RESUMO

Three dyes-diesters of monoimides of perylene-3,4,9,10-tetracarboxylic acid were synthesized in three-stage process: esterification, hydrolysis, and monoimidation as potential fluorescent light-stable colorants for high visibility safety wear. The structure of these compounds was confirmed by 1H nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy and mass spectrometry, and their spectroscopic and physicochemical properties were determined. Colorants were applied to dyeing polyester fibre and polystyrene and poly (methyl methacrylate) films. The light, wash, and rubbing fastness of the dyeings were determined, and chromaticity coordinates were measured and discussed.

OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the clinical outcomes of arthroscopic inside-out ganglionectomy of dominant dorsal wrist ganglion. METHODS: Patients with dominant wrist ganglion cyst treated in our hospital from January 1, 2014 to June 31, 2023 was enrolled in this retrospective analysis. All patients underwent dye-assist arthroscopic inside-out ganglionectomy. After discharge, the patients were followed for a minimum of 6 months. The primary outcomes were to assess patient wrist function using the Patient-Rated Wrist Evaluation (PRWE) and Mayo Modified Wrist Score (MMWS). The secondary outcomes were visual analog score (VAS), wrist active range of motion (ROM), grip strength, recurrence rate and complication. RESULTS: All ganglion were successfully resected after dye staining. Patients were followed for an average of 12.17 months. There were no significant changes between preoperative and postoperative wrist active ROM or grip strength, except for wrist flexion (which showed a slightly greater improvement after surgery, P = 0.049), there were notable improvements in VAS, MMWS, and PRWE postoperatively. Recurrence occurred in 3 patients. No major complications observed during the follow-up period. CONCLUSION: Dye-assist arthroscopic inside-out ganglionectomy is safe and uncomplicated, worth of clinical promotion.

Fuchs endothelial corneal dystrophy (FECD) is a leading cause of corneal endothelial degeneration resulting in impaired visual acuity. Excessive deposition of extracellular matrix (guttae) on Descemet's membrane (DM) is the hallmark of FECD. We sought to detect the guttae area rapidly using aniline blue (AB) staining in FECD mouse model. FECD mouse model was established via ultraviolet A (UVA) exposure. Masson's trichrome staining was utilized to stain the corneal sections. AB staining was utilized to stain both whole cornea tissues and stripped Descemet's membrane-endothelium complex (DMEC) flat mounts, while immunofluorescence staining of collagen I was employed to stain guttae areas. In Masson's trichrome staining, corneal collagen fibrils were stained blue with AB. The DMEC flat mounts were stained into relative dark blue areas and relative light blue areas using 2% AB staining. The areas of dark blue could almost overlap with collagen I-positive areas, and have an acellular centre and a moderately distinct boundary line with the surrounding corneal endothelial cells. In conclusion, AB staining is a rapid and effective method for the evaluation of the guttae areas in the FECD mouse model.

Accurate lymph node (LN) retrieval during colorectal carcinoma resection is pivotal for precise N-staging and the determination of adjuvant therapy. Current guidelines recommend the examination of at least 12 mesocolic or mesorectal lymph nodes for accurate staging. Traditional histological processing techniques, reliant on visual inspection and palpation, are time-consuming and heavily dependent on the examiner's expertise and availability. Various methods have been documented to enhance LN retrieval from colorectal specimens, including intra-arterial ex vivo methylene blue injection. Recent studies have explored the utility of indocyanine green (ICG) fluorescence imaging for visualizing pericolic lymph nodes and identifying sentinel lymph nodes in colorectal malignancies. This study included 10 patients who underwent colon resection for malignant tumors. During surgery, intravenous ICG dye and an endoscopic camera were employed to assess intestinal perfusion. Post-resection, ex vivo intra-arterial administration of ICG dye was performed on the specimens, followed by routine histological processing and an ICG-assisted lymph node dissection. The objective was to evaluate whether ICG imaging could identify additional lymph nodes compared to routine manual dissection and to assess the clinical relevance of these findings. For each patient, a minimum of 12 lymph nodes (median = 25.5, interquartile range = 12.25, maximum = 33) were examined. ICG imaging facilitated the detection of a median of three additional lymph nodes not identified during routine processing. Metastatic lymph nodes were found in four patients however no additional metastatic nodes were detected with ICG assistance. Our findings suggest that ex vivo intra-arterial administration of indocyanine green dye can augment lymph node dissection, particularly in cases where the number of lymph nodes retrieved is below the recommended threshold of 12.

Multi-aptamer recognition of breast cancer cells (MCF-7) is utilized to achieve high specificity. The method comprises two parts, aptamer-functionalized mesoporous silica nanoparticles (MSNs) loaded with dissimilar dyes (thymolphthalein or curcumin) as signal transducers and aptamer-modified magnetic beads (MBs) as capture agents, which worked together to detect MCF-7 cells sensitively and accurately. The results indicated that the aptasensor has a linear detection range of 100 to 4000 cells and a detection threshold of 10 cells/mL. The method had been successfully employed to detect breast cancer cells in real blood samples to distinguish between breast cancer patients and healthy individuals. In conclusion, the development of the multi-aptamer-based colorimetric sensor offered a novel method for the highly selective detection of MCF-7 cells, contributing to the accurate identification of breast cancer.

The rapid detection of contaminants in water resources is vital for safeguarding the environment, where the use of eco-friendly materials for water monitoring technologies has become increasingly prioritized. In this context, the role of biocomposites in the development of a SERS sensor is reported in this study. Grafted chitosan was employed as a matrix support for Ag nanoparticles (NPs) for the surface-enhanced Raman spectroscopy (SERS). Chitosan (CS) was decorated with thiol and carboxylic acid groups by incorporating S-acetyl mercaptosuccinic anhydride (SAMSA) to yield CS-SAMSA. Then, Ag NPs were immobilized onto the CS-SAMSA (Ag@CS-SAMSA) and characterized by spectral methods (IR, Raman, NIR, solid state 13C NMR with CP-MAS, XPS, and TEM). Ag@CS-SAMSA was evaluated as a substrate for SERS, where methylene blue (MB) was used as a model dye adsorbate. The Ag@CS-SAMSA sensor demonstrated a high sensitivity (with an enhancement factor ca. 108) and reusability over three cycles, with acceptable reproducibility and storage stability. The Raman imaging revealed a large SERS effect, whereas the MB detection varied from 1-100 µM. The limits of detection (LOD) and quantitation (LOQ) of the biocomposite sensor were characterized, revealing properties that rival current state-of-the-art systems. The dye adsorption profiles were studied via SERS by fitting the isotherm results with the Hill model to yield the ΔG°ads for the adsorption process. This research demonstrates a sustainable dual-function biocomposite with tailored adsorption and sensing properties suitable for potential utility in advanced water treatment technology and environmental monitoring applications.

The presence of organic dyes in aqueous environments is extremely hazardous to life due to the toxicity of these compounds. Thus, its removal from these various aquatic media is of the utmost importance, and several technologies are constantly being tested to meet this goal. Among these technologies, various types of degradation and adsorption techniques are typically used, and of the various types of materials used within these technologies, nanomaterials are constantly being developed and investigated, likely due to the various properties that these nanomaterials have. This work reviewed recent developments (in 2023) about the use of these nanomaterials in the treatment of solutions contaminated with these toxic organic dyes.

Water contamination is a serious issue that has an impact on the whole globe. In the current work, adsorption technique was used to remove synthetic Reactive Blue MEBF 222 textile dye utilizing Cd-doped Co (Co1 - xCd1.5xFeO3), Zn-doped Co (Co1 - xZn1.5xFeO3), Cr-doped Co (Co1 - xCr1.5xFeO3), Zn-doped Ni (Ni1 - xZn1.5xFeO3), and Cr-doped Ni (Ni1 - xCr1.5xFeO3) perovskites, synthesized by sol-gel auto-combustion approach. According to the findings of batch adsorption studies, maximum adsorption was observed at pH 3 (45.62 mg/g), 0.01 g/50 ml dosage (36.67 mg/g), 60 min (14.31 mg/g), 100 ppm dye concentration (47.41 mg/g), and 308 K (35.96 mg/g) for Co1 - xCd1.5xFeO3; at 3 pH (42.94 mg/g), 0.01 g/50 ml dosage (35.33 mg/g), 60 min (12.88 mg/g), 100 ppm dye concentration (40.52 mg/g), and 308 K (31.31 mg/g) for Co1 - xZn1.5xFeO3; at 2 pH (38.82 mg/g), 0.01 g/50 ml dosage (32.20 mg/g), 60 min (11.98 mg/g), 100 ppm dye concentration (33.54 mg/g), and 308 K (29.34 mg/g) for Co1 - xCr1.5xFeO3; at 2 pH (34.97 mg/g), 0.01 g/50 ml dosage (30.41 mg/g), 60 min (10.46 mg/g), 100 ppm dye concentration (27.19 mg/g), and 308 K (26.12 mg/g) for Ni1 - xZn1.5xFeO3; and at 2 pH (31.22 mg/g), 0.01 g/50 ml dosage (25.04 mg/g), 60 min (9.48 mg/g), 100 ppm dye concentration (21.73 mg/g), and 308 K (23.61 mg/g) for Ni1 - xCr1.5xFeO3. The pseudo-second-order model showed good fitness for adsorption kinetic data. Electrolytes, detergents/surfactants, and heavy metal ions had a substantial impact on the adsorption potential. The column adsorption experiments demonstrated optimal bed height, flow rate, and intake dye concentration to be 3 cm, 1.8 ml/min, and 70 mg/l, respectively, in the column experiment. With an adsorption capacity of 44.1 mg/g, reactive blue (RB) 222 dye was able to achieve its maximum adsorption. Detailed desorption of RB 222 dye was also achieved. The novelty of this adsorption method lies in its eco-friendliness, ease of handling, and cost-effectiveness.

A global water crisis is emerging due to increasing levels of contaminated water and decreasing clean water supply on Earth. This study aims to address the removal of azo dye from wastewater to enable its reuse. Recently, utilizing microorganisms has been proven to be a practical choice for the remediation of azo dyes in wastewater. Hence, in this study, we employed a preformed biofilm of Pseudomonas aeruginosa on a solid support (called substrate) to degrade azo dyes. This process offers several advantages, such as stability, substrate portability, more biofilm production in less time, and efficient utilization of enzymes for remediation. From 50 ppm of initial Congo Red concentration, 75.74% decolorization was achieved within ten h using a preformed biofilm on a coverslip. A maximum of 52.27% decolorization was achieved using biofilm during its formation after 72 h of incubation. The Fourier-transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopic analysis of Congo Red dye before and after remediation revealed a significant change in peak intensity, indicating dye degradation. Phytotoxicity studies performed by seed germination with Vigna radiata revealed that, after 5-7 days, almost 40% more seeds with longer root and shoot lengths were germinated in the presence of treated dye compared to the untreated one. This data indicated that the harmful Congo Red was successfully degraded to a non-toxic product by Pseudomonas aeruginosa biofilm grown on a glass substrate.

INTRODUCTION: Robotic-assisted surgery has become increasingly popular because of its potential benefits. Anatomical liver resection (ALR) is a valuable strategy in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) management. ALR with indocyanine green (ICG) fluorescence navigation was reported as an effective solution for segment identification. We reported a simple and convenient "preoperative positive staining technique" for laparoscopic ALR to overcome some limitations. To our knowledge, this is the first report of robotic-assisted surgery in which ALR was performed using this technique. MATERIALS AND SURGICAL TECHNIQUE: A 69-year-old man presented with a 12-mm HCC in segment 8. Preoperative three-dimensional simulation images showed that the fourth-order branch of the portal vein was a tumor-bearing portal pedicle. After anesthesia induction, 1 mL of 0.025 mg/mL ICG was injected percutaneously into this branch under B-mode ultrasound guidance before pneumoperitoneum. A robotic laparoscope was inserted. The preoperative positive staining area was clearly stained on the liver surface with the Firefly mode on the da Vinci Xi system. Based on the demarcation line, the liver parenchymal resection was started. The ICG fluorescence staining area was checked frequently on the resected side of the liver transection plane. Subsequently, the fourth-order portal branch was identified with the ICG fluorescence technique and ligated. Finally, the specimen was resected. The operation took 352 min, with 10 mL of blood loss, and was completed without any operative problems. DISCUSSION: Although many cases are required, the proposed preoperative positive staining technique appears useful for accurate and precise surgery given the increasing application of robotic-assisted hepatectomy.

Two polyurethane polyaniline nanocomposites have been synthesized using two in situ polymerization routes of dried and wet bases to valorize the polyurethane waste. The physical and chemical properties of polyurethane-based nanocomposites were compared using SEM, XRD, FTIR, and Zeta potential. SEM images showed that the average particle size of the dried-based composite was 56 nm, while the wet-based composite had an average size of 75 nm. The separation efficiency for methylene blue (MB) and Congo red (CR) dyes was evaluated against free polyurethane foam waste. It was evident that pure polyurethane (PPU) achieved only 4.79% and 16.71% removal for MB and CR, respectively. These dye decontamination efficiencies were enhanced after nano polyaniline decoration of polyurethane foam either through dried base polymerization (DPUP) or wet base polymerization (WPUP). WPUP composite records 11.23% and 85.99% for MB and CR removal, respectively, improved to 26.69% and 90.07% removal using DPUP composite for the respective dyes. The adsorption kinetics, isotherms, and thermodynamics were investigated. The experimental results revealed the pseudo-second-order kinetic model as the most accurately described kinetics model for both CR and MB adsorption. The Langmuir model provided the best fit for the data, with maximum adsorption capacities of 110.98 mg/g for CR and 26.86 mg/g for MB, with corresponding R-squared values of 0.9974 and 0.9608, respectively. Regeneration and reusability studies of PPU, WPUP, and DPUP showed effective reusability, with DPUP displaying the highest adsorption capacity. These results aid in creating eco-friendly and cost-efficient adsorbents for dye removal in environmental sanitation.

BACKGROUND: India ink has been a popular choice for a tattooing agent in preoperative endoscopic localization but often results in unfavorable effects. Subsequently, autologous blood tattooing has arisen as an alternative option. Due to the limited availability of comparative studies on the matter, we conducted a study to compare the perioperative outcomes associated with India ink tattooing versus autologous blood tattooing. METHODS: A total of 96 patients who underwent minimally invasive surgical procedures for left-sided colonic neoplasm following preoperative endoscopic localization were included in the study. These patients were categorized into two groups: 36 patients who received India ink tattooing and 60 patients who underwent autologous blood tattooing. The perioperative outcomes including procedure-related outcomes and postoperative outcomes were compared between the two groups. RESULTS: There was no significant difference in visibility and spillage of tattooing agent between India ink group and autologous blood group. However, India ink group showed a higher incidence of post-tattooing fever, higher level of postoperative C-reactive protein level, longer time to first flatus, resumption of surgical soft diet, and duration of hospital stay, and a higher occurrence of postoperative complications including ileus and surgical site infection compared with the autologous blood group. In the multivariate analysis, India ink tattooing was significantly associated with the occurrence of postoperative complications. In the subgroup analysis involving patients with intraperitoneal spillage, the autologous blood group demonstrated significantly favorable perioperative outcomes compared with India ink group. CONCLUSIONS: Autologous blood tattooing demonstrated comparable visibility and enhanced safety, establishing it as a potential alternative to India ink for preoperative endoscopic localization.

The use of protein stains to enhance fingermark ridge detail in blood is a common technique used by forensic practitioners around the world. Amido Black is one of the most favoured protein stains due to its strong staining ability. The most common formulation of Amido Black is methanol based, with an ability to simultaneously fix and stain the blood impression, however methanol is toxic and can disrupt some surfaces, potentially compromising fingermark detail. If the surface is suspected of being a material that is impacted by methanol, there is an alternative aqueous formulation, which requires a fixative step to set the blood prior to staining so as not to wash away potential ridge detail. The multi-step process of aqueous protein stains is tedious and numerous studies have been conducted to improve the formula to achieve a combined fixing/staining solution that performs like the methanolic reagent. A combined fixative and stain formulation of aqueous based Amido Black was compared to a multi-step formulation with a separate sulfosalicylic acid fixative. Of the 243 split fingermark impressions analysed the majority (63.5 %) showed no preference to either treatment, with a marginally greater proportion of the remaining marks slightly favouring the combined fixative and stain formulation. Given that the new combined formulation performed broadly similarly to the existing multi step formulation, the potential time savings of this simpler approach may be beneficial to implement into operational use.

Fingermark impressions in blood are commonly encountered at violent crime scenes and represent a critical trace that can link an individual to the scene. A range of techniques are available for detecting and enhancing bloody impressions; however, many chemical methods involve using hazardous solvents or require alternative light sources to visualise fluorescence. This is particularly challenging for bloody impressions on dark substrates. An alternative treatment is the protein dye known as acid fuchsin (commonly known as 'Hungarian Red'), which can be visualised under both white light and fluorescence lighting. However, there is limited research available on this method, especially concerning its use in detecting bloody fingermarks on dark surfaces and its fluorescence qualities. To address these knowledge gaps, this study broadly aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of acid fuchsin for enhancing bloody fingermarks on a range of common substrates, along with comparing the performance of a formulation made from base components against a commercially-available Hungarian Red reagent. Through a multi-phased experimental approach, results supported an all-in-one treatment that contained 2 % SSA, 0.2 % acid fuchsin, and deionised water as the most effective. This formulation performed as well or better than commercial Hungarian Red, amido black and acid yellow in the validation trial. Enhanced impressions could be visualised under white light on light and dark surfaces, whilst 530 nm excitation provided improved detection via both fluorescence and absorption modes depending on substrate background interference. Moreover, the reagent was applied by spraying directly onto substrates placed at near-vertical angles, with no evidence of any fingermarks being affected by running or inadequate fixing. The ability to enhance and visualise bloody impressions on light and dark surfaces, under white light or excitation, using a single, water-based treatment is highly advantageous to operational crime scene examiners and forensic scientists.

BACKGROUND: Breast cancer is a global health problem, and sentinel lymph node biopsy (SLNB) is the standard procedure for early-stage breast cancer. Technetium-99 (TC-99), alone or combined with blue dye (BD) are conventional tracers for SLNB, but they have safety, availability, and cost limitations. Indocyanine green (ICG) is an alternative tracer that has been gaining acceptance among healthcare professionals. This study aimed at assessing the clinical and economic value of ICG in hospital settings, using the health technology assessment (HTA) framework. METHODS: We conducted a comprehensive evaluation of ICG for SLNB, based on literature sources and data collected from two Italian hospitals that switched from TC-99 to ICG. We analyzed ICG's technical attributes through technology documentation and relevant databases. We performed a systematic literature review of 36 studies to assess the clinical effectiveness and safety of ICG. We obtained organizational insights from clinicians and the clinical engineer involved in the study. We applied Time-Driven Activity-Based Costing (TDABC) and Budget Impact Analysis (BIA) to estimate the economic impact of ICG. The ethical, legal, and social implications of ICG were considered through clinicians' inputs and technology documentation. RESULTS: Our results showed that ICG had equivalent or superior clinical effectiveness compared to TC-99 and BD, with minimal adverse events. ICG simplified the surgical pathways, by streamlining procedures, reducing waiting times, and increasing flexibility in scheduling surgeries. Moreover, the TDABC analysis showed significant cost reductions by avoiding the need for pre-operative lymphoscintigraphy and hospitalization, with average savings per single care pathway of around 18% for ICG compared to TC-99. Finally, ICG improved patient experience, and proved regulatory compliance. CONCLUSIONS: This study provided strong evidence for ICG's clinical and economic value for SLNB in breast cancer. It ascertained ICG as a valuable alternative to conventional tracers, ensuring clinical effectiveness along with economic and organizational benefits.

ConspectusDue to the advantages of spatiotemporal selectivity and inherent noninvasiveness, cancer phototherapy, which includes both photodynamic therapy (PDT) and photothermal therapy (PTT), has garnered significant attention in recent years as a promising cancer treatment. Despite the commendable progress in this field, persistent challenges remain. In PDT, limitations in dyes manifest as low intersystem crossing (ISC) efficiency and oxygen-dependent photoactivity, resulting in unsatisfactory performance, particularly under hypoxic conditions. Similarly, PTT encounters consistent insufficiencies in the photothermal conversion efficiency (PCE) of dyes. Additionally, the suboptimal phototherapeutic efficacy often exhibits a limited immune response. These factors collectively impose significant constraints on phototherapy in oncological applications, leading to limited tumor inhibition, tumor recurrence, and even metastasis.Unlike strategies that rely on external assistance with complicated systems, manipulating excited-state deactivation pathways in biocompatible dyes offers a universal way to systematically address these challenges. Our group has devoted considerable effort to achieving this goal. In this Account, we present and discuss our journey in optimizing excited-state energy-release pathways through regulating molecular charge transfer based on cyanine dyes, which are renowned for their exceptional photophysical properties and harmonious biocompatibility. The investigation begins with the introduction of amino groups in the meso position of a heptamethine cyanine dye, where the intramolecular charge transfer (ICT) effect causes a significant enlargement of the Stokes shift. Subsequently, ICT induced by introducing functional electron-deficient groups in cyanines is found to decrease the overlap of electron distribution or narrow the energy gaps of molecular frontier orbitals. Such modifications result in a reduction of the energy gaps between singlet and triplet states or an improvement in internal conversion, ultimately promoting phototherapy efficacy in both primary and distant tumors. Furthermore, with the intensification of the charge transfer effect aided by light, photoinduced intramolecular electron transfer occurs in some cyanines, leading to complete charge separation in the excited state. This process enhances the transition to the ground or triplet states, improving tumor phototherapy and inhibiting metastasis by increasing the PCE or the yield of reactive oxygen species, respectively. Shifting focus from intramolecular to intermolecular interactions, we successfully constructed and explored cyanines based on intermolecular charge transfer. These dyes, with excited-state dynamics mimicking natural photosynthesis, generate radicals and facilitate oxygen-independent hypoxic tumor PDT. Finally, we outlined the existing challenges and future directions for optimizing phototherapeutic efficacy by regulating molecular charge transfer. This Account provides molecular-level insights into improving phototherapeutic performance, offering valuable perspectives, and inspiring the development of functional dyes in other application fields.

Orange II, an azo dye used in textile and leather industries, is toxic and contributes to reducing dissolved oxygen in water. In this sense, agri-food waste adsorbents offer efficient, cost-effective dye removal. In this study, potato surpluses were evaluated as adsorbents for the removal of Orange II at 22 °C and pH values between 4 and 9. The adsorbents were characterized by their morphology, elemental composition, infrared spectra, and point of zero charge. Adsorption isotherms were analysed using Langmuir and Freundlich models, revealing that the Langmuir equation (0.933 < r2 > 0.882) better described the adsorption process compared to the Freundlich model (0.909 < r2 > 0.852). The maximum adsorption capacity at pH 4 was 1.1 and 2.3 times higher than at pH 7 and 9, respectively. This increased capacity at pH 4 was due to favourable electrostatic interactions between the cationic adsorbent surface and the anionic dye. A kinetic model was developed to understand the adsorption dynamics of Orange II, demonstrating high accuracy with coefficients of determination (r2) exceeding 0.99 across various pH values. The predictions of the kinetic model aligned well with the Langmuir isotherm results, indicating a strong theoretical foundation. The critical contact time required to achieve the minimum adsorbent concentration necessary for meeting a discharge limit of 14.7 mg L-1 was determined using both the Langmuir and kinetic models. Simulation profiles showed that when the adsorbent concentration was increased from 12 to 40 g L-1, the contact time necessary to achieve the discharge limit decreased from 26 to 3.35 h, highlighting the trade-off between contact time and cost. This study offers a cost-effective solution for wastewater treatment and presents a robust model for optimizing batch adsorption processes, marking a significant advancement in using potato surpluses for dye removal.

In this study, four adsorbents were developed: layered silicate magadiite material (mag), Hexadecyltrimethylammonium intercalated magadiite (HDTMA@mag), a cross-linked composite of sodium alginate and magadiite (ALG@mag) and a cross-linked composite of sodium alginate and HDTMA@magadiite (ALG@HDTMA@mag). The adsorbents were evaluated for their effectiveness in removing of Methylene Blue (MB) and Eriochrome Black T (EBT) dyes. The prepared adsorbents were characterized using SEM, XRD, FTIR, and zeta potential measurements. Kinetic modeling results indicated that both film diffusion and intraparticle diffusion are useful as rate-determining processes in adsorption for all adsorbents. For both dyes, the Langmuir isotherm model provided a good correlation with the adsorption equilibrium data. ANOVA analysis for the best adsorbent (ALG@HDTMA@mag beads) revealed that MB removal was significantly influenced by the positive individual effects of contact time and ALG@HDTMA@mag dose. However, the individual effect of MB concentration exhibited an antagonistic effect throughout the adsorption process. The optimal parameters for achieving an adsorption capacity of 118.54 mg/g were a dye concentration of 60 ppm, a contact period of 1800 min, and an ALG@HDTMA@mag dose of 50 mg.

Efficient filtering of dyes is essential for the protection of ecosystem and human health due to the considerable water pollution caused by the effluents released from the sector. We present a simple, scalable UV radiation-assisted method for treating methyl orange dye-polluted water from the textile industry using zirconium phosphate-loaded polyaniline-graphene oxide (PGZrP) composite. The new material was synthesized by sonochemically incorporating a polyaniline-graphene oxide composite with hydrothermally synthesized zirconium phosphate. The efficacy of PGZrP in eliminating methyl orange was evaluated using experimental conditions, and the adsorption capacity was investigated as a function of pH, temperature, adsorbent dosage, and adsorption period. The system follows Langmuir adsorption isotherm with pseudo-second-order kinetics. Thermodynamics studies showed that enthalpy (H°) and entropy (S°) values are positive, indicating that the dye adsorption increases with increasing temperature and is an endothermic reaction. The maximum adsorption capacity was found to be 36.45379 mg/g for methyl orange. Using the COMSOL Multiphysics CFD Platform, an attempt was made to check the temperature and concentration profile of a PGZrP composite in a real industrial system. The predicted result shows that there is no significant temperature change in the material during the adsorption process and the concentration of dye is mainly located on the top region of the bed. The developed zirconium phosphate decorated polyaniline-graphene oxide composite can be successfully utilized for the effective removal of methyl orange from industrial wastewater in bulk quantity which is coming from the textile industry, and the composite can be reused for several cycles with good efficiency. In this work, we have designed a miniaturized proof of concept to remove methyl orange from water which showed good dye removal efficiency.
