Physical activity (PA) helps prevention and aftercare of sporadic breast cancer (BC), cardiopulmonary fitness (CPF) being an age-independent predictor of tumor-specific mortality. Therefore, we wanted to identify predictors of CPF (represented by peak oxygen uptake: VO2peak) in BRCA1/2 mutation carriers whose risk of developing BC is high. We used cross-sectional data from 68 BRCA1/2 germline mutation carrying women participating in the randomized, prospective, controlled clinical study LIBRE-1. Assessments included cardiopulmonary exercise testing, medical and lifestyle history plus socioeconomic status. Additionally, the participants completed a psychological questionnaire regarding their attitude, subjective norms, perceived behavior control and intention towards PA. A multivariate logistic regression model was used to identify predictors for participants reaching their age- and sex-adjusted VO2peak reference values. 22 participants (median age: 40 years, interquartile range (IQR) 33-46) were cancer-unaffected and 46 cancer-affected (median age: 44 years, IQR 35-50). The strongest predictor for reaching the reference VO2peak value was attitude towards PA (Odds Ratio 3.0; 95% Confidence Interval 1.3-8.4; p = 0.021). None of the other predictors showed a significant association. A positive attitude towards PA seems to be associated with VO2peak, which should be considered in developing therapeutic and preventive strategies.Trial registrations: NCT02087592; DRKS00005736.

INTRODUCTION: Reduced testosterone levels due to androgen deprivation therapy (ADT) in prostate cancer patients cause common side effects, such as reduced muscle strength and bone density, increased fat mass, sexual dysfunction and fatigue. Short-term exercise during ADT has proven to be safe and effective in exhibiting a positive impact on body composition, sexual dysfunction and fatigue. However, there are only three randomized controlled trials that investigate one-year supervised impact exercise interventions, none of which examined follow-up effects after the intervention. Therefore, this study will conduct a one-year impact exercise intervention and assess follow-up effects up to one year later. MATERIAL AND METHODS: The aim of the randomized, controlled Burgdorf study is to assess the effects of a supervised 12-month intensive multimodal exercise intervention in comparison to a moderate aerobic exercise intervention, on muscle strength in prostate cancer patients receiving ADT. Additionally, quality of life, fatigue, body composition, erectile dysfunction, bone pain, physical activity level, endurance capacity, body-mass-index, waist and hip circumference and prostate-specific antigen- and testosterone levels will be assessed up to one year later. DISCUSSION: The Burgdorf study is the first study to conduct two different one-year supervised exercise interventions, and follow-up with patients for up to one year after the intervention. Results could provide important insights into the long-term effects of interventions on those parameters negatively affected by ADT, which could specify or newly establish care structures. Chemotherapy-induced peripheral neuropathy (CIPN) is a prevalent and clinically relevant side effect of chemotherapy. The symptoms diminish patients' quality of life and represent a decisive limiting factor for medical therapy. To date, effective treatment options are lacking. Specific exercise interventions have proven promising to target relevant symptoms. We conducted a prospective, four-armed, randomized, controlled trial, to evaluate the effects of sensorimotor training (SMT) and whole-body vibration training (WBV) on patients with CIPN. Participants (N = 40) were randomized to either one of two intervention groups (SMT N = 10 or WBV N = 10) or oncological control group (N = 10) and matched by gender and age with a healthy control (N = 10). The intervention groups exercised twice a week for 6 weeks. Primary endpoint was the reduction of CIPN-related symptoms (improve peripheral deep sensitivity, Achilles tendon reflex (ASR) and patellar tendon reflex (PSR), light-touch perception, sense of position, and lower leg strength). Secondary endpoints were nerve conduction velocity and amplitude, balance control, quality of life, and CIPN-related pain. Patients exercising improved sensory and associated motor symptoms. Significant intergroup differences were found for the tendon reflexes (ASR P = .017 and PSR P = .020), peripheral deep sensitivity (P = .010), and pain (P = .043). Furthermore, tendencies were found regarding the subjective improvement of symptoms (P = .075) and two subscales of the EORTC-QLQ-C30 questionnaire: pain (P = .054) and dyspnea (P = .054). The results for the SMT group were superior regarding the tendon reflexes, and a tendency regarding the subjective report of symptoms, while WBV was superior regarding pain. SMT and WBV behold a large potential to reduce CIPN-related symptoms and can be considered feasible and safe for patients with CIPN (compliance 97.5%, no adverse events).Registration: DRKS00013027.

PURPOSE: The aim of this systematic review is to assess the effect of different types of exercise on breast cancer-related lymphedema (BCRL) in order to elucidate the role of exercise in this patient group. METHODS: A systematic data search was performed using PubMed (December 2016). The review is focused on the rehabilitative aspect of BCRL and undertaken according to the PRISMA statement with Levels of Evidence (LoE) assessed. RESULTS: 11 randomized controlled trials (9 with LoE 1a and 2 with LoE 1b) that included 458 women with breast cancer in aftercare were included. The different types of exercise consisted of aqua lymph training, swimming, resistance exercise, yoga, aerobic, and gravity-resistive exercise. Four of the studies measured a significant reduction in BCRL status based on arm volume and seven studies reported significant subjective improvements. No study showed adverse effects of exercise on BCRL. CONCLUSION: The evidence indicates that exercise can improve subjective and objective parameters in BCRL patients, with dynamic, moderate, and high-frequency exercise appearing to provide the most positive effects.

Aim In Germany all childhood cancer patients and their families are offered the opportunity to participate in a four-week, family-oriented, inpatient rehabilitation program in order to facilitate (re-)integration into everyday life. The aim of this study is to evaluate the effect of this rehabilitation program on motor performance, quality of life (QoL) and fatigue. Methods Motor performance, QoL and fatigue were assessed in 22 childhood cancer patients and 20 healthy siblings at the beginning (t1) and the end (t2) of the four-week rehabilitation program, as well as 6 months later (t3). Results At t1 significant differences between groups were found in motor performance and physical well-being. Improvements in motor performance, QoL and fatigue were found in both groups. Conclusion Different preconditions must be considered. Childhood cancer patients as well as healthy siblings benefit from a family-oriented rehabilitation program.

INTRODUCTION: In selected cases, microsurgical clipping remains a valuable treatment alternative to endovascular occlusion of anterior communicating artery (AComA) aneurysms. Their clipping is challenging and carries a risk of postsurgical cognitive impairment. We evaluate the microsurgical anatomy of a new, minimally invasive combined interhemispheric-subfrontal approach to the AComA complex via a medial supraorbital craniotomy. METHODS: In this descriptive anatomic study, four alcohol-embedded, silicon-injected human cadaver heads were used. In each of the two cadavers, the AComA complex was approached from either the right or left side. An operating microscope and standard microsurgical instruments were used. RESULTS: After a medial eyebrow incision, a medial supraorbital minicraniotomy was performed. The frontal sinus was opened and cranialized. Following the dural opening, a subfrontal arachnoid dissection was performed to identify the optico-carotid complex. By following the A1 segment, a low-lying AComA complex could be visualized. Shifting the corridor towards the midline enabled an interhemispheric dissection. This dissection resulted in a wide superior-inferior corridor. Higher-lying AComA complexes could also be visualized. The achieved exposure of the AComA complex would allow safe dissection and clipping of low- and high-lying AComA aneurysms, with minimal retraction and preservation of the surrounding anatomical structures, in particular the perforators. CONCLUSIONS: We demonstrate the anatomy of a novel approach for surgical clipping of AComA aneurysms. Our study suggests that this approach provides good exposure without concomitant structural and vascular injury and thus might reduce the risk of procedure-related morbidity.

PURPOSE: Anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) ruptures are often associated with primary meniscal and cartilage lesions. Late reconstruction of ACL-deficient knees may increase the risk of developing secondary meniscal and cartilage lesions; hence, the timing of ACL repair is of the utmost importance. Because meniscus outcome is also a potential predictor for osteoarthritis (OA), this study compared ACL repair within the first 6 months after injury to that of surgery conducted 7-12 months after injury with regard to the incidence of meniscal and cartilage lesions. METHODS: This prospective cross-sectional study included all complete isolated primary ACL ruptures treated in our institution within 1 year after trauma over a 12-month period. Exclusion criteria were revision ACL, complex ligament injuries, previous knee surgery, and missing injury data. Cartilage lesions were classified according to the score established by the International Cartilage Repair Society (ICRS score) and meniscal tears according to their treatment options. RESULTS: Two hundred and thirty-three of 730 patients (162 men, 71 women) with ACL repair met the inclusion criteria. 86.3 % of surgical interventions were conducted within 6 months and 13.7 % after 6 months of trauma. Severe cartilage lesions grade III-IV did not significantly differ between the different time points of ACL repair (<6 months 39.9 %; >6 months 31.3 %; p = n.s.). Medial meniscus lesions received significantly higher meniscal repair in early compared to delayed ACL repair. Significantly higher rate of meniscal repair of the medial meniscus was seen in cases of early ACL repair compared to delayed (<6 months 77.2 %, >6 months 46.7; p = 0.022). The rate of medial meniscal repair in early ACL repair was significantly higher for women (89.5-0 %; p = 0.002), however, not for men (73.3-53.8 %; p = n.s.). No differences were found for lateral meniscal lesions, with regard to neither the different time points (p = n.s.) nor the sex (p = n.s.). CONCLUSIONS: Because of the significantly higher rate of prognostically advantageous meniscal repair, the recommendation for an ACL reconstruction within 6 months after trauma was made to preserve the meniscus and reduce the risk of developing OA. Cancer patients with bone metastases have previously been excluded from participation in physical activity programmes due to concerns of skeletal fractures. Our aim was to provide initial information on the association between physical activity levels and physical and mental health outcomes in prostate cancer patients with bone metastases. Between 2012 and 2015, 55 prostate cancer patients (mean age 69.7 ± 8.3; BMI 28.6 ± 4.0) with bone metastases (58.2% >2 regions affected) undertook assessments for self-reported physical activity, physical and mental health outcomes (SF-36), objective physical performance measures and body composition by DXA. Sixteen men (29%) met the current aerobic exercise guidelines for cancer survivors, while 39 (71%) reported lower aerobic exercise levels. Men not meeting aerobic exercise guidelines had lower physical functioning (p = .004), role functioning (physical and emotional) (p < .05), general health scores (p = .014) as well all lower measures of physical performance (p < .05). Lower levels of aerobic exercise are associated with reduced physical and mental health outcomes in prostate cancer patients with bone metastases. While previous research has focused primarily in those with non-metastatic disease, our initial results suggest that higher levels of aerobic exercise may preserve physical and mental health outcomes in prostate cancer patients with bone metastases. BACKGROUND: New regulations of the German statutory accident insurance for inpatient treatment have been introduced. The aims of the new regulations are to improve cost-effectiveness and the quality of medical care. The introduction of the injury type catalogue and the severe injuries type procedure (SAV) has led to a concentration of resources. The purpose of these innovations is an increase in the quality of treatment of patients with complex injuries. CONCLUSION: The introduction of the new regulations resulted in a centralization of medical care in order to optimize the quality of treatment of complex injuries from occupational accidents. Hence, the high demands concerning infrastructure and human resources expected of a level one university medical center are taken into account.

Cancer related cognitive impairments (CRCI) are frequently reported by patients prior to, during and after medical treatment. Although this cognitive decline severely affects patients' quality of life, little is known about effective treatments. Exercise programs represent a promising supportive strategy in this field. However, evidence is sparse and existing studies display methodological limitations. In the planned study, 83 men and women newly diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia (AML) or myelodysplastic syndrome (MDS) will be randomized into one of three treatment groups. During 4weeks of induction chemotherapy with Anthracycline and Cytarabin patients allocated to exercise group will cycle 3×/week for 30min at moderate to vigorous intensity on an ergometer. Patients allocated to placebo group will receive a supervised myofascial release training (3×/week, approx. 30min) and patients at control group will get usual care. As primary endpoints a cognitive test battery will be conducted measuring performances depending on verbal/spatial memory and executive functioning. Secondary endpoints will be self-perceived cognitive functioning, as well as neurotrophic and inflammatory serum markers. All assessments will be conducted immediately after hospitalization and before chemotherapy is commenced, immediately before discharge of hospital after 4-5weeks as well as before continuing medical treatment 3-4weeks after discharge. This will be the first study investigating the impact of an aerobic exercise training on CRCI in AML/MDS patients. We hope that the study design and the state-of-the-art assessments will help to increase knowledge about CRCI in general and exercise as potential treatment option in this under investigated population.

Introduction: The literature indicates that medical staff suffer from a decline in cognitive and physical performance at night. This study evaluates the process quality and outcomes of emergency care during night-time and daytime. Method: Out of 1,226 prospectively registered patients, 420 were included into this study (observation period: 76 months). Inclusion criteria were an ISS ≥ 16 and admission to trauma room during "DAY" (8 am to 4 : 49 pm) or "NIGHT" (9 pm to 5 : 59 am). The fundamental part was the 130 items of the TraumaRegister DGU. The additional 350 items contain data about prehospital treatment, trauma room management and intensive care. Data were collected by a research assistant over a 24-h period. Results: The study sample contained 268 DAY-patients and 152 NIGHT-patients. Patients admitted during night were injured more severely: ISS 34.9 (± 16.4) vs. 31.1 (± 14.2), p = 0.015 and younger: 33.3 (± 16.6) vs. 43.6 (± 22.3) years old, p < 0.001. However, this had no impact on outcome prediction scores like RISC, RISC2 or TRISS, p ≥ 0.775. Furthermore, no difference in process quality was observed like the time to gain an arterial access: NIGHT 4.5 (± 3.7) vs. DAY 5.0 (± 3.7) min, p = 0.116, time for splinting 3.8 (± 3.7) vs. 3.4 (± 3.1) min, p = 0.922, or other parameters, like time to CT: 26.9 (± 11.2) vs. 26.6 (± 14.5) min, p = 0.520. Nor was there any difference in outcome: 17.8 % of the NIGHT-patients (RISC-prognosis: 23.8 %, SMR 0.74) died in hospital, and 18.3 % of the DAY-patients (RISC-prognosis: 24.0 %, SMR 0.77), p = 0.894. As well the comparison of the Glasgow Outcome Scale revealed no difference: NIGHT 3.8 (± 1.5) vs. DAY 3.8 (± 1.6), p = 0.491. Discussion: Although evidence suggests a drop of performance by medical staff at night, this effect could not be demonstrated. Considering this, the level of process quality and outcome - regardless of the time of arrival - remained constant on a high level. These results might be attributable to the quality management and the standardisation of the treatment.

UNLABELLED: INTRODUCTION Alternative fusion expanders are in clinical use for instrumented posterolateral fusion (PLF) to avoid donor site morbidity in autologous bone graft (ABG) harvesting. Purpose of this study was to evaluate demineralized bone matrix (DBM) in PLF as alternative to the gold standard of ABG in acute traumatic vertebral body fractures of the thoracolumbar spine. MATERIAL AND METHODS We retrospectively identified 101 patients with acute traumatic vertebral body fractures of the thoracic and lumbar spine who were treated with instrumented PLF in our level one trauma center between 2005 and 2011. Patients with a primary paraplegia, osteodepriving disease or loss to follow-up had been excluded. Until August 2008, autologous bone graft harvested from the posterior iliac crest was used in PLF (control group n = 46). Starting September 2008, DBM was used as fusion expander in PLF (study group n = 16). Clinical and radiological evaluation was performed with a minimum followup of 18 months to assess the clinical and radiological outcome. RESULTS We found a fusion rate of 94% in patients undergoing PLF with the use of DBM and 100% with the use of ABG. There was one major complication of deep infection in the DBM group and two cases of superficial wound infection in the ABG group. We discovered a trend of reduced operating time with the use of DBM. CONCLUSIONS DBM leads to a similar fusion rate as the use of ABG in patients undergoing PLF for acute traumatic vertebral body fractures of the thoracic and lumbar spine. DBM is associated with reduced operating time. Intraoperative assessment of the femoral axis, length and torsion can be difficult. A postoperative torsional discrepancy is a common but rarely diagnosed condition. A clinical evaluation of femoral torsion is limited, especially in the early postoperative period. Conventional radiographs are a reliable diagnostic tool for evaluation of discrepancies of leg length and axis. Computed tomography remains the gold standard for assessment of torsional discrepancies. Because of the wide variability of the physiological femoral torsion, the clinical impact of a torsional discrepancy in individual cases remains unclear. There is a general recommendation for revision in cases of intraindividual deviations of more than 15°; however, most patients with deviations even greater than 15° are asymptomatic. Therefore, the indications for correction should be carefully considered in each individual case. The patient level of activity is a crucial point in decision-making for correction osteotomy. Before correction osteotomy, the surgeon has to make a detailed biomechanical analysis of the leg. Early correction is recommended in most cases. Detailed knowledge of the patient medical history is needed for preoperative planning. Prior surgeries can have a significant impact on the choice of the surgical approach and stabilization technique.

Exercise has been proven to reduce the risk and progression of various diseases, such as cancer, diabetes and neurodegenerative disorders. Increasing evidence suggests that exercise affects the cytokine profile and changes distribution and function of tumor-competitive immune cells. Initial studies have shown that different exercise interventions are associated with epigenetic modifications in different tissues and cell types, such as muscle, fat, brain and blood. The present investigation examines the effect of an intense endurance run (half marathon) on global epigenetic modifications in natural killer (NK) cells in 14 cancer patients compared to 14 healthy controls. We were able to show that histone acetylation and NKG2D expression, a functional NK cell marker, were elevated for at least 24 h after the run. Thus, this is the first study to present a potential mechanism of how exercise may impact NK cell activity on the subcellular level. Further studies should focus on epigenetic mechanisms and dose-dependent effects of exercise.

BACKGROUND: Lymphoma patients undergoing therapy must cope with the side-effects of the disease itself, therapy and associated immobility. Peripheral neuropathy (PNP), loss of balance control and weakness not only diminishes patients' quality of life (QOL), it can also affect planning and the dosage of therapy. Exercise may enable patients to reverse these declines, improving their performance level and QOL. PATIENTS AND METHODS: We carried out a randomized, controlled trial, assigning 61 lymphoma patients either to a control group (CG; N=31) or to a 36-week intervention (IG; N=30), consisting of sensorimotor-, endurance- and strength training twice a week. Primary end point was QOL; secondary end points included movement coordination, endurance, strength and therapy-induced side-effects. RESULTS: Intergroup comparison revealed improved QOL- (ΔT1-T0; P=0.03) and PNP-related deep sensitivity in the IG: 87.5% were able to reduce the symptom, compared with 0% in the CG (P<0.001). Significant differences in the change of balance control could be found between the groups, with the IG improving while the CG steadily declined (monopedal static ΔT3-T0; P=0.03; dynamic ΔT3-T0; P=0.007; perturbed mono-ΔT3-T0; P=0.009 and bipedal ΔT3-T0; P=0.006), failed attempts (monopedal static ΔT3-T0; P=0.02, dynamic ΔT3-T0; P<0.001and perturbed ΔT3-T0; P=0.006) and improved time to regain balance (ΔT3-T0; P=0.04). Moreover, the change in the aerobic performance level (ΔT3-T0; P=0.05) and additional amount of exercise carried out per week [metabolic equivalent (MET); P=0.02] differed significantly across groups. CONCLUSIONS: Exercise, especially sensorimotor training, is a feasible and promising method to support cancer patients during therapy. It improves patients QOL, reduces restrictions from side-effects such as PNP and improves patients' balance control, physical performance level and mobility. AIM OF THE WORK: Cancer and its commonly required continuous and intensive medical treatment have a profound and lasting effect on patients' physical, functional, emotional and social wellbeing. In this context the positive comprehensive effects of physical exercise interventions increasingly prove to be promising. The aim of this review is to derive physical exercise recommendations for patients with cancer, especially concerning aerobic and resistance training during rehabilitation, based on the current literature. In a second step the 3 main cancer types breast cancer, prostate cancer and colon cancer and their distinctive features will be addressed briefly. METHODS: A hierarchic literature research was conducted using the medical information portal Medpilot. The evaluation system of the "European Society of Cardiology" was applied in order to evaluate the evidence and compile evidence-based exercise recommendations for patients with cancer. RESULTS: When summing up the current data, physical exercise proves to be efficient, safe and feasible for patients with cancer. Both aerobic and resistance training have a positive influence on a patient's physical, psychological and social level and should therefore be included in every exercise program. CONCLUSION: While the evidence for breast cancer and increasingly also for prostate cancer is strong, research in colon cancer, for example, is still sparse. In order to create precise recommendations regarding the ideal exercise type and dose for the different cancer types during various treatment phases further high quality studies are necessary.

BACKGROUND/AIM: Obesity is a risk factor for chronic venous disease. However, the mechanisms behind this association are poorly understood. We tested the hypothesis that obese subjects have a higher diurnal leg volume increase compared with non-obese subjects. METHODS: In this prospective cohort study including obese (body mass index, BMI ≥30 kg m(-)(2)) and non-obese (BMI ≤25 kg m(-)(2)) subjects without venous insufficiency, lower leg volume was assessed by optoelectronic volumetry in the morning and in the evening. All subjects underwent duplex ultrasound and light reflection rheography (venous pump power and venous refill time, VRT) to investigate lower extremity venous function. A pedometer was carried between the morning and evening visit to assess the daily number of footsteps. A backward multivariable linear regression model was used to determine factors associated with diurnal lower leg volume increase. RESULTS: Forty-two limbs in 24 obese subjects and 29 limbs in 15 non-obese subjects were analyzed. Obese subjects had larger common femoral vein diameters (17.1±2.4 vs 15.5±2.4 mm, P<0.01) and slower peak, mean and minimal velocities (25.1±10.6 vs 44.3±14.3 cm s(-1); 6.8±2.4 vs 12.7±5.6 cm s(-1); -0.2±6.4 vs -6.3±11.9 cm s(-1); P<0.01 for all) than non-obese subjects. VRT was shorter in obese subjects (40.5±15.0 vs 51.0±12.1 s, P<0.01) and decreased significantly in the course of the day only in obese subjects (P<0.01). Obesity, male gender, CEAP (Clinical-Etiology-Anatomy-Pathophysiology) class, total time between the two visits and difference between morning and evening VRT were positively associated with higher lower leg volume increase; morning VRT and the total number of footsteps showed a negative association (P<0.04 for all). CONCLUSION: Obesity was found to be an independent predictor of higher diurnal leg volume increase. One potential mechanism is a progressive failure of venous valve function in the course of the day in obese subjects.

Aortic aneurysms and aortic dissection represent a significant health risk due to the demographic developments and current life styles. The mortality of ruptured aortic aneurysms is up to 80 % and the prevalence of aneurysms varies depending on the localization (thoracic or abdominal). Most commonly affected is the infrarenal abdominal aorta; however, there is evidence that the prevalence is diminishing but in contrast the incidence of thoracic aortic aneurysms is increasing. Aortic dissection is often fatal and is the most common acute aortic disease but the incidence is presumed to be underestimated. The pathogenesis of aortic aneurysms is manifold and is based on an interplay between degenerative, proteolytic and inflammatory processes. An aortic dissection arises from a tear in the intima which results in a separation of the aortic wall layers with infiltration of bleeding and the danger of aortic rupture. Various genetic disorders of connective tissue promote degeneration of the aortic media, most notably Marfan syndrome. Risk factors for aortic aneurysms and aortic dissection are nicotine abuse, arterial hypertension, age and male gender. Aortic aneurysms initially have an uneventful course and as a consequence are mostly discovered incidentally. The clinical course and symptoms of aortic dissection are very much dependent on the section of the aorta affected and the manifestations are manifold. Acute aortic dissection is in 80 % of cases first manifested as sudden extremely severe pain. The diagnostics and subsequent course control can be achieved by a variety of imaging procedures but the modality of choice is computed tomography.

AIM: The aim of this paper was to evaluate the efficacy of a novel 4-F compatible self-expanding Nitinol stent for the treatment of long femoro-popliteal obstructions. METHODS: This retrospective analysis includes patients with femoro-popliteal obstructions ≥ 120 mm in length, treated with a novel Nitinol stent (Pulsar-18) between February 2010 and December 2011. Patients were categorized as either intermittent claudication (IC) or critical limb ischemia (CLI). Primary endpoint was primary patency, secondary endpoints were target lesion revascularization (TLR). RESULTS: A total of 31 patients (IC: N=18 and CLI: N=13) were included in the present series. Mean age was 73.3 ± 10.1 years and 71% (22/31) of the patients were male. Primary intervention was performed in 77.4% (24/31) of the patients and re-do revascularization in the remaining. Mean lesion length of femoro-popliteal obstructions was 163.5 ± 32.5 mm. Technical success was obtained in all patients. Mean follow-up duration was 316 ± 198 days. Primary patency rates were 83.3% in IC and 80.0% in CLI patients at 6 months and 64.1% and 54.9% at 12 months, respectively (P=0.84). Target lesion revascularization occurred in 5.6% of IC and 20.0% of CLI patients at 6 months and in 14.1% and 36.0% at 12 months, respectively (P=0.43). CONCLUSION: Endovascular stenting of long femoro-popliteal lesions using the Pulsar-18 stent provides acceptable results with patency and restenosis rates comparable with data from literature for stenting of long femoro-popliteal obstructions.
