RESUMO

The functional colopathies are frequent in digestive pathology and are particularly badly felt by African patients. The authors, after the determination of the masticatory efficiency score (classification of Verkindere) of 100 subjects affected by colopathies and diagnosed in the service of gastroenterology of Cocody University Hospital (Abidjan), attempt to determine the importance of the masticatory deficiency in functional colopathies. Among the toothless subjects with functional colopathies, the restoration of the masticatory efficiency by functional prosthetic rehabilitation constitutes an essential therapeutic act in the reduction of the symptoms of the functional colopathies and the improvement of the comfort of the patients. Patients' global care raises the interest of collaboration between odontologists and gastroenterologists for an efficient treatment.

RESUMO

The obturating prostheses of the jawbone and the prostheses of rebuilding of the mandible make it possible to restore the losses of substance of the jawbone and of the mandible and to cure the functional and Aesthetic disorders which result from these losses of substance. The success of these prosthetic restorations can be compromised by technical, economic and cultural factors. The principal factors are the importance of the losses of substance, the reduced number of teeth, the poverty of the technical plate, the persistence of certain traditional concepts. The fight against these factors requires the promotion of therapeutic associations in maxillo-facial cancerology, the sensitizing of the populations to the early hospital consultations, the improvement of the technical plate of the prosthesis of the jawbone and the face, the facilitation of the access of the most underprivileged groups to the prosthetic restorations, the promotion of multi-field collaboration, the whole co-operation of the patient throughout the treatment and the follow-up postprothetic.

RESUMO

The objective of this work was to determinate the average value of the condylar slope of Black African subject and to set up its variation according to whether the localization of the hinge axis is real or arbitrary. With this intention, we made an axiographic study at 63 subjects presented complete natural teeth, with a normoclusion in class 1 of Angle. The results of this study reveal that the average value of the slope condylar is 44,28 degrees in arbitrary hinge axis and 45,7 degrees in hinge axis real; and this difference is not statistically significant. The graphic recording of condylar displacement by the "Quick-Axis" is thus possible without risk of error in the layout and the reproduction of the mandible movements which is of a great interest for the general practitioner taking into account the simplicity of handling of the FAG system.

RESUMO

The 243 sample prospective study shows specifities about black African teeth shade particularly the colour. The results after the use of a study mixed shader composed from three standard shaders are; first: the sequence from the clearest tooth to the less is: central incisor, lateral incisor. Second: the maxillary teeth shade is clearer than the mandibulars. Third, 16% teeth shade not be conducted to determine the objective parameters for black African dentogenics. Therefore: esthetic restorative treatment will be more efficient.

RESUMO

The toothless patients of developing country are a real problem of nutrition. The practitioners are in the habit of doing the prostheses restoration wit hoof thinking of alimentation. In this work, authors show the energetic and protein malnutrition of the toothless patients of Cote d'lvoire and propose a hyperprotein diet with their alimentation habit in order to prepare the psychic and physic site who must receive complete prostheses.

RESUMO

This thirty years literature review about removable complete denture prime impressions show that the plaster static impression is better. This product doesn't induce abnormal pressure on the biologic and anatomic support structures of the prosthesis. The plaster for impression physical properties is adapted to reproduce the details needed by the laboratory to manufacture the individual impression tray for the definitive functional impression. The only precaution is to follow the method. Our clinical experiences advise us to propose RIGNON-BRET (10, 11) simple plaster impression techniques. The one case where it is forbidden is when the patient has recently been treated by radiotherapy. All the other materials induce irritated pressure on the alveolar bone and consequently the second functional pressure added the stability of the denture may be defected.

RESUMO

The current 89 samples comparative study shows that the mandible arch is different statistically in Blacks and Whites populations. African Blacks mandible dimensions are superior considering both inter retromolar tubercles measurements and the arch length. Therefore, the impression trays manufacturing should be reconsidered for Blacks prosthetic rehabilitation.

RESUMO

The study of the cinematic method using "SAM" and "Quick Axis of FAG" added to mandibular condyle palpation for the hinge axis limited points, show that the Black Africans mandibular condyle rotation axis position is higher (3.5 mm) and backer (2 mm) than the Caucasians. The axial points are located to between 11 and 12 mm in front of the tragus and between 7 and 8 mm below on the perpendicular line to the furrow defining the tragus superior side to the Ectocanthus.

RESUMO

The choice of the size of artificial teeth takes an important place in the treatment of edentulism with removable prosthesis. However, the standards or proportions commonly used as guide have been developed mainly on Caucasian populations. This study have been undertaken to determine some proportions between anterior upper teeth and some maxillo-facial structures in black African subjects. The results suggest that the proportions generally used to choice the anterior upper artificial teeth in Caucasian subjects can not been applied in melanoderme African patients.

RESUMO

In removable complete prosthesis, the RICKETTS' Xi point is used as posterior determinant during the occlusal line reconstruction. In dentulous subject, the crossing of this line nearness to this point definite the Lo-Xi segment. The cephalometric study of this distance from 17 linear and angular variables, has been undertaken on 50 Africans melanoderm subjects. The statistic analysis of correlation and multiple regression shows that Lo-Xi is the resultant of the posterior molars stops of occlusion, the anterior incisive reference point to the base of the skull. The point appears very unsettled from and an individual to another. So, it can't be used as a credible reference in black Africans.

RESUMO

From a sample divides in five groups of different skin colours, the authors determine, by the visual method, the shade of incisives, canines and first premolars. This study allows to confirm the harmony between the anterior teeth among African melanoderme subjects. Then, it underlines a possible relation between the skin colour and the teeth's shade. In fact, the shade of the teeth seems to evolve in the opposite direction of the colour of the skin in the experimental sample.

RESUMO

The first mandibular premolars are usually described as teeth with disproportionate cusp. The vestibular's is bulkier and higher than the lingual one. This study confronts this description with the clinical realities observed in Ivory Coast by comparing first mandibular premolars with the seconds. It points out: a slight difference of volume between the first and second mandibular premolars a less important disproportion between the lingual and vestibular cusp of the first mandibular premolar which morphology tends towards the second's.

RESUMO

The buccodental health in Africa is distinctive because of the weakness of substructure to supply the needs in dental cure. This study shows how the ivoirians take interest in buccodental care and health care. It notifies that: Firstly, patients only make an appointment with the dentist particularly when advanced lesions occur (92.76% of cases) as unbearable painful affections (acule pulpal inflammatory, phoenix abscess); bulky cellulitis. Secondly, they are inclined not to show up for their appointment, when painful symptoms disappear. Consequently the author recommend some therapeutic acts.
