RESUMEN

Mitochondrial cloning is a promising approach to achieve homoplasmic mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA) mutations. We previously developed a microfluidic device that performs single mitochondrion transfer from a mtDNA-intact cell to a mtDNA-less (ρ0) cell by promoting cytoplasmic connection through a microtunnel between them. In the present study, we described a method for generating transmitochondrial cybrids using the microfluidic device. After achieving mitochondrial transfer between HeLa cells and thymidine kinase-deficient ρ0143B cells using the microfluidic device, selective culture was carried out using a pyruvate and uridine (PU)-absent and 5-bromo-2'-deoxyuridine-supplemented culture medium. The resulting cells contained HeLa mtDNA and 143B nuclei, but both 143B mtDNA and HeLa nuclei were absent in these cells. Additionally, these cells showed lower lactate production than parent ρ0143B cells and disappearance of PU auxotrophy for cell growth. These results suggest successful generation of transmitochondrial cybrids using the microfluidic device. Furthermore, we succeeded in selective harvest of generated transmitochondrial cybrids under a PU-supplemented condition by removing unfused ρ0 cells with puromycin-based selection in the microfluidic device.

Synthetic small molecules that redirect endogenous antibodies to target cells are promising drug candidates because they overcome the potential shortcomings of therapeutic antibodies, such as immunogenicity and the need for intravenous delivery. Previously, we reported a novel class of bispecific molecules targeting the antibody Fc region and folate receptor, named Fc-binding antibody-recruiting molecules (Fc-ARMs). Fc-ARMs can theoretically recruit most endogenous antibodies, inducing antibody-dependent cell-mediated cytotoxicity (ADCC) to eliminate cancer cells. Herein, we describe new Fc-ARMs that target prostate cancer (Fc-ARM-Ps). Fc-ARM-Ps recruited antibodies to cancer cells expressing prostate-specific membrane antigen but did so with lower efficiency compared with Fc-ARMs targeting the folate receptor. Upon recruitment by Fc-ARM-P, defucosylated antibodies efficiently activated natural killer cells and induced ADCC, whereas antibodies with intact N-glycans did not. The results suggest that the affinity between recruited antibodies and CD16a, a type of Fc receptor expressed on immune cells, could be a key factor controlling immune activation in the Fc-ARM strategy.

INTRODUCTION: According to the latest Japanese nationwide estimates, over a million Japanese people are newly diagnosed with cancer each year. Since gastrointestinal cancers account for more than 40% of all cancer-related deaths, it is imperative to formulate effective strategies to control them. MATERIALS AND METHODS, AND RESULTS: Basic drug discovery research Our research has revealed that the abnormal expression of regulators of chromosomal stability is a cause of cancers and identified an effective compound against cancers with chromosomal instability. We revealed the molecular mechanism of peritoneal dissemination of cancer cells via the CXCR4/CXCL12 axis to CAR-like cells and identified an MEK inhibitor effective against these tumors. Residual tumor cells after chemotherapy in colorectal cancer are LGR5-positive cancer stem cells and their ability to eliminate reactive oxygen species is elevated. The development of surgical procedures and devices In cases of gastric tube reconstruction for esophageal cancer, we determined the anastomotic line for evaluating the blood flow using ICG angiography and measuring the tissue O2 metabolism. We established a novel gastric reconstruction method (book-binding technique) for gastric cancer and a new rectal reconstruction method focusing on the intra-intestinal pressure resistance for rectal cancer. We established a novel tissue fusion method, which allows contact-free local heating and retains tissue viability with very little damage, and developed an understanding of the collagen-related processes that underpin laser-induced tissue fusion. Strategy to prevent carcinogenesis We succeeded in cleaving hepatitis B virus DNA integrated into the nucleus of hepatocytes using genome editing tools. The development of HCC from non-alcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH) may be prevented by metabolic surgery. CONCLUSION: We believe that these efforts will help to significantly improve the gastrointestinal cancer treatment and survival.

The mechanism underlying the spontaneous regression of neuroblastoma is unclear. Although it was hypothesized that this regression occurs via an immunological mechanism, there is no clinical evidence, and no animal models have been developed to investigate the involvement of immune systems, especially natural antibodies, against neuroblastoma. We performed an immunological analysis of homo- and heterozygous TH-MYCN transgenic mice as a model of aggressive neuroblastoma. Mice with no or small (<5 mm) tumors showed higher antibody titers in plasma than mice with large (>5 mm) tumors. A significant negative correlation was observed between the tumor diameter and the titer of antitumor antibody. This antibody had complement-dependent cytotoxicity but not antibody-dependent cellular cytotoxicity against neuroblastoma cells. Moreover, B-cell depletion had no effect on the tumor incidence in vivo. We revealed that TH-MYCN transgenic mice have a natural antibody against neuroblastoma that correlate with tumor size. However, this antibody does not correlate with the spontaneous regression of neuroblastoma. Thus, the function of the natural antibody is limited.

OBJECTIVES: Budding uninhibited by benzimidazole-related 1 (BubR1), a cell cycle-related protein, is an essential component of the spindle checkpoint that regulates cell division. Mice in which BubR1 expression is reduced to 10% of the normal level display the phenotypic features of progeria. However, the role of BubR1 in vascular diseases and angiogenesis remains unknown. To investigate the influence of BubR1 on angiogenesis, we generated a low-null-BubR1-expressing (BubR1L/-) mouse strain with reduced BubR1 expression as low as 15% of the normal level without any abnormalities in appearance. METHODS: To elucidate the role of BubR1 in angiogenesis, we used a hind limb ischemia model induced in BubR1L/- mice and age-matched wild-type (WT) littermates. To evaluate the pathologic influence of BubR1 on angiogenesis, we measured the blood flow before and after hind limb ischemia surgery, and the expression of typical angiogenic factors in vivo and in vitro. RESULTS: In WT mice, blood flow in the ischemic left limb gradually recovered to approximately 80%, 14 days after surgery. Conversely, in the BubR1L/- group, blood flow in the left ischemic limb recovered to at most 30% (14 days after surgery, P < .01; immediately after the operation, and 5 and 9 days after surgery, P < .05). In adductor and calf muscles from BubR1L/- mice, regenerated muscle bundles, granulation tissue, and inflammatory cell invasion were more evident than in calf muscles from WT mice at 14 days after surgery. All WT mice at 14 days after surgery had complete limb salvage, but loss of limbs was observed in approximately 70% of BubR1L/- mice (P < .05). The vascular endothelial growth factor protein increase in ischemic hind limb muscles was lower in BubR1L/- mice compared with WT mice (P < .05), and vascular endothelial growth factor levels in human aortic smooth muscle cells treated with BubR1 knockdown siRNA were lower compared with scramble siRNA under hypoxic conditions (P < .01). HIF1α protein levels in the muscles after hind limb ischemia surgery were also significantly lower in BubR1L/- mice compared with WT mice (P < .05). CONCLUSIONS: BubR1 insufficiency impairs angiogenesis and results in limb loss in ischemic hind limbs. BubR1 may be a crucial angiogenic factor and might be beneficial for the treatment of limb ischemia.

OBJECTIVE: The J-SICT DC Vaccine Study Group provides dendritic cell (DC) vaccines for compassionate use under unified cell production and patient treatment regimens. We previously reported beneficial effects of DC vaccines on the overall survival of 62 patients with advanced non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) in a single-center analysis. Here, we extended analysis to 260 patients with NSCLC who were treated at six centers. METHODS: Of the 337 patients who met the inclusion criteria, we analyzed 260 patients who received ≥5 peptide-pulsed DC vaccinations once every 2 weeks. RESULTS: The mean survival time (MST) from diagnosis was 33.0 months (95 % confidence interval [CI]: 27.9-39.2), and that from time of first vaccination was 13.8 months (95 % CI 11.4-16.8). An erythema reaction at the injection site that was ≥30 mm in diameter was correlated most strongly with overall survival from the first vaccine (≥30 vs. < 30 mm: MST 20.4 vs. 8.8 months, P < 0.001). We reported a similar finding in our previous analysis of patients with advanced pancreatic cancer. Interestingly, although such findings were common between patients with adenocarcinoma and those with other subtypes, the former group experienced significantly prolonged overall survival and a higher response rate for erythema (56.3 vs. 37.3 %, respectively, P = 0.014). CONCLUSIONS: This is the first multicenter study that suggests a possible clinical benefit of DC vaccines for patients with advanced NSCLC, especially those with adenocarcinoma. These findings suggest a specific potential responder population for DC vaccines and warrant further investigation in well-controlled prospective randomized trials.

OBJECTIVE: BubR1, a cell cycle-related protein, is an essential component of the spindle checkpoint that regulates cell division. Mice with BubR1 expression reduced to 10% of the normal level display a phenotype characterized by progeria; however, the involvement of BubR1 in vascular diseases is still unknown. We generated mice in which BubR1 expression was reduced to 20% (BubR1(L/L) mice) of that in wild-type mice (BubR1(+/+)) to investigate the effects of BubR1 on arterial intimal hyperplasia. APPROACH AND RESULTS: Ten-week-old male BubR1(L/L) and age-matched wild-type littermates (BubR1(+/+)) were used in this study. The left common carotid artery was ligated, and histopathologic examinations were conducted 4 weeks later. Bone marrow transplantation was also performed. Vascular smooth muscle cells (VSMCs) were isolated from the thoracic aorta to examine cell proliferation, migration, and cell cycle progression. Severe neointimal hyperplasia was observed after artery ligation in BubR1(+/+) mice, whereas BubR1(L/L) mice displayed nearly complete inhibition of neointimal hyperplasia. Bone marrow transplantation from all donors did not affect the reconstitution of 3 hematopoietic lineages, and neointimal hyperplasia was still suppressed after bone marrow transplantation from BubR1(+/+) mice to BubR1(L/L) mice. VSMC proliferation was impaired in BubR1(L/L) mice because of delayed entry into the S phase. VSMC migration was unaffected in these BubR1(L/L) mice. p38 mitogen-activated protein kinase-inhibited VSMCs showed low expression of BubR1, and BubR1-inhibited VSMCs showed low expression of p38. CONCLUSIONS: BubR1 may represent a new target molecule for treating pathological states of vascular remodeling, such as restenosis after angioplasty.

AIM: To examine the perception of professional behaviours and factors contributing to nursing professionalism among nurse managers. BACKGROUND: Professional behaviours influence nursing professionalisation and managers' behaviours strongly impact professional development. In Japan, few studies have examined professional nursing behaviours from the nurse managers' perspective. METHODS: The Behavioural Inventory for Professionalism in Nursing was performed with 525 nurse managers representing 15 facilities in Japan. RESULTS: The highest professional behaviours score obtained was 'competence and continuing education' and the lowest behavioural score was 'publication and communication'. The results demonstrate that higher nursing professionalism is related significantly to the increased length of nursing experience, a higher level of educational preparation and the current position as a nurse administrator. CONCLUSION: This study demonstrated that nursing professionalism is influenced by years of experience and nursing management education. IMPLICATIONS FOR NURSING MANAGEMENT: Awareness of extrinsic professional factors is important continually to maintain nursing professionalism. The findings of our study may help nurse managers to continue their self-development and to realise the potential of their nursing staff by developing professionalism. These findings also provide an understanding of international professionalism trends to achieve higher levels of nursing professionalism through the evaluation of professional nursing behaviours.

A 15-year-old girl with acute lymphoblastic leukemia received allogeneic dendritic cell vaccination, pulsed with Wilms tumor 1 (WT1) peptide, after her third hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT). The vaccines were generated from the third HSCT donor, who was her younger sister, age 12 years. The patient received 14 vaccines and had no graft-versus-host disease or systemic adverse effect, aside from grade 2 skin reaction at the injection site. WT1-specific immune responses were detected after vaccination by both WT1-tetramer analysis and enzyme-linked immunosorbent spot assay. This strategy may be safe, tolerable and even feasible for patients with a relapse after HSCT.

The aim of this study was to elucidate characteristics of nursing performance among nurses with high emotional intelligence (EI) and examine the influence of years of experience on nursing performance and EI. A survey, including The Emotional Intelligence Scale and the Six-Dimension Scale of Nursing Performance, was administered to 1395 nurses working at general hospitals in Japan from November 2010 to March 2011. We received 1045 responses (76% response rate). There was a significant positive correlation between EI and nursing performance. Nurses with high EI reported more professional development activities, suggesting that they continue learning, attain licenses and actively improve their nursing skills. High-performing nurses had high situational abilities and showed improved nursing performance with experience. However, nurses with low situational abilities demonstrated no improvement in nursing performance related to experience. EI involves skills that can be acquired from training. Therefore, educational programmes to improve EI could improve nursing performance.

OBJECTIVE: Dendritic cell (DC)-based cancer vaccines may have a significant benefit to patients with advanced pancreatic cancer. However, variations among clinical studies make it difficult to compare clinical outcomes. Here, we identified factors that determined the clinical benefits by analyzing data obtained at seven Japanese institutions that employed the same DC preparation and treatment regimens. METHODS: Of 354 patients who met the inclusion criteria, 255 patients who received standard chemotherapy combined with peptide-pulsed DC vaccines were analyzed. RESULTS: The mean survival time from diagnosis was 16.5 months (95 % CI 14.4-18.5) and that from the first vaccination was 9.9 months (95 % CI 8.0-12.9). Known prognostic baseline factors related to advanced pancreatic cancer, namely ECOG-PS, peritoneal metastasis, liver metastasis, and the prognostic nutrition index, were also representative. Importantly, we found that erythema reaction after vaccination was an independent and treatment-related prognostic factor for better survival and that OK-432 might be a good adjuvant enhancing the antitumor immunity during DC vaccination. CONCLUSIONS: This is the first report of a multicenter clinical study suggesting the feasibility and possible clinical benefit of an add-on DC vaccine in patients with advanced pancreatic cancer who are undergoing chemotherapy. These findings need to be addressed in well-controlled prospective randomized trials.

We here report the results of a Phase I/IIa open-label four dose-escalation clinical study assessing the safety, tolerability, and possible therapeutic efficacy of a single intramuscular administration of DVC1-0101, a new gene transfer vector based on a nontransmissible recombinant Sendai virus (rSeV) expressing the human fibroblast growth factor-2 (FGF-2) gene (rSeV/dF-hFGF2), in patients with peripheral arterial disease (PAD). Gene transfer was done in 12 limbs of 12 patients with rest pain, and three of them had ischemic ulcer(s). No cardiovascular or other serious adverse events (SAEs) caused by gene transfer were detected in the patients over a 6-month follow-up. No infectious viral particles, as assessed by hemagglutination activity, were detected in any patient during the study. No representative elevation of proinflammatory cytokines or plasma FGF-2 was seen. Significant and continuous improvements in Rutherford category, absolute claudication distance (ACD), and rest pain were observed (P < 0.05 to 0.01). To the best of our knowledge, this is the first clinical trial of the use of a gene transfer vector based on rSeV. The single intramuscular administration of DVC1-0101 to PAD patients was safe and well tolerated, and resulted in significant improvements of limb function. Larger pivotal studies are warranted as a next step.

An 80-year-old man with a history of gastric cancer and pulmonary emphysema underwent a distal gastrectomy for gastric cancer in 1997. In 2010, an endoscopic examination revealed a depressed-type lesion at the oral side of the anastomosis, which was diagnosed as signet-ring adenocarcinoma. Surgical management was considered, but was rejected because of obstructive and restrictive respiratory events. Chemotherapy was terminated because of adverse events. Endoscopy was used to administer intratumoral injections of dendritic cells (DCs) targeting synthesized peptides of Wilms tumor 1 (WT1) and mucin 1, cell-surface associated (MUC1). An immunohistochemical analysis of the tumor samples indicated positivity for WT1 and MUC1. One month after seven cycles of DC had been administered (between November 2010 and April 2011), no suspicious lesions were evident, and his biopsy results were normal. The patient has been in remission for 30 months. Intratumoral injections of DCs showed therapeutic effects in this patient, who could not undergo endoscopic submucosal dissection or surgery.

The aim of this study was to quantify the professionalism of nurses in Japan. The Japanese version of the Behavioural Inventory for Professionalism in Nursing was conducted as a national survey. Computer-generated random selection of nurses in Japan obtained responses from 1501 nurses. A descriptive design examined the levels of and differences in nursing professionalism. Comparisons of the total level of professionalism in educational preparation, current position, years of experience, and current practice setting were analysed by one-way analysis of variance and post hoc Tukey-Kramer multiple comparison test. The results revealed that Japanese nurses had low levels of professionalism, and professionalism was related significantly to higher educational preparation, years of experience as a nurse, and current position as a nursing administrator or faculty. The results can be used as a benchmark for continued assessments of the level of nursing professionalism and for further development of nursing professionalism.

Retinitis pigmentosa (RP) is a genetically heterogenous group of inherited retinal degenerative diseases resulting from photoreceptor cell death and affecting >1 million persons globally. Although oxidative stress has been implicated in the pathogenesis of RP, the mechanisms by which oxidative stress mediates photoreceptor cell death are largely unknown. Here, we show that oxidation of nucleic acids is a key component in the initiation of death-signaling pathways in rd10 mice, a model of RP. Accumulation of 8-oxo-7,8-dihydro-2'-deoxyguanosine (8-oxo-dG) increased in photoreceptor cells, and especially within their nuclei, in rd10 mice as well as in Royal College of Surgeons rats, another model of RP caused by different genetic mutations. Vitreous samples from humans with RP contained higher levels of 8-oxo-dG excreted than samples from nondegenerative controls. Transgenic overexpression of human MutT homolog-1, which hydrolyzes oxidized purine nucleoside triphosphates in the nucleotide pool, significantly attenuated 8-oxo-dG accumulation in nuclear DNA and photoreceptor cell death in rd10 mice, in addition to suppressing DNA single-strand break formation, poly(ADP-ribose) polymerase activation, and nuclear translocation of apoptosis-inducing factor. These findings indicate that oxidative DNA damage is an important process for the triggering of photoreceptor cell death in rd10 mice and suggest that stimulation of DNA repair enzymes may be a novel therapeutic approach to attenuate photoreceptor cell loss in RP.

Dendritic cell (DC)-based immunotherapy has potential for treating infections and malignant tumors, but the functional capacity of DC must be assessed in detail, especially maturation and Ag-specific CTL priming. Recent reports suggest that DC that are provided with continuous maturation signals in vivo after transfer into patients are required to elicit the full DC functions. We demonstrate in this study that the rSendai virus vector (SeV) is a novel and ideal stimulant, providing DC with a continuous maturation signal via viral RNA synthesis in the cytosol, resulting in full maturation of monocyte-derived DC(s). Both RIG-I-dependent cytokine production and CD4 T cell responses to SeV-derived helper Ags are indispensable for overcoming regulatory T cell suppression to prime melanoma Ag recognized by T cell-1-specific CTL in the regulatory T cell abundant setting. DC stimulated via cytokine receptors, or TLRs, do not show these functional features. Therefore, SeV-infected DC have the potential for DC-directed immunotherapy.

Malignant pleural mesothelioma (MPM) is highly intractable and readily spreads throughout the surface of the pleural cavity, and these cells have been shown to express urokinase-type plasminogen activator receptor (uPAR). We here examined the potential of our new and powerful recombinant Sendai virus (rSeV), which shows uPAR-specific cell-to-cell fusion activity (rSeV/dMFct14 (uPA2), named "BioKnife"), for tumor cell killing in two independent orthotopic xenograft models of human. Multicycle treatment using BioKnife resulted in the efficient rescue of these models, in association with tumor-specific fusion and apoptosis. Such an effect was also seen on both MSTO-211H and H226 cells in vitro; however, we confirmed that the latter expressed uPAR but not uPA. Of interest, infection with BioKnife strongly facilitated the uPA release from H226 cells, and this effect was completely abolished by use of either pyrrolidine dithiocarbamate (PDTC) or BioKnife expressing the C-terminus-deleted dominant negative inhibitor for retinoic acid-inducible gene-I (RIG-IC), indicating that BioKnife-dependent expression of uPA was mediated by the RIG-I/nuclear factor-κB (NF-κB) axis, detecting RNA viral genome replication. Therefore, these results suggest a proof of concept that the tumor cell-killing mechanism via BioKnife may have significant potential to treat patients with MPM that is characterized by frequent uPAR expression in a clinical setting.

BACKGROUND: Intestinal damage after ischemia followed by revascularization, referred to as "ischemia-reperfusion (I/R) injury," is a devastating complication that can occur after acute superior mesenteric obstruction, or after both elective and emergent abdominal aortic surgery. Once an entire layer of intestine is involved in severe ischemia, the mortality rate reaches 90%; no effective medical treatment has been reported to date. Here, we demonstrate that a somatostatin analogue, octreotide, but not a free-radical scavenger, MCI-186, prevented death due to surgically induced intestinal I/R injury in rats. METHODS: Superior mesenteric artery (SMA) of Male Sprague-Dawley rats, that received MCI-186 or octreotide, was surgically clamped, and then the clips were removed and SMA blood flow restored. Survival was assessed, and blood and small intestine were subjected to cell count, enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA), Western blotting, and immunohistochemistry. RESULTS: Of interest, pretreatment with octreotide, but not with MCI-186, just before induced intestinal ischemia prompted the early expression of heme oxygenase-1 (HO-1) protein-associated accumulation of CD68-positive cells, a possible cellular source of HO-1. Inversely, the administration of tin protoporphyrin IX (SnPPN), a specific inhibitor of HO-1, completely abolished the therapeutic effects of octreotide, indicating that the favorable effects of octreotide against intestinal I/R injury is predominantly dependent on the early induction of HO-1. CONCLUSIONS: These results suggest that a somatostatin analogue may be useful in leading to an improvement of the prognosis of patients with intestinal I/R injury in the clinical setting.

OBJECTIVE: The angiopoietin (Ang)-Tie-2 system plays a critical role during fetal and adult angiogenesis. Herein, we explored the Tie-2 shedding-related molecular mechanisms and the pathophysiological significance. METHODS AND RESULTS: By using a mouse hindlimb ischemia model, we observed dissociated expression between the full-length Tie-2 (fTie-2) protein and Tie-2 mRNA in thigh muscles 1 day after an ischemic operation, suggesting that fTie-2 expression was modified through the posttranscriptional regulation in vivo. A soluble form of Tie-2 produced in human umbilical vein endothelial cells was dramatically suppressed by treatment with siRNA-matrix metalloproteinase (MMP) 14 or tissue inhibitor of metalloproteinase 3, resulting in an increase in cellular fTie-2 and thereby enhancing Ang-1-dependent Akt phosphorylation and Akt-dependent endothelial functions, such as Ang-2 downregulation or an increase of endothelial viability. Phorbol-12-myristate-13 acetate (PMA) upregulates MMP-14 mRNA via protein kinase C-extracellular signal-regulated kinase pathways, and enhanced soluble Tie-2 production in an MMP-14-dependent manner, resulting in a reduction of cellular fTie-2. In addition, the PMA-induced soluble Tie-2 was mediated by the protein kinase C-extracellular signal-regulated kinase signaling pathways. Finally, downregulation of tissue inhibitor of metalloproteinase 3 and upregulation of MMP-14 mRNA were confirmed in ischemic thigh muscles 1 day after the operation. CONCLUSIONS: An autocrine linkage between the endothelial protein kinase C-MMP-14 axis and Tie-2 shedding was shown to be a novel regulatory mechanism for the Ang-Tie-2 system and may play a role in modulating endothelial function during angiogenesis.

We recently demonstrated efficient antitumor immunity against murine tumors using dendritic cells (DCs) activated by recombinant Sendai viruses (rSeVs), and proposed a new concept, "immunostimulatory virotherapy," for cancer immunotherapy. However, there has been little information on the efficacy of this method in preventing metastatic diseases. In this study, we investigated the efficacy of vaccinating DCs activated by fusion gene-deleted nontransmissible rSeV (rSeV/dF) using a murine model of lung metastasis. Bolus and i.v. administration of DCs harboring rSeV/dF-expressing GFP without pulsation of tumor Ag (DC-rSeV/dF-GFP) 2 days before tumor inoculation showed efficient prevention against lung metastasis of c1300 neuroblastoma, but not of RM-9 prostatic cancer. We found that the timing of DC therapy was critical for the inhibition of pulmonary metastasis of RM-9, and that the optimal effect of DCs was seen 28 days before tumor inoculation. Interestingly, the antimetastatic effect was sustained for over 3 mo, even when administered DCs were already cleared from the lung and organs related to the immune system. Although NK cell activity had already declined to baseline at the time of tumor inoculation, Ab-mediated depletion studies revealed that CD4+ cells as well as the presence of, but not the activation of, NK cells were crucial to the prevention of lung metastasis. These results are the first demonstration of efficient inhibition of lung metastasis via bolus administration of virally activated DCs that was sustained and NK/CD4+ cell-dependent, and may suggest a potentially new mechanism of DC-based immunotherapy for advanced malignancies.
