RESUMO
A retrospective review comparing bladder absorption of pertechnetate and Tc-99m sulfur colloid from the augmented bladder was performed. Based upon the author's findings, the routine use of Tc-99m sulfur colloid in this patient population is recommended to prevent the erroneous diagnosis of vesicoureteral reflux and miscalculation of GFR due to the presence of background soft-tissue and blood activity.

We report a case of renal failure in a solitary kidney with manifestation of tuberous sclerosis, synchronous renal cell carcinoma and angiolipomatosis. A review of the literature disclosed the rare coexistence of these 2 tumors in tuberous sclerosis and the diagnostic difficulties in distinguishing these neoplasms.

Nuclear cystography is recommended for the evaluation of vesicoureteral reflux because of its high sensitivity and its low radiation exposure. We encountered a potential source of false-positive studies in patients who have had an ileocecocystoplasty for bladder augmentation. This case presentation illustrates the findings in such a patient.

Several years ago we began to inject mineral oil through a ureteral catheter to facilitate stone extraction. Some success was achieved, particularly with impacted calculi. However, we report 2 cases of mineral oil granuloma of the ureter. We now urge that only water soluble lubricants be used in the ureter to avoid this problem.

A false aneurysm arising from an aortofemoral bifurcation graft caused symptomatic ureteral obstruction in a 69-year-old woman. Following revision of the aortograft anastomosis, her symptoms and ureteral obstruction subsided. The prevention and treatment of ureteral complications following vascular surgery are discussed. Postoperative pyelograms may be indicated in the vascular bypass patient.
