RESUMO

This paper was designed to report the results of comparative clinical and functional studies involving 89 patients who presented with moderately severe chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and were given the combined treatment with yellow turpentine bathtubs and bronchodilators inhalations with the use of a nebulizer. The patients comprising group 1 (n=29) were treated with yellow turpentine bathtubs and bronchodilators inhalations, those making up group 2 (n=30) received monotherapy with yellow turpentine bathtubs alone, and the patients included in group 3 (n=3) served as controls treated with the use of therapeutic physical exercises and symptomatic medications analogous to those given to the patients of the two former groups. The results of the study give evidence of the advantages of the rehabilitative complex including yellow turpentine bathtubs and atrovent inhalations over two alternative therapeutic modalities attributable to its pronounced anti-inflammatory and immune-corrective activity that resulted in the generalized improvement of bronchial patency, reduction of lung hypertension, and enhancement of physical tolerance; taken together, these effects ensured the best clinical results.

RESUMO

The present study included 62 patients who had undergone the surgical intervention for the treatment of non-specific pulmonary diseases. All the patients were subjected to the psychological and spirometric examination. The study has demonstrated the relationship between the characteristics of the external respiration function on the one hand and the ability to handle stress, the levels of anxiety, tension, emotional instability and hypochondriacal mood on the other hand. It was shown that the respiratory and relaxation training improves the effectiveness of the treatment of the patients presenting with such symptoms due to the correction of their psychological status and optimization of the external respiration function. The highest effectiveness of the respiratory and relaxation training was documented in the patients suffering moderate neurotic disorders.

RESUMO

The present publication presents the available data concerning the mechanisms of the development of enhanced meteosensitivity in the patients presenting with chronic broncho-obstructive pulmonary pathology with special reference to the characteristics of the most important biotropic weather factors acting on the population of the Moscow region. The possibility is substantiated for the introduction of non-medicamental methods (such as gas-air sodium dioxide bathtubs, whole body bathtubs with the use of mitofen preparations, and interval hypoxic trainings) into the prophylactic programs designed to prevent weather-dependent exacerbations of the chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.

RESUMO

Bearing in mind the important role of oxidative stress and intensification of lipid peroxidation processes in the development and progression of obstructive pathology of the respiratory organs, we deemed it appropriate to evaluate the therapeutic effect of general baths containing biolong, an agent showing the antihypoxic and antioxidative properties. The clinical and functional studies that involved 109 patients (52 with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and 57 with bronchial asthma (BA)) have demonstrated the advantages of application of the hydrotherapeutic modality in the patients with bronchial asthma. The therapeutic effect was due to degradation of the allergic inflammation processes, the well apparent decrease in the activity of lipid peroxidation processes, the improvement of humoral immunity, generalized reduction of bronchial obstruction, enhanced physical working capacity, and psychoemotional adaptation.

RESUMO

The results of this study indicate that the application of gas-air carbonate baths resulted in the reduction of alveolar hypoxia, moderate increase in the patency of central bronchi, marked improvement of pulmonary and systemic cardiohemodynamics, and functional state of cellular immunity. Courses of lysozyme inhalation promoted degradation of the inflammatory process, reduction of disturbances in the mucociliary function, and improved functioning of the humoral component of the immune system. The combined application of rehabilitative technologies had the well apparent anti-inflammatory and immunocorrective effect, decreased general bronchial obstruction and hypoxia, improved pulmonary and systemic hemodynamics and contractile activity of the myocardium, and suppressed lung hypertension. These findings suggest complementary and additive action of the methods employed in the present study.

RESUMO

The present study is devoted to the estimation of therapeutic and prophylactic effects of cryomassage and silvinite speleotherapy in the patients with partially controlled asthma. Advantages of the combined application of rehabilitative technologies are illustrated by their well-expressed anti-inflammatory and immunocorrecive actions, reduced obstruction and hyper-reactivity of the bronchi, improved pulmonary cardiohemodynamics, enhanced physical tolerance and better psychological adaptation.

RESUMO

The influence of application of naftalan and therapeutic muds on clinical and roentgenological parameters, external respiration function, biochemical and immunological characteristics of the inflammatory process was studied in 82 patients presenting with protracted pneumonia and compared with the outcome of therapy using no physical factors. The application of naftalan and therapeutic muds was shown to reduce activity of inflammatory processes, improve airway patency and the state ofbronchial mucosa. Naftalan produced better therapeutic effect than muds.

RESUMO

We have investigated effects of turpentine baths with white emultion, yellow solution and mixed on the course of inflammation, immunocompetent system, external respiration function, pulmonary cardiohemodynamics, physical performance in patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. We developed differential indications for each bath variant depending on the features of a clinical picture of the disease, comorbid pathology and revealed contraindications to their administration.

RESUMO

The paper presents the results of using sylvinite speleotherapy, general salt baths and their combination in 120 patients with Stages I-II chronic obstructive pulmonary disease at a damped exacerbation and remission. It is shown that in the patients with this disease treated by the above procedures, the inflammatory process regresses, bronchial patency, central hemodynamics, exercise performance, and psychoemotional background improves and, during a long-term followup, the progression of the disease becomes slower, remissions prolong, exercise performance increases, and social adaptation improves.

RESUMO

80 patients with chronic bronchitis took baths with sodium chloride concentration 20, 40, 60 g/l and temperature 37-38 degrees C. The baths produced a positive effect on central and regional hemodynamics, reduced inflammation and sensitization.

RESUMO

Chronic bronchitis with obstructive syndrome was treated in 91 patients with contrast baths. The latter produced good results in 80.3% of the patients. This treatment is analysed as to clinical efficacy, the effect on the external respiration, right heart hemodynamics, inflammation activity, changes in immunity system. Principal contraindications are defined. A differential approach to contrast baths in chronic bronchitis after treatment is advocated.
