RESUMEN

Currently, one major target for exploring K-ion batteries (KIBs) is enhancing their cycle stability due to the intrinsically sluggish kinetics of large-radius K+ ions. Herein, we report a rationally designed electrode, the S/O co-doped hard carbon spheres with highly ordered porous characteristics (SPC), for extremely durable KIBs. Experimental results and theory calculations confirm that this structure offers exceptional advantages for high-performance KIBs, facilitating rapid K+ diffusion and (de)-intercalation, efficient electrolyte penetration and transport, improved K+ storage sites, and enhanced redox reaction kinetics, thus ensuring the long-term cycle stability. As a result, the as-constructed SPC anode delivers a high reversible capacity of ca. 200 mAh g-1 at a high current density of 2.0 A g-1 and robust stability with ∼100% capacity retention up to 11,000 cycles, outperforming most carbon-based KIB anodes. This work offers insight into developing advanced KIBs with durable stability toward practical applications.

RESUMEN

Carbohydrate is one kind of the most important additives in the production of surimi and surimi products, mainly due to its wide range of sources and superior functionality. In recent years, new carbohydrates (oligosaccharides and polysaccharides) have been gradually applied in the production of surimi and surimi products which is mainly driven by consumer requirement on nutritional and the flavors or taste quality and producer requirement on extending the shelf life, like low calorie intake, dietary fiber enrichment, rich taste and improvement of antioxidant properties. Besides anti-freezing and improvement in gelling ability, novel functionalities have been explored such as fat substitution, improving flavor, antibacterial effect, antioxidant effect and improving three-dimensional printability. With an in-depth study of the mechanism of carbohydrate improving the qualities of surimi and surimi products, the application of carbohydrates in surimi would be more effective. Therefore, this review summarizes the new carbohydrates applied in the processing of surimi and surimi products, and their novel functionalities. Additionally, progress of the research on the mechanism of carbohydrate improving the qualities of surimi is also reviewed. © 2023 Society of Chemical Industry.

RESUMEN

Carbohydrate is widely used in the production of surimi and surimi products to improve their qualities, such as anti-freezing capability, gelling ability, nutrition, flavor and 3D printability. More and more native carbohydrates have been modified through physical methods (e.g., ball milling, irradiation and differential sedimentation), chemical method (e.g., deacetylation, hydroxypropylation and acetic acid esterification) or enzymatic method (e.g., chitosanase) before being used in the processing of surimi and surimi products in recent years. At the same time, different carbohydrates are compounded and applied to surimi and surimi products. The modified and compounded carbohydrates in surimi have been proved to improve quality of surimi and surimi products more pronouncedly than native carbohydrates. Therefore, this review summarizes the manipulation of carbohydrate by modification and compounding to improve the qualities of surimi and surimi products. Moreover, the prospects for carbohydrate modification and compounding for use in surimi and surimi products are discussed. © 2023 Society of Chemical Industry.

RESUMEN

Fish inevitably face numerous stressors in growth, processing, and circulation. In recent years, stress-related change in fish muscle quality has gradually become a research hotspot. Thus, the understanding of the mechanism regarding the change is constantly deepening. This review introduces the physiological regulation of fish under stress, with particular attention devoted to signal transduction, gene expression, and metabolism, and changes in the physiological characteristics of muscular cells. Then, the influences of various stressors on the nutrition, physical properties, and flavor of the fish muscle are sequentially described. This review emphasizes recent advances in the mechanisms underlying changes in muscle quality, which are believed to be involved mainly in physiological regulation under stress. In addition, studies are also introduced on improving muscle quality by mitigating fish stress.

RESUMEN

BACKGROUND: The association between hepatitis B and concomitant diseases, such as fatty liver, T2DM, MetS, and Hp infection, remains unclear. AIM: The present study was to illustrate the association and explore the co-contribution on abnormal transaminase and progression of liver stiffness. METHODS: A total of 95,998 participants underwent HBsAg screening in West China Hospital from 2014 to 2017. Multivariable logistic regression was used to determine the adjusted odds ratios. RESULTS: The prevalence of HBsAg-positive rate was 8.30% of our included study population. HBsAg positive was associated with negative risk of fatty liver (odds ratio [OR] 0.71, 95% confidence interval [CI] 0.65-0.78, p < 0.001) and MetS (OR 0.74, 95% CI 0.67-0.84, p < 0.001), and with positive risk of Hp infection (OR 1.09, 95% CI 1.02-1.17, p = 0.012) and T2DM (OR 1.18, 95% CI 1.01-1.40, p = 0.043). Besides, HBsAg-positive patients with T2DM had higher risk of elevated ALT (OR 2.09, 95% CI 1.69-2.83, p < 0.001 vs OR 1.59, 95% CI 1.51-1.68, p < 0.001), AST (OR 2.69, 95% CI 1.98-3.65, p < 0.001 vs OR 1.89, 95% CI 1.76-2.02, p < 0.001) than HBV alone. In addition to HBV, T2DM also can increase the risk of liver fibrosis (OR 3.23, 95% CI 1.35-7.71, p = 0.008) and cirrhosis (OR 4.31, 95% CI 1.41-13.20, p = 0.010). CONCLUSION: Hepatitis B patients have a lower risk of fatty liver and MetS, and a higher risk of T2DM and Hp infection. Besides, T2DM might be possibly associated with abnormal liver transaminase and fibrosis progression in HBsAg-positive patients.

RESUMEN

BACKGROUND: Surimi is produced from the various sequences of filleting, deboning, washing, dehydrating, blending with cryprotectant, and freezing. Deboning, after which fish flesh is minced and separated from bone, skin, etc., is a vital step in the surimi production. In this study, effects of repeated deboning on yield, structure, composition, and gelling properties of silver carp surimi were investigated. RESULTS: Surimi yield increased rapidly from 10% to 23% as the cycle of repeated deboning was increased from one to three, and then slowly increased up to 26%. As the cycle increased, cellular structure and ultrastructure of muscle fibers progressively fractured. Contents of fat, cathepsins, heme proteins, and transglutaminase of surimi obviously increased and then decreased. Three-dimensional network of surimi gel without setting (NS gel) became more porous with the increase of cycles. It became more compact, and then turned to aggregated forms with lower homogeneity, for the surimi gel with setting (WS gel). Correspondently, the NS gel textural values gradually decreased with the cycles, while the WS gel textural values increased up to three cycles and then decreased. Regardless of setting, whiteness of surimi gels decreased and then increased with the cycles. CONCLUSION: Our results suggested that structure and compositions of surimi changed with the cycle of repeated deboning, which affected gelling properties of surimi. It is recommended to debone three or four cycles in silver carp surimi production. © 2022 Society of Chemical Industry.

RESUMEN

Xuanfu Daizhe Decoction, first seen in Zhang Zhongjing's Treatise on Cold Damage Diseases, was composed of seven medicinal materials: Inulae Flos, Glycyrrhizae Radix, Ginseng Radix, Zingiberis Rhizoma Recens, Haematitum, Pinelliae Rhizoma and Jujubae Fructus. It was used to treat gastric fullness and hardness and belching due to the wrong treatment of typhoid fever and sweating. With detailed records and description in ancient medical books, Xuanfu Daizhe Decoction was widely adopted in clinical practice by physicians of later generations, which expanded its main therapeutic functions. By comprehensive collation of ancient and modern literature on Xuanfu Daizhe Decoction, this paper systematically explored the historical evolution of the prescription from the source, composition, dosage, processing, clinical application, function interpretation and decocting method. It was found that the composition and processing method of the prescription in the past dynasties were relatively consistent, and there was a gradual decrease in dosage in clinical application. In ancient times, Xuanfu Daizhe Decoction was mainly used to treat nausea, vomiting, hiccups, constipation, etc., while modern clinicians mainly used it for digestive diseases such as reflux esophagitis and gastritis. Through the analysis and textual research, the composition, dosage, processing, function evolution and decocting method of this prescription were determined, which provided reference for the research and development of compound preparations of Xuanfu Daizhe Decoction.

RESUMEN

BACKGROUND: The transglutaminase-induced cross-linking reaction can enhance the textural properties of surimi gels. However, when the cross-linking degree exceeds a certain range, surimi gels become brittle, giving the gel a special mouthfeel. Little information is to be found regarding the brittleness of surimi gel and its formation mechanism. The present study aimed to investigate the effects of cross-links on physicochemical properties of surimi gel and to analyze the reason for the textural variation of surimi gels regulated by cross-links. RESULTS: When the cross-linking degree was lower than about 30%, the surimi gel could not be fractured and the surimi gel was mushy. When the cross-linking degree was around 40-55%, surimi gels without microbial transglutaminase (MTGase) presented an elastic texture, while surimi gels with MTGase displayed a tough texture. When the cross-linking degrees were 64.1% and 76.5%, surimi gels became brittle. Water holding capacity decreased with the increase in cross-linking degree and the cross-links released some combined water to free water. With the increase in cross-links, the pore equivalent diameter and the fractal dimension first decreased and then increased. When the cross-linking degree exceeded approximately 50%, hydrophobic interaction increased, consistent with the exposure of hydrophobic residues and the decrease in the water gap between proteins. CONCLUSION: The changes in gel texture were related to micro-network structure, water status and microenvironment of proteins. It was demonstrated that the texture of slowly heated surimi-based products could be regulated by controlling the TGase-induced cross-links. © 2021 Society of Chemical Industry.

RESUMEN

Existing research has established that openness to experience can enhance dispositional awe. For the first time, the current study examines whether subjective socioeconomic status (SSES) moderates and a Zhong-Yong thinking style mediates this effect. A sample of 2,377 Chinese undergraduates (mean age 20.7, ranging from 18 to 26) was recruited. As shown in previous research, openness was found to be positively associated with dispositional awe. As predicted, the relationship was moderated by familial and school SSES. The positive correlation was significantly larger in cases of lower familial and school SSES. The mediating effect of Zhong-Yong thinking style was also supported in the relationship between openness and dispositional awe, as was the moderating effect of familial SSES; however, a suppressive effect was found for school SSES. The implications of this study are discussed herein.

RESUMEN

BACKGROUND: Prenatal stress can cause neurobiological and behavioral defects in offspring; environmental factors play a crucial role in regulating the development of brain and behavioral; this study was designed to test and verify whether an enriched environment can repair learning and memory impairment in offspring rats induced by prenatal stress and to explore its mechanism involving the expression of insulin-like growth factor-2 (IGF-2) and activity-regulated cytoskeletal-associated protein (Arc) in the hippocampus of the offspring. METHODS: Rats were selected to establish a chronic unpredictable mild stress (CUMS) model during pregnancy. Offspring were weaned on 21st day and housed under either standard or an enriched environment. The learning and memory ability were tested using Morris water maze and Y-maze. The expression of IGF-2 and Arc mRNA and protein were respectively measured by using RT-PCR and Western blotting. RESULTS: There was an elevation in the plasma corticosterone level of rat model of maternal chronic stress during pregnancy. Maternal stress's offspring exposed to an enriched environment could decrease their plasma corticosterone level and improve their weight. The offspring of maternal stress during pregnancy exhibited abnormalities in Morris water maze and Y-maze, which were improved in an enriched environment. The expression of IGF-2, Arc mRNA, and protein in offspring of maternal stress during pregnancy was boosted and some relationships existed between these parameters after being exposed enriched environment. CONCLUSIONS: The learning and memory impairment in offspring of prenatal stress can be rectified by the enriched environment, the mechanism of which is related to the decreasing plasma corticosterone and increasing hippocampal IGF-2 and Arc of offspring rats following maternal chronic stress during pregnancy.

RESUMEN

BACKGROUND: Homeobox B4 (HOXB4) is correlated with poor prognosis of various cancer types. However, how HOXB4 promotes ovarian cancer (OV) progression remains unclear. METHODS: The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) database indicated that a high level of HOXB4 in OV was correlated with poor prognosis. The biological functions of HOXB4 were confirmed by colony formation, migration, and invasion assays. The effect of HOXB4 on the expression of EMT cell markers was determined. The transcriptional target of HOXB4 was DHDDS, which was detected by a ChIP assay. A xenograft tumor model was generated in nude mice to detect the role of HOXB4 in tumor proliferation and metastasis. RESULTS: The results showed that HOXB4 protein levels were higher in OV tissues than in normal tissues and correlated with poor prognosis of OV. HOXB4 reduction inhibited the proliferation and invasion ability of OV cells in vitro. Conversely, these effects were enhanced by the upregulation of HOXB4 in OV cells. The binding of HOXB4 to two DNA motifs regulated DHDDS expression and contributed to the malignant progression of OV. The role of HOXB4 in contributing to tumor development in vivo was verified in mice. Further results indicated that HOXB4 induced Snail and Zeb1 expression. CONCLUSION: Overall, HOXB4 overexpression was remarkably correlated with poor prognosis of OV. Mechanistically, HOXB4 enhances the proliferation and invasion of tumor cells by activating DHDDS, thereby promoting the malignant progression of OV.

RESUMEN

BACKGROUND: Blending and shearing, two types of comminution methods, are widely used in the manufacturing of surimi-based products. The comminution methods applied are varied to product types and manufacturers. In this study effects of different comminution methods (blending and shearing) on gelling properties of silver carp surimi were investigated. RESULTS: Regardless of comminution methods, breaking force, penetration distance and water holding capacity of surimi gel significantly increased with comminution duration up to 10 min. As compared with blending, those values under shearing of the same duration were significantly higher. Within 3 min of comminuting whiteness values of gels by shearing were significantly higher than those by blending. Electrophoresis studies showed that comminution method had no obvious effect on protein patterns. Scanning electron microscopy images revealed that more uniform and denser network was formed in the surimi gels made by shearing. Water distribution of the gels made by shearing was obviously more uniform according to magnetic resonance imaging analysis. CONCLUSION: Our results suggested that with respect to blending, shearing was a better choice to maximize the gelling ability of silver carp surimi, which resulted in the higher values of texture, whiteness and water holding capacity. It could be attributed to the denser three-dimensional network and more uniform water distribution of the surimi gel prepared by shearing. © 2019 Society of Chemical Industry.

RESUMEN

OBJECTIVE: To determine component changes of metabolic syndrome in pre-elderly people with healthy obese phenotype. METHODS: A total of 1 686 adults aged between 45-59 yr. who underwent health examinations from 2010 to 2016 in West China Hospital of Sichuan University participated in this study. The participants had healthy obese phenotype at the baseline but no history of diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol and cardiovascular disease. Component changes of metabolic syndrome (MS) and associated factors over the seven-year period were analysed using logistic regression modeling. RESULTS: The number of MS components increased over the years in centrally obese individuals, and 11.0% developed MS,including 118 men [(53.29±4.00) years old,66.95% current smokers,5.93% past smokers,24.58% alcohol drinkers] and 67 women [(52.01±4.06) years old,26.87% current smokers,1.49% past smokers,11.94% alcohol drinkers]. The most frequently presented MS components included higher fasting glucose, higher blood pressure and higher triglyceride. Healthy status (0 MS component) resumed in 44 participants who had abdominal obesity (1 MS component) at the baseline: 27 women and 17 men. Age (OR=1.732, 95%CI:1.594-1.882, P<0.000 1),smoking (OR=7.188, 95%CI:4.311-11.986, P<0.000 1) and drinking (OR=3.986, 95%CI:2.283-6.959, P<0.000 1) were identified as risk factors of MS. CONCLUSION: MS components increase over years in both men and women. Smoking and drinking are the main risk factors of MS progression. Regular MS surveillance and behavioral interventions are recommended for pre-elderly people with healthy obese phenotype.

RESUMEN

The present study was performed to investigate the seroprevalence and risk factors for Dirofilaria immitis infection in cats from Liaoning province, northeastern China. From October 2014 to September 2016, sera of 651 cats, including 364 domestic cats and 287 feral cats (332 females and 319 males) were assessed. They were tested for the presence of D. immitis antigen using SNAP Heartworm RT test kit. In this population, the average prevalence was 4.5%. Age and rearing conditions (feral or domestic) were found to be associated with the prevalence of D. immitis. The prevalence was significantly higher in feral cats compared with domestic cats (8.4% vs 1.4%, P<0.01). There was no significant difference between males and females (4.7% vs 4.2%, P>0.05), but older cats (≥3 years old) showed a statistically higher prevalence compared with younger cats (<3 years old) in feral populations (16.8 vs 2.4%, P<0.01), while the difference between the age groups was not statistically significant in domestic cats (2.4% vs 0.51%, P>0.05), all these results suggest that outdoor exposure time may be one of the most important factors for D. immitis prevalence in cats. Results reveal that D. immitis are prevalence in domestic and feral cats in northeastern China, which indicates that appropriate preventive measures should be taken to decrease the incidence of feline heartworm disease in Liaoning province, northeastern China.

RESUMEN

OBJECTIVES: To investigate the association between obesity and osteoporosis in men aged above 50 in Chengdu. METHODS: Male participants aged above 50 were recruited from those who visited West China Hospital of Sichuan University for health examinations. Bone mineral density was measured by MetriScan Bone Densitometry. The participants were divided into three groups according to T values: normal, osteopenia and osteoporosis. RESULTS: About 5.75% (525 cases) of the 9 135 male participants had osteoporosis. The three groups had significant different anthropometric parameters, including body mass, waist circumference, hip circumference, body mass index (BMI), waist-hip ratio (WHR), waist-height ratio (WHtR), a body shape index (ABSI), and body roundness index (BRI)( P<0.01). The participants with the highest quartile (Q4) of BMI, BRI, WHtR, WHR, ABSI, waist circumference and height had an age-adjusted odds ratios (OR) of 0.443 [95% confidence interval ( CI): 0.342-0.574), 0.580 (95% CI: 0.454-0.740), 0.587 (95% CI: 0.460-0.751), 0.664 (95% CI: 0.516-0.854], 1.369 (95% CI: 1.069-1.751), 0.634 (95% CI: 0.497-0.809), and 1.357 (95% CI: 1.047-1.758), respectively, for osteoporosis compared with those with the lowest quartile (Q1). The area under cures (AUC) of receiver operator characteristic (ROC) curve of BMI for osteoporosis was 0.606 (95% CI:0.580-0.632). CONCLUSIONS: Large body mass was negatively associated with osteoporosis in middle and old aged men. BMI is the strongest predictor of osteoporosis. Further longitudinal studies are required to verify such asscoiations.

RESUMEN

Activity and half-life play key roles in the application of GHRH analogues. The GHRH monomers produced in a solid synthesizer were incubated, respectively, in NH4OH solution and lyophilized to obtain their dimers. The activities, specificities, and receptor affinities of the GHRH dimers were evaluated in rGH release/inhibition, rACTH/LH/PRL release, pituitary homogenate binding, and fluorescent staining. Compared to hGHRH(1-44)NH2 (S), PP-hGHRH(1-44)-GGC-CGG-hGHRH(44-1)-PP (2D), P-hGHRH(1-44)-GGC-CGG-hGHRH(44-1)-P (2E), (1)P-hGHRH(2-44)-GGC-CGG-hGHRH(44-2)-(1)P (2F), or hGHRH(1-44)-GGC-CGG-hGHRH(44-1) (2Y) had potency of 104 ± 16.7%, 94 ± 32.6%, 114 ± 16.6%, or 122 ± 14.5% and similar specificities. The inhibition effect of GHIH on rGH stimulated by GHRH dimer was in dose-/time-dependent manner. The staining of FITC-labeled dimer showed cytomembrane distribution and the binding ranking was 2F>2D>2Y>2E>S. 2F presents the strongest activity and the highest affinity to pituitary cells. The dimer with (1)Pro-GHRH stimulates stronger rGH release than that with (1)Tyr-GHRH and the N-terminal single cyclic amino acid is required for the stimulation.

RESUMEN

Flower number per panicle is one of the most important traits in rice productivity determination. The number of flowers is established in the early stages of panicle development. Nitrogen fertilizer application before panicle initiation is well known to increase flower number. Nitrogen increases cytokinin (CKs) biosynthesis in plants, and CKs have very similar effects as nitrogen fertilizer on panicle branching. The effects of nitrogen fertilizer on panicle branching may be mediated by CKs, in which accumulation in the inflorescence meristem can regulate panicle development, resulting in increased numbers of flowers and branches. Adenosine phosphate-isopentenyltransferase (IPT) catalyzes the rate-limiting step of CKs biosynthesis. We analyzed the effect of nitrogen fertilizer (urea) on the expression of OsIPT genes (OsIPTs). The results showed that OsIPTs were markedly increased, and CKs accumulated in panicle when nitrogen fertilizer was applied. CKs biosynthesis in the roots and leaves was not up-regulated by nitrogen. These results suggest that nitrogen fertilizer enhances local CKs synthesis to increase flower numbers in the panicles of rice. Localized CKs biosynthesis is an important response to nitrogen.

RESUMEN

OBJECTIVE: To investigate cardiovascular risk factors in women with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) combined with subclinical hypothyroidism (SCH). PATIENTS: A place-controlled study was performed. Group 1: 29 patients with PCOS and SCH; Group II: 35 patients with PCOS and normal thyroid function; and Group III: 34 healthy women with normal thyroid function. MAIN MEASURE INDEXES: Total cholesterol (TC), triglyceride (TG), low-density lipoprotein (LDL) and high-density lipoprotein (HDL), Carotid Arterial Intima-Media Thickness (CIMT), free triiodothyronine 3 (FT3), free triiodothyronine 4 (FT4), thyroid stimulating hormone (TSH), fasting glucose, 1-hour oral glucose tolerance test (OGTT1), 2-hour oral glucose tolerance test (OGTT2), fasting insulin, insulin after 1 hour oral glucose (INS1), insulin after 2 h oral glucose (INS2), HOM-IR = (fasting glucose × fasting insulin)/22.5. RESULTS: TG, TC FIN, INS1, and HOM-IR levels were significantly higher, but the mean HDL level was significantly lower in Group I than in Group II (p < 0.05). LDL cholesterol, FGOGTT1, OGTT2, and insulin after 2 h oral glucose were not significantly higher in Group I than in Group II (p > 0.05). TG, TC, FIN and INS contents 2 h meal, HOM-IR levels were significantly higher, and the mean HDL cholesterol level was significantly lower in Group I than in Group III (p < 0.05). Blood glucose levels after 1 and 2 h were not significantly higher in Group I than in the Group III (p > 0.05). Carotid Arterial Intima-Media Thickness (CIMT) was significantly thicker in Group I than other two groups. CONCLUSIONS: The PCOS patients combined with SCH have higher risk of cardiovascular risk factors than in controls or in patients with PCOS.

RESUMEN

OBJECTIVE: To investigate the change of bone mineral density and bone metabolism biochemical markers in subclinical hypothyroidism. METHODS: This study included total 122 patients with subclinical hypothyroidism and 153 healthy age and gender matched people as control. All the patients and controls were subjected to the measurements of bone density by dual energy X-ray absorptiometry (DEXA), and serum free triiodothyronine (FT3), free thyroxine (FT4), thyroid stimulating hormone (TSH), Ca2+, PO4(3+), alkaline phosphatase (ALP) levels. All the data was analyzed statistically with the stratification of gender and menopause status. RESULTS: Compared to the control, the patients with subclinical hypothyroidism had significantly higher incidence of bone mass loss (P < 0.005) and lower level of Serum Ca2+ (P < 0.05) and higher levels of serum PO4(3+), T-value and Z-value (P < 0.05). Furthermore, premenopausal women had higher Z-value (P < 0.01) , but no significantly differences of T-value, serum PO4(3+) was found either in pre-menopause or post-menopause women when compared to the control. Multiple linear regression analysis showed gender (B = 0.543, P < 0.0001) was positive correlation with T value, female had lower T values. Moreover, T value was negative correlated to menopausal status (B = -0.274, P = 0.001), age (B = -0.161, P < 0.0001) and TSH (B = -0.108, P < 0.0001). CONCLUSION: Subclinical hypothyroism appears decreased serum calcium and low bone density.

RESUMEN

OBJECTIVE: To determine the value of focal area of ground-glass opacity (fGGO) for early detection and diagnosis of lung cancers. METHODS: We reviewed clinical data of all patients whose chest CT images showed isolated lesions < or = 5 cm in diameter in the Department of Chest Surgery at West China Hospital, Sichuan University between 2007 and 2010. According to the volume of solid components, the lesions were classified as pure ground-glass opacity (pGGO), mixed ground-glass opacity (mGGO) or solid lesions. The malignant ratio and stage of lesions were calculated based on the postoperative pathological tests. The characteristics of CT signs were compared between the benign and malignant lesions. RESULTS: Of the 202 cases, 63 (included 15 pGGO and 48 mGGO) had fGGO with a malignant ratio of 71.4% (45/63). The percentage of malignant tumors in the mGGO, pGGO and solid lesions was 75.0%, 60.0% and 48.2% respectively. Stage I lung cancers had an occurrence of spiculation, lobulation and vascular convergence in fGGO of over 70%, higher than that of the benign tumors (P < 0.05). CONCLUSION: fGGO is an important indicator of lung cancer. mGGO is highly likely to be malignant, particularly when one or more signs of spiculation, lobulation and vascular convergence appear.
