RESUMEN

The application of movement-detection sensors is crucial for understanding surface movement and tectonic activities. The development of modern sensors has been instrumental in earthquake monitoring, prediction, early warning, emergency commanding and communication, search and rescue, and life detection. There are numerous sensors currently being utilized in earthquake engineering and science. It is essential to review their mechanisms and working principles thoroughly. Hence, we have attempted to review the development and application of these sensors by classifying them based on the timeline of earthquakes, the physical or chemical mechanisms of sensors, and the location of sensor platforms. In this study, we analyzed available sensor platforms that have been widely used in recent years, with satellites and UAVs being among the most used. The findings of our study will be useful for future earthquake response and relief efforts, as well as research aimed at reducing earthquake disaster risks.

RESUMEN

The crash of an aircraft with an almost vertical attitude in Wuzhou, Guangxi, China, on 21 March 2022, has caused a robust discussion in the civil aviation community. We propose an active disturbance rejection controller (ADRC) for suppressing aeroelastic vibrations of a flexible aircraft at the simulation level. The ADRC has a relatively simple structure and it has been proved in several fields to provide better control than the classical proportional-integral-derivative (PID) control theory and is easier to translate from theory to practice compared with other modern control theories. In this paper, the vibration model of the flexible aircraft was built, based on the first elastic vibration mode of the aircraft. In addition, the principle of ADRC is explained in detail, a second-order ADRC was designed to control the vibration model, and the system's closed-loop frequency domain characteristics, tracking effect and sensitivity were comprehensively analyzed. The estimation error of the extended state observer (ESO) and the anti-disturbance effect were analyzed, while the robustness of the closed-loop system was verified using the Monte Carlo method, which was used for the first time in this field. Simulation results showed that the ADRC suppressed aircraft elastic vibration better than PID controllers and that the closed-loop system was robust in the face of dynamic parameters.

RESUMEN

Portfolio optimization is one of the most complex problems in the financial field, and technical analysis is a popular tool to find an optimal solution that maximizes the yields. This paper establishes a portfolio optimization model consisting of a weighted unidirectional dual-layer LSTM model and an SMA-slope strategy. The weighted unidirectional dual-layer LSTM model is developed to predict the daily prices of gold/Bitcoin, which addresses the traditional problem of prediction lag. Based on the predicted prices and comparison of two representative investment strategies, simple moving average (SMA) and Bollinger bands (BB), this paper adopts a new investment strategy, SMA-slope strategy, which introduces the concept of k-slope to measure the daily ups and downs of gold/Bitcoin. As two typical financial products, gold and Bitcoin are opposite in terms of their characteristics, which may represent many existing financial products in investors' portfolios. With a principle of $1000, this paper conducts a five-year simulation of gold and Bitcoin trading from 11 September 2016 to 10 September 2021. To compensate for the SMA and BB that may miss buying and selling points, 4 different parameters' values in the k-slope are obtained through particle swarm optimization simulation. Also, the simulation results imply that the proposed portfolio optimization model contributes to helping investors make investment decisions with high profitability.
