ABSTRACT

Our previous research revealed a key microRNA signature that is associated with spaceflight that can be used as a biomarker and to develop countermeasure treatments to mitigate the damage caused by space radiation. Here, we expand on this work to determine the biological factors rescued by the countermeasure treatment. We performed RNA-sequencing and transcriptomic analysis on 3D microvessel cell cultures exposed to simulated deep space radiation (0.5 Gy of Galactic Cosmic Radiation) with and without the antagonists to three microRNAs: miR-16-5p, miR-125b-5p, and let-7a-5p (i.e., antagomirs). Significant reduction of inflammation and DNA double strand breaks (DSBs) activity and rescue of mitochondria functions are observed after antagomir treatment. Using data from astronaut participants in the NASA Twin Study, Inspiration4, and JAXA missions, we reveal the genes and pathways implicated in the action of these antagomirs are altered in humans. Our findings indicate a countermeasure strategy that can potentially be utilized by astronauts in spaceflight missions to mitigate space radiation damage.

ABSTRACT

The interplay between genetics and economics is important in understanding how crossbreeding can be harnessed to optimize sustainable poultry production, meat quality, and economic viability. This study was conducted to investigate the effect of crossbreeding on growth performance, meat quality, and production economics. A total of 451 unsexed day-old chicks were raised for 12 wk in a pure (Sasso X Sasso [SS]; Wassachie X Wassachie [WW]) and reciprocal cross (Sasso X Wassachie [SW]; Wassachie X Sasso [WS]) design. Data was collected on growth performance, meat quality, sensory evaluation, proximate analysis, and production economics. Genotype did not affect (P > 0.05) moisture, dry matter, ash, sensory evaluation, pH, and meat temperature. The carcass weights, final body weight, and cumulative weight gain of the hybrids were intermediate while the SS recorded the highest (P < 0.05) values. Drip loss between the WW and the reciprocal crosses was similar (P > 0.05) but lower (P < 0.05) than the SS genotype. Protein contents between the purebreds were similar likewise the crossbreds (P > 0.05). The SW cross recorded a higher (P < 0.05) lipid content compared to the WW cross while the WS recorded a higher (P < 0.05) protein content compared to the SS. The SS incurred higher feeding costs, and gross and net returns followed by the SW and then the WS with the WW having the lowest values. Crossbreeding improved growth performance, carcass traits, meat quality, chemical composition, and the gains in the crossbreds with the SW genotype having better results. The SW cross is recommended for better performance.

BACKGROUND: Familial hypercholesterolemia (FH), while highly prevalent, is a significantly underdiagnosed monogenic disorder. Improved detection could reduce the large number of cardiovascular events attributable to poor case finding. We aimed to assess whether machine learning algorithms outperform clinical diagnostic criteria (signs, history, and biomarkers) and the recommended screening criteria in the United Kingdom in identifying individuals with FH-causing variants, presenting a scalable screening criteria for general populations. METHODS AND RESULTS: Analysis included UK Biobank participants with whole exome sequencing, classifying them as having FH when (likely) pathogenic variants were detected in their LDLR, APOB, or PCSK9 genes. Data were stratified into 3 data sets for (1) feature importance analysis; (2) deriving state-of-the-art statistical and machine learning models; (3) evaluating models' predictive performance against clinical diagnostic and screening criteria: Dutch Lipid Clinic Network, Simon Broome, Make Early Diagnosis to Prevent Early Death, and Familial Case Ascertainment Tool. One thousand and three of 454 710 participants were classified as having FH. A Stacking Ensemble model yielded the best predictive performance (sensitivity, 74.93%; precision, 0.61%; accuracy, 72.80%, area under the receiver operating characteristic curve, 79.12%) and outperformed clinical diagnostic criteria and the recommended screening criteria in identifying FH variant carriers within the validation data set (figures for Familial Case Ascertainment Tool, the best baseline model, were 69.55%, 0.44%, 65.43%, and 71.12%, respectively). Our model decreased the number needed to screen compared with the Familial Case Ascertainment Tool (164 versus 227). CONCLUSIONS: Our machine learning-derived model provides a higher pretest probability of identifying individuals with a molecular diagnosis of FH compared with current approaches. This provides a promising, cost-effective scalable tool for implementation into electronic health records to prioritize potential FH cases for genetic confirmation.

ABSTRACT

To receive the benefits of social living, individuals must make effective group decisions that enable them to achieve behavioural coordination and maintain cohesion. However, heterogeneity in the physical and social environments surrounding group decision-making contexts can increase the level of difficulty social organisms face in making decisions. Groups that live in variable physical environments (high ecological heterogeneity) can experience barriers to information transfer and increased levels of ecological uncertainty. In addition, in groups with large phenotypic variation (high individual heterogeneity), individuals can have substantial conflicts of interest regarding the timing and nature of activities, making it difficult for them to coordinate their behaviours or reach a consensus. In such cases, active communication can increase individuals' abilities to achieve coordination, such as by facilitating the transfer and aggregation of information about the environment or individual behavioural preferences. Here, we review the role of communication in vertebrate group decision-making and its relationship to heterogeneity in the ecological and social environment surrounding group decision-making contexts. We propose that complex communication has evolved to facilitate decision-making in specific socio-ecological contexts, and we provide a framework for studying this topic and testing related hypotheses as part of future research in this area. ABSTRACT

AIMS: Patients undergoing emergency general surgery are at high risk of complications and death. Our objectives were to estimate the incidence of emergency general surgery in a Swiss University Hospital, to describe the characteristics and outcomes of patients undergoing such procedures, and to study the impact of age on clinical outcomes. METHODS: This was a retrospective cohort study of adult patients who visited the emergency department (ED) of Geneva University Hospitals between January 2015 and December 2019. Routinely collected data were extracted from electronic medical records. The primary outcome was the incidence of emergency general surgery among patients visiting the emergency department, defined as general surgery within three days of emergency department admission. We also assessed demographic characteristics, mortality, intensive care unit admission and patient disposition. Multivariable log-binomial regression was used to study the associations of age with intensive care unit (ICU) admission, one-year mortality and dependence at discharge. Age was modelled as a continuous variable using restricted cubic splines and we compared older patients (75th percentile) with younger patients (25th percentile). RESULTS: Between January 2015 and December 2019, a total of 310,914 emergency department visits met our inclusion criteria. Among them, 3592 patients underwent emergency general surgery within 3 days of emergency department admission, yielding an annual incidence of 116 events per 10,000 emergency department visits (95% CI: 112-119), with a higher incidence in females and young patients. Overall, 5.3% of patients were admitted to ICU, 7.8% were dependent on rehabilitation or assisted living at discharge and 4.8% were dead after one year. Older patients had a higher risk of ICU admission (adjusted risk ratio (aRR) 2.9 [1.5-5.4]), dependence at discharge (aRR 15.3 [5.5-42.4]) and one-year mortality (aRR 5.4 [2.2-13.4]). CONCLUSION: Emergency department visits resulting in emergency general surgery are frequent, but their incidence decreases with patient age. Mortality, ICU admission and dependence at discharge following emergency general surgery are more frequent in older patients. Taking into account the increased risk for older patients, a shared process is appropriate for making more informed decisions about their options for care.

ABSTRACT

Understanding the effect of crossbreeding on egg quality and incubation is essential for the selection of superior genetic combinations in breeding programs. This study evaluated the effect of crossbreeding on egg quality and incubation activities of the Sasso and Wassache chickens in a pure (Sasso X Sasso [SS]; Wassache X Wassache [WW]) and reciprocal cross (Wassache X Sasso [WS]; Sasso X Wassache [SW]) design. A total of 1431 eggs were incubated while 400 eggs were selected for egg quality. Fertility, hatchability, and hatching activities were expressed in percentage, while egg quality traits were determined. The crosses with Sasso hens laid similar (P > 0.05) but heavier (P < 0.05) eggs with higher (P < 0.05) egg components compared to the crosses with Wassache hens. The SS, SW, and WW genotypes recorded similar (P > 0.05) early embryonic mortality (EEM) and were lower (P < 0.05) compared to the WS genotype. Late embryonic mortality (LEM) between the reciprocal crosses and SS was similar (P > 0.05) and lower (P < 0.05) compared to the WW. The hatchability and hatchability of fertile eggs between the purebreds and the SW cross were comparable (P > 0.05), while those of the WS genotype was lower compared to the SS cross. Hatch duration in the crossbreds was shorter (P < 0.05) compared to the pure Sasso. Mortality between the SW and WW was similar (P > 0.05) while the WS cross recorded a higher (P < 0.05) mortality compared to the purebreds. Crossbreeding improved egg quality, reduced LEM, and accelerated crossbred hatching events. The SW cross is recommended for better performance.

Research in prehospital and in-hospital emergency medicine is essential to the development of this discipline. By calling certain practices into question (thrombolysis for minor strokes, use of coagulation factors for patients with severe polytrauma), providing access to new technologies (video-laryngoscopy, POCT troponins in pre-hospital care) or questioning new practices (double defibrillation, pulmonary US in pneumonia), research enables emergency physicians to adapt their day-to-day practice.


La recherche en médecine d'urgence, tant sur le plan préhospitalier qu'hospitalier, est nécessaire et même indispensable à la fois au développement de cette discipline, mais également à la reconnaissance de ses spécificités. Par la remise en question de certaines pratiques (thrombolyse pour les AVC mineurs, utilisation de facteurs de la coagulation pour le polytraumatisé sévère), l'accès à de nouvelles technologies (vidéo-laryngoscopie, troponines POCT en préhospitalier) ou le questionnement sur de nouvelles pratiques (double défibrillation, US pulmonaire dans la pneumonie), la recherche permet aux urgentistes d'adapter leur pratique quotidienne à l'état de l'art.

ABSTRACT

Muscle atrophy and weakness are prevalent and debilitating conditions in dogs that cannot be reliably prevented or treated by current approaches. In non-canine species, the natural dietary compound ursolic acid inhibits molecular mechanisms of muscle atrophy, leading to improvements in muscle health. To begin to translate ursolic acid to canine health, we developed a novel ursolic acid dietary supplement for dogs and confirmed its safety and tolerability in dogs. We then conducted a randomized, placebo-controlled, proof-of-concept efficacy study in older beagles with age-related muscle atrophy, also known as sarcopenia. Animals received placebo or ursolic acid dietary supplements once a day for 60 days. To assess the study's primary outcome, we biopsied the quadriceps muscle and quantified atrophy-associated mRNA expression. Additionally, to determine whether the molecular effects of ursolic acid might have functional correlates consistent with improvements in muscle health, we assessed secondary outcomes of exercise participation and T-maze performance. Importantly, in canine skeletal muscle, ursolic acid inhibited numerous mRNA expression changes that are known to promote muscle atrophy and weakness. Furthermore, ursolic acid significantly improved exercise participation and T-maze performance. These findings identify ursolic acid as a natural dietary compound that inhibits molecular mechanisms of muscle atrophy and improves functional performance in dogs.

BACKGROUND AND IMPORTANCE: The Swiss Emergency Triage Scale (SETS) is an adult triage tool used in several emergency departments. It has been recently adapted to the pediatric population but, before advocating for its use, performance assessment of this tool is needed. OBJECTIVES: The purpose of this study was to assess the reliability and the accuracy of the pediatric version of the SETS for the triage of pediatric patients. DESIGN, SETTING, AND PARTICIPANTS: This study was a cross-sectional study among a sample of emergency triage nurses (ETNs) exposed to 17 clinical scenarios using a computerized simulator. OUTCOME MEASURES AND ANALYSIS: The primary outcome was the reliability of the triage level performed by the ETNs. It was assessed using an intraclass correlation coefficient.Secondary outcomes included accuracy of triage compared with expert-based triage levels and factors associated with accurate triage. MAIN RESULTS: Eighteen ETNs participated in the study and completed the evaluation of all scenarios, for a total of 306 triage decisions. The intraclass correlation coefficient was 0.80 (95% confidence interval, 0.69-0.91), with an agreement by scenario ranging from 61.1% to 100%. The overall accuracy was 85.8%, and nurses were more likely to undertriage (16.0%) than to overtriage (4.3%). No factor for accurate triage was identified. CONCLUSIONS: This simulator-based study showed that the SETS is reliable and accurate among a pediatric population. Future research is needed to confirm these results, compare this triage scale head-to-head with other recognized international tools, and study the SETSped in real-life setting.

ABSTRACT

Basement membranes are among the most widespread, non-cellular functional materials in metazoan organisms. Despite this ubiquity, the links between their compositional and biophysical properties are often difficult to establish due to their thin and delicate nature. In this article, we examine these features on a molecular level by combining results from proteomics, elastic, and nanomechanical analyses across a selection of human basement membranes. Comparing results between these different membranes connects certain compositional attributes to distinct nanomechanical signatures and further demonstrates to what extent water defines these properties. In all, these data underline BMs as stiff yet highly elastic connective tissue layers and highlight how the interplay between composition, mechanics and hydration yields such exceptionally adaptable materials.

ABSTRACT

This is an overview of the EAS Familial Hypercholesterolaemia (FH) Studies Collaboration (FHSC) global consortium and registry (established 2015), which broadly addresses the global burden of FH. Eighty-seven National Lead Investigators from 74 countries form this expanding global consortium, and this global registry currently includes pooled data on 70,000 participants from participating countries to facilitate FH surveillance. Published first results from this global registry concluded that FH is diagnosed late, and management of LDL-cholesterol falls below guideline recommendations, and therefore earlier detection of FH and wider use of combination therapy is required. Further FHSC studies will follow on updated data including new countries, participants and variables, and non-DNA genetic information, and on the remaining cohorts in the registry. FHSC cross-sectional collaborative global studies are expected to promote FH detection earlier in life to subsequently initiate early lipid lowering therapy to reduce lifelong exposure to cumulative LDL-cholesterol thus reducing cardiovascular disease risk.

BACKGROUND AND IMPORTANCE: With the exception of the 3 classic shunt placement options (ventriculoperitoneal, ventriculopleural, and ventriculoatrial), surgically feasible alternative sites for distal catheter placement remain limited and often require the assistance of an access surgeon. Tubbs et al suggested the possibility of intraosseous cerebrospinal fluid diversion in the ilium, noting that ilium infusion in cadaveric specimens was possible without the development of body edema or fluid overflow. Since this publication, limited case reports have been published on the success of ventriculo-ilium (VI) shunt placement. Here, we describe the technique used for successful VI shunt placement in 2 adult patients. CLINICAL PRESENTATION: Here, we describe 2 patients with differing etiologies of hydrocephalus (obstructive and nonobstructive) and complex medical and surgical problems precluding traditional distal shunt termini. Both patients underwent successful placement of a VI shunt with distal catheter placement into the right iliac crest using a small right-angle connector and small cranial fixation plate to prevent backout of the catheter. DISCUSSION AND CONCLUSION: We report the first demonstration of successful placement of a VI shunt in 2 adult patients with evidence of shunt functionality and improved neurological outcome. We propose that the placement of a VI shunt is an easy and viable option when more traditional shunt methods are not available for use.

Polymer nanoparticles (NPs) loaded with drugs and contrast agents have become key tools in the advancement of nanomedicine, requiring robust technologies for their synthesis. Nanoprecipitation is a particularly interesting technique for the assembly of loaded polymer NPs, which is well-known to proceed under kinetic control, with a strong influence of the assembly conditions. On the other hand, the nature of the used polymer also influences the outcome of nanoprecipitation. Here, we investigated systematically the relative effects of mixing of the organic and aqueous phases and polymer chemistry on the formation of polymer nanocarriers. For this, two mixing schemes, manual mixing and microfluidic mixing using an impact-jet micromixer, were first evaluated, showing mixing times of several tens of milliseconds and a few milliseconds, respectively. Copolymers of ethyl methacrylate with charged and hydrophilic groups and different polyesters (poly(d-l-lactide-co-glycolide) and poly(lactic acid)) were combined with a fluorescent dye salt and tested for particle assembly using these "slow" and "fast" mixing methods. Our results showed that in the case of the most hydrophobic polymers, the speed of mixing had no significant influence on the size and loading of the formed NPs. In contrast, in the case of less hydrophobic polymers, faster mixing led to smaller NPs with better encapsulation. The switch between mixing and polymer-controlled assembly was directly correlated to the solubility limit of the polymers in acetonitrile-water mixtures, with a critical point for solubility limits between 15 and 20 vol % of water. Our results provide simple guidelines on how to evaluate the possible influence of polymer chemistry and mixing on the formation of loaded NPs, opening the way to fine-tune their properties and optimize their large-scale production.

This study aimed to assess the genetic diversity and population structure of 12 guinea fowl phenotypes from three climatic zones (Guinean, Sudano-Guinean and Sudanian) of Benin. A total of 96 adult guinea fowl, aged at least 6 months, were selected for blood sampling. Fragment analysis was carried out using 17 polymorphic microsatellite markers. The informative marker combinations revealed a total of 83 alleles across all loci, with an average of 5 alleles per locus and a mean polymorphic information content (PIC) of 0.793. This study showed an observed heterozygosity of 0.492. The inbreeding coefficient values ranged from -0.086 in white phenotype to 0.226 in cinnamon, showing a deficit of heterozygotes, suggesting a moderate inbreeding level. A relatively low population differentiation was observed, with a mean fixation index (Fst) value of 0.033. The short genetic distances between phenotypes, unlike the strong genetic identities, revealed high genetic proximity between the 12 phenotypes of indigenous guinea fowl in Benin. These data indicate the existence of a single indigenous guinea fowl population with high intra-population genetic diversity with respect to climatic zones or phenotypes. This study will help in the selection of parental breeding stock for genetic improvement programs, as well as in the conservation for biodiversity maintenance and sustainable use of the indigenous guinea fowl in the study zones in Benin.

ABSTRACT

Copy number variants (CNVs) that delete or duplicate 30 genes within the 16p11.2 genomic region give rise to a range of neurodevelopmental phenotypes with high penetrance in humans. Despite the identification of this small region, the mechanisms by which 16p11.2 CNVs lead to disease are unclear. Relevant models, such as human cortical organoids (hCOs), are needed to understand the human-specific mechanisms of neurodevelopmental disease. We generated hCOs from 17 patients and controls, profiling 167,958 cells with single-cell RNA-sequencing analysis, which revealed neuronal-specific differential expression of genes outside the 16p11.2 region that are related to cell-cell adhesion, neuronal projection growth, and neurodevelopmental disorders. Furthermore, 16p11.2 deletion syndrome organoids exhibited reduced mRNA and protein levels of RBFOX1, a gene that can also harbor CNVs linked to neurodevelopmental phenotypes. We found that the genes previously shown to be regulated by RBFOX1 are also perturbed in organoids from patients with the 16p11.2 deletion syndrome and thus identified a novel link between independent CNVs associated with neuronal development and autism. Overall, this work suggests convergent signaling, which indicates the possibility of a common therapeutic mechanism across multiple rare neuronal diseases.

BACKGROUND: Frailty assessment by paramedics in the prehospital setting is understudied. The goals of this study were to assess the inter-rater reliability and accuracy of frailty assessment by paramedics using the Clinical Frailty Scale (CFS). METHODS: This was a cross-sectional study with paramedics exposed to 30 clinical vignettes created from real-life situations. There was no teaching intervention prior to the study and paramedics were only provided with the French version of the CFS (definitions and pictograms). The primary outcome was the inter-rater reliability of the assessment. The secondary outcome was the accuracy, compared with the expert-based assessment. Reliability was determined by calculating an intraclass correlation coefficient (ICC). Accuracy was assessed through a mixed effects logistic regression model. A sensitivity analysis was carried out by considering that an assessment was still accurate if the score differed from no more than 1 level. RESULTS: A total of 56 paramedics completed the assessment. The overall assessment was found to have good inter-rater reliability (ICC = 0.87 [95%CI 0.81-0.93]). The overall accuracy was moderate at 60.6% (95%CI 54.9-66.1) when considering the full scale. It was however much higher (94.8% [95%CI 92.0-96.7] when close assessments were considered as accurate. The only factor associated with accurate assessment was field experience. CONCLUSION: The assessment of frailty by paramedics was reliable in this vignette-based study. However, the accuracy deserved to be improved. Future research should focus on the clinical impact of these results and on the association of prehospital frailty assessment with patient outcomes. ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVE: To compare information online regarding lumbar disc herniation (LDH) on commonly searched websites and compare those findings with the evidence-based recommendations listed in the North American Spine Society (NASS) clinical practice guidelines. METHODS: NASS Clinical Practice Guidelines, Internet searches were performed utilizing three common search engines (Google, Bing, Yahoo) and keywords associated with LDH. The top 20 websites from each search were selected. The content regarding diagnosis and treatment of LDH was compared to the NASS clinical practice guidelines. RESULTS: On average, websites mentioned only 59% of recommendations supported by Level I evidence. Websites included an average of 3 recommendations not discussed in the NASS guidelines out of an average of 12 total recommendations. Muscle and sensory testing and physical therapy were the most frequent recommendations, appearing on over 80% of websites. Websites were equally likely to contain recommendations backed by high-quality evidence as recommendations not included in NASS guidelines. CONCLUSIONS: This study demonstrates that websites regarding LDH contain a mix of information, with only a fraction of recommendations aligning with NASS clinical guidelines. Patients who use these websites are presented with unsubstantiated information, conceivably impacting their understanding, expectations and decision-making in physician offices.

ABSTRACT

Metal-organic framework (MOF) glasses have multiple potential applications, as they combine advantages of traditional glasses with those of MOFs. The melt-quenching process used to form MOF glasses typically leads to a significant decrease in porosity, but the structural origin of this thermally induced pore collapse remains largely unknown. Here, we study the melting process of three zeolitic imidazolate frameworks (ZIFs), namely ZIF-4, ZIF-62, and ZIF-76, using ab initio molecular dynamics (MD) simulations. By analyzing the MD data using topological data analysis, we show that while the three ZIF systems exhibit similar short-range order structural changes upon heating, they exhibit significant differences in their medium-range order structure. Specifically, ZIF-76 retains more of its medium-range order structures in the liquid state compared to the other glass-forming ZIF systems, which allows it to remain more porous than ZIF-4 and ZIF-62. As such, our results may aid in understanding the structural features that govern the ability to maintain porosity in the melt-quenched glassy state.

ABSTRACT

Visits to the emergency department are often a difficult time for LGBTQIA+ people, mainly because of the frequent discrimination in healthcare environments and the lack of knowledge of medical and nursing staff. This article begins by presenting some epidemiological features, before discussing specific issues such as contraception and fertility, hormone therapy, sexually transmitted infections, surgical complications, psychiatric pathologies, and traumatology, from the perspective of the emergency physician. Finally, suggestions for further reflection and improvement are proposed.


Les visites aux urgences représentent souvent des moments difficiles pour les personnes LGBTQIA+, principalement en raison des discriminations particulièrement fréquentes dans les milieux de soins et du manque de connaissances du personnel médico-soignant. Cet article présente dans un premier temps quelques chiffres épidémiologiques, avant de discuter des enjeux spécifiques, comme la contraception et la fertilité, l'hormonothérapie, les infections sexuellement transmissibles, les complications opératoires, les pathologies psychiatriques ou la traumatologie, le tout sous le prisme de l'urgentiste. Enfin, des pistes de réflexion et d'amélioration sont proposées.

ABSTRACT

Background: Reproducibility is a central tenant of research. We aimed to synthesize the literature on reproducibility and describe its epidemiological characteristics, including how reproducibility is defined and assessed. We also aimed to determine and compare estimates for reproducibility across different fields. Methods: We conducted a scoping review to identify English language replication studies published between 2018 and 2019 in economics, education, psychology, health sciences, and biomedicine. We searched Medline, Embase, PsycINFO, Cumulative Index of Nursing and Allied Health Literature - CINAHL, Education Source via EBSCOHost, ERIC, EconPapers, International Bibliography of the Social Sciences (IBSS), and EconLit. Documents retrieved were screened in duplicate against our inclusion criteria. We extracted year of publication, number of authors, country of affiliation of the corresponding author, and whether the study was funded. For the individual replication studies, we recorded whether a registered protocol for the replication study was used, whether there was contact between the reproducing team and the original authors, what study design was used, and what the primary outcome was. Finally, we recorded how reproducibilty was defined by the authors, and whether the assessed study(ies) successfully reproduced based on this definition. Extraction was done by a single reviewer and quality controlled by a second reviewer. Results: Our search identified 11,224 unique documents, of which 47 were included in this review. Most studies were related to either psychology (48.6%) or health sciences (23.7%). Among these 47 documents, 36 described a single reproducibility study while the remaining 11 reported at least two reproducibility studies in the same paper. Less than the half of the studies referred to a registered protocol. There was variability in the definitions of reproduciblity success. In total, across the 47 documents 177 studies were reported. Based on the definition used by the author of each study, 95 of 177 (53.7%) studies reproduced. Conclusions: This study gives an overview of research across five disciplines that explicitly set out to reproduce previous research. Such reproducibility studies are extremely scarce, the definition of a successfully reproduced study is ambiguous, and the reproducibility rate is overall modest.
