RESUMO

Influence of the quality of the fats used on their utilization in the process of cephalosporin C fermentation and accumulation was studied. A decrease in the level of all the fractions of the fatty acids was observed during the fermentation process. The antibiotic yield with the use of oxidized fats was lower. Treatment of the fats with gaseous nitrogen prevented their oxidation. It was supposed that the decreased yields of the antibiotic were associated with the influence of the oxidized fats on the biosynthetic processes.

RESUMO

The dynamics of cephalosporine C and desacetylcephalosporine C alterations in cultures of Acremonium chrysogenum 309A under different conditions was studied. It was shown expedient to determine the fermantation period by the data of HPLC. Genetic predisposition of the strain used to production of both cephalosporine C and desacetylcephalosporine C is discussed. With changing the cultivation procedure, medium active acidity and cultivation time it is possible to change the biosynthesis pathway.

RESUMO

The mass exchange characteristics of 50 m3 industrial fermentors with aerodynamic foam suppression and the effect of the specific power input on biosynthesis of penicillin were studied. A change in the specific power input from 1.3 to 1.9 kW/m3 had no effect on the level of the antibiotic accumulation when the medium with 8 per cent of lactose was used. An increase in the aeration rate from 1 to 1.2 m3/m3 X min provided a 1.1-fold increase in the penicillin activity of the fermentation broth. The use of the device for aerodynamic foam suppression with a system of automatic control of the partial pressure of dissolved carbon dioxide allowed decreasing 1.22-fold the oil use and increasing the process productivity by 10 per cent.
