RESUMO
This paper examines the potential role that new communication and information technologies might play in hazards research and disaster management. Included is a discussion of current national and international efforts to bridge the gap between scientist and disaster planners, policy-makers and practitioners. The actual and potential integrative roles of the Internet and other international and national networks are also explored, including efforts to establish an integrated Australian Disaster Management Information Network. The latter could be a model for a global disaster management information network
