ABSTRACT

Einstein-Podolsky-Rosen (EPR) steering is commonly shared among multiple observers by utilizing unsharp measurements. Nevertheless, their usage is restricted to local measurements and does not encompass all nonlocal measurement-based cases. In this work, a method for finding beneficial local measurement settings has been expanded to include nonlocal measurement cases. This method is applicable for any bipartite state and offers benefits even in scenarios with a high number of measurement settings. Using the Greenberger-Horne-Zeilinger state as an illustration, we show that employing unsharp nonlocal measurements can activate the phenomenon of steering sharing in contrast to using local measurements. Furthermore, our findings demonstrate that nonlocal measurements with unequal strength possess a greater activation capability compared to those with equal strength. Our activation method generates fresh concepts for conservation and recycling quantum resources.

ABSTRACT

The latest discovery of high temperature superconductivity near 80 K in La3Ni2O7 under high pressure has attracted much attention. Many proposals are put forth to understand the origin of superconductivity. The determination of electronic structures is a prerequisite to establish theories to understand superconductivity in nickelates but is still lacking. Here we report our direct measurement of the electronic structures of La3Ni2O7 by high-resolution angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy. The Fermi surface and band structures of La3Ni2O7 are observed and compared with the band structure calculations. Strong electron correlations are revealed which are orbital- and momentum-dependent. A flat band is formed from the Ni-3d z 2 orbitals around the zone corner which is ~ 50 meV below the Fermi level and exhibits the strongest electron correlation. In many theoretical proposals, this band is expected to play the dominant role in generating superconductivity in La3Ni2O7. Our observations provide key experimental information to understand the electronic structure and origin of high temperature superconductivity in La3Ni2O7.

ABSTRACT

We present a detailed exposition of the design for time- and angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy using a UV probe laser source that combines the nonlinear effects of ß-BaB2O4 and KBe2BO3F2 optical crystals. The photon energy of the probe laser can be switched between 6.0 and 7.2 eV, with the flexibility to operate each photon energy setting under two distinct resolution configurations. Under the fully optimized energy resolution configuration, we achieve an energy resolution of 8.5 meV at 6.0 eV and 10 meV at 7.2 eV. Alternatively, switching to the other configuration enhances the temporal resolution, yielding a temporal resolution of 72 fs for 6.0 eV and 185 fs for 7.2 eV. We validated the performance and reliability of our system by applying it to measuring two typical materials: the topological insulator MnBi2Te4 and the excitonic insulator candidate Ta2NiSe5.

ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVE: To investigate the long-term changes in nutritional status in children with solid tumors during treatment and the relationship between nutritional status and clinical outcomes. METHODS: This study was a retrospective medical records review of data from children who were diagnosed with solid tumors and followed up for more than 3 months from January 2016 to December 2021 in China. Patient demographics and clinical information, including nutritional status, parenteral nutrition use, intensive care unit (ICU) transfers, infection during hospitalization, hospitalization frequency, length of stay, hospitalization costs and antibiotic costs, were collected to analyze the nutritional status of children with different types of solid tumors, the dynamic changes in nutritional status during treatment, and the relationship between nutritional status and clinical outcomes. RESULTS: Among the 764 patients (383 males (50.1%); 381 females (49.9%); mean age: 2.58 years), 41.6% of the solid tumors were neuroblastomas, 17.1% were hepatoblastomas, and Wilms tumors as the third most common solid tumors (8.9%). The median follow-up duration was 6 months (range: 3-40 months). At diagnosis, the proportion of children who were undernourished (underweight and wasting) versus overweight or obese were 26.71% versus 5.21% (25.86% vs. 2.89% in the third month; 29.77% vs. 2.28% in the sixth month; 24.77% vs. 3.27% in the 12th month). The body mass index Z scores decreased from the initial values after the first month (-0.56 (-1.47, 0.23) vs. -0.44 (-1.29, 0.41)) but improved later and decreased again at 6 months. The children in the undernutrition group had longer hospital stays (p < 0.001), higher hospitalization costs (p < 0.001), higher antibiotic costs (p < 0.001), a higher risk of neutropenia (OR = 4.781 (95% CI: 1.571-14.553), p = 0.006), and a higher risk of ICU transfers (OR = 1.498 (95% CI: 1.010-2.224), p = 0.044). No significant differences in those associations by malnutrition and infection, ICU duration, or length of parenteral nutrition were observed. CONCLUSION: There is a considerable prevalence of malnutrition in children with solid tumors. Malnutrition is related to adverse clinical outcomes and increases in total hospital expenses and antibiotic costs.

ABSTRACT

Abstract Background The development of rosacea is suggested to be closely associated with lipid metabolism, inflammation, and anxiety/depression. Gamma linolenic acid (GLA) is a key factor participating in lipid metabolism, which is also confirmed to regulate the inflammatory response. However, the associations of serum GLA levels with rosacea severity and psychological status still remain unclear. Objective and limitations of the study The present study aimed to investigate the associations of gamma linolenic acid (GLA), a key factor participating in lipid metabolism and the inflammatory response, with rosacea severity and psychological status. The present study still had some limitations. First, this study is a cross-sectional study and does not provide longitudinal evidence about the relationship between GLA and rosacea; Second, the cohort in this study is also relatively small, and a larger cohort is needed in further investigation to reveal the potential role of lipid metabolism in the pathogenesis of rosacea. Methods A total of 62 rosacea patients were consecutively recruited. Patient's Self-Assessment (PSA) scale and Clinician Erythema Assessment (CEA) as well as 7-item Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD-7) and 9-item Patient Health Questionnaire (PHQ-9) were conducted to evaluate the degree of erythema severity and anxiety/depression, respectively. Serum GLA levels were determined by gas chromatography mass. Results Lower levels of serum GLA in rosacea patients were observed (p < 0.001), and subgroup analysis revealed that patients with higher-level GLA had lower scores of PSA, CEA, GAD-7 and PHQ-9. Moreover, Spearman correlation analysis uncovered that serum GLA levels were negatively associated with PSA, CEA, GAD-7 as well and PHQ-9 scores, respectively. Linear regression model found that serum GLA levels at baseline were a predictive factor for prognosis of clinical outcomes after 1-month conventional treatment. Conclusion The present study indicates that lower levels of serum GLA in rosacea patients are negatively associated with the degree of erythema and anxiety/depression status.

ABSTRACT

【Objective】 To evaluate the effect of one-beat acquisition with wide detector CT on the image quality and diagnostic efficiency of coronary CT angiography (CCTA) in patients with atrial fibrillation. 【Methods】 A total of 52 consecutive patients with atrial fibrillation, including 31 males, (67.32±11.45) years old, who underwent CCTA from July 2022 to February 2023, were analyzed retrospectively. All patients underwent one-beat acquisition CCTA. The subjective and objective image quality of the coronary arteries was evaluated, and using invasive coronary catheter angiography as the gold standard, the diagnostic efficacy of stenosis degrees above moderate and severe degrees was calculated, respectively. 【Results】 Subjective evaluation results: 92.31% (384/416) of the vascular segments were rated as excellent or good, and the diagnosable rate reached 98.08% (408/416, subjective score ≥3 points). Objective evaluation results: The CT value of the right coronary artery, anterior descending branch, and circumflex branch was (433.41±95.17)HU, (422.69±92.81)HU and (420.27±95.43)HU, respectively; the contrast-to-noise ratio was 38.46±7.54, 32.46±13.78 and 37.74±8.89, respectively. The total diagnostic accuracy, sensitivity, and specificity was 94.71%, 87.9% and 96.62%, respectively, for moderate stenosis and 96.15%, 83.64% and 98.06% for severe stenosis. 【Conclusion】 One-beat acquisition with wide detector CT can obtain high-quality coronary artery images and high diagnostic accuracy for patients with atrial fibrillation without radiation dose increase to patients. It has good clinical application value for patients with atrial fibrillation.

ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVE@#To investigate the recovery characteristics of T cell subsets in patients with severe aplastic anemia (SAA) who received haploid hematopoietic stem cell transplantation(HSCT) and its relationship with acute graft-versus-host disease(aGVHD).@*METHODS@#The clinical data of 29 SAA patients who received haploid hematopoietic stem cell transplantation in the department of hematology, Shanxi Bethune Hospital from June 2018 to January 2022 were retrospectively analyzed. The absolute counts of CD3+T, CD4+T, CD8+T lymphocytes and the ratio of CD4+T/CD8+T lymphocytes in all patients before transplantation, 14, 21, 30, 60, 90 and 120 days after transplantation were analyzed. The proportion of T lymphocytes was compared in the non-aGVHD group, the grade Ⅰ-Ⅱ aGVHD group and the grade III-IV aGVHD group.@*RESULTS@#The counts of all T cells in 27 patients were far below the normal level at 14 and 21 days after transplantation, but there was obvious heterogeneity. There was a certain relationship between T cell immune reconstitution and conditioning regimen, age, and immunosuppressive treatment before transplantation. CD3+T cells showed a steady upward trend at 30, 60, 90, and 120 days after transplantation, and returned to the normal levels at 120 days after transplantation; faster recovery of CD4+T cells was closely related to aGVHD, which was at 30, 60, 90, 120 days after transplantation showed a slow upward trend, and which was still far below the normal level of 120 days after transplantation. CD8+T cell counts began to recover at 14 and 21 days after transplantation, and the recovery was earlier than the CD4+T cells, and its recovery speed was rapid 30 and 60 days after transptantation, which showed an upward trend and exceeded the normal levels 90 days after transplantation. Since CD8+ T cells reconstituted quickly, while the CD4+ T cells reconstitution was slowly, which made the long-term CD4+T/CD8+T cell ratio after transplantation was inverted . Compared with the non-aGVHD group, the absolute counts of CD3+T, CD4+T, and CD8+T cells in the aGVHD group were significantly higher than those in the non-aGVHD group at each time period after transplantation. In the aGVHD group, grade Ⅲ-Ⅳ aGVHD occurred more frequently in the early post-transplantation period (within 14-21 days), the grade Ⅰ-Ⅱ aGVHD group mostly occurred within 30-90 days after transplantation, and CD3+T, CD4+T, CD8+T cell counts in the grade Ⅲ-Ⅳ aGVHD group were significantly higher than those in the grade Ⅰ-Ⅱ aGVHD group; and the greater the proportion of CD4+T, the more severe the degree of aGVHD.@*CONCLUSION@#The speed of T cell immune reconstitution after SAA haploid transplantation is different, which is related to the conditioning regimen, age, and immunosuppressive therapy before transplantation. The rapid recovery of CD4+ T cells is closely related to the occurrence of aGVHD.

ABSTRACT

【Objective】 To compare the enhancement effects of lean body weight (LBW) and total body weight (TBW) as indexes to calculate the contrast agent dosage under the condition of energy spectrum CT scanning. 【Methods】 A total of 218 patients who received liver enhancement CT from November 2018 to January 2019 were enrolled in this study. There were 101 patients in LBW group and 117 patients in TBW group. Both groups were scanned by energy spectrum CT, and the parameters of scanning and reconstruction were identical. The contrast agent dose was 500 mgI/kg (LBW) in LBW group and 450 mgI/kg (TBW) in TBW group, and the injection rate was 2.8 mL/s. Images were transferred to a GE AW4.7 workstation and the 50 keV monochromatic images were analyzed. We compared the dosage of contrast medium, CT value of aorta in arterial phase (HU-aorta), hepatic enhancement CT value in venous phase (-liver), the rate of reaching the enhancement standard and variability in the two groups. 【Results】 Compared with TBW group, LBW group had lower contrast agent dosage, HU-aorta and ∆-liver (P0.05). The variation rate of HU-aorta and ∆-liver in LBW group was lower than that in TBW group. Using LBW as an index to calculate the dosage of liver enhanced CT also made the enhancement of liver parenchyma more consistent in different patients. 【Conclusion】 Even on the premise of energy spectrum CT scanning, using LBW-based contrast injection in liver enhanced CT can not only reduce contrast dose, but also make the enhancement in liver parenchyma more consistent among different patients.

ABSTRACT

【Objective】 To investigate the effects of 80 kVp combined with multi-model adaptive statistical iterative reconstruction algorithm (ASiR-V) on the image quality of CT angiography (CTA) of iliac artery in kidney transplantation candidates before operation. 【Methods】 Totally 50 kidney transplantation candidates underwent “one-stop” scanning combined CTA for coronary and iliac arteries were recruited consecutively. After the scanning, images were reconstructed with different ASiR-V levels on the iliac artery from 50% to 100% at a 10% interval, and 6 groups of images were obtained. We evaluated and compared all image qualities, DLP and CTDI in the patients’ examination were recorded, and the effective dose (ED) was calculated. 【Results】 All of the image quality objective scores of different ASiR-V levels on the iliac artery were above 3 points (3.32±0.24), and the average CT value was (344.30±74.53)HU. The ED received by the patient throughout the examination was (2.71±0.42)mSv. The image noise decreased while SNR and CNR increased monotonically as the ASiR-V levels increased, among which 80% ASiR-V image quality score was the highest with 3.41±0.26. 【Conclusion】 For patients who need to have both coronary and iliac arteries evaluated before kidney transplantation operation, low tube voltage (80 kVp) combined with 80% ASiR-V can obtain high-quality iliac artery images under the premise of reducing the ED dose, which can provide practical basis for further reducing the dose in personalized scanning scheme for such patients. It has good feasibility and clinical application value.

ABSTRACT

Objective To compare the values of the lung nodule image quality by using two adaptive statistical iterative reconstruction (ASIR)in a chest phantom CT imaging study. Methods Non-enhanced CT of chest phantom with routine dose was obtained on both GE Discovery CT and Revolution CT.The scan parameters included tube voltage of 120 kVp,a noise index of 14 HU,slice thickness of 5 mm.All scans were reconstructed with FBP and different percentages of (20%-100% ASIR)when using Discovery CT,and different percentages of ASIR-V (20%-100% ASIR-V)when using Revolution CT.The CT attenuation values and SD (the SD represented image noise)of the subcutaneous uniform tissue were measured at the level of thoracic entry, trachea carina and hepatic portal.Based on the standard FBP(FBPs )algorithm, the image noise reduction rate of reconstructed images using different iterative percentage of standard algorithms ASIR and ASIR-V(ASIRs and ASIR-Vs )were compared. The paired t test was used to compare the noise of ASIRs and ASIR-Vs images under the same iterative percentage. The subj ective image quality was independently evaluated by two experienced radiologists,Kappa test was used to evaluate consistency,Wilcoxon test was used to compare subjective scores. Results For all ASIRs and ASIR-Vs images, the objective image noise of subcutaneous uniform tissue decreased along with increasing percentage.Comparison with the average noises of CT image reconstructed with the FBPs algorithm, the image noise reconstructed with ASIRs from 20% to 1 00% were reduced by 1 1.0 6%-48.9 7%,while the image noise reconstructed with ASIR-Vs from 20% to 100% were reduced by 17.06%-79.50%.The image noise of different percentage ASIR-Vs was significantly lower than that of same percentage ASIRs between 40% and 1 00% (P<0.05 ).In terms of subj ective image evaluation, all ASIR1 and ASIR-V1 reconstructions had good diagnostic acceptability. Two readers scored good or moderate consistency in each iterative reconstruction of each lung nodule.Nodules of smaller size and less dense were more likely to have score differences. The 60%ASIR1 showed significantly superior visibility of lung nodules when compared to other percentages (P<0.05).60% and 80% ASIR-V1 series showed significantly superior visibility of lung nodules when compared to the 60% ASIR1 and ASIR-V1 of other percentages (P<0.05).Conclusion In routine dose non-enhanced chest CT, ASIR-V shows greater potential in reducing image noise and improves lung nodule image quality when compared to the same level ASIR algorithm. Combining both the obj ective and subj ective evaluation of images, reconstructed with 60% and 80% ASIR-V in the non-enhanced chest CT image is recommended for the observation and evaluation of pulmonary nodules.

ABSTRACT

Hypoxic exposure activates hypoxia inducible factors (HIFs) to up-regulate the expression of its target genes. These genes encode glucose metabolism related proteins, such as glucose transporters (GLUTs) and glycolysis related enzymes, including lactate dehydrogenase A (LDHA) and aldolase A (ALDA). Therefore, HIFs participate in oxygenolysis of glucose and play an important role in mediating hypoxia response and weight loss. Exercise training influences fatty acid metabolism, insulin sensitivity and body energy balance through activating peroxisome proliferator-activated receptors (PPARs), which plays an active role in losing weight. In addition, hypoxic exposure or exercise training can activate energy sensor 5'-AMP activated protein kinase (AMPK) in cells and promote oxidation of glucose and fatty acid and weight loss. It has been shown that hypoxic training exerts a better effects on controlling weight, compared with either hypoxic exposure or exercise training alone. This paper reviewed synergistic interactions among HIFs, PPARs and AMPK under hypoxic training and proposed possible mechanisms of hypoxic training-induced weight loss via AMPK-HIFs axis or AMPK-PPARs axis, thus providing theoretical guidance for application of hypoxic training in weight control.

ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVETo observe the effects of electroacupuncture (EA) of different intensities on lactate dehydrogernase (LDH), succinate dehydrogenase (SDH) and ATPase in brain tissue of rats with cerebral ischemia-reperfusion injury (CI/R).

METHODSForty male SD rats were uniformly randomized into sham operation group (group A), CI/R group (group B), CI/R+5 mA EA (group C), CI/R+3 mA EA (group D) and CI/R+1 mA EA (group E) groups with eight rats in each group. Transient general brain ischemia was induced by four-vessel occlusion and reperfusion. The rats in group C, group D and group E were punctured and stimulated at Baihui (GV20), Mingmen (GV4) and Zusanli (ST36) with the same intermittent and rarefaction-dense wave (30 to 50 Hz) and different electric current intensities: 5 mA, 3 mA and 1 mA for 20 min after CI/R. Then the activities of Na(+)-K(+)-ATPase, SDH and LDH in mitochondria of brain tissue were measured by spectrophotometry. The ischemic cerebral cortex tissue was taken for observing the ultrastructure changes of impaired nerve cells.

RESULTSCompared with group A, the activities of LDH, SDH and Na(+)-K(+)-ATPase were lowerer in the group B (P<0.05 or P<0.01). However, the activities of LDH, SDH and Na(+)-K(+)-ATPase were higher in the group D than those in the group B (P<0.05 orP<0.01). In group A, the anatomical structure of the cerebral cortex cells was basically normal; in group B, the neuronal cellular structures were severely damaged, the neuronal mitochondria got swelling, the mitochondrial cristae were broken, the medullated nerve fifibers were not integrated. In group C, group D and group E, the ultrastructure of impaired neuron were improved. Group D was the best among three groups above.

CONCLUSIONEA of 3 mA intensity could strengthen aerobic metabolism by elevating the activities of SDH and LDH, meanwhile maintaining the ionic equilibrium in the exterior and interior brain cell and relieving the cellular edema by reinforcing the activities of Na(+)-K(+)-ATPase.

ABSTRACT

PurposeTo explore the feasibility of personalized energy spectrum scanning in upper abdomen CT by comparing the image quality and radiation dose of optimizing choice spectrum scanning protocol with conventional 120 kVp scan.Material and Methods Sixty patients undergoing abdominal CT scan with and without contrast enhancement were prospectively collected and randomly assigned into two groups. Group A (30 patients) underwent conventional 120 kVp scan and spectral enhancement scanning; group B (30 patients) underwent spectrum scan and 120 kVp enhancement scanning. Spectral scanning protocol was based on individual choice with conventional 120 kVp NI10-5 mm average mAs scan for every patient. The CT dose index of volume (CTDIvol) and effective dose (ED) during non-contrast phase and portal venous phase were recorded. The CT value, standard deviation (SD), signal noise ratio (SNR) and contrast noise ratio (CNR) were measured in the liver parenchyma, spleen parenchyma and portal venous trunk. Results The CTDIvol and ED of spectrum scanning were less than 120 kVp scan but there was no statistical difference (P>0.05). The SD of group B GSI imaging was less than group A 120 kVp (P<0.05), while the SNR was greater than group A. The SD of group A GSI portal venous phase in the liver, spleen and portal vein was less than group B 120 kVp (P<0.05).ConclusionThe optimized energy spectrum scanning protocol can reduce radiation dose with quality of single energy image from the energy spectrum equal to or better than the conventional 120 kVp scanning protocol. Personalized energy spectrum scan protocol provides multi-parameter diagnosis and multi-application platform and can be used routinely in the upper abdomen scan.
