RESUMEN

BACKGROUND: Hepatic pedicle clamping (HPC) is frequently utilized during hepatectomy to reduce intraoperative bleeding and diminish the need for intraoperative blood transfusion (IBT). The long-term prognostic implications of HPC following hepatectomy for hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) remain under debate. This study aims to elucidate the association between HPC and oncologic outcomes after HCC resection, stratified by whether IBT was administered. PATIENTS AND METHODS: Prospectively collected data on patients with HCC who underwent curative resection from a multicenter database was studied. Patients were stratified into two cohorts on the basis of whether IBT was administered. The impact of HPC on long-term overall survival (OS) and recurrence-free survival (RFS) between the two cohorts was assessed by univariable and multivariable Cox regression analyses. RESULTS: Of 3362 patients, 535 received IBT. In the IBT cohort, using or not using HPC showed no significant difference in OS and RFS outcomes (5-year OS and RFS rates 27.9% vs. 24.6% and 13.8% vs. 12.0%, P = 0.810 and 0.530). However, in the non-IBT cohort of 2827 patients, the HPC subgroup demonstrated significantly decreased OS (5-year 45.9% vs. 56.5%, P < 0.001) and RFS (5-year 24.7% vs. 33.3%, P < 0.001) when compared with the subgroup without HPC. Multivariable Cox regression analysis identified HPC as an independent risk factor of OS and RFS [hazard ratios (HR) 1.16 and 1.12, P = 0.024 and 0.044, respectively] among patients who did not receive IBT. CONCLUSIONS: The impact of HPC on the oncological outcomes following hepatectomy for patients with HCC differed significantly whether IBT was administered, and HPC adversely impacted on long-term survival for patients without receiving IBT during hepatectomy.

RESUMEN

BACKGROUND: The differences in outcomes after aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage (aSAH) between the sexes have not been concretely determined. This study aimed to evaluate the differences in epidemiology, outcomes, and risk factors between male and female patients with aSAH. METHODS: We performed a multicenter, retrospective study of patients with aSAH from 2017 to 2020. We investigated the epidemiological differences between the two sexes. Propensity score matching (PSM) was used to compare short-term outcomes between the sexes. Binary logarithmic regression was performed to investigate the odds ratio (OR) for dependent survival in patients of different sexes. RESULTS: A total of 5,407 consecutive patients with aSAH were included in this study, and the female-to-male ratio was 1.8:1. The peak incidence of aSAH occurred in the 6th and 7th decades in males and females, respectively. There were more female patients with internal carotid artery or posterior communicating artery aneurysms (53.2%), and there were more male patients with anterior cerebral artery or anterior communicating artery aneurysms (43.2%). The incidence of multiple aneurysms was greater in female patients (21.5% vs. 14.2%, P < 0.001). There was no significant difference in outcomes before and after PSM at discharge. The dependent survival risk was related only to the clinical condition on admission in women. In addition, age > 50 years (OR 1.88, 95% confidence interval 1.17-3.02; P = 0.01) and hypertension (OR 1.81, 95% confidence interval 1.25-2.61; P = 0.002) were also risk factors for male patients. CONCLUSIONS: There were more female patients with aneurysms than male patients in this study. Most aneurysm locations were different between the two groups. There was no significant difference in discharge outcomes before and after PSM. The risk factors for dependent survival were different between female and male patients.

RESUMEN

Chiral multi-resonance thermally activated delayed fluorescence (CP-MR-TADF) materials hold promise for circularly polarized organic light-emitting diodes (CP-OLEDs) and 3D displays. Herein, we present two pairs of tetraborated intrinsically axial CP-MR-TADF materials, R/S-BDBF-BOH and R/S-BDBT-BOH, with conjugation-extended bidibenzo[b,d]furan and bidibenzo[b,d]thiophene as chiral sources, which effectively participate in the distribution of the frontier molecular orbitals. Due to the heavy-atom effect, sulfur atoms are introduced to accelerate the reverse intersystem crossing process and increase the efficiency of molecules. R/S-BDBF-BOH and R/S-BDBT-BOH manifest ultra-pure blue emission with a maximum at 458/459 nm with a full width at half maximum of 27 nm, photoluminescence quantum yields of 90 %/91 %, and dissymmetry factors (|gPL|) of 6.8×10-4/8.5×10-4, respectively. Correspondingly, the CP-OLEDs exhibit good performances with an external quantum efficiency of 30.1 % and |gEL| factors of 1.2×10-3.

RESUMEN

BACKGROUND: Orofacial pain (OFP) is a highly prevalent disorder in mainland China that predisposes to an associated physical and psychological disability. There is lack of a good properties mainland Chinese version of instrument to examine OFP. This study aims to cross-cultural adaptation and evaluate psychometrics properties of the Manchester Orofacial Pain Disability Scale (MOPDS) in mainland Chinese Mandarin context. METHODS: Translation and cross-cultural adaption of the mainland Chinese version MOPDS were conducted following accepted guidelines of self-report measures. Chinese college students (N = 1039) completed the mainland Chinese version of the MOPDS for item analysis, reliability and validity tests, and measurement invariance analysis, and after a one-month interval, around 10% of the sample (n = 110) were invited to retest. To conduct the CFA and measurement invariance analysis, Mplus 8.4 was used. IBM SPSS Statistics 26 software were used for all additional studies. RESULTS: We found that the mainland Chinese version of MOPDS contains 25 items, divided into two categories: physical disability and psychological disability. The scale demonstrated excellent internal reliability, test-retest reliability, and validity. The measurement invariance results proved that the scale could be applied to people of different gender, age, and health consultation status. CONCLUSIONS: The results demonstrated the mainland Chinese version of MOPDS has good psychometric properties and can be used to measure the level of physical and psychological disability of Chinese OFP peoples.

RESUMEN

BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE: The management of older aneurysmal subarachnoid haemorrhage (aSAH) cases is a clinical challenge. This study aimed to analyse the survival and functional outcomes in older aSAH patients (age ≥ 70 years) to provide evidence for making treatment decisions for such patients. METHODS: We performed a 2-year follow-up analysis of the Chinese Multi-Centre Cerebral Aneurysm Database for older patients suffering from aSAH from 2017 to 2020. A survival analysis was used to investigate the mean survival and hazard ratios for death. Binary logarithmic regression was performed to investigate the odds ratio for independent survival and dependent survival. RESULTS: A total of 1,136 consecutive older patients with aSAH were assessed in this study, and 944 patients (83.1%) were followed up. The overall mean survival was 37.79 ± 1.04 months. A total of 380 (40.25%) patients died within 2 years after aSAH. In survival analysis, the predictors of mortality were older age, intracerebral haemorrhage (ICH) history, Hunt-Hess (H-H) grade, World Federation of Neurosurgical Societies (WFNS) grade and operative treatment decreased the risk of mortality compared to conservative treatment. In binary logarithmic regression, the predictors of dependent survival were hypertension, diabetes, WFNS grade. CONCLUSIONS: The risk for 2-year mortality after aSAH increases markedly with older age, ICH history, H-H grade and WFNS grade. Risk factors for 2-year dependent survival were associated with hypertension, diabetes and WFNS grade in older patients with aSAH. Operative treatment markedly decreased mortality but did not significantly decrease the morbidity of dependent survival compared to conservative treatment.

RESUMEN

Bacteriophages (or phages) are unique viruses that can specifically infect bacteria. Since their discovery by Twort and d'Herelle, phages with bacterial specificity have played important roles in microbial regulation. The intestinal microbiota and host health are intimately linked with nutrient, metabolism, development, and immunity aspects. However, the mechanism of interactions between the composition of the microbiota and their functions in maintaining host health still needs to be further explored. To address the lack of methodology and functions of intestinal microbiota in the host, we first proposed that, with the regulations of special intestinal microbiota and applications of germ-free (GF) zebrafish model, phages would be used to infect and reduce/eliminate the defined gut bacteria in the conventionally raised (CR) zebrafish and compared with the GF zebrafish colonized with defined bacterial strains. Thus, this review highlighted the background and roles of phages and their functional characteristics, and we also summarized the phage-specific infection of target microorganisms, methods to improve the phage specificity, and their regulation within the zebrafish model and gut microbial functional study. Moreover, the primary protocol of phage therapy to control the intestinal microbiota in zebrafish models from larvae to adults was recommended including phage screening from natural sources, identification of host ranges, and experimental design in the animal. A well understanding of the interaction and mechanism between phages and gut bacteria in the host can potentially provide powerful strategies or techniques for preventing bacteria-related human diseases by precisely regulating in vitro and in vivo, which will provide novel insights for phages' application and combined research in the future. KEY POINTS: • Zebrafish models for clarifying the microbial and phages' functions were discussed • Phages infect host bacteria with exquisite specificity and efficacy • Phages can reduce/eliminate the defined gut bacteria to clarify their function.

RESUMEN

OBJECTIVE: Oral health-related quality of life (OHRQoL) is a multidimensional concept that is commonly used to examine the impact of oral health status on quality of life. The purpose of this study was to examine the optimal factor model of the Chinese version of the Oral Health Impact Profile (OHIP-14) questionnaire in clinical populations, measurement invariance across clinical status and gender cohorts. This would ensure equal validity of the Chinese version of OHIP-14 in different populations and further support public oral investigations. METHODS: The Chinese version of OHIP-14 was used to investigate 490 dental patients and 919 college students. Confirmatory factor analysis (CFA), item analysis and reliability, measurement invariance, and the t-test were used for data analyses. RESULTS: We found that the 7-factor structure had the best-fit index in the sample (CFI = 0.970, TLI = 0.952; SRMR = 0.029, RMSEA = 0.052(0.040,0.063)). The reliability of the scales was satisfactory (Cronbach's α = 0.942). The error variance invariance fitted the data adequately in measurement invariance, indicating that measurement invariance is acceptable both across the clinical and non-clinical populations (∆CFI=-0.017, ∆RMSEA = 0.010) and across genders in the clinical population (∆CFI = 0.000, ∆RMSEA=-0.003). T-test for scores showed that the clinical populations scored significantly higher than the non-clinical populations, as did the overall score (t = 7.046, p < 0.001, d = 0.396), in terms of functional limitation (t = 2.178, p = 0.030, d = 0.125), physical pain (t = 7.880, p < 0.001,d = 0.436), psychological discomfort (t = 8.993, p < 0.001, d = 0.514), physical disability (t = 6.343, p < 0.001, d = 0.358), psychological disability (t = 5.592, p < 0.001, d = 0.315), social disability (t = 5.301, p < 0.001,d = 0.304), social handicap (t = 4.452, p < 0.001, d = 0.253), and that in the non-clinical populations, females scored significantly higher than males, as did in terms of physical pain (t = 3.055, p = 0.002, d = 0.280), psychological discomfort (t = 2.478, p = 0.014, d = 0.222), and psychological disability (t = 2.067, p = 0.039, d = 0.188). CONCLUSION: This study found that the Chinese version of OHIP-14 has measurement invariance between the clinical and non-clinical populations and across genders in the clinical populations, and can be widely used in OHRQoL assessment for public oral investigations.

RESUMEN

BACKGROUND: There are several treatment options for patients with concomitant carotid and coronary artery disease, and it is difficult to identify an optimal treatment strategy that has consensus. Here, we performed a meta-analysis to compare the early and long-term outcomes of staged and synchronous carotid endarterectomy and coronary artery bypass grafting approaches. METHODS: We performed a meta-analysis that compared staged and synchronous carotid endarterectomy and coronary artery bypass grafting approaches between July 1976 and September 2021. PubMed, EMBASE, and the Cochrane Library were systematically searched for related articles. RESULTS: Nineteen studies were identified with a total of 39,269 and 30,066 patients in the synchronous and staged groups, respectively. Early mortality was lower in the staged group than in the synchronous group (odds ratio OR 1.256, 95% confidence interval CI 1.006-1.569, P= P < 0.05, I2 = 54.5%), and stroke rates were significantly higher in the synchronous group (OR 1.356, 95% CI 1.232-1.493, P < 0.05, I2 = 33.3%). The rate of myocardial ischemia was significantly higher in the staged group than in the synchronous group (OR 0.757, 95% CI 0.635-0.903, P < 0.05, I2 = 51.5%), and this meta-analysis also showed a significantly higher risk of transient ischemic attacks (TIAs) in the synchronous group (OR 1.335, 95% CI 1.055-1.688, P < 0.05, I2 = 0.00%). The secondary outcomes, including the rate of reoperation, were significantly lower for the staged procedure than for the synchronous procedure (OR 1.177, 95% CI 1.052-1.318, P < 0.05, I2 = 4.2%), and the rate of wound infection was significantly higher in the synchronous group than in the staged group (OR 0.457, 95% CI 0.403-0.519, P < 0.05, I2 = 0.0%). There was no significant difference in the rate of cardiac arrhythmia between the two groups (OR 0.544, 95% CI 0.265-1.117, P > 0.05, I2 = 12.7%). There was also no statistical significance in the long-term results regarding the incidence of stroke, myocardial ischemia, and mortality between the synchronous and staged groups (P > 0.05). CONCLUSIONS: Patients treated with the synchronous approach had a significantly higher risk of early mortality, stroke, TIA, wound infection, and reoperation and a lower risk of myocardial ischemia than those treated with the staged approach. There was no significant difference in the long-term results between the 2 groups.

RESUMEN

The low-lying electronic states of neutral X@C60 (X = Li, Na, K, Rb) have been computed and analyzed by employing state-of-the-art high level many-electron methods. Apart from the common charge-separated states, well known to be present in endohedral fullerenes, one non-charge-separated state has been found in each of the investigated systems. In Li@C60 and Na@C60, the non-charge-separated state is a caged-electron state already discussed before for Li@C60. This indicates that the application of this low-lying state of Li@C60 discussed before is also applicable for Na@C60. In K@C60 and Rb@C60, the electronic radial distribution analysis shows that this hitherto unknown non-charge-separated state possesses a different nature from that of a caged-electron state.

RESUMEN

By employing accurate state-of-the-art many-electron quantum-chemistry methods, we establish that monocyclic carbon rings can accommodate Li guest atoms. The low-lying electronic states of these endocircular systems are analyzed and found to include both charge-separated states where the guest Li atom appears as a cation and the ring as an anion and encircled-electron states where Li and the ring are neutral. The electron binding energies of the encircled-electron states increase drastically at their highly symmetric equilibrium geometries with increasing size of the ring, and in Li@C24 , this state becomes the ground state. Li is very weakly bound vertical to the rings in the low-lying encircled-electron states, hinting to van-der-Waals binding. Applcations are mentioned.

RESUMEN

Apoptosis and fibrosis play a vital role in myocardial infarction (MI) induced tissue injury. Although microRNAs have been the focus of many studies on cardiac apoptosis and fibrosis in MI, the detailed effects of miR-26a is needed to further understood. The present study demonstrated that miR-26a was downregulated in ST-elevation MI (STEMI) patients and oxygen-glucose deprivation (OGD)-treated H9c2 cells. Downregulation of miR-26a was closely correlated with the increased expression of creatine kinase, creatine kinase-MB and troponin I in STEMI patients. Further analysis identified that ataxia-telangiectasia mutated (ATM) was a target gene for miR-26a based on a bioinformatics analysis. miR-26a overexpression effectively reduced ATM expression, apoptosis, and apoptosis-related proteins in OGD-treated H9c2 cells. In a mouse model of MI, the expression of miR-26a was significantly decreased in the infarct zone of the heart, whereas apoptosis and ATM expression were increased. miR-26a overexpression effectively reduced ATM expression and cardiac apoptosis at Day 1 after MI. Furthermore, we demonstrated that overexpression of miR-26a improved cardiac function and reduced cardiac fibrosis by the reduced expression of collagen type I and connective tissue growth factor (CTGF) in mice at Day 14 after MI. Overexpression of miR-26a or ATM knockdown decreased collagen I and CTGF expression in cultured OGD-treated cardiomyocytes. Taken together, these data demonstrate a prominent role for miR-26a in linking ATM expression to ischemia-induced apoptosis and fibrosis, key features of MI progression. miR-26a reduced MI development by affecting ATM expression and could be targeted in the treatment of MI.

RESUMEN

Determining the geometry of carbon rings is an ongoing challenge. Based on our calculations at a state-of-the-art level, we found that the C20 - ring possesses five bound electronic states, including a superatomic state, which is the first superatomic state found for a ring. The nature of these electronic states is discussed. Our calculation reveals a symmetry breaking of the C20 - ring anion ground electronic structure occurring upon attaching an electron to the neutral ring. The discussion of the possible symmetry breaking mechanisms indicates that the shrinking and distortion of the ring upon electron attachment, leading to the symmetry breaking, is a result of the interplay between the symmetry breaking and the totally symmetric modes. The discussion enriches the palette of possible symmetry breaking phenomena in carbon clusters.

RESUMEN

We report on high-level coupled-cluster calculations of electronic states of the neutral endohedral fullerene Li@C20. All computed states of neutral Li@C20 are found to be the charge separated states of the Li+@C20 - type. Using the state-of-the-art EA-EOM-CCSD method, we found that neutral Li@C20 (D3d) possesses several valence and superatomic charge separated states with considerable electron binding energies, the strongest bound state of Li+@C20 - being the 12Eu state (6.73 eV). The valence charge separated states correspond to two sets of states of C20 -. The states 12Eu, 12A2u, 22Eu, and 22A2u correspond to the respective bound states of C20 -, and the states 22A2g, 12Eg, 12A1g, and 42Eu correspond to the unbound states of C20 -. There are eight superatomic states with electron binding energy higher than 1.0 eV, being much stronger bound than the single weakly bound superatomic state of the parent fullerene anion. The analysis of the radial density distribution of the excess electron on the carbon cage indicates the important role of the inner part of the superatomic states in forming the charge separated states.

RESUMEN

The purpose of the present study was to investigate the effect of advanced glycated albumin (AGE-alb) on pyroptosis of macrophages and the underlying molecular mechanisms. RAW264.7 macrophages were treated with AGE-alb (1, 2, 4 and 6 g/L) and control albumin (C-alb, 4 g/L) for 24 h, or preincubated with MCC950 (1 µmol/L) for 1 h and then treated with AGE-alb (4 g/L) for 24 h. Cell viability and caspase-1 activity were measured by MTT and assay kits, respectively. Lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) activity and the levels of interleukin-1ß (IL-1ß) and IL-18 in media were detected. Cell death degree was evaluated by TUNEL and Hoechst 33342/PI staining. The protein levels of nucleotide-binding oligomerization domain-like receptor protein 3 (NLRP3), procaspase-1 and cleaved caspase-1 were assessed by Western blot. The results showed that AGE-alb treatment caused obvious decrease in cell viability and increases in LDH leakage and the percentages of TUNEL- or PI-positive cells in a concentration-dependent manner. Additionally, AGE-alb promoted IL-1ß and IL-18 secretion, upregulated NLRP3 expression, and increased caspase-1 activity especially at the dose of 4 and 6 g/L. However, MCC950 (an NLRP3 inhibitor) pretreatment inhibited significantly the decrease in cell viability and the increases in LDH leakage and percentages of TUNEL- or PI-positive cells induced by AGE-alb. Furthermore, MCC950 attenuated obviously AGE-alb-induced IL-1ß and IL-18 secretion and caspase-1 activation. These results indicate that AGE-alb may induce macrophage pyroptosis, and the mechanism is at least partially by activating NLRP3-caspase-1 pathway.

RESUMEN

We report on high-level coupled-cluster calculations for the anion states of the smallest fullerene C20. Using the state-of-the-art EA-EOM-CCSD method we revealed that the C20- anion has five bound electronic states at the C20 neutral ground-state D3d equilibrium configuration. These are two pairs of 2Eu and 2A2u states and one 2A1g state. The binding energies vary from 2.05 eV for the most bound 2Eu state to <1 meV for the 2A1g state. An analysis in terms of radial and angular density distribution of the excess electron revealed that the two 2Eu/2A2u pairs are valence-like states while 2A1g corresponds to a super-atomic-like (SAMO) state. The valence states of the first 2Eu/2A2u pair were found to be of p-type whereas those of the second pair are of hybrid sp-type. We have also applied a simple model to understand the binding of the excess electron in C20-. The model confirms the existence of only one SAMO state of the s-type for C20-. At the same time, it overestimates the number of the bound valence states of C20-.

RESUMEN

BACKGROUND: Epidemiological studies have shown that ambient air pollution is closely associated with increased respiratory inflammation and decreased lung function. Particulate matters (PMs) are major components of air pollution that damages lung cells. However, the mechanisms remain to be elucidated. This study examines the effects of PMs on intercellular adhesion molecule-1 (ICAM-1) expression and the related mechanisms in vitro and in vivo. RESULT: The cytotoxicity, reactive oxygen species (ROS) generation, and monocyte adherence to A549 cells were more severely affected by treatment with O-PMs (organic solvent-extractable fraction of SRM1649b) than with W-PMs (water-soluble fraction of SRM1649b). We observed a significant increase in ICAM-1 expression by O-PMs, but not W-PMs. O-PMs also induced the phosphorylation of AKT, p65, and STAT3. Pretreating A549 cells with N-acetyl cysteine (NAC), an antioxidant, attenuated O-PMs-induced ROS generation, the phosphorylation of the mentioned kinases, and the expression of ICAM-1. Furthermore, an AKT inhibitor (LY294002), NF-κB inhibitor (BAY11-7082), and STAT3 inhibitor (Stattic) significantly down-regulated O-PMs-induced ICAM-1 expression as well as the adhesion of U937 cells to epithelial cells. Interleukin-6 (IL-6) was the most significantly changed cytokine in O-PMs-treated A549 cells according to the analysis of the cytokine antibody array. The IL-6 receptor inhibitor tocilizumab (TCZ) and small interfering RNA for IL-6 significantly reduced ICAM-1 secretion and expression as well as the reduction of the AKT, p65, and STAT3 phosphorylation in O-PMs-treated A549 cells. In addition, the intratracheal instillation of PMs significantly increased the levels of the ICAM-1 and IL-6 in lung tissues and plasma in WT mice, but not in IL-6 knockout mice. Pre-administration of NAC attenuated those PMs-induced adverse effects in WT mice. Furthermore, patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) had higher plasma levels of ICAM-1 and IL-6 compared to healthy subjects. CONCLUSION: These results suggest that PMs increase ICAM-1 expression in pulmonary epithelial cells in vitro and in vivo through the IL-6/AKT/STAT3/NF-κB signaling pathway.

RESUMEN

A ZnO nanoparticle layer was synthesized by the sol-gel method on ITO glass. Devices with a ZnO nanoparticle layer/polymethylmethacrylate (PMMA) heterojunction structure were then fabricated and the room temperature electroluminescence (EL) spectra were studied. Under DC bias, ultraviolet (UV) EL at 390 nm from the ZnO band edge emission was observed, and defect-related emission of ZnO at 600 and 760 nm were also detected. The EL mechanisms are discussed in terms of the carrier tunneling process.

RESUMEN

BACKGROUND: Microsurgical bone reconstruction is challenging in cases of anterior maxillary defects because of the presence of residual teeth. The study analyzed the method and feasibility of using vascularized bone flaps to reconstruct anterior maxillary defects. METHODS: We retrospectively analyzed 15 patients treated at the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Peking University School, and Hospital of Stomatology between November 2017 and January 2023. RESULTS: A total of 14 patients were successfully reconstructed using the digital technique: 6 deep circumflex iliac artery (DCIA) flaps and 8 fibular free flaps. Palatal and buccal pedicle paths were used in 4 and 10 cases, respectively, for vascular anastomosis. The implant coverage rates of the DCIA and fibular free flaps were 87.2% and 92.6%, respectively (p > 0.05). CONCLUSION: Anterior maxillary defects reconstructed with the DCIA and fibular free flaps are reliable methods. Furthermore, the palatal and buccal paths are recommended for vascular anastomosis.

RESUMEN

OBJECTIVES: The Gothenburg Trismus Questionnaire (GTQ) is a comprehensive scale for screening and assessing trismus in head and neck (H&N) cancer and temporomandibular joint disorders (TMD) patients. This study aimed to translate and cross-culturally adapt the GTQ in China, and to test its measurement invariance. METHODS: This study comprised 278 H&N cancer, 245 TMD, and 507 control patients. Internal consistency and test-retest reliability were tested to assess the GTQ's reliability. The validity was evaluated through composite reliability (CR), average variance extracted (AVE), and correlation tests. Multi-group confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) was used to investigate the GTQ's measurement invariance across clinical status and gender. T tests were employed to compare score differences across clinical status and gender. RESULTS: The Chinese version of GTQ scale shows excellent internal consistency and test-retest reliability. The CR, AVE, and correlation values demonstrate the good validity of GTQ. The multi-group CFA supported configural invariance across clinical status but not metric invariance, while it supported strict invariance across gender. Additionally, t tests revealed that patients with H&N cancer and TMD scored higher than the control group, while males scored higher than females. CONCLUSIONS: The Chinese version of GTQ serves as an effective tool for screening and assessing trismus.
