RESUMO

Vaccination qualifies as the most effective medical procedure worldwide. Using the example of human papillomavirus(HPV)-associated benign and malignant diseases, the incidence, diagnostics, treatment, particularly however, the option of sustainable elimination of all these entities by achieving herd immunity by a gender balanced inoculation quota of 80% at the age of 9-17 years are shown.

RESUMO

The long-lasting trusting partnership between physicians and the pharmaceutical industry with respect to experience from applied research of medications and vocational training, was severely tested by campaign-like dissemination of collective accusations of corruption. Instead of standing by their responsibility to financing clinical research and vocational training of physicians, the health insurance companies in particular claim that physicians are being extensively bribed by the pharmaceutical industry. In order to continuously improve the mutual targets, i.e. the treatment options for patients, both groups have developed transparency regulations.

RESUMO

In order to adequately serve adolescent males concerning educational and informational needs and in order to compensate for the lack of male role models who are able to answer questions adolescents may have concerning physical maturation, sexual development and orientation accompanied by possible inner conflicts, it is recommended that the urologist establish a "consultation for young men" as a form of medical guidance during this difficult phase of life.

RESUMO

In a field of medicine with fluid boundaries between the sectors and between the productive faculties, healthcare research is an indispensible responsibility of all participants. This can only be successful in improving the treatment quality of patients in the long-term by analysis of the treatment reality in routine daily work. This can be achieved by a closer cooperation between urologists in private practice and in hospitals in order to have a better definition of mutual treatment targets, to optimize therapy and to make a better analysis of target achievements. The importance of urologists in all fields of medical care and also for superordinate committees can only be visibly presented by the production of comprehensive objective figures and therefore to guarantee the long-term procurement of necessary resources.

RESUMO

From the investigations by Mr. Scheidegger (nestor of medical error management for over 20 years) it is known that in the past patient safety has not received sufficient attention during a treatment process even though it had been known for many years that more than 10% of patients will suffer an adverse event during hospitalization. If one realizes how many patients receive inpatient and outpatient treatment in Germany alone it becomes evident how relevant this problem is and what enormous costs (extended hospital stay, continued morbidity, reduced productivity, liability etc.) result for the healthcare system and for society. The critical incident reporting system (CIRS) would enable physicians to reduce the error rate and in particular the sometimes tragic consequences for patients.
