BACKGROUND: Part 1 of the RUBY trial (NCT03981796) evaluated dostarlimab plus carboplatin-paclitaxel compared with placebo plus carboplatin-paclitaxel in patients with primary advanced or recurrent endometrial cancer (EC). At the first interim analysis, the trial met one of its dual primary endpoints with statistically significant progression-free survival benefits in the mismatch repair-deficient/microsatellite instability-high (dMMR/MSI-H) and overall populations. Overall survival (OS) results are reported from the second interim analysis. PATIENTS AND METHODS: RUBY is a phase III, global, double-blind, randomized, placebo-controlled trial. Part 1 of RUBY enrolled eligible patients with primary advanced stage III or IV or first recurrent EC who were randomly assigned (1 : 1) to receive either dostarlimab (500 mg) or placebo, plus carboplatin-paclitaxel every 3 weeks for 6 cycles followed by dostarlimab (1000 mg) or placebo every 6 weeks for up to 3 years. OS was a dual primary endpoint. RESULTS: A total of 494 patients were randomized (245 in the dostarlimab arm; 249 in the placebo arm). In the overall population, with 51% maturity, RUBY met the dual primary endpoint for OS at this second interim analysis, with a statistically significant reduction in the risk of death [hazard ratio (HR) = 0.69, 95% confidence interval (CI) 0.54-0.89, P = 0.0020] in patients treated with dostarlimab plus carboplatin-paclitaxel versus carboplatin-paclitaxel alone. The risk of death was lower in the dMMR/MSI-H population (HR = 0.32, 95% CI 0.17-0.63, nominal P = 0.0002) and a trend in favor of dostarlimab was seen in the mismatch repair-proficient/microsatellite stable population (HR = 0.79, 95% CI 0.60-1.04, nominal P = 0.0493). The safety profile for dostarlimab plus carboplatin-paclitaxel was consistent with the first interim analysis. CONCLUSIONS: Dostarlimab in combination with carboplatin-paclitaxel demonstrated a statistically significant and clinically meaningful OS benefit in the overall population of patients with primary advanced or recurrent EC while demonstrating an acceptable safety profile.

The creation and manipulation of coherence continues to capture the attention of scientists and engineers. The optical laser is a canonical example of a system that, in principle, exhibits complete coherence. Recent research has focused on the creation of coherent, laser-like states in other physical systems. The phonon laser is one example where it is possible to amplify self-sustained mechanical oscillations. A single mode phonon laser in a levitated optical tweezer has been demonstrated through appropriate balance of active feedback gain and damping. In this work, coherent control of the dynamics of an optical tweezer phonon laser is used to share coherence between its different modes of oscillation, creating a multimode phonon laser. The coupling of the modes is achieved by periodically rotating the asymmetric optical potential in the transverse focal plane of the trapping beam via trap laser polarization rotation. The presented theory and experiment demonstrate that coherence can be transferred across different modes of an optical tweezer phonon laser, and are a step toward using these systems for precision measurement and quantum information processing.

The cooperative mechanism is of paramount importance in the synthesis of supramolecular polymers with desired characteristics, including molecular mass, polydispersity, and morphology. It is primarily driven by the presence of intermolecular interactions, which encompass strong hydrogen bonding, metal-ligand interactions, and dipole-dipole interactions. In this study, we utilize density functional theory and energy decomposition analysis to investigate the cooperative behavior of perylene diimide (PDI) oligomers with alkyl chains at their imide positions, which lack the previously mentioned interactions. Our systematic examination reveals that dispersion interactions originating from the alkyl side-chain substituents play an important role in promoting cooperativity within these PDIs. This influence becomes even more pronounced for alkyl chain lengths beyond hexyl groups. The energy decomposition analysis reveals that the delicate balance between dispersion energy and Pauli repulsion energy is the key driver of cooperative behavior in PDIs. Additionally, we have developed a mathematical model capable of predicting the saturated binding energies for PDI oligomers of varying sizes and alkyl chain lengths. Overall, our findings emphasize the previously undervalued significance of dispersion forces in cooperative supramolecular polymerization, enhancing our overall understanding of the cooperative mechanism.

Only limited enhancement in room-temperature ionic-conductivity for poly(ethylene oxide), PEO, based electrolytes is possible due to coupling between ionic-conductivity and segmental relaxation. In the present study, we have achieved ionic-conductivity of 1.07 × 10-3 and 6.20 × 10-4 S cm-1 at 313 and 298 K, respectively, by adding 45 wt% of succinonitrile (SN) in PEO having low LiTFSI loading (Li : EO = 1 : 20). This enhancement in the ionic-conductivity is attributed to faster ion transport (diffusion coefficient, D = 3.63 × 10-5 cm2 s-1) occurring through the ion-transport channels as confirmed by positron annihilation lifetime spectroscopy. The ionic-transport through these channels is observed to be highly decoupled from the segmental relaxations as confirmed using broadband dielectric spectroscopy through Ratner's approach. The observed decoupling of ionic-conductivity from PEO segmental relaxation in PEO-SN composite-based electrolytes would be useful to design rather inexpensive all solid-state polymer electrolytes for Li ion batteries.

AIMS: To identify a marine L-asparaginase with clinically desirable attributes and characterize the shortlisted candidate through in silico tools. METHODS AND RESULTS: Marine bacterial strains (number = 105) isolated from marine crabs were evaluated through a stepwise strategy incorporating the crucial attributes for therapeutic safety. The results demonstrated the potential of eight bacterial species for extracellular L-asparaginase production. However, only one isolate (Bacillus altitudinis CMFRI/Bal-2) showed clinically desirable attributes, viz. extracellular production, type-II nature, lack of concurrent L-glutaminase and urease activities, and presence of ansZ (functional gene for clinical type). The enzyme production was 22.55 ± 0.5 µM/mg protein/min within 24 h without optimization. The enzyme also showed good activity and stability in pH 7-8 and temperature 37°C, predicting the functioning inside the human body. The Michealis-Menten constant (Km) was 14.75 µM. Detailed in silico analysis based on functional gene authenticating the results of in vitro characterization and predicted the nonallergenic characteristic of the candidate. Docking results proved the higher affinity of the shortlisted candidate to L-asparagine than L-glutamine and urea. CONCLUSION: Comprehensively, the study highlighted B. altitudinis type II asparaginase as a competent candidate for further research on clinically safe asparaginases.

The Oscar fish (Astronotus ocellatus) is among the most commonly domesticated and exported ornamental fish species from Kerala. The ornamental fish industry faces a significant challenge with the emergence of diseases caused by multi-drug-resistant bacteria. In the present study, six isolates were resolved from the diseased Oscar fish showing haemorrhages, necrosis, and loss of pigmentation. After phenotypic and genotypic characterization, the bacteria were identified as Edwardsiella tarda, Klebsiella pneumoniae, Enterococcus faecalis, Escherichia coli, Brevibacillus borstelensis, and Staphylococcus hominis. Experimental challenge studies in healthy Oscar fish showed that E. tarda caused 100% mortality within 240 h with 6.99 × 106 CFU/fish as LD50 and histopathology revealed the typical signs of infection. The pathogen was re-recovered from the moribund fish thereby confirming Koch's postulates. E. tarda was confirmed through the positive amplification of tarda-specific gene and virulence genes viz., etfD and escB were also detected using PCR. Antibiotic susceptibility tests using disc diffusion displayed that the pathogen is multi-drug-resistant towards antibiotics belonging to aminoglycosides, tetracyclines, and quinolones categories with a MAR index of 0.32, which implicated the antibiotic pressure in the farm. Plasmid curing studies showed a paradigm shift in the resistance pattern with MAR index of 0.04, highlighting the resistance genes are plasmid-borne except for the chromosome-borne tetracycline resistance gene (tetA). This study is the first of its kind in detecting mass mortality caused by E. tarda in Oscar fish. Vigilant surveillance and strategic actions are crucial for the precise detection of pathogens and AMR in aquaculture.

BACKGROUND: Acorus calamus Linn. is a medicinally valuable monocot plant belonging to the family Acoraceae. Over-exploitation and unscientific approach towards harvesting to fulfill an ever-increasing demand have placed it in the endangered list of species. OBJECTIVE: To develop vitrification-based cryopreservation protocols for A. calamus shoot tips, using conventional vitrification and V cryo-plate. MATERIALS AND METHODS: Shoot tips (2 mm in size) were cryopreserved with the above techniques by optimizing various parameters such as preculture duration, sucrose concentration in the preculture medium, and PVS2 dehydration time. Regenerated plantlets obtained post-cryopreservation were evaluated by random amplified polymorphic DNA (RAPD) to test their genetic fidelity. RESULTS: The highest regrowth of 88.3% after PVS2 exposure of 60 min was achieved with V cryo-plate as compared to 75% after 90 min of PVS2 exposure using conventional vitrification. After cryopreservation, shoot tips developed into complete plantlets in 28 days on regrowth medium (0.5 mg/L BAP, 0.3 mg/L GA3, and 0.3 mg/L ascorbic acid). RAPD analysis revealed 100% monomorphism in all cryo-storage derived regenerants and in vitro donor (120-days-old) plants. CONCLUSION: Shoot tips of A. calamus that were cryopreserved had 88.3% regrowth using V cryo-plate technique and the regerants retained genetic fidelity. https://doi.org/10.54680/fr24210110412.

Research on antioxidant biomarkers can generate profound insights into the defense mechanisms of fish larvae against different stressors and can reveal manipulation strategies for improved growth and survival. However, the number of samples to process and unavailability of required infrastructure in larval-rearing facilities limit the immediate processing, requiring the preservation of specimens. Silver pompano (Trachinotus blochii), a potential marine aquaculture species, shows a low larval survival rate due to poorly developed antioxidant mechanism. In this context, 39 storage conditions, including three storage temperatures and different buffers, were scrutinized to select the most suitable preservation strategy for five important antioxidant biomarkers of fish larvae, viz. catalase activity, superoxide dismutase (SOD) activity, measurement of lipid peroxidation, reduced glutathione (GSH), and ascorbic acid contents. The paper proposes the optimum larval storage conditions for these five evaluated antioxidant biomarkers to generate similar results in preserved and non-preserved larval samples. Larval samples preserved in PBS at lower temperatures (- 20 °C and - 80 °C) are recommended for evaluating catalase activity and ascorbic acid content. Catalase activity can also be evaluated by preserving the larval samples at - 20 °C or - 80 °C without buffers. Larval samples held in PBS or without any buffers at - 20 °C and at - 80 °C were found to be suitable for SOD and GSH evaluation, respectively. Preservation in 50% glacial acetic acid at - 80 °C or - 20 °C was preferred for the lipid peroxidation assays. Apart from methodological perspectives, the paper provides insights into the dynamics of larval antioxidant profiles of T. blochii, for the first time.

Rice is considered the king of cereals. It is the only cereal that is being consumed by half of the population in the world. Rice and rice products have potential health benefits. One such rice aided product is rice washed water which is discussed in this article. Rice-washed water, which is commonly regarded as waste water and discarded, is a rich source of minerals and nutrients. The processing of rice washed water, nutritional analysis; edible fungi productions are detailed in this review. The article goes into detail about rice-washed water, which has been used for various purposes since our ancestors' time. The article provides a comprehensive report on the uses of rice-washed water in plant growth, Ayurveda, food, Cosmetics and a variety of other applications. Rice washed water is being utilized for various ailments since primitive times. The detailed report on the treatment utilizing rice washed water is also provided in this article. There are scarce researches with rice washed water, this article address the conventional uses of rice washed water, which can be taken up by the research community which needs more scientific validation. This review article also includes details about the composition and a variety of other important information about rice-washed water. We present a catalyst-free route for the reduction of carbon dioxide integrated with the formation of a carbon-carbon bond at the air/water interface of negatively charged aqueous microdroplets, at ambient temperature. The reactions proceed through carbanion generation at the α-carbon of a ketone followed by nucleophilic addition to CO2. Online mass spectrometry reveals that the product is an α-ketoacid. Several factors, such as the concentration of the reagents, pressure of CO2 gas, and distance traveled by the droplets, control the kinetics of the reaction. Theoretical calculations suggest that water in the microdroplets facilitates this unusual chemistry. Furthermore, such a microdroplet strategy has been extended to seven different ketones. This work demonstrates a green pathway for the reduction of CO2 to useful carboxylated organic products.

Introduction: Potentially malignant oral epithelial lesions are a group of oral conditions with an altered morphological state of the normal mucosal lining and include different lesions such as leukoplakia, erythroplakia, submucosal fibrosis, and lichen planus. Aim: To compare the outcome of premalignant oral lesions after medical therapy consisting of submucosal intralesional injection of triamcinolone with hyaluronidase and surgical excision. Materials and Methods: This was a comparative prospective interventional study and the study was conducted among 50 patients presented to the Department of Otorhinolaryngology with premalignant oral lesions from the year 2020 to 2022. Patients were divided into two groups by random allocation, group A was treated with medical therapy, and Group B was treated with surgical excision and followed for a minimum of 6 months and the outcome has been categorized. Results: All patients were divided into two groups-group A and group B, group A consisted of 22 (44%) patients who were given medical therapy, and group B consisted of 28 (56%) patients who underwent surgical excision. In group A, the clinical response was seen in 8 (36.36%) and in group B, the clinical response was seen in 18 (64.29%) patients. Conclusion: Surgical excision was found to be better with more cases of clinical response (64.29%) when compared to medical treatment (36.36%) with a p value of 0.0497 which is significant whereas malignant transformation was almost equal in medical therapy and surgical treatment which was 13.64% and 14.28%, respectively.

The treatment of head and neck (H&N) cancer presents formidable challenges due to the involvement of normal tissue and organs at risk (OARs) in the close vicinity. Ensuring the precise administration of the prescribed dose demands prior dose verification. Considering contour irregularity and heterogeneity in the H&N region, an anthropomorphic and heterogeneous H&N phantom was developed and fabricated locally for conducting the dosimetry audit in advanced radiotherapy treatments. This specialized phantom emulates human anatomy and incorporates a removable cylindrical insert housing a C-shaped planning target volume (PTV) alongside key OARs including the spinal cord, oral cavity, and bilateral parotid glands. Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene (ABS) was chosen for PTV and parotid fabrication, while Delrin was adopted for spinal cord fabrication. A pivotal feature of this phantom is the incorporation of thermoluminescent dosimeters (TLDs) within the PTV and OARs, enabling the measurement of delivered dose. To execute the dosimetry audit, the phantom, accompanied by dosimeters and comprehensive guidelines, was disseminated to multiple radiotherapy centers. Subsequently, hospital physicists acquired computed tomography (CT) scans to generate treatment plans for phantom irradiation. The treatment planning system (TPS) computed the anticipated dose distribution within the phantom, and post-irradiation TLD readings yielded actual dose measurements. The TPS calculated and TLD measured dose values at most of the locations inside the PTV were found comparable within ± 4%. The outcomes affirm the suitability of the developed anthropomorphic H&N phantom for precise dosimetry audits of advanced radiotherapy treatments.

Association of increased oxidative stress (OS) with the pathophysiology of renal stone formation has not been explored greatly in the field of urolithiasis. In this prospective case-control study, we measured 24-h urinary 8-hydroxy-2'-deoxyguanosine (8-OHdG) levels in patients with urolithiasis and compared them with matched healthy controls. We also measured 24-h urinary uric acid, calcium, oxalate, and citrate levels in patients with renal stone disease and studied their relation with urinary 8-OHdG levels. Seventy-five cases of renal stone disease and 75 well-matched controls were included. Median 24-h urinary 8-OHdG levels were significantly higher in cases compared to controls (7.6 vs. 3.7 µg/g of creatinine; p < 0.000). Receiver-operating curve (ROC) analysis for 8-OHdG between cases and controls revealed an area under the curve of 0.90. At 8-OHdG (µg/g of creatinine) value of 5 or more, a sensitivity and a specificity of 84% each were obtained. A positive correlation between 8-OHdG (µg/g of creatinine) and 24-h urinary oxalate level was noted (r = 0.461, p = 0.000). No correlation between 8-OHdG (µg/g of creatinine) and other variables was noted. On multivariate linear regression analysis, we noted 24-h urinary oxalate levels to be an independent predictor of urinary 8-OHdG levels. OS is significantly higher in patients with renal stone diseases compared to healthy controls. Urinary oxalate levels were significantly correlated with urinary 8-OHdG levels.

INTRODUCTION: The National Health Service contributes 4%-5% of England and Wales' greenhouse gases and a quarter of all public sector waste. Between 20% and 33% of healthcare waste originates from a hospital's operating room, and up to 90% of waste is sent for costly and unneeded hazardous waste processing. The goal of this study was to quantify the amount and type of waste produced during a selection of common trauma and elective orthopaedic operations, and to calculate the carbon footprint of processing the waste. METHODS: Waste generated for both elective and trauma procedures was separated primarily into clean and contaminated, paper or plastic, and then weighed. The annual carbon footprint for each operation at each site was subsequently calculated. RESULTS: Elective procedures can generate up to 16.5kg of plastic waste per procedure. Practices such as double-draping the patient contribute to increasing the quantity of waste. Over the procedures analysed, the mean total plastic waste at the hospital sites varied from 6 to 12kg. One hospital site undertook a pilot of switching disposable gowns for reusable ones with a subsequent reduction of 66% in the carbon footprint and a cost saving of £13,483.89. CONCLUSIONS: This study sheds new light on the environmental impact of waste produced during trauma and elective orthopaedic procedures. Mitigating the environmental impact of the operating room requires a collective drive for a culture change to sustainability and social responsibility. Each clinician can have an impact upon the carbon footprint of their operating theatre.

Introduction: Advanced heart failure (HF) is an epidemic that affects multiple organ systems with high morbidity and mortality rates despite optimal medical therapy (OMT) and remains the leading cause of hospitalizations in type 2 diabetes-related cardiovascular disease. The addition of sodium-glucose co-transporter inhibitors (SGLT2i) in treating these patients has seen improved mortality and hospital admission rates. As such, we felt it was important to investigate whether the use of SGLT2i improved functional capacity in patients with HF when compared to OMT by evaluating maximum oxygen consumption (peak VO2) using cardiopulmonary exercise testing (CPET). Methods: We found 94 heart failure patients between August 2020 and August 2021 who underwent CPET before and after treatment at Mayo Clinic in Florida. 50 patients received OMT and 44 received OMT and SGLT2i therapy. CPET results before and after were compared for each group. Results: The baseline ejection fraction was not significantly different between groups, with the OMT group at 38% and the SGLT2i group at 33%, p = 0.10. OMT patients were found to have a significantly lower hemoglobin A1c of 5.7 (5.4-6.1) compared to those with SGLT2i therapy of 6.4 (5.8-7.1), p = 0.01. The baseline peak VO2 was 17.3 ml/kg/min (13.3-21.6) in the OMT group and 17.3 ml/kg/min (14.4-18.9) in the SGLT2i group, p = 0.18, not significantly different. The interesting finding is that the follow-up peak VO2 at one year for the OMT group was 17 ml/kg/min (13.3-21.6), which was not significantly different from the SGLT2i group peak VO2 of 17 ml/kg/min (14.6-19.6), p = 0.19. Our study is the first to compare before and after peak VO2 values of the OMT+SGLT2i group to the patient's own baseline and we found no significant improvement. Conclusion: Our single-center data shows no improvement in functional capacity after the addition of SGLT2i therapy to OMT in patients with advanced heart failure. Improved hospitalization and symptoms may be attributed to other numerous effects of SGLT2i such as volume management.

Three-dimensional (3D) printers have become popular educational tools in secondary and post-secondary STEM curriculum; however, concerns have emerged regarding inhalation exposures and associated health risks. Current evidence suggests that filament materials and site conditions may cause differences in the chemical profiles and toxicological properties of 3D printer emissions; however, few studies have evaluated exposures directly in the classroom. In this study, we monitored and sampled particulate matter (PM) emitted from acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene (ABS) and polylactic acid (PLA) filaments during a 3-hour 3D printing session in a high school classroom using aerosol monitoring instrumentation and collection media. To evaluate potential inhalation risks, Multiple Path Particle Dosimetry (MPPD) modeling was used to estimate inhaled doses and calculate in vitro concentrations based on the observed aerosol data and specific lung and breathing characteristics. Dynamic light scattering was used to evaluate the hydrodynamic diameter, zeta potential, and polydispersity index (PDI) of extracted PM emissions dispersed in cell culture media. Small airway epithelial cells (SAEC) were employed to determine cellular viability, genotoxic, inflammatory, and metabolic responses to each emission exposure using MTS, ELISA, and high-performance liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry (HPLC-MS), respectively. Aerosol monitoring data revealed that emissions from ABS and PLA filaments generated similar PM concentrations within the ultrafine and fine ranges. However, DLS analysis showed differences in the physicochemical properties of ABS and PLA PM, where the hydrodynamic diameter of PLA PM was greater than ABS PM, which may have influenced particle deposition rates and cellular outcomes. While exposure to both ABS and PLA PM reduced cell viability and induced MDM2, an indicator of genomic instability, PLA PM alone increased gamma-H2AX, a marker of double-stranded DNA breaks. ABS and PLA emissions also increased the release of pro-inflammatory cytokines, although this did not reach significance. Furthermore, metabolic profiling via high performance liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry (HPLC-MS) and subsequent pathway analysis revealed filament and dose dependent cellular metabolic alterations. Notably, our metabolomic analysis also revealed key metabolites and pathways implicated in PM-induced oxidative stress, DNA damage, and respiratory disease that were perturbed across both tested doses for a given filament. Taken together, these findings suggest that use of ABS and PLA filaments in 3D printers within school settings may potentially contribute to adverse respiratory responses especially in vulnerable populations.

Understanding the bond dissociation energies (BDEs) of per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) helps in devising their efficient degradation pathways. However, there is only limited experimental data on the PFAS BDEs, and there are uncertainties associated with the BDEs computed using density functional theory. Although quantum chemical methods like the G4 composite method can provide highly accurate BDEs (< 1 kcal mol-1), they are limited to small system sizes. To address DFT's accuracy limitations and G4's system size constraints, we examined the connectivity-based hierarchy (CBH) scheme and found that it can provide BDEs that are reasonably close to the G4 accuracy while retaining the computational efficiency of DFT. To further improve the accuracy, we modified the CBH scheme and demonstrated that BDEs calculated using it have a mean-absolute deviation of 0.7 kcal mol-1 from G4 BDEs. To validate the reliability of this new scheme, we computed the ground state free energies of seven PFAS compounds and BDEs for 44 C-C and C-F bonds at the G4 level of theory. Our results suggest that the modified CBH scheme can accurately compute the BDEs of both small and large PFAS at near G4 level accuracy, offering promise for more effective PFAS degradation strategies.

INTRODUCTION: Athletic training can result in electrical and structural changes of the right ventricle that may mimic phenotypical features of arrhythmogenic right ventricular cardiomyopathy (ARVC), such as T-wave inversion and right heart dilatation. An erroneous interpretation may have consequences ranging from false reassurance in an athlete vulnerable to cardiac arrhythmias, to unnecessary sports restriction in a healthy individual. The primary aim of this study was to define normal RV dimension reference ranges for academy adolescent footballers of different ethnicities. Secondary aims include analysis of potential overlap between this adolescent group with ARVC criteria and comparison with normal adult ranges. RESULTS: Electrocardiographic (ECG) and echocardiographic data of 1087 academy male footballers aged between 13 and 18 years old (mean age 16.0 ± 0.5 years), attending mandatory cardiac screening were analysed. Ethnicity was categorised as white (n = 826), black (African/Caribbean; n = 166) and mixed-race (one parent white and one parent black; n = 95). Arrhythmogenic right ventricular cardiomyopathy major criteria for T-wave inversion was seen in 3.3% of the cohort. This was more prevalent in black footballers (12%) when compared to mixed race footballers (6.3%) or white footballers (1%), P < 0.05. Up to 59% of the cohort exceeded adult reference ranges for some of the right ventricular parameters, although values were similar to those seen in adult footballers. There were no differences in right ventricular dimensions between ethnicities. In particular, the right ventricular outflow tract diameter would fulfil major criteria for ARVC dimension in 12% of footballers. Overall, 0.2% of the cohort would fulfil diagnosis for 'definite' arrhythmogenic right ventricular cardiomyopathy and 2.2% would fulfil diagnosis for 'borderline' arrhythmogenic right ventricular cardiomyopathy for RV dimensions and ECG changes. This was seen more frequently in black footballers (9.9%) than mixed race footballers (3.9%) or white footballer (0.6%), P < 0.05. Among athletes meeting definite or borderline arrhythmogenic right ventricular cardiomyopathy criteria, no cardiomyopathy was identified after comprehensive clinical assessment, including with cardiac magnetic resonance imaging, exercise testing, ambulatory electrocardiograms and familial evaluation. CONCLUSION: Right heart sizes in excess of accepted adult ranges occurred in as many as one in two adolescent footballers. Structural adaptations in conjunction with anterior T-wave inversion may raise concern for ARVC, highlighting the need for evaluation in expert settings.

Sodium-ion batteries are considered as potential alternatives to conventional lithium-ion batteries. To realize their large-scale practical applications, it is essential to identify suitable anode candidates exhibiting promising electrochemical properties such as high specific capacity, low diffusion energy barrier, and excellent cyclic stability. In this work, using density functional theory (DFT) calculations and ab initio molecular dynamics simulations, we examine α-graphyne - a carbon-based 2D material - as a potential anode candidate. Our results show that AGY exhibits an ultra-low diffusion barrier of 0.23 eV along both the horizontal and vertical directions and a low average anodic voltage of 0.36 V. Our AIMD studies at 300 K show excellent thermodynamical stability with the loading of four sodium atoms, resulting in a theoretical specific capacity (TSC) of 279 mA h g-1. Doping studies show that varying the nature of acetylenic links of AGY with electron-rich (nitrogen) or electron-deficient (boron) elements, the adsorption strength and diffusion barriers for Na atoms on AGY can be tuned. Furthermore, treating AGY as a case study, we find that conventional DFT studies are expected to overestimate the TSC by a huge margin. Specific to AGY, this overestimation can be up to ∼300%. We identify that ignoring the probable formation of temperature-driven metal clusters is the main reason behind such overestimations. Furthermore, we develop a scheme to calculate TSC with higher accuracy. The scheme, which can be easily generalized to the universal class of electrodes, is evolved by concurrently employing AIMD simulations, DFT calculations and cluster analysis.
