RESUMO

Myopia and glaucoma are the leading causes of irreversible blindness in the world, and as the number of nearsighted people is predicted to increase sharply in the upcoming decades, an increase in combined pathology is expected. This article analyzes literature sources to assess the epidemiology of glaucoma and myopia both worldwide and in the Russian Federation, examine the anatomical changes of the eyeball associated with these diseases, and identify the diagnostic criteria that facilitate the verification of glaucoma when combined with myopia.

RESUMO

PURPOSE: To determine the relationships between the changes in functional parameters of vision that occur in primary open-angle glaucoma (POAG) patients on neuroprotective therapy. MATERIAL AND METHODS: The study included 146 patients with stages I-III POAG aged 40 to 85 years. The patients were randomly divided into the study group and the control group at 2:1 ratio. All patients received traditional neuroprotective therapy. Patients of the study group were additionally treated with Retinalamine (#10, intramuscularly, one course). The patients were examined during the initial visit, then after 1 and 3 months; the examination included collection of anamnesis data, visometry, Maklakov tonometry, ophthalmoscopy, Förster white stimulus field of vision test, photostress test, and contrast sensitivity test. RESULTS: Examination data are included in the analysis. In the setting of drug therapy, patients showed widening of the visual field, improvement of uncorrected visual acuity and contrast sensitivity, and reduction of photostress test recovery time. Direct correlation was found between Retinalamine use, and uncorrected visual acuity and contrast sensitivity; it also had negative correlation with photostress test result. No adverse events occurred during the course of the study. CONCLUSION: Retinalamin (Russia) has prolonged neuroprotective effect in glaucoma. The drug is most effective in glaucoma stages I A and II A.

RESUMO

The authors describe an approach to the improvement of clinical efficacy of the method used to treat acquired myopia based on a set of reflexotherapeutic modalities. An algorithm is proposed for the choice of an optimal option. The best results were obtained with a combination of reflexotherapy, myotherapy, and pharmacopuncture of the Alloplant biomaterial.

RESUMO

Efficacy of reflexotherapy for patients with acquired myopia is analyzed. Guidelines for different reflexotherapy techniques and their combinations are presented. The best results were obtained when treated with complex technique that included biomaterial "Alloplant" pharmacopuncture.

RESUMO

The suppressive action of a magnet-laser ray and electrolyzed sodium hypochlorite solution on the persistence factors (antilysozyme, "anti-interferon") of Staphylococcus aureus and Neisseria gonorrhoeae is shown. The optimum conditions (time, dose, concentration) for the regulation of the persistence properties of the pathogens has been determined. The use of physicochemical factors in the proposed parameters has been shown to be effective for the therapy of purulent inflammatory diseases and the sanitation of S.aureus carriers.
