RESUMEN
We have investigated the illumination effect on the magnetotransport properties of a two-dimensional electron system at the LaAlO3/SrTiO3interface. The illumination significantly reduces the zero-field sheet resistance, eliminates the Kondo effect at low-temperature, and switches the negative magnetoresistance into the positive one. A large increase in the density of high-mobility carriers after illumination leads to quantum oscillations in the magnetoresistance originating from the Landau quantization. The carrier density (â¼2 × 1012 cm-2) and effective mass (â¼1.7me) estimated from the oscillations suggest that the high-mobility electrons occupy thedxz/yzsubbands of Ti:t2gorbital extending deep within the conducting sheet of SrTiO3. Our results demonstrate that the illumination which induces additional carriers at the interface can pave the way to control the Kondo-like scattering and study the quantum transport in the complex oxide heterostructures.

We report on the stability of the quantum Hall plateau in wide Hall bars made from a chemically gated graphene film grown on SiC. The ν=2 quantized plateau appears from fields B≃5 T and persists up to B≃80 T. At high current density, in the breakdown regime, the longitudinal resistance oscillates with a 1/B periodicity and an anomalous phase, which we relate to the presence of additional electron reservoirs. The high field experimental data suggest that these reservoirs induce a continuous increase of the carrier density up to the highest available magnetic field, thus enlarging the quantum plateaus. These in-plane inhomogeneities, in the form of high carrier density graphene pockets, modulate the quantum Hall effect breakdown and decrease the breakdown current.

Magnetotransport of individual rolled-up Fe(3)Si nanomembranes is investigated in a broad temperature range from 4.2 K up to 300 K in pulsed magnetic fields up to 55 T. The observed magnetoresistance (MR) has the following pronounced features: (i) MR is negative in the investigated intervals of temperature and magnetic field; (ii) its magnitude increases linearly with the magnetic field in a low-field region and reveals a gradual trend to saturation when the magnetic field increases; (iii) the MR effect becomes more pronounced with increasing temperature. These dependences of MR on the magnetic field and temperature are in line with predictions of the spin-disorder model of the spin-flip s-d interaction assisted with creation or annihilation of magnons, which is expected above a certain critical temperature. Comparison of the MR features in rolled-up and planar samples reveals a substantial increase of the critical temperature in the rolled-up tube, which is attributed to a new geometry and internal strain arising in the rolled-up nanomembranes, influencing the electronic and magnetic properties of the material.
RESUMEN
By using high-magnetic fields (up to 60 T), we observe compelling evidence of the integer quantum Hall effect in trilayer graphene. The magnetotransport fingerprints are similar to those of the graphene monolayer, except for the absence of a plateau at a filling factor of ν=2. At a very low filling factor, the Hall resistance vanishes due to the presence of mixed electron and hole carriers induced by disorder. The measured Hall resistivity plateaus are well reproduced theoretically, using a self-consistent Hartree calculations of the Landau levels and assuming an ABC stacking order of the three layers.

Measurements of basal plane longitudinal rho(b)(B) and Hall rho(H)(B) resistivities were performed on highly oriented pyrolytic graphite samples in a pulsed magnetic field up to B=50 T applied perpendicular to graphene planes, and temperatures 1.5 K

Merged, or giant, multiquanta vortices (GVs) are known to appear in very small superconductors near the superconducting transition due to strong confinement of magnetic flux. Here we present evidence for a new, pinning-related, mechanism for vortex merger. Using Bitter decoration to visualize vortices in small Nb disks with varying degrees of disorder, we show that confinement in combination with strong disorder causes individual vortices to merge into clusters or even GVs well below Tc and Hc2, in contrast to well-defined shells of individual vortices found in the absence of pinning.
RESUMEN
We report on magnetoconductance experiments in ballistic multiwalled carbon nanotubes threaded by magnetic fields as large as 55 T. In the high temperature regime (100 K), giant modulations of the conductance, mediated by the Fermi level location, are unveiled. The experimental data are consistently analyzed in terms of the field-dependent density of states of the external shell that modulates the injection properties at the electrode-nanotube interface, and the resulting linear conductance. This is the first unambiguous experimental evidence of Aharonov-Bohm effect in clean multiwalled carbon nanotubes.

We have studied vortex configurations in mesoscopic superconducting disks using the Bitter decoration technique. For a broad range of vorticities L the circular geometry is found to lead to the formation of concentric shells of vortices. From images obtained on disks of different sizes in a range of magnetic fields we traced the evolution of vortex states and identified stable and metastable configurations of interacting vortices. Furthermore, the analysis of shell filling with increasing L allowed us to identify magic numbers corresponding to the appearance of consecutive new shells.
RESUMEN
By combining very low temperature scanning tunneling microscopy and spectroscopy on a TiN film we have observed a nonuniform state comprising of superconducting (S) and normal (N) areas. The local density of states displays a spatial dependence between S and N different from the usual proximity effect. We conclude that mesoscopic fluctuations might play a major role in accordance with recent theories describing superconductor-normal-metal quantum transition.
