RESUMEN

We show that the Klein bottle entropy [H.-H. Tu, Phys. Rev. Lett. 119, 261603 (2017)PRLTAO0031-900710.1103/PhysRevLett.119.261603] for conformal field theories perturbed by a relevant operator is a universal function of the dimensionless coupling constant. The universal scaling of the Klein bottle entropy near criticality provides an efficient approach to extract the scaling dimension of lattice operators via data collapse. As paradigmatic examples, we validate the universal scaling of the Klein bottle entropy for Ising and Z_{3} parafermion conformal field theories with various perturbations using numerical simulation with continuous matrix product operator approach.

RESUMEN

BACKGROUND: Ocular adnexal lymphoma (OAL) and idiopathic orbital inflammation (IOI) are malignant and benign lesions for which radiotherapy and corticosteroids are indicated, but similar clinical manifestations make their differentiation difficult. PURPOSE: To develop and validate an MRI-based radiomics nomogram for individual diagnosis of OAL vs. IOI. STUDY TYPE: Retrospective. POPULATION: A total of 103 patients (46.6% female) with mean age of 56.4 ± 16.3 years having OAL (n = 58) or IOI (n = 45) were divided into an independent training (n = 82) and a testing dataset (n = 21). FIELD STRENGTH/SEQUENCE: A 3-T, precontrast T1-weighted imaging (T1WI), T2-weighted imaging (T2WI), and postcontrast T1WI (T1 + C). ASSESSMENT: Radiomics features were extracted and selected from segmented tumors and peritumoral regions in MRI before-and-after filtering. These features, alone or combined with clinical characteristics, were used to construct a radiomics or joint signature to differentiate OAL from IOI, respectively. A joint nomogram was built to show the impact of the radiomics signature and clinical characteristics on individual risk of developing OAL. STATISTICAL TESTS: Area under the curve (AUC) and accuracy (ACC) were used for performance evaluation. Mann-Whitney U and Chi-square tests were used to analyze continuous and categorical variables. Decision curve analysis, kappa statistics, DeLong and Hosmer-Lemeshow tests were also conducted. P < 0.05 was considered statistically significant. RESULTS: The joint signature achieved an AUC of 0.833 (95% confidence interval [CI]: 0.806-0.870), slightly better than the radiomics signature with an AUC of 0.806 (95% CI: 0.767-0.838) (P = 0.778). The joint and radiomics signatures were comparable to experienced radiologists referencing to clinical characteristics (ACC = 0.810 vs. 0.796-0.806, P > 0.05) or not (AUC = 0.806 vs. 0.753-0.791, P > 0.05), respectively. The joint nomogram gained more net benefits than the radiomics nomogram, despite both showing good calibration and discriminatory efficiency (P > 0.05). DATA CONCLUSION: The developed radiomics-based analysis might help to improve the diagnostic performance and reveal the association between radiomics features and individual risk of developing OAL. EVIDENCE LEVEL: 3 TECHNICAL EFFICACY: 3.

RESUMEN

Quantitative analysis of the weak antilocalization (WAL) effect of topological surface states in topological insulators is of tremendous importance. The major obstacle to achieve accurate results is how to eliminate the contribution of the anisotropic magnetoconductance of bulk states when the Fermi level lies in bulk bands. Here, we demonstrate that we can analyze quantitatively and accurately the WAL effect of topological surface states in topological insulator, BiSbTeSe2 (BSTS), by measuring the anisotropic magnetoconductance. The anomalous conductance peaks induced by the WAL effect of topological surface states of BSTS together with the anisotropic magnetoconductance of bulk states have been observed. By subtracting the anisotropic magnetoconductance of bulk states, we are able to analyze the WAL effect of topological surface states using the Hikami-Larkin-Nagaoka expression. Our findings offer an alternative strategy for the quantitative exploration of the WAL effect of topological surface states in topological insulators.

RESUMEN

BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE: The anterior communicating artery (Acoma) aneurysms are difficult to understand because of their anatomical variations. This study reported a new classification of Acoma aneurysms on a basis of endovascular treatments. METHODS: This retrospective study enrolled consecutive 94 patients harbored 100 Acoma aneurysms treated with coil embolization. All Acoma aneurysms were classified into 5 orientations (straight, superior, inferior, anterior, and posterior) based on the axis connecting A1 origin and the base of the aneurysm. Aneurysm characteristics, endovascular treatments, angiographic, and clinical outcomes were evaluated using this classification. RESULTS: According to this classification, there were 64 (64%) straight, 16 (16%) inferior, 16 (16%) superior, 2 (2%) anterior, and 2 (2%) posterior projection aneurysms. There were significant differences between different groups in aneurysm height (p=0.009) and aneurysm neck size (p = 0.003), and in endovascular treatments (p=0.006). There was a significant difference in the proportion of rupture presentation among the three groups of straight, inferior, and superior (p = 0.019). There was no difference in the results of postoperative angiography (p = 0.090). An excellent functional outcome with an mRS ≤1 was achieved in 91 (96.8%) patients. CONCLUSIONS: This classification of Acoma aneurysms based on the axis connecting A1 origin and the base of the aneurysm is associated with aneurysm height, aneurysm neck size, and in need for stent-assisted therapy. Endovascular embolization can provide the same effective treatment for aneurysms in all directions.

RESUMEN

The inferior petrosal sinus (IPS) is the most commonly used transvenous approach to obliterate the carotid-cavernous fistula (CCF). We presented a case of direct CCF was successfully embolized through contralateral jugular vein via the prevertebral vein at the level of the atlanto-occipital membrane. Because of the confluence of the caudal end of the IPS and the prevertebral vein at the medial side of the hypoglossal canal, the transvenous route through the ipsilateral jugular vein was failed. Transcirculation approach via the prevertebral vein at the level of the atlanto-occipital membrane seems to be the choice when venous access is available.

RESUMEN

Colon cancer is one of the typical malignant tumors, and its prevalence has increased yearly. The ketogenic diet (KD) is a low-carbohydrate and high-fat dietary regimen that inhibits tumor growth. Donkey oil (DO) is a product with a high nutrient content and a high bioavailability of unsaturated fatty acids. Current research investigated the impact of the DO-based KD (DOKD) on CT26 colon cancer in vivo. Our findings revealed that DOKD administration significantly lowered CT26+ tumor cell growth in mice, and the blood ß-hydroxybutyrate levels in the DOKD group was significantly higher than those in the natural diet group. Western blot results showed that DOKD significantly down-regulated Src, hypoxia inducible factor-1α (HIF-1α), extracellular signal-related kinases 1 and 2 (Erk1/2), snail, neural cadherin (N-cadherin), vimentin, matrix metallopeptidase 9 (MMP9), signal transducer and activator of transcription 3 (STAT3), and vascular endothelial growth factor A (VEGFA), and it significantly up-regulated the expressions of Sirt3, S100a9, interleukin (IL)-17, nuclear factor-kappaB (NF-κB) p65, Toll-like receptor 4 (TLR4), MyD88, and tumor necrosis factor-α. Meanwhile, in vitro validation results showed that LW6 (a HIF-1α inhibitor) significantly down-regulated the expressions of HIF-1α, N-cadherin, vimentin, MMP9, and VEGFA, which supported those of the in vivo findings. Furthermore, we found that DOKD inhibited CT26+ tumor cell growth by regulating inflammation, metastasis, and angiogenesis by activating the IL-17/TLR4/NF-κB p65 pathway and inhibiting the activation of the Src/HIF-1α/Erk1/2/Snail/N-cadherin/Vimentin/MMP9 and Erk1/2/HIF-1α/STAT3/VEGFA pathways. Our findings suggest that DOKD may suppress colon cancer progression and help prevent colon cancer cachexia.

RESUMEN

To analyze the complications of the standard proximal plug technique in arteriovenous malformations (AVMs) embolization by Onyx and promote ante-grade drifting technique for AVM embolization. Seven publications reporting complications of AVM embolization by Onyx were identified and reviewed. Render descriptive statistics regarding causes of ischemic and hemorrhagic complications within 1 month following treatment were provided. A novel Onyx injection technique was proposed to overcome these problems. All reported transarterial Onyx AVM embolizations were conducted by employing the proximal plug technique. Causes of complications elicited by utilizing this strategy may generally be attributed to long-fluoroscopy and long-procedure times, embolisate reflux across a considerable extent of the vessel, catheter entrapment, extravasation of Onyx from the arterial lumen, catheter transgression through the arterial wall, the use of an Onyx volume exceeding, and venous occlusion preceding arterial feeder shutdown. Complications occurring during the course of attempts at embolizing AVMs utilizing Onyx constitute unfortunate causes of patient morbidity resulting from this conventional technique. We suggest that institution of a novel "ante-grade drifting technique" for Onyx injection may avoid these commonly elicited deficits. The proximal plug technique has a series of drawbacks that lead to serious adverse outcomes of AVM embolization. The Onyx embolization technology for AVM could be updated to improve clinical outcomes.

RESUMEN

OBJECTIVE: To describe the off-label uses of pipeline embolization device for a variety of types of aneurysms including ruptured aneurysms, posterior circulation aneurysms, small aneurysms, distal aneurysms, and recurrent aneurysms. METHODS: Clinical and angiographic data of patients who underwent pipeline embolization device treatment on off-label use at our center were retrospectively reviewed. For categorical variables, Fisher's exact test was used, and a two-sample Wilcoxon rank-sum test was used for patients' age to analyze the correlation with outcomes. RESULTS: In this study, 121 aneurysms in 107 patients received off-label pipeline embolization device treatments. The overall rate of complete aneurysm occlusion was 77.8% (28/36 in 35 patients) for posterior circulation aneurysms and 95.3% (81/85 in 72 patients) for anterior circulation aneurysms. The posterior circulation aneurysms have a lower rate of aneurysm occlusion (p = 0.0372). The small aneurysms have a higher rate of aneurysm occlusion (p = 0.0104). The patient's sex, age, and aneurismal size were associated with ischemic stroke complications (p = 0.0397, 0.0166, and 0.0178). In posterior circulation aneurysm patients, only two basilar apex aneurysms underwent pipeline embolization device treatment, both of whom died of thrombotic complications. There was no difference in mortality between posterior circulation aneurysm patients (8.6%, 3/35) and anterior circulation aneurysm patients (1.4%, 1/72) (p = 0.1015). Patients of older age have a higher risk of death rate (p = 0.0053). CONCLUSIONS: The off-label use of pipeline embolization device is often performed in clinical practice and can achieve efficacy in complex aneurysms. The off-label use of pipeline embolization device was found to carry an increased rate of mortality in older patients. Excluding basilar apex aneurysms, the pipeline embolization device is as safe as anterior circulation aneurysms in the treatment of posterior circulation aneurysms elsewhere.

RESUMEN

In order to explore the quality variation and flavor formation of dry-cured donkey leg, the changes in physical−chemical composition, lipolytic, free amino acids content and volatile flavor compounds were investigated in this study. Six fresh, trimmed hind legs with average weight of 8.12 ± 0.8 kg were taken from male Dezhou donkeys slaughtered at the age of 24 months with the average live weight of 240 kg. The entire processing time was eight months long including six stages, specifically: cooling, salting, air-drying, fermenting and aging. Samples were collected at 0 d, 10 d, 20 d, 30 d, 65 d, 105 d and 165 d of processing. The results showed that the pH value remained stable in the range of 6.2~6.6. The moisture and water activity significantly decreased (p < 0.05) during processing. The chloride content, ash, total volatile basic nitrogen (TVB-N) and peroxide value (POV) significantly increased (p < 0.05), from 0.45% to 12.39%, from 3% to 17%, from 1.43 mg/kg to 8.98 mg/kg and from 1.39 g/100 g to 5.26 g/100 g, respectively. The thiobarbituric acid (TBARS) value reached its highest value of 0.39 mg MDA/kg at the end of the salting stage and then decreased to 0.34 mg MDA/kg. Eighteen free amino acids and fifteen free fatty acids were detected, and their contents were significantly increased during processing (p < 0.05). Volatile compounds were analyzed using solid-phase microextraction (SPME) and gas chromatography−mass spectrometry (GC−MS). Among 114 volatile compounds detected in dry-cured donkey leg, aldehydes, esters, alkane and alcohols were more abundant in the final products, with relative concentrations of 41.88%, 5.72%, 5.35% and 5.25%, respectively. Processing significantly affected the physical−chemical properties, which could contribute to the formation of flavor substances of dry-cured donkey leg.

RESUMEN

In this study, the microbial community succession and the protein hydrolysis of donkey meat during refrigerated (4°C) storage were investigated. 16S rDNA sequencing method was used to analyze the bacteria community structure and succession in the level of genome. Meanwhile, the volatile base nitrogen (TVB-N) was measured to evaluate the degradation level of protein. After sorting out the sequencing results, 1,274,604 clean data were obtained, which were clustered into 2,064 into operational taxonomic units (OTUs), annotated to 32 phyla and 527 genus. With the prolonging of storage time, the composition of microorganism changed greatly. At the same time, the diversity and richness of microorganism decreased and then increased. During the whole storage period, Proteobacteria was the dominant phyla, and the Photobacterium, Pseudompnas, and Acinetobacter were the dominant genus. According to correlation analysis, it was found that the abundance of these dominant bacteria was significantly positively correlated with the variation of TVB-N. And Pseudomonas might play an important role in the production of TVB-N during refrigerated storage of donkey meat. The predicted metabolic pathways, based on PICRUSt analysis, indicated that amino metabolism in refrigerated donkey meat was the main metabolic pathways. This study provides insight into the process involved in refrigerated donkey meat spoilage, which provides a foundation for the development of antibacterial preservative for donkey meat.

RESUMEN

A large negative magnetoresistance (NMR) is anticipated in topological semimetals in parallel magnetic fields, demonstrating the chiral anomaly, a long-sought high-energy-physics effect, in solid-state systems. Recent experiments reveal that the Dirac semimetal Cd3As2 has the record-high mobility and positive linear magnetoresistance in perpendicular magnetic fields. However, the NMR has not yet been unveiled. Here we report the observation of NMR in Cd3As2 microribbons in parallel magnetic fields up to 66% at 50 K and visible at room temperatures. The NMR is sensitive to the angle between magnetic and electrical fields, robust against temperature and dependent on the carrier density. The large NMR results from low carrier densities in our Cd3As2 samples, ranging from 3.0 × 10(17) cm(-3) at 300 K to 2.2 × 10(16) cm(-3) below 50 K. We therefore attribute the observed NMR to the chiral anomaly. In perpendicular magnetic fields, a positive linear magnetoresistance up to 1,670% at 14 T and 2 K is also observed.
