RESUMO

Anaplastic lymphoma kinase rearrangement-associated renal cell carcinoma (ALK-RCC) is a rare subtype of renal cell carcinoma characterized by genetic rearrangements involving the ALK gene. Managing ALK-RCC is challenging due to its rarity and limited treatment options. Targeted therapies directed at the ALK gene have shown promise. ALK-RCC is a rare subtype of renal cell carcinoma with unique clinical and pathological features. ALK inhibitors may hold promise as a targeted therapy for ALK-RCC. Further research is needed to understand the behavior of ALK-RCC and develop effective treatment strategies.

RESUMO

Background: Online medical education is critical for public health literacy and physician efficacy, but it must be trustworthy. Although it has the potential to be a useful resource for medical education, users must be able to identify reliable content. Objective: To assess the scientific quality of Arabic-language video content related to erectile dysfunction that is available on YouTube to learn what information our patients can handle online. Materials and Methods: A comprehensive search of the YouTube database was carried out to identify videos related to erectile dysfunction published in Arabic. The search was conducted using the following keywords: "Erectile dysfunction", "Sexual dysfunction" and "Impotence". Without a time, limit, the search was carried out until January 1, 2023. The quality assessment of the videos was done using the Kappa score. Results: The videos in our sample had up to one million views (average 2,627,485.6), and the kappa index was 0.86 (p <0.001). Of these videos, 16% were considered scientific evidence-based (SEB), and 84% were considered not scientific evidence-based (NSEB) (p <0.001). The NSEB group addressed details concerning natural remedies, the Psychosocial sphere, and lifestyle, whereas the SEB group tended to be more concerned with physiopathology, etiology, endothelial dysfunction, diagnosis, psychosocial treatment, oral treatment, injections, or prosthesis. Conclusion: On social media, misleading or incorrect information about erectile dysfunction is widely disseminated. This research may support urological and technical oversight and emphasizes guiding patients to the best men's health options.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVES: To analyze the surgical outcomes of subtalar extra-articular arthroereisis and the patient/parent satisfaction regarding the foot's shape, foot pain, ability to walk, ability to jump, and shoe wear. METHODS: Our retrospective cross-sectional study was carried out through an online-based questionnaire to assess patient satisfaction postoperatively at 3 hospitals (King Khalid University Hospital, Sultan bin Abdulaziz Humanitarian City, and Dallah Hospital, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia) between the years 2014-2021. RESULTS: A total of 65 patients participated in our study. Approximately 86.1% of them had the operation bilaterally. The most important aspects where patients noticed the most improvement were the foot's shape (90.8%), pain (81.5%), and ability to walk (76.9%). CONCLUSION: Several studies have been carried out highlighting the surgical technique and complications of the procedure. However, a limited number of studies have been carried out to assess patient satisfaction with the procedure, especially in Saudi Arabia, as the procedure is considered relatively new in the region with insufficient data regarding it. Therefore, this study is considered one of the few articles regarding subtalar extra-articular arthroereisis in the region.

RESUMO

Rezum therapy is in emerging minimally invasive treatment for BPH. Complications of Rezum are underreported in the literature. We report a case of a 61-year-old male patient who presented to ED two months after Rezum with hematuria and clot retention. US showed prostate size of 315 g with cystic changes. The patient was managed with TURP and unexpectedly showed big contained hematoma below the bladder neck which was evacuated with adequate hemostasis.

RESUMO

INTRODUCTION: fall-related injuries are an important health concern around the globe, imposing an immense economic burden. The aim of this study is to evaluate the interventions and outcomes associated with fall-related injuries in a tertiary hospital in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA). METHODS: a cross-sectional study including 264 patients with fall-related injuries was conducted at the King Khalid Hospital and Prince Sultan Centre for Health Care and other hospitals in Al Kharj from March 01, 2019 to November 30, 2019. The patients were recruited, identified at the point of presentation to the emergency department and followed through the triage, admission and discharge processes. The researchers analysed the participant´s clinical notes on the electronic health record (EHR) to obtain information relevant to the study, including demographic information, the injury patterns and their management. RESULTS: most patients studied were children under the age of 10 (25.7%). The vast majority (96.9%) of patients fell from a height, while the rest fell from a height onto a sharp object. Most of them (90.9%) had experienced no shock symptoms. Upper limb injuries had the highest prevalence (37.8%), followed by lower limb injuries (22.7%), head injuries (19.7%) and skull fractures (13.6%). Invasive surgery, blood transfusions, admission to intensive care (ICU) and thoracostomy (chest tube) were required by 74%, 3%, 3% and 2% of patients, respectively. CONCLUSION: fall-related injuries may result in invasive surgery, chest drain insertion, or ICU admission, increasing the burden on the healthcare system.
