RESUMO

This paper aims to provide a multiple dependent state (MDS) sampling technique for light-emitting diode luminous intensities under indeterminacy by employing time truncated sampling schemes and the Weibull distribution. This indicates that ASN is significantly impacted by the indeterminacy parameter. Furthermore, a comparison is shown between the existing, indeterminate sampling plans and the recommended sample designs. The projected sampling technique is illustrated by calculating the luminous intensities of LEDs using the Weibull distribution. Based on the findings and practical example, we conclude that the suggested strategy needs a smaller sample size than SSP and the current MDS sampling plan.

RESUMO

It is well-known that smoking tobacco harms the respiratory system and can lead to various health problems. Regarding COVID-19, a respiratory illness caused by the novel coronavirus SARS-CoV-2, smoking may have implications for both the risk of infection and the severity of the disease. Several studies have explored the association between smoking and COVID-19. However, findings have been somewhat inconsistent and vary from region to region for sample size. This article aims to study the prevalence of COVID-19 among those affected with their ongoing smoking history by computing pooled estimates of the published research. Fixed effect meta-analysis by following the guidelines of PRISMA has been carried out on 34 studies. The patients with confirmed RT-PCR and CT-scan were included, a total of 13,368; The studies' quality assessment was performed according to the Appraisal Checklist recommended by the Joanna Briggs Institute. The effect sizes of the published research are presented in the form of pooled estimates with their respective confidence intervals. Forest plots are used to represent the effect size graphically. Current smokers' effect sizes are 0.12 (CI = 0.11-0.12); for non-smokers, it is estimated to be 0.88 (CI = 0.88-0.89). The heterogeneity statistic I2 describes 0% of the total variation, meaning no heterogeneity among studies exists. A higher prevalence of COVID-19 among non-smokers is observed than the smokers.

RESUMO

The existing t-test of a correlation coefficient works under a determinate environment. In uncertainty, the existing t-test of a correlation coefficient is unable to investigate the significance of correlation. The study presents a modification of the existing t-test of a correlation coefficient using neutrosophic statistics. The test statistic is designed to investigate the significance of correlation when imprecise observations or uncertainties in the level of significance are presented. The test is applied to data obtained from patients with diabetes. From the data analysis, the proposed t-test of a correlation coefficient is found to be more effective than existing tests.

RESUMO

To test the equality of several independent multinomial distributions, the chi-square test for count data is applied. The existing test can be applied when complete information about the data is available. The complex process, such as DNA count, the existing test under classical statistics may mislead. To overcome the issue, the modification of the chi-square test for multinomial distribution under neutrosophic statistics is presented in this paper. The modified form of the chi-square test statistic under indeterminacy/uncertainty is presented and applied using the DNA count data. From the DNA count data analysis, simulation, and comparative studies, the proposed test is found to be informative, springy, and good as compared with the existing tests.

RESUMO

The purpose of this paper is to develop a multiple dependent state (MDS) sampling plan based on time-truncated sampling schemes for the daily number of cases of the coronavirus disease COVID-19 using gamma distribution under indeterminacy. The proposed sampling scheme parameters include average sample number (ASN) and accept and reject sample numbers when the indeterminacy parameter is known. In addition to the parameters of the proposed sampling schemes, the resultant tables are provided for different known indeterminacy parametric values. The outcomes resulting from various sampling schemes show that the ASN decreases as indeterminacy values increase. This shows that the indeterminacy parameter plays a vital role for the ASN. A comparative study between the proposed sampling schemes and existing sampling schemes based on indeterminacy is also discussed. The projected sampling scheme is illustrated with the help of the daily number of cases of COVID-19 data. From the results and real example, we conclude that the proposed MDS sampling scheme under indeterminacy requires a smaller sample size compared to the single sampling plan (SSP) and the existing MDS sampling plan.

RESUMO

The existing paired t-test under classical statistics cannot be applied when the data is obtained from the complex process, having interval, uncertainty, indeterminacy, and incompleteness. In this paper, the modification of the paired t-test under neutrosophic statistics is proposed. The testing criterion of the proposed paired t-test is given. The application of the proposed paired t-test is given using the interval quality control of clinical laboratory data. From the analysis, it can be seen than the proposed test is quite effective and informative to apply for testing the measurement tools in the clinical laboratory.

RESUMO

The current manuscript proposes a SN2-NEWMA control chart for monitoring road accidents and injuries using repetitive sampling. The proposed chart helps in identifying the shifts in accidents and injuries more quickly than existing charts. The application of the proposed chart will help in reducing and identifying the reasons for road accidents and road injuries efficiently.

RESUMO

The concomitance between Parkinson's disease (PD) and myasthenia gravis (MG) is rare, with only a few case reports in the literature and only one of them with positive anti-muscle specific kinase (anti-MuSK) MG. The overlap between PD and MG symptoms can cause a diagnostic dilemma for the treating physician. In this report, we present a 73-year-old lady with a history of recurrent falls, dysphagia, and diplopia. She was found to have ptosis, vertical gaze restriction, neck extension, and flexion weakness, as well as features of parkinsonism, including masked face appearance, asymmetrical limbs rigidity, and bradykinesia. She was found to have a high titer antibody for MuSK MG. Her MG symptoms were treated successfully with rituximab.

RESUMO

In these last few decades, control charts have received a growing interest because of the important role they play by improving the quality of the products and services in industrial and non-industrial environments. Most of the existing control charts are based on the assumption of certainty and accuracy. However, in real-life applications, such as weather forecasting and stock prices, operators are not always certain about the accuracy of an observed data. To efficiently monitor such processes, this paper proposes a new cumulative sum (CUSUM) [Formula: see text] chart under the assumption of uncertainty using the neutrosophic statistic (NS). The performance of the new chart is investigated in terms of the neutrosophic run length properties using the Monte Carlo simulations approach. The efficiency of the proposed neutrosophic CUSUM (NCUSUM) [Formula: see text] chart is also compared to the one of the classical CUSUM [Formula: see text] chart. It is observed that the NCUSUM [Formula: see text] chart has very interesting properties compared to the classical CUSUM [Formula: see text] chart. The application and implementation of the NCUSUM [Formula: see text] chart are provided using simulated, petroleum and meteorological data.

RESUMO

In reliability theory or life testing, exponential distribution and Weibull distribution are frequently considered to model the lifetime of the components or systems. In this paper, we design a control chart based on the lifetime performance index using Type II censoring for exponential and Weibull distributions. Average run length helps to measure the performance of the proposed control chart. The optimal values of the number of failure items and decision criteria used to decide whether the process is in-control or out-of-control based on the sample results are determined such that the in-control average run length is as close as to the specified average run length values. We simulate the data to illustrate the performance of the proposed control chart.

RESUMO

Guillain-Barré syndrome (GBS) is a life-threatening form of inflammatory polyneuropathy. Immunotherapy with intravenous immunoglobulin (IVIG) has been used successfully in the treatment of GBS. In this case report, we present a severe axonal form of GBS that showed improvement after 3 cycles of IVIG. Repeated cycles of IVIG may be an option for treating severe forms of GBS not responding to the first course of such treatment. The recent work suggests that patients who are severely affected and have severe gadolinium enhancement on the magnetic resonance imaging of the spine should be considered for retreatment with IVIG. Although the cost of management was high, the outcome was excellent, which is definitely considered a reasonable approach. This case report is an urgent call for performing large multicenter trials on the use of repeated cycles of IVIG in the management of severe cases of GBS.
