RESUMEN

As hospitals became overwhelmed during the Covid-19 pandemic in March-May in New York, Cardiology and Electrophysiology (EP) departments rapidly developed protocols for case selection as well modifying the practice of managing the cases. Recommendations by the AHA/HRS as well as American Society of Anesthesiology (ASA) were considered in the multidisciplinary collaborative approach to patient care and personnel safety and the anesthesiology team had an integral role in developing protocols for workflow, care, recovery and transport during these challenging times.

RESUMEN

A layer of fluorinated reduced graphene oxide (FrGO), as an alternative hole transport (HTL) in organic solar cells (OSCs) based on a PBDB-T:ITIC active layer, is reported. OSC configuration is ITO/HTL/PBDB-T:ITIC/PFN/FM; FM is Field's metal, a eutectic alloy deposited at room atmosphere. PEDOT:PSS, FrGO/PEDOT:PSS, and FrGO are tested as HTLs; the average efficiencies of 8.8, 8.2, and 5.3%, respectively, are reached. Inhomogeneity of the FrGO layer is determined as the main factor that affects the photovoltaic behavior and stability. Device stability is very acceptable, sometimes with a superior behavior than data previously reported; FM also could potentially contribute to this enhanced stability.

RESUMEN

The factors that drive spatial heterogeneity and diffusion of pandemic influenza remain debated. We characterized the spatiotemporal mortality patterns of the 1918 influenza pandemic in British India and studied the role of demographic factors, environmental variables, and mobility processes on the observed patterns of spread. Fever-related and all-cause excess mortality data across 206 districts in India from January 1916 to December 1920 were analyzed while controlling for variation in seasonality particular to India. Aspects of the 1918 autumn wave in India matched signature features of influenza pandemics, with high disease burden among young adults, (moderate) spatial heterogeneity in burden, and highly synchronized outbreaks across the country deviating from annual seasonality. Importantly, we found population density and rainfall explained the spatial variation in excess mortality, and long-distance travel via railroad was predictive of the observed spatial diffusion of disease. A spatiotemporal analysis of mortality patterns during the 1918 influenza pandemic in India was integrated in this study with data on underlying factors and processes to reveal transmission mechanisms in a large, intensely connected setting with significant climatic variability. The characterization of such heterogeneity during historical pandemics is crucial to prepare for future pandemics.

RESUMEN

Chromophores face applicability limitations due to their natural tendency to aggregate, with a subsequent deactivation of their emission features. Hence, there has been a fast development of aggregation induced emission (AIE) emitters, in which non-radiative motional deactivation is inhibited. However, a fine control of their colloidal properties governing the emitting performance is fundamental for their application in thin film optoelectronics. In addition, ion-based lighting devices, such as light emitting electrochemical cells (LECs), requires the design of ionic AIE emitters, whose structure allows (i) an easy ion polarizability to assist charge injection and (ii) a reversible electrochemical behavior. To date, these fundamental questions have not been addressed. Herein, the hydrophilic/hydrophobic balance of a family of cationic tetraphenyl ethene (TPE) derivatives is finely tuned by chemical design. The hydrophilic yet repulsive effect of pyridinium-based cationic moieties is balanced with hydrophobic variables (long alkyl chains or counterion chemistry), leading to (i) a control between monomeric/aggregate state ruling photoluminescence, (ii) redox behavior, and (iii) enhanced ion conductivity in thin films. This resulted in a LEC enhancement with the first ionic AIE emitters, reaching values of 0.19 lm W-1 at ca. 50 cd m-2. Overall, this design rule will be key to advance ionic active species for optoelectronics.

RESUMEN

Background: Paediatric cardiac arrest outcomes, especially for infants, remain poor. Due to different training, resource differences, and historical reasons, paediatric cardiac arrest algorithms for various Asia countries vary. While there has been a common basic life support algorithm for adults by the Resuscitation Council of Asia (RCA), there is no common RCA algorithm for paediatric life support. We aimed to review published paediatric life support guidelines from different Asian resuscitation councils. Methods: Pubmed and Google Scholar search were performed for published paediatric basic and advanced life support guidelines from January 2015 to June 2023. Paediatric representatives from the Resuscitation Council of Asia were sought and contacted to provide input from September 2022 till June 2023. Results: While most of the components of published paediatric life support algorithms of Asian countries are similar, there are notable variations in terms of age criteria for recommended use of adult basic life support algorithms in the paediatric population less than 18 years old, recommended paediatric chest compression depth targets, ventilation rates post-advanced airway intra-arrest, and first defibrillation dose for shockable rhythms in paediatric cardiac arrest. Conclusion: This was an overview and mapping of published Asian paediatric resuscitation algorithms. It highlights similarities across paediatric life support guidelines in Asian countries. There were some differences in components of paediatric life support which highlight important knowledge gaps in paediatric resuscitation science. The minor differences in the paediatric life support guidelines endorsed by the member councils may provide a framework for prioritising resuscitation research and highlight knowledge gaps in paediatric resuscitation.

RESUMEN

Using scanning tunneling microscopy (STM) and spectroscopy (STS) at the liquid/solid interface, morphology evolution process and energetic level alignment of very thin solid films (thickness: <700 pm), of the low molecular weight molecule DRCN5T and DRCN5T:[70]PCBM blend are analyzed after applying thermal annealing at different temperatures. These films exhibit a worm-like pattern without thermal annealing (amorphous shape); however, after applying thermal annealing at 120 °C, the small molecule film domains crystallize verified by X-ray diffraction: structural geometry becomes a well-defined organized array. By using STS, the energy band diagrams of the semiconductor bulk heterojunction (blended film) at the donor-acceptor interface are determined; morphology and energy characteristics can be correlated with the organic solar cells (OSC) performance. When combining thermal treatment and solvent vapor annealing processes as described in previous literature by using other techniques, OSC devices based on DRCN5T show a very acceptable power conversion efficiency of 9.0%.

RESUMEN

In this work, scanning probe microscopies (SPMs) are used for the analysis of PBDB-T, ITIC, and PBDB-T:ITIC layers of solar cells (OSCs). Scanning tunneling microscopy (STM) images of PBDB-T reveal that thin films (<1 nm) tend to form worm-like pattern (amorphous type) domains with an average chain-to-chain distance of 950 pm; likewise, STM images of ITIC show that side arms form chain-like patterns. STM images of PBDB-T:ITIC blend suggest why PBDB-T domains could facilitate charge dissociation. Further, a strong interchain π-π interaction of the ITIC molecules could promote self-organization, and under the mutual interaction with the PBDB-T polymer, it could influence the pathway formation for electron transport. Moreover, when correlating electrostatic force microscopy (EFM) and photoconductive atomic force microscopy (pc-AFM), the blend morphology and its electrical/electronic properties are determined; the ideal domain size of PBDB-T:ITIC blend phases for maximizing the generated photocurrent is 15-35 nm. Furthermore, phase contrast and surface electric potential characteristics with Kelvin probe force microscopy (KPFM) are measured to examine additional details about the surface and potential changes due to the domain differences in the active layer. OSCs based on the nonfullerene PBDB-T:ITIC active layer reach an average power conversion efficiency (PCE) of 9.1% (best 9.2%).

RESUMEN

Herein, we report the synthesis of nontoxic pyrite iron sulfide (FeS2) nanocrystals (NCs) using a two-pot method. Moreover, we study the influence of these NCs incorporated into the PTB7:PC71BM active layer of bulk-heterojunction ternary organic photovoltaic (OPV) cells. The OPV devices are fabricated with the direct configuration glass/ITO/PEDOT:PSS/PTB7:PC71BM:FeS2/PFN/FM. The Field's metal (FM) is a eutectic alloy composed of 32.5% Bi, 51% In and 16.5% Sn by weight that melts at 62 °C. It is deposited on the active layer/PFN under atmospheric conditions. Ternary active layers are prepared by adding small amounts of the semiconducting FeS2 NCs at different weight ratios of 0.0, 0.25, 0.5, and 1.0 wt % with respect to the electron donor PTB7. With respect to the reference device (without FeS2), a 21% increase in the power conversion efficiency (PCE) is observed for OPVs with 0.5 wt % FeS2, such that the PCE of the OPVs is enhanced from 5.69 to 6.47%. According to the Kruskal-Wallis and Mann-Whitney statistical tests, all OPV devices follow the same trend.

Physical Education, sports and recreation constitute effective tools in education to correct or compensate for the behavior of students with behavioral disorders, manifestations that are often a reason for exclusion by the group of peers, teachers and/or or the community where you reside. Given the current demands to create schools that are truly inclusive in their operation, competent professionals who guarantee quality and equity education, capable of taking advantage of the benefits of physical activity and sport, both in social development and in the classrooms, are not always found in the classrooms. as in the psychological; Due to its impact on the construction of individual and collective identities, students feel the need for their participation, satisfaction with the task carried out and can value their results, which allows the formation of positive attitudes and values towards the different spheres of social life. That is why the following article aims to design a system of workshops that contribute to the preparation of teachers for the inclusion of schoolchildren with behavioral disorders through physical activity and sports. To do this, methods such as historical-logical, documentary analysis, interviews and scientific observation were used, which made it possible to verify the current state of the preparation of these professionals and propose, from a scientific perspective, a solution response that promotes new ways of professional performance.
