RESUMEN

Docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) is an essential component for brain development during fetal and early postnatal life. Hyperbilirubinemia is characterized by abnormally high levels of bilirubin in the bloodstream, frequently leading to jaundice in newborns. In severe instances, this condition can progress to neurological damage or kernicterus, a form of brain damage. Initial cell-based experiments conducted by our research team revealed that DHA significantly enhances the survival rate of nerve cells treated with bilirubin and diminishes the oxidative stress indicated by reduced peroxide activity caused by unconjugated bilirubin (UCB). Further investigations through animal studies demonstrated that DHA effectively mitigates bilirubin-induced brain injury in neonatal rats. However, the potential of DHA to decrease the incidence of bilirubin-induced brain damage in clinical settings has not been previously explored or reported. Infants with neonatal hyperbilirubinemia (n = 30 per group) participated in a double-blind, randomized, placebo-controlled parallel study. They received either 100 mg/d DHA or placebo syrup immediately when they were diagnosed. The study found that the bilirubin level at 48 hours of treatment, serum neuron-specific enolase (NSE) levels, mean phototherapy duration, and abnormal rate of cranial magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) were lower in the DHA group than those in the control group (P < .05). These results suggested that DHA is effective as an adjuvant treatment for hyperbilirubinemia in children. It can reduce the incidence of neonatal hyperbilirubinemia brain injury and plays a certain protective role. Clinical study on protective effect of DHA on neonatal bilirubin injury is registered at Chinese Clinical Trial Registry as ChiCTR2300070250.

RESUMEN

Various separation methods in combination with spectral data analysis, X-ray single crystal diffraction analysis, and litera-ture data comparison were employed to clarify the chemical constituents of Itea yunnanensis. Seven compounds were obtained from I. yunnanensis, which were identified as(S)-3-[1-(4-hydroxyphenyl)propane-2-yl]-4-methoxybenzoate methyl ester(1), iteafuranal B(2), syringaresinol(3), dihydrokaempferol(4), trimethoxybenzene(5), eicosane(6), and nonacosane(7), respectively. Among them, compound 1 was a new nor-neolignan compound named iteanorneoligan A, and the rest of the compounds were identified from I. yunnanensis for the first time. The anti-hepatocellular carcinoma effect of the compound was evaluated based on Sk-hep-1 cells model via MTT assay, and compound 2 showed a significant inhibitory effect on the proliferation of Sk-hep-1 cells with an IC_(50) of 9.4 µmol·L~(-1). The antioxidant capacity was determined via DPPH, ABTS~(·+), and O■ radical scavenging ability, and compound 1 exhibited a significant ABTS~(·+) radical scavenging effect with an IC_(50) of 0.178 mg·mL~(-1).

RESUMEN

Tumor immune escape is an important manner for colon cancer to escape effective killing by immune system. Currently, the immune checkpoint PD-1/PD-L1-targeted immunotherapy has emerged as a promising therapeutic strategy in colon cancer. Here, present work aims to investigate the biological function of N6-methyladenosine (m6A) reader insulin-like growth factor 2 mRNA binding protein 1 (IGF2BP1) in regulating colon cancer's immune escape and CD8 + T cells-mediated tumor cytotoxicity and apoptosis. Results illustrated that IGF2BP1 was closely correlated to the colon cancer patients' poor clinical outcome. Functionally, upregulation of IGF2BP1 suppressed the CD8+ T-cells mediated antitumor immunity through reducing their tumor cytotoxicity. Mechanistically, MeRIP-Seq revealed that programmed death ligand 1 (PD-L1) mRNA had a remarkable m6A modified site on 3'-UTR genomic. Moreover, PD-L1 acted as the target of IGF2BP1, which enhanced the stability of PD-L1 mRNA. Overall, these results indicated that IGF2BP1 targeted PD-L1 to accelerate the immune escape in colon cancer by reducing CD8 + T cells-mediated tumor cytotoxicity in m6A-dependent manner. The findings demonstrate the potential of m6A-targeted immune checkpoint blockade in colon cancer, providing a novel insight for colon cancer immune escape and antitumor immunity in further precise treatment.

RESUMEN

BACKGROUND:Although nerve conduits provide an effective treatment approach for nerve repair, traditional nerve conduits merely serve as mechanical channels in the repair process. The therapeutic effect still needs to be improved.Carbon nanomaterials have good physicochemical properties and hold great potential in fields such as electrochemistry and tissue engineering.Nerve conduits loaded with carbon nanomaterials, after appropriate functional modifications, are expected to further enhance the quality of nerve repair. OBJECTIVE:To review the recent research progress of carbon nanomaterial-loaded nerve conduits/scaffolds for peripheral nerve repair. METHODS:PubMed,Web of Science,China National Knowledge Infrastructure(CNKI),and Wanfang databases were searched for the literature on the application of carbon nanomaterial catheters in peripheral nerve regeneration.English keywords were"carbon nanomaterials,carbon-based nanomaterials, nerve conduit, nerve guidance conduit, scaffold, nerve regeneration, peripheral nerve repair, peripheral nerve injury"and Chinese keywords were"carbon nanomaterials, carbon materials, graphene, carbon nanotubes, nerve conduits, nerve scaffolds, nerve repair, nerve regeneration, peripheral nerve injury".Finally,69 articles were selected for this review. RESULTS AND CONCLUSION:(1)Carbon nanomaterials primarily restore damaged neural bioelectric signal conduction by activating calcium ion channels and inducing intracellular calcium activity. The application of various nerve conduit design strategies has improved the effectiveness of nerve repair.(2)Successful intraneural vascularization is the prerequisite for repairing peripheral nerve injuries.Reactive oxygen species and reactive nitrogen species generated by carbon nanomaterials trigger subsequent signaling pathways that promote intraneural vascularization.(3)The ratio of M1 to M2 macrophages affects the repair of peripheral nerve injuries.Carbon nanomaterials promote the polarization of macrophages into the M2 phenotype, thereby exerting their anti-inflammatory and regenerative effects.(4)Some carbon nanomaterials may induce excessive generation of reactive oxygen species intracellularly, potentially exhibiting cytotoxicity detrimental to nerve repair. However, appropriate functional modifications can improve the adverse effects caused by carbon nanomaterials.(5)Although carbon nanomaterials can restore the microenvironment of peripheral nerve injuries and play a positive role in promoting peripheral nerve regeneration, their inherent cytotoxicity and unclear in vivo degradation pathways still pose challenges for clinical application. However,by employing methods such as functional modification,it is possible to enhance the biocompatibility of carbon nanomaterials.Modified carbon nanomaterials have promising prospects in the field of neural tissue engineering.

RESUMEN

The Neural Calcium Sensor1 (NCS1) is a crucial protein that binds to Ca2+ and is believed to play a role in regulating tumor invasion and cell proliferation. However, the role of NCS1 in immune infiltration and cancer prognosis is still unknown. Our study aimed to explore the expression profile, immune infiltration pattern, prognostic value, biological function, and potential compounds targeting NCS1 using public databases. High expression of NCS1 was detected by immune histochemical staining in LIHC (Liver hepatocellular carcinoma), BRCA (Breast invasive carcinoma), KIRC (Kidney renal clear cell carcinoma), and SKCM (Skin Cutaneous Melanoma). The expression of NCS1 in cancer was determined by TCGA (The Cancer Genome Atlas Program), GTEx (The Genotype-Tissue Expression), the Kaplan-Meier plotter, GEO (Gene Expression Omnibus), GEPIA2.0 (Gene Expression Profiling Interactive Analysis 2.0), HPA (The Human Protein Atlas), UALCAN, TIMER2.0, TISIDB, Metascape, Drugbank, chEMBL, and ICSDB databases. NCS1 has genomic mutations as well as aberrant DNA methylation in multiple cancers compared to normal tissues. Also, NCS1 was significantly different in the immune microenvironment, tumor mutational burden (TMB), microsatellite instability (MSI), and immune infiltrate-associated cells in different cancers, which could be used for the typing of immune and molecular subtypes of cancer and the presence of immune checkpoint resistance in several cancers. Univariate regression analysis, multivariate regression analysis, and gene enrichment analysis to construct prognostic models revealed that NCS1 is involved in immune regulation and can be used as a prognostic biomarker for SKCM, LIHC, BRCA, COAD, and KIRC. These results provide clues from a bioinformatic perspective and highlight the importance of NCS1 in a variety of cancers.

RESUMEN

BACKGROUND: Atelectasis affects approximately 90% of anaesthetized patients, with laparoscopic surgery and pneumoperitoneum reported to exacerbate this condition. High-frequency oscillation therapy applies continuous positive pressure pulses to oscillate the airway, creating a pressure difference in small airways obstructed by secretions. This process helps reduce peak airway pressure, open small airways, and decrease atelectasis incidence, while also facilitating respiratory tract clearance. This study examines the efficacy of high-frequency oscillation on reduction of atelectasis in laparoscopic cholecystectomy (LC) patients under general anaesthesia, evaluated using lung ultrasound. METHODS: Sixty-four patients undergoing laparoscopic cholecystectomy were randomly divided into a control group and a high-frequency oscillation (HFO) group. Both groups underwent total intravenous anaesthesia under invasive arterial monitoring. The HFO group received a 10-minute continuous high-frequency oscillation therapy during surgery, while the control group received no intervention. Lung ultrasound evaluations were performed three times: five minutes post-intubation (T1), at the end of the surgery (T2), and before leaving the Post-Anaesthesia Care Unit (PACU; T3). Blood gas analysis was performed twice: prior to induction with no oxygen supply and before PACU discharge (oxygen supply off). RESULTS: The HFO group displayed a significantly lower incidence of atelectasis at T3 (57.5% vs. 90.3%, OR 6.88, 95%CI (1.74 to 27.24)) compared to the control group. Moreover, the HFO group's PaO2 levels remained consistent with baseline levels before PACU discharge, unlike the control group. Although there was no significant difference in LUS scores between the groups at T1 (8.56 ± 0.15 vs. 8.19 ± 0.18, p = 0.1090), the HFO group had considerably lower scores at T2 (13.41 ± 0.17 vs.7.59 ± 0.17, p < 0.01) and T3 (13.72 ± 0.14 vs.7.25 ± 0.21, p < 0.01). CONCLUSION: Our study indicates that high-frequency oscillation effectively reduces atelectasis in patients undergoing laparoscopic cholecystectomy. Additionally, it can mitigate the decline in oxygen partial pressure associated with atelectasis.

RESUMEN

Herein, we report the transformation of aromatic acids to indole-fused seven- and eight-membered azaheterocycles. Two C-C bonds are formed via the cleavage of one C-C bond and two C-H bonds. The incorporation of indole moieties into bioactive pharmaceuticals and natural products to construct a medium-sized polyfused heterocycle demonstrates the synthetic utility of the protocol.

RESUMEN

The present study examines whether there is a mechanism beyond the current concept of post-translational modifications to regulate the function of a protein. A small gas molecule, hydrogen sulfide (H2S), was found to bind at active-site copper of Cu/Zn-SOD using a series of methods including radiolabeled binding assay, X-ray absorption near-edge structure (XANES), and crystallography. Such an H2S binding enhanced the electrostatic forces to guide the negatively charged substrate superoxide radicals to the catalytic copper ion, changed the geometry and energy of the frontier molecular orbitals of the active site, and subsequently facilitated the transfer of an electron from the superoxide radical to the catalytic copper ion and the breakage of the copper-His61 bridge. The physiological relevance of such an H2S effect was also examined in both in vitro and in vivo models where the cardioprotective effects of H2S were dependent on Cu/Zn-SOD.

RESUMEN

Three-component selenofunctionalization processes of olefins, diselenides and sulfonamides, water, alcohols, or acids utilizing 1-fluoropyridinium triflate (FP-OTf) as a reaction promoter are reported. Under the optimal conditions, a broad range of vicinally functionalized selenide derivatives was accessible with high yields and excellent functional group compatibilities. Mechanistic studies revealed that the FP-OTf played a key role in this selenofunctionalization process.

RESUMEN

One new 2-arylbenzo[b]furan named iteafuranal F (1) as well as two known analogues (2-3) were isolated from the 95% EtOH extract of aerial parts of Itea omeiensis. Their chemical structures were constructed based on extensive analyses of UV, IR, 1D/2D NMR and HRMS spectra. Antioxidant assays revealed significant superoxide anion radical scavenging capacity of 1 with IC50 value of 0.66 mg/mL, which was comparable to the efficiency of positive control of luteolin. In addition, the preliminary MS fragmentation patterns in negative ion mode were established to distinguish 2-arylbenzo[b]furans with C-10 in different oxidation states: the characteristic loss of CO molecule [M-H-28]- was observed for 3-formyl-2-arylbenzo[b]furans, and the loss of CH2O fragment [M-H-30]- for 3-hydroxymethyl-2-arylbenzo[b]furans, and the loss of CO2 fragment [M-H-44]- for 2-arylbenzo[b]furan-3-carboxylic acids.

RESUMEN

Qishen Gubiao granules, a traditional Chinese medicine preparation composed of nine herbs, have been widely used to prevent and treat coronavirus disease 2019 with good clinical efficacy. In the present study, an integrated strategy based on chemical profiling followed by network pharmacology and molecular docking was employed, to explore the active components and potential molecular mechanisms of Qishen Gubiao granules in the therapy of coronavirus disease 2019. Using the ultra-high performance liquid chromatography coupled with quadrupole time-of-flight mass spectrometry technique, a total of 186 ingredients corresponding to eight structure types in Qishen Gubiao preparation were identified or structurally annotated with the elucidation of the fragmentation pathways in the typical compounds. The network pharmacology analysis screened 28 key compounds including quercetin, apigenin, scutellarein, luteolin and naringenin acting on 31 key targets, which possibly modulated signal pathways associated with immune and inflammatory responses in the treatment of coronavirus disease 2019. The molecular docking results observed that the top 5 core compounds had a high affinity for angiotensin-converting enzyme 2 and 3-chymotrypsin-like protease. This study proposed a reliable and feasible approach for elucidating the multi-components, multi-targets, and multi-pathways intervention mechanism of Qishen Gubiao granules against coronavirus disease 2019, providing a scientific basis for its further quality evaluation and clinical application.

RESUMEN

A dual catalytic approach combining photocatalyst and selenium-π-acid synergy has been used to cyclized of N-propargylamides. This method offers readily access to oxazole aldehydes under chemical oxidant-free conditions with low catalyst loadings, where air acts as a terminal and gratuitous oxidant. The reaction is demonstrated with a range of substrates, including aryl and alkyl propargyl amides, and in the late-stage functionalization of several amide-containing drug molecules. Mechanistic studies suggest that the acridinium catalyst is able to oxidize diselenide and generate singlet oxygen (1 O2 ), which is responsible for this transformation.

RESUMEN

Supercapacitors are essential for electrochemical energy storage because of their high-power density, good cycle stability, fast charging and discharging rates, and low maintenance cost. Macrocycles, including cucurbiturils, calixarene, and cyclodextrins, are cage-like organic compounds (with a nanocavity that contains O and N heteroatoms) with unique potential in supercapacitors. Here, we review the applications of macrocycles in supercapacitor systems, and we illustrate the merits of organic macrocycles in electrodes and electrolytes for improving the electrochemical double-layer capacitors and pseudocapacitance via supramolecular strategies. Then, the observed relationships between electrochemical performance and macrocyclic structures are introduced. This comprehensive review describes recent progress on macrocycle-block supercapacitors for researchers.

RESUMEN

BACKGROUND AND AIMS: In observational studies, statins have been suggested to have protective effects on venous thromboembolism (VTE), including deep vein thrombosis (DVT) and pulmonary embolism (PE). To this aim, we performed a two-sample mendelian randomization (MR) analysis to determine whether these associations were causal. METHODS AND RESULTS: Data on the single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) related to statin medication were obtained from the FinnGen study, and data for VTE, PE and DVT of lower extremities (LEDVT) were from the UK Biobank study, respectively. Inverse variance weighted (IVW) method was used as the principal analysis of MR, and sensitivity analysis was performed to detect horizontal pleiotropy and heterogeneity. MR estimates showed an inverse causal association between statin medication and the risk of VTE (odds ratio [OR]: 0.999, 95% CI: 0.998-1.000, P = 0.004), PE (OR: 0.999, 95% CI: 0.999-1.000, P = 0.011) and LEDVT (OR: 0.999, 95% CI: 0.999-1.000, P = 0.008). CONCLUSION: Our findings provide direct evidence that statins might decrease the risk of VTE, PE and LEDVT in agreement with observational studies. The specific mechanism of statin therapy for venous thromboembolism needs to be further studied.

RESUMEN

The modification of dissolved organic matter (DOM) degradation by plant carbon inputs represents a critical biogeochemical process that controls carbon dynamics. However, the priming effects (PEs) different plant tissues induce on the degradation of DOM pools with different stabilities remain unknown. In this study, PEs, induced by different tissue leachates of Phragmites australis, were evaluated via changes in DOM components and properties of both fresh and tidal water (with different stabilities). The results showed that DOM derived from different plant tissue leachates differed in composition and bioavailability. Inputs of tissue leachates induced PEs with different intensities and directions (negative or positive) on DOM degradation of fresh and tidal water. In fresh water, the PEs of leaf and root leachates were significantly higher than those of stem and rhizome leachates. The PE direction changed for DOM degradation between fresh and tidal water. The addition of leaf and root leachates tended to induce positive PEs on DOM degradation of fresh water, while resulting in negative PEs on DOM degradation of tidal water. Negative PEs for tidal water DOM may be due to preferential utilization of microbes, high salinity, and/or the promotion of exogenous DOM production from plant tissues. The results indicate that intensity and direction of PEs induced by plant leachates depend on both leachate type and water stability. The findings highlight the necessity to examine the nature of exogenous and native DOM when interpreting the interactive processes that regulate DOM degradation.

RESUMEN

Objective: To investigate the differences in clinical characteristics, diagnosis, and treatment of pediatric septic shock in pediatric intensive care unit (PICU) among hospitals of different levels. Methods: This retrospective study enrolled 368 children with septic shock treated in the PICU of Beijing Children's Hospital, Henan Children's Hospital, and Baoding Children's Hospital from January 2018 to December 2021. Their clinical data were collected, including the general information, location of onset (community or hospital-acquired), severity, pathogen positivity, consistence of guideline (the rate of standard attainment at 6 h after resuscitation and the rate of anti-infective drug administration within 1 h after diagnosis), treatment, and in-hospital mortality. The 3 hospitals were national, provincial, and municipal, respectively. Furthermore, the patients were divided into the tumor group and the non-tumor group, and into the in-hospital referral group and the outpatient or emergency admission group. Chi-square test and Mann-Whitney U test were used to analyze the data. Results: The 368 patients aged 32 (11, 98) months, of whom 223 were males and 145 females. There were 215, 107, and 46 patients with septic shock, with males of 141, 51, and 31 cases, from the national, provincial, and municipal hospitals, respectively. The difference in pediatric risk of mortality Ⅲ (PRISM Ⅲ) scores among the national, provincial and municipal group was statistically significant (26(19, 32) vs.19(12, 26) vs. 12(6, 19), Z=60.25,P<0.001). The difference in community acquired septic shock among the national, provincial and municipal group was statistically significant (31.6%(68/215) vs. 84.1%(90/107) vs. 91.3%(42/46), χ2=108.26,P<0.001). There were no significant differences in compliance with guidelines among the 3 groups (P>0.05). The main bacteria detected in the national group were Klebsiella pneumoniae (15.4% (12/78)) and Staphylococcus aureus (15.4% (12/78)); in the provincial group were Staphylococcus aureus (19.0% (12/63)) and Pseudomonas aeruginosa (12.7% (8/63)), and in the municipal group were Streptococcus pneumoniae (40.0% (10/25)) and Enteric bacilli (16.0% (4/25)). The difference in the proportion of virus and the proportion of 3 or more initial antimicrobials used among the national, provincial and municipal group was statistically significant (27.7% (43/155) vs. 14.9% (13/87) vs. 9.1% (3/33), 22.8%(49/215) vs. 11.2%(12/107) vs. 6.5%(3/46), χ2=8.82, 10.99, both P<0.05). There was no difference in the in-hospital mortality among the 3 groups (P>0.05). Regarding the subgroups of tumor and non-tumor, the national group had higher PRISM Ⅲ (31(24, 38) vs. 22 (21, 28) vs.16 (9, 22), 24 (18, 30) vs. 17(8, 24) vs. 10 (5, 16), Z=30.34, 10.45, both P<0.001), and it was the same for the subgroups of in-hospital referral and out-patient or emergency admission (29 (21, 39) vs. 23 (17, 30) vs. 15 (10, 29), 23 (17, 29) vs. 18 (10, 24) vs. 11 (5, 16), Z=20.33, 14.25, both P<0.001) as compared to the provincial and municipal group. There was no significant difference in the in-hospital mortality among the 2 pairs of subgroups (all P>0.05). Conclusion: There are differences in the severity, location of onset, pathogen composition, and initial antibiotics of pediatric septic shock in children's hospitals of different levels, but no differences in compliance with guidelines and in-hospital survival rate.

RESUMEN

Objective: To identify the risk factors in mortality of pediatric acute respiratory distress syndrome (PARDS) in pediatric intensive care unit (PICU). Methods: Second analysis of the data collected in the "efficacy of pulmonary surfactant (PS) in the treatment of children with moderate to severe PARDS" program. Retrospective case summary of the risk factors of mortality of children with moderate to severe PARDS who admitted in 14 participating tertiary PICU between December 2016 to December 2021. Differences in general condition, underlying diseases, oxygenation index, and mechanical ventilation were compared after the group was divided by survival at PICU discharge. When comparing between groups, the Mann-Whitney U test was used for measurement data, and the chi-square test was used for counting data. Receiver Operating Characteristic (ROC) curves were used to assess the accuracy of oxygen index (OI) in predicting mortality. Multivariate Logistic regression analysis was used to identify the risk factors for mortality. Results: Among 101 children with moderate to severe PARDS, 63 (62.4%) were males, 38 (37.6%) were females, aged (12±8) months. There were 23 cases in the non-survival group and 78 cases in the survival group. The combined rates of underlying diseases (52.2% (12/23) vs. 29.5% (23/78), χ2=4.04, P=0.045) and immune deficiency (30.4% (7/23) vs. 11.5% (9/78), χ2=4.76, P=0.029) in non-survival patients were significantly higher than those in survival patients, while the use of pulmonary surfactant (PS) was significantly lower (8.7% (2/23) vs. 41.0% (32/78), χ2=8.31, P=0.004). No significant differences existed in age, sex, pediatric critical illness score, etiology of PARDS, mechanical ventilation mode and fluid balance within 72 h (all P>0.05). OI on the first day (11.9(8.3, 17.1) vs.15.5(11.7, 23.0)), the second day (10.1(7.6, 16.6) vs.14.8(9.3, 26.2)) and the third day (9.2(6.6, 16.6) vs. 16.7(11.2, 31.4)) after PARDS identified were all higher in non-survival group compared to survival group (Z=-2.70, -2.52, -3.79 respectively, all P<0.05), and the improvement of OI in non-survival group was worse (0.03(-0.32, 0.31) vs. 0.32(-0.02, 0.56), Z=-2.49, P=0.013). ROC curve analysis showed that the OI on the thind day was more appropriate in predicting in-hospital mortality (area under the curve= 0.76, standard error 0.05,95%CI 0.65-0.87,P<0.001). When OI was set at 11.1, the sensitivity was 78.3% (95%CI 58.1%-90.3%), and the specificity was 60.3% (95%CI 49.2%-70.4%). Multivariate Logistic regression analysis showed that after adjusting for age, sex, pediatric critical illness score and fluid load within 72 h, no use of PS (OR=11.26, 95%CI 2.19-57.95, P=0.004), OI value on the third day (OR=7.93, 95%CI 1.51-41.69, P=0.014), and companied with immunodeficiency (OR=4.72, 95%CI 1.17-19.02, P=0.029) were independent risk factors for mortality in children with PARDS. Conclusions: The mortality of patients with moderate to severe PARDS is high, and immunodeficiency, no use of PS and OI on the third day after PARDS identified are the independent risk factors related to mortality. The OI on the third day after PARDS identified could be used to predict mortality.

RESUMEN

Due to the development of neonatal intensive care, the survival rate of very preterm infants and very low birth weight infants has been significantly improved, and the incidence of bronchopulmonary dysplasia (BPD) has been obviously increasing year by year. The pathogenesis of BPD has not been clear, it is considered that inflammation is an important link in the occurrence and development of BPD at present.Neutrophils can use their neutrophil extracellular traps (NETs) to capture and kill pathogens and reduce inflammation, but excessive formation of NETs is easy to induce inflammatory imbalance, so as to damage normal cells or tissues and participate in the pathophysiological process of BPD.This paper reviews the structure, formation, function and regulatory role of NETs in BPD, and the targeted treatment strategies and potential research directions of NETs in BPD.

RESUMEN

Background:With the advancement of endoscopic techniques, the detection rate of duodenal lesions has increased, and the selection and curative effect of endoscopic resection of duodenal lesions need to be further explored.Aims:To evaluate the safety and efficacy of endoscopic treatment of duodenal tumors. Methods:A retrospective analysis was conducted on 32 patients with duodenal tumors treated with endoscopic resection from January 2017 to January 2022 at Taizhou People's Hospital Affiliated to Nanjing Medical University. The location, depth, treatment method, postoperative pathology, and complications of duodenal tumors were summarized. Results:Among the 32 patients, there were 21 males and 11 females. Two patients presented with melena,10 patients had abdominal pain, and 20 patients were asymptomatic.Twenty-eight tumors were located in descending part of duodenum, and 4 were located in duodenal bulb. One patient underwent endoscopic submucosal excavation,2 underwent cold snare polypectomy,12 underwent endoscopic submucosal dissection, and 17 underwent endoscopic mucosal resection. All lesions were completely resected.Among the 32 lesions, there were 21 tubular adenoma or tubulovillous adenoma,7 Brunner's gland adenoma,2 lipoma,1 neuroendocrine tumor, and 1 stromal tumor. One patient with duodenal tubulovillous adenoma had perforation during operation and was transferred to surgery for repair. The other patients did not have complications such as perforation and bleeding during operation. All patients had no recurrence after postoperative endoscopy. Conclusions:Endoscopic treatment for duodenal tumors is safe and effective, and has good clinical value.
