristic fatty acid-based method provided a distinct way to quantify TAGs in microalgae, by which TAGs could be measured precisely by immediate transesterification from wet biomass rather than using conventional methods. This procedure simplified the operation and required smaller samples than conventional methods.

RESUMEN

Nannochloropsis oceanica is famous for its strong environmental adaptability and oil-richness, especially high eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) content. In this report, the possibility and cultivation parameters for N. oceanica using natural crude soda were testified and compared with seawater culture. To keep a suitable salinity range, different ratio of sea salt addition into soda lake water were used and the growth, lipid content, Fv/Fm and fatty acids profiling were inspected with nitrogen repletion or depletion. The results showed the best performance were achieved while 18g/L (salinity 25‰) sea salt was added into crude soda solution. The µmax and EPA content in fatty acids were 0.72/0.42 and 36%/23% in 500mL/100L bioreactor cultivations respectively, which maintained a relative high productivity to other reports. By comparing the growth and operations with Spirulina production, the feasibility of N. Oceanica in Ordos was proved on both technical and economical point of view.

RESUMEN

Sustainable microalgal cultivation at commercial scale requires nitrogen recycling. This study applied hydrothermal carbonization to recover N of hot-water extracted Arthrospira platensis biomass residue into aqueous phase (AP) under different operation conditions and evaluated the N utilization, biomass yield and quality of A. platensis cultures using AP as the sole N source. With the increase of temperature at 190-210°C or reaction time of 2-3h, the N recovery rate decreased under nitrogen-repletion (+N) cultivation, while contrarily increased under nitrogen-limitation (-N) cultivation. Under +N biomass accumulation in the cultures with AP under 190°C was enhanced by 41-67% compared with that in NaNO3, and the highest protein content of 51.5%DW achieved under 200°C-2h was also 22% higher. Carbohydrate content of 71.4%DW under -N cultivation achieved under 210°C-3h was 14% higher than that in NaNO3. HTC-algal cultivation strategy under -N mode could save 60% of conventional N.

RESUMEN

Elevated serum chemerin levels correlate with increased severity of polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS). However, the role of CMKLR1 signaling in ovarian biology under conditions of excess DHT remains unclear. In this study we compared the effects of continuous 90-day high dose DHT exposure (83.3 □g/day) on wild type and CMKLR1-deficient mice. DHT induced PCOS-like clinical signs in wild type mice as well as significant changes in the expression of hormone receptors, steroid synthesis enzymes, and BMPs and their receptors. In contrast, CMKLR1-deficient mice significantly attenuated DHT-induced clinical signs of PCOS and alterations in ovarian gene expression. To determine whether the BMP4 signaling pathway was involved in the pathogenic effects of CMKLR1 signaling in DHT-induced ovarian steroidogenesis, antral follicles were isolated from wild type and CMKLR1 knockout (KO) mice and treated in vitro with combinations of hCG, DHT, and BMP4 inhibitors. BMP4 inhibition attenuated the induction effects of hCG and DHT on estrogen and progesterone secretion in CMKLR1 KO mice, but not in WT mice, implicating the BMP4 signaling pathway in the CMKLR1-dependent response to DHT. In conclusion, CMKLR1 gene deletion attenuates the effects of chronic DHT treatment on ovarian function in experimental PCOS, likely via BMP4 signaling.

RESUMEN

The repair of large segmental bone defects remains a tough problem disturbing surgeons and researchers. Bone tissue engineering brings some new sight in this field. However, it has not been effectively applied in clinics, for the reason that the involved mechanism is not well understood. Thus, we need to know the osteogenesis process of the tissue-engineered bone including distribution, proliferation and interaction among seed cells pre-inoculated in biomaterials as well as the function of surrounding tissues. As a matter of fact, the tissue-engineered bone or the biomaterials are solid and opaque, which makes the study difficult. Here, inspired by the structure of honeycomb and amber, we hypothesize a semisolid decalcification protocol to solve this problem.
