RESUMO

Congenital nasopharyngeal cysts are uncommon and usually located on the lateral wall of the nasopharynx. The literature groups lateral and medial cysts although they have different origins. A congenital nasopharyngead cyst in a 67-year-old man was diagnosed and treated. His only symptom was right hearing loss caused by secretory otitis. After cyst excision using a transpalatine approach, his hearing loss resolved within 4 days. Nasopharyngeal cyst types and their histological and anatomic differentiation are discussed. Therapeutic options and approaches are considered, and the need for total exeresis of the cyst with its capsule is noted.

RESUMO

Report of one tracheocele case casually uncovered in a man 51-year-old. Starting from the difference between congenital and acquired cases of this pathology the AA. refer to the symptomatologic picture, to diagnostical and therapeutical measures as well, pinpointing to possible complications that may arise specially by infants during the lactation period.

RESUMO

The study of 156 cases HIV infected patients put forward the high incidence of ENT manifestations in these cases. Cervical lymph nodes are an habitual manifestation of the disease. They appear as a host reaction versus viral infection and often they are the expression of opportunistic infection, Kaposi Sarcoma or lymphoma. They also have prognostic significance. We think that the lowe incidence of Kaposi Sarcoma in our report (comparing with other authors rates) is due to the fact that there is a smaller population of homosexuals in our environment.

RESUMO

To our knowledge the case which is reported is the seventh glomus tumor described so far. The mass was located in the ethmoidal cavity and a spreading to the nasal cavity and choana. Firstly, the patient was supposed to have a polyposis naso-sinusal due to the symptom. After being operated (maxillo-ethmoidectomy trans-sinusal technique) the light and electron microscopic descriptions of the mass which was excised, showed the real diagnosis "glomus tumor". The patient stopped coming to the controls one month after the first operation. He did not consult us until eight months later. It was found by TC a recurrence of the tumor. The patient did not complain of any symptoms. He was operated again (external ethmoidectomy technique) and the mass was completely removed. Eventually, the think that it is very important to distinguish the "glomus tumor" (the one which has just been described) from the non-chromaffin paraganglioma or chemodectoma.

RESUMO

Three groups: A) 10 operates of fistuloplastic. B) 10 operates of total laryngectomy competent in esophageal language. C) 10 normal persons. We took Kaplan and Polow scales of voice's qualities (1985). Four judges value independently from "0" to "10" all and every one of the "items". The obtained qualifications are put to the arithmetical mean and are set in the column of each "item". The great mean of deviation in the fistuloplastics was 1.17 while for the group of patients competent in esophageal language was 1.34.
