RESUMO

Two new genera and three new species of the tribe Trechini belonging to the Nannotrechus complex are described from the Caucasus and Crimea: Paracimmerites capitatus sp. n. from the vicinity of the Gtatshev Pass (Krasnodar Region), Titarenkites obovatus gen. n., sp. n. from the Ofitsari Mountain Ridge (Eastern Mingrelia) and Tauridites yunakovi gen. n., sp. n. from the Stilya-Bogaz Pass (Crimea). New data on the distribution of Paracimmerites nanus Belousov, 1998 are given, and the collecting sites of the two known species of this genus are mapped. The new monotypic genera possess specific combinations of taxonomically important characters which made it necessary to reconsider generic taxa of the complex in question and to update the key to their identification. A parsimony analysis of all described taxa based on the morphological characters revealed that the Crimean genus Tauridites gen. n. is a sister group to the Caucasian Porocimmerites, on the one hand, and the common clade of Cimmerites and Paracimmerites, on the other, while Titarenkites gen. n. is one of the basal taxa of the nannotrechoid lineage with uncertain phylogenetic position. The basal clades of the entire Nannotrechus complex are localized in the Crimea, Western Turkey, and Central Caucasus with adjacent areas of the Western Caucasus, although relationships between these clades have not been reliably resolved based on the morphological characters.

RESUMO

A new genus and new species of carabid beetle, Yalongaphaenops erwini gen. et sp. nov., is described from mountains SW of Mianning City, Sichuan Province, China. This finding, from one side, extends the known distribution of Chinese hypogean trechines, and from another, it raises the upper limit of their vertical distribution to nearly 4000 m. Photographs of the habitus and major taxonomic characters, including the male genitalia, right mandible, and microsculpture patterns of the integument are supplied. The type locality of the new taxon is mapped. Yalongaphaenops gen. nov. shows some similarities with the genus Shiqianaphaenops Tian, 2016 from eastern Guizhou and the genus Boreaphaenops Uéno, 2002 described from Hubei, China. However, the direct relationships of the new genus remain unclear. Further new discoveries of hypogean trechines in Sichuan are necessary to evaluate possible variation of major characters in allied taxa. Although Y. erwini sp. nov. was collected at an elevation exceeding 3800 m a.s.l., it conforms to the upper limit of the forest zone being approximately on par with the vertical distribution of some high altitude hypogean trechine species in other parts of the globe.

RESUMO

The main goal of the present paper is to define the kozlovi-species group of the genus Trechus Clairville, 1806, one of the most species-rich groups of Chinese Trechus and to describe new species of this group from two neighboring areas in Sichuan Province. Description of species groups for Chinese Trechus is a way to get a more consistent view of the taxonomy of this extremely diverse genus. The kozlovi group includes many described species, which are widespread in Qinghai, Gansu and Sichuan provinces. In turn, the group can be split into several subgroups each embracing close allopatric relatives but much more material from various areas of China is required for such detailed classification. In the present work, we describe 9 new Trechus species belonging to this group, all collected in central and southern Sichuan, China: T. suopoensis sp. n. and T. gemaensis sp. n., both from the northern slopes of Mount Gema, E of Danba City, T. bianericus sp. n. and T. maoniu sp. n., both from the nortwestern slopes of the mountain massif located south of Bianer Village, WNW of Danba City, T. shangensis sp. n., T. mengensis sp. n., both from the upper valley of the small river located WSW of the village of Shangmeng, NW of Lixian City, T. cuspis sp. n. from the southern slope of Mount "5200" NW of Lixian City, three latter species from the left bank of the Zagunao River, T. qunlaishanicus sp. n. from the Qunlaishan mountains on the right bank of the Zagunao River and T. chiguguanensis sp.n. from the Chiguguan Pass.

RESUMO

Five new species of the genus Trechus Clairville, 1806 are described from the eastern part of the Tien Shan mountains (China, Xinjiang-Uygur Autonomous Region): T. tsanmensis sp. n. from the Narat Mountain Range, left bank of the Zanma River; T. torgaut sp. n. from the upper course of the Kunges River and Narat Mountain Range (both species belong to the uygur species group, which is defined here); T. aghiazicus sp. n. from the Aghiaz River and Koeksu Basin, T. cratocephalus sp. n. from the Narat Mountain Range (both belong to the micrangulus species group); and T. saluki sp. n. from the mountains S of the Kunges River (belonging to the kashensis species group, also defined in the present paper). Some new data on the distribution of T.uygur Deuve, 1993 and T. kashensis Belousov Kabak, 2001 are given. The distribution of all known species of the uygur and kashensis groups is mapped. An identification key is provided to known species of the uygur group.

RESUMO

Two new species of the tribe Trechini Bonelli, 1810 are described from the Hengduan Mountains in Sichuan and Yunnan provinces, China: Agonotrechus spinangulus sp. n. (from the Kangwu Pass, Liziping Town, Muli County, southern Sichuan) and Sinotrechiama yunnanus sp. n. (from the Xiaobaicaoling Pass, Santai Town, Dayao County, Yunnan). A new collecting site (Yizi Pass between Meigu County and Ebian County, Sichuan) is provided with some data on morphological variation for one more species, Protrechiama crassipes (Uéno, 1997), known so far only from the two female specimens of the type series. These new findings significantly expand our knowledge of the above three genera. Sinotrechiama yunnanus sp. n. is the first member of the genus found outside of Sichuan Province.

RESUMO

Himalotrechus humeratus gen. n., sp. n. is described from the easternmost portion of the Greater Himalaya in the Arunachal Pradesh State of India. The relationships of this new genus within Trechini are discussed based on the relevant characters in external and genital morphology. Himalotrechus gen. n. is likely to be a member of the Epaphiopsis Complex (Deuve et al., 2016).

RESUMO

Two new species of ground beetles of the genus Uenoites Belousov et Kabak, 2016 (tribe Trechini) are described from mountains of northern Myanmar: U. reuteri sp. n., and U. tibialis sp. n.. There are the first members of the genus found outside Yunnan Province of China. The taxonomic position of the new species within the genus is discussed based on the relevant character states in external and genital morphology. Both newly described species are closely related to each other and seem to form a distinct species-group within extremely diverse genus Uenoites. Externally, the newly described species are much more similar to very large members of the genus Queinnectrechus Deuve, 1992, than to most Uenoites but differs in an increased number of elytral setiferous pores in stria 3 and in the presence of the preapical pore.

RESUMO

Puertrechus gen. n., related to both Dactylotrechus and Quiennectrechus Deuve, 1992 is established to accommodate two new trechine species: P. mengsaensis sp. n. (type species of the genus, type locality: Mountains East of Mengsa City, Lincang Prefecture, Yunnan, China) and P. daxueshanicus sp. n. (type locality: Daxueshan Mount, the same prefecture). Likewise, the second species of the genus Dactylotrechus Belousov & Kabak, 2003, D. yalongensis sp. n., is described from the right bank of the Yalong River, SW of Mianing, southern Sichuan, China. This species differs from the only known species of the genus in some important characters including the elytral chaetotaxy and the male genitalia structure. Some adjustments of the genus diagnosis are made to embrace the new species. Keys to species of Dactylotrechus and Puertrechus gen. n. are included and their distribution is mapped. A key is provided to differentiate Puertrechus , Dactylotrechus and Quiennectrechus.

RESUMO

Six new species of the genus Junnanotrechus Uéno & Yin, 1993 are described from Yunnan Province, southern China: J. wrasei sp. n. (from the Diancang Shan Mt. R.), J. triporus sp. n. (from the mountains east of Weishan), J. schuelkei sp. n. (from the Ailao Shan Mountain Range), J. elegantulus sp. n. (from the Daxueshan Mount east of Mengsa Town), J. oblongus sp. n. (from the Daxueshan Mount west of Niutoushan Village), J. koroleviellus sp. n. (from the mountains west of Yunxian Town). New taxa discovered allow a more precise definition of diagnostic characters for the genus. All species were extensively measured and morphometric indices are given. The members of the genus are keyed and their known distribution is mapped. Geographic patterns in transformations of major character states suggest the center of dispersal for members of the genus was, most likely, somewhere in the valley of the Mekong (=Lancang Jiang) River west of the Ailao Shan Mountain Range.
