RESUMO

The pursuit of high-performance electronic devices has driven the research focus toward 2D semiconductors with high electron mobility and suitable band gaps. Previous studies have demonstrated that quasi-2D Bi2O2Se (BOSe) has remarkable physical properties and is a promising candidate for further exploration. Building upon this foundation, the present work introduces a novel concept for achieving nonvolatile and reversible control of BOSe's electronic properties. The approach involves the epitaxial integration of a ferroelectric PbZr0.2Ti0.8O3 (PZT) layer to modify BOSe's band alignment. Within the BOSe/PZT heteroepitaxy, through two opposite ferroelectric polarization states of the PZT layer, we can tune the Fermi level in the BOSe layer. Consequently, this controlled modulation of the electronic structure provides a pathway to manipulate the electrical properties of the BOSe layer and the corresponding devices.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVES: Our group previously found that LINC00665 was upregulated in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) tissues through database analysis; however, the potential molecular mechanism of LINC00665 in HCC progression still needs further study. METHODS: qRTPCR was performed to determine the differential expression of LINC00665 and let-7i in HCC cells. Dual-luciferase reporter assays were performed to analyze the interaction of LINC00665 and let-7i. CCK-8 assays, scratch assays, Transwell invasion assays, qRTPCR and western blotting were performed to determine the regulatory mechanism of LINC00665/let-7i/HMGA1 in HCC cells. RESULTS: LINC00665 was upregulated in HCC cells compared with normal hepatocytes. A potential binding site between LINC00665 and let-7i was confirmed by dual-luciferase reporter assay. In HCC cells, inhibition of LINC00665 significantly reduced cell proliferation, migration and invasion ability via the let-7i/HMGA1 signaling axis. CONCLUSION: LINC00665 promotes the proliferation and invasion of HCC cells via the let-7i/HMGA1 signaling axis.

RESUMO

The construction of multiple continuous fully substituted carbon centers, which serve as unique structural motif in natural products, is a challenging topic in organic synthesis. Herein, we report a hydrated [3+2] cyclotelomerization of butafulvenes to create contiguous fully substituted carbon backbone. In the presence of scandium triflate, all-carbon skeleton with spiro fused tricyclic ring can be constructed in high diastereoselectivity by utilizing butafulvene as the synthon. Mechanistic studies suggest that this atom-economic reaction probably proceeds through a synergistic process containing butafulvenes dimerization and nucleophilic attack by water. In addition, the tricyclic product can undergo a series of synthetic derivatizations, which highlights the potential applications of this strategy. The recyclability of Sc(OTf)3 has also been demonstrated to show its robust performance in this hydrated cyclotelomerization.

RESUMO

Background: Patients with non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) and patients with NSCLC combined with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) have similar physiological conditions in early stages, and the latter have shorter survival times and higher mortality rates. The purpose of this study was to develop and compare machine learning models to identify future diagnoses of COPD combined with NSCLC patients based on the patient's disease and routine clinical data. Methods: Data were obtained from 237 patients with COPD combined with NSCLC as well as NSCLC admitted to Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region People's Hospital from October 2013 to July 2022. Six machine learning algorithms (K-nearest neighbor, logistic regression, eXtreme gradient boosting, support vector machine, naïve Bayes, and artificial neural network) were used to develop prediction models for NSCLC combined with COPD. Sensitivity, specificity, positive predictive value, negative predictive value, accuracy, F1 score, Mathews correlation coefficient (MCC), Kappa, area under the receiver operating characteristic curve (AUROC)and area under the precision-recall curve (AUPRC) were used as performance indicators to evaluate the performance of the models. Results: 135 patients with NSCLC combined with COPD, 102 patients with NSCLC were included in the study. The results showed that pulmonary function and emphysema were important risk factors and that the support vector machine-based identification model showed optimal performance with accuracy:0.946, recall:0.940, specificity:0.955, precision:0.972, npv:0.920, F1 score:0.954, MCC:0.893, Kappa:0.888, AUROC:0.975, AUPRC:0.987. Conclusion: The use of machine learning tools combining clinical symptoms and routine examination data features is suitable for identifying the risk of concurrent NSCLC in COPD patients.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD) is a neuromuscular disease characterised by progressive muscular weakness and atrophy. Currently, studies on DMD muscle function mostly focus on individual muscles; little is known regarding the effect of gluteal muscle group damage on motor function. OBJECTIVE: To explore potential imaging biomarkers of hip and pelvic muscle groups for measuring muscular fat replacement and inflammatory oedema in DMD with multimodal quantitative magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). MATERIALS AND METHODS: One hundred fifty-nine DMD boys and 32 healthy male controls were prospectively included. All subjects underwent MRI examination of the hip and pelvic muscles with T1 mapping, T2 mapping and Dixon sequences. Quantitatively measured parameters included longitudinal relaxation time (T1), transverse relaxation time (T2) and fat fraction. Investigations were all based on hip and pelvic muscle groups covering flexors, extensors, adductors and abductors. The North Star Ambulatory Assessment and stair climbing tests were used to measure motor function in DMD. RESULTS: T1 of the extensors (r = 0.720, P < 0.01), flexors (r = 0.558, P < 0.01) and abductors (r = 0.697, P < 0.001) were positively correlated with the North Star Ambulatory Assessment score. In contrast, T2 of the adductors (r = -0.711, P < 0.01) and fat fraction of the extensors (r = -0.753, P < 0.01) were negatively correlated with the North Star Ambulatory Assessment score. Among them, T1 of the abductors (b = 0.013, t = 2.052, P = 0.042), T2 of the adductors (b = -0.234, t = -2.554, P = 0.012) and fat fraction of the extensors (b = -0.637, t = - 4.096, P < 0.001) significantly affected the North Star Ambulatory Assessment score. Moreover, T1 of the abductors was highly predictive for identifying motor dysfunction in DMD, with an area under the curve of 0.925. CONCLUSION: Magnetic resonance biomarkers of hip and pelvic muscle groups (particularly T1 values of the abductor muscles) have the potential to be used as independent risk factors for motor dysfunction in DMD.

RESUMO

Objective: To measure and analyze the shoulder circumferences of adults' permanent teeth crown preparations based on data collected through the intraoral scanning, so as to provide dental anatomy data for clinical diagnosis and analysis. Methods: Intraoral scanning data of 840 complete crown preparations were collected, and were entrusted to the World Dental Laboratory Co., Ltd. in Fuzhou between March 2021 and June 2022. Except the data of the third molar, the rest data were categorized in terms of 14 tooth positions in the upper and lower jaw (each category involved 30 samples from male group and 30 samples from female group). Image measurement software was used to measure the shoulder circumferences of permanent teeth crown preparations. And analysis was conducted to reveal the difference of shoulder circumference diameters between male and female groups. And then they were grouped according to the mean value at each tooth position, on the premise that the difference between the maximum and minimum values and the mean value of the entire group was≤±1.00 mm. Analysis were further conducted to determine the differences of shoulder circumference diameters between each dental position and the differences between male and female in the same groups. Results: Bivariate analysis of variance showed that gender had no effect on the shoulder circumference of full crown preparations (F=0.55, P=1.457), while tooth position had a significant impact on the shoulder circumference of full crown preparations (F=273.15, P<0.001). The samples were classified into 5 groups according to the mean values of shoulder circumference diameters relating to each tooth position. Statistical analysis showed that Group 1, covering maxillary lateral incisor, mandibular central incisor and mandibular lateral incisor, had shoulder circumference with diameters of (16.62±2.21) mm; Group 2, consisting of maxillary central incisor, maxillary cusp, mandibular cusp, mandibular first premolar and mandibular second premolar, had diameters of (20.78±2.48) mm; Group 3, consisting of maxillary first premolar and maxillary second premolar, had diamerters of (22.09±2.72) mm; Group 4, covering maxillary first molar, maxillary second molar and mandibular first molar, had diamerters of (30.21±2.67) mm; while group 5, with mandibular second molar alone its member, had diamerters of (31.34±3.18) mm. The difference among the 5 groups was statistically significant (P<0.05). Conclusions: Significant differences of shoulder circumference diameters could be found between different tooth positions, while at the same tooth position, the differences between male and female are not significant. The 14 tooth positions could be grouped into 5 groups according to their shoulder circumference diameters. Future research could take the grouping as reference.

RESUMO

Improving the stability of sensitive catalytic systems is an emerging research topic in the catalysis field. However, the current design of heterogeneous catalysts mainly improves their catalytic performance. This paper presents a single-atom catalyst (SAC) strategy to improve the cobalt-catalysed fluorination of acyl chlorides. A stable Co-F intermediate can be formed through the oxidative fluorination of Co1 -N4 @NC SAC, which can replace the unstable high-valent cobalt catalytic system and avoid the use of phosphine ligands. In the SAC system, KF can be employed as a fluorinating reagent to replace the AgF, which can be applied to various substrates and scale-up conversion with high turnover numbers (TON=1.58×106 ). This work also shows that inorganic SACs have tremendous potential for organofluorine chemistry, and it provides a good reference for follow-up studies on the structure-activity relationship between catalyst design and chemical reaction mechanisms.

RESUMO

Metallocenes are privileged backbones for synthesis and catalysis. However, the direct dehydrogenative C-H functionalization of unsymmetric metallocenes suffers from reactivity and selectivity issues. Herein, we report an electrochemically driven regioselective C-H phosphorylation of group 8 metallocenes. Mechanistic investigations indicate this dehydrogenative cross coupling occurs through an electrophilic radical substitution of the metallocene with a phosphoryl radical, facilitated by the metallocene itself. This work not only offers an efficient and divergent synthesis of phosphorylated metallocenes, but also provides a guide to interpret the reactivity and regioselectivity for the C-H functionalization of unsymmetric metallocenes.

RESUMO

The scaling of silicon metal-oxide-semiconductor field-effect transistors has followed Moore's law for decades, but the physical thinning of silicon at sub-ten-nanometre technology nodes introduces issues such as leakage currents1. Two-dimensional (2D) layered semiconductors, with an atomic thickness that allows superior gate-field penetration, are of interest as channel materials for future transistors2,3. However, the integration of high-dielectric-constant (κ) materials with 2D materials, while scaling their capacitance equivalent thickness (CET), has proved challenging. Here we explore transferrable ultrahigh-κ single-crystalline perovskite strontium-titanium-oxide membranes as a gate dielectric for 2D field-effect transistors. Our perovskite membranes exhibit a desirable sub-one-nanometre CET with a low leakage current (less than 10-2 amperes per square centimetre at 2.5 megavolts per centimetre). We find that the van der Waals gap between strontium-titanium-oxide dielectrics and 2D semiconductors mitigates the unfavourable fringing-induced barrier-lowering effect resulting from the use of ultrahigh-κ dielectrics4. Typical short-channel transistors made of scalable molybdenum-disulfide films by chemical vapour deposition and strontium-titanium-oxide dielectrics exhibit steep subthreshold swings down to about 70 millivolts per decade and on/off current ratios up to 107, which matches the low-power specifications suggested by the latest International Roadmap for Devices and Systems5.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: We aimed to explore the lived experiences of informal caregivers for pregnant women seeking scheduled antenatal care during the early stage of China's COVID-19 lockdown and potential measures to address the challenges. DESIGN: This is a phenomenological qualitative study. SETTING: The study was carried out in a leading teaching hospital in Southwest China. PARTICIPANTS: We recruited 15 informal caregivers for healthy pregnant women on routine antenatal visits about six months after China launched the city-wide lockdown and other control measures for COVID-19, including 10 males and 5 females with diverse demographic backgrounds. MEASURES AND FINDINGS: The research team developed a demographic form and an interview outline with key questions, conducted semi-structured interviews with the informal caregivers, and analyzed the data using the Colazzie's method. Five themes of lived experiences were revealed, i.e., increased caregiving burdens, disruption of routines in family life, lack of accurate information and knowledge, active role adjustment, and positive attitudes and coping in a difficult time. Some caregivers reacted positively to the lockdown experience and saw it as an opportunity to rethink their lives and improve family relations. KEY CONCLUSIONS: The informal caregivers experienced increased physical and psychological burdens. Strategies such as adoption of a less frequent prenatal visit schedule, use of tele-medicine technologies, and provision of accurate information and knowledge may help to ease the increased informal caregiving burdens. Psychological counseling, community services and disaster response policies specially targeting pregnant women and their informal caregivers may also be valuable resources. IMPLICATIONS FOR PRACTICE: Attention should be drawn to the group of informal caregivers for pregnant women during a COVID-19 lockdown, including professional assistance delivered by nursing and other related professionals. Measures are called for to minimize exposure opportunities such as adoption of a new prenatal care schedule and tele-medicine technologies. Patient education with reliable information should be provided, preferably by nursing staff and physicians. Social support efforts including professional mental counseling may added and work with other resources such as community services and policy makers.

RESUMO

AIM: To observe the best-corrected visual acuity (BCVA) and central foveal thickness (CFT) repeatedly after the intravitreal injection of conbercept (IVC) for treating cystoid macular edema (CME) in branch retinal vein occlusion (BRVO) and explore the relationship between the duration of CME and visual outcome. METHODS: Subgroup analysis was performed to compare short-term (within 90d of CME onset) and long-term (over 90d of CME onset) macular edema in BRVO. After an initial IVC, a pro re nata (PRN) strategy was performed according to the recurrence of CFT or decrease of BCVA. Analysis of variance using repeated measurements, statistical analysis following indicators including BCVA and CFT collected at baseline and 1, 3, and 6mo after IVC. RESULTS: Among the 60 cases included in this retrospective study, 36 were short-term CME, and 24 were long-term CME. There were statistical significances between and within groups of the BCVAs at different time points (P<0.001). The interaction was found between group and time (P=0.006), indicating the difference in the speed of BCVA improvement between groups. In particular, the improvement speed of BCVA in the short-term CME group was faster than that in the long-term CME group. There were significant differences between and with groups of the CFT at different time points (P<0.001). However, the interaction between group and time in relation to CFT had no significant differences (P=0.59). CONCLUSION: IVC treatment for CME following BRVO is effective and safe. The duration of CME before treatment is a significant predictor of the visual outcomes of patients with BRVO. The improvement of vision might be faster with early IVC treatment than with delayed treatment.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: To investigate the protective efficacy of Bushen Culuan decoction (BCD) on ovarian follicle and follicular granulosa cells in mice with premature ovarian insufficiency (POI) induced by tripterygium wilfordii polyglycoside, and to study the potential mechanism underlying the action. METHODS: Eighty female Balb/c mice were randomly divided into 4 groups (n = 20 each): blank group, model group, Bushen Culuan decoction intervening group (BCD group) and estradiol valerate intervening group (EV group). In the first 14 model establishing d, mice in model group, BCD group and EV group were under Tripterygium wilfordii polyglycoside (TWP) gavage to establish POI models. In the 14-day therapeutic stage, mice in BCD group were taken BCD 18.35 mg·kg-1d-1, mice in EV group were taken EV solution 0.15 mg·kg-1d-1, while mice in blank group and model group were taken normal saline. When the mice accomplished therapy, whole blood was collected for serum hormone including follicle stimulating hormone (FSH), luteal hormone (LH), estradiol (E2), antimullerian hormone (AMH) levels and vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF), bone morphogenetic protein-7 (BMP-7) measurement. Ovarian tissues were harvested for morphologic observation, follicle counting, ovarian follicular graulosa cell apoptosis test and testing BMP-7 and caspase-3 expressions. RESULTS: The body weights of the mice kept growing stably in the process expect in TWP intervening stage. Compared with model group, BCD group had significantly higher ovarian index, serum E2, AMH, VEGF, BMP-7 levels and significantly lower FSH level (P < 0.05). Meanwhile the VEGF level in BCD group was higher than in EV group (P < 0.05). Compared with model group, the histopathological damage and GCs apoptosis were mitigated; developing follicle counting, BMP-7 expression were up-regulated, and caspase-3 expression was downregulated in BCD groups (P < 0.05). CONCLUSION: BCD treatment could attenuate pathological process in POI ovaries, suppress GC apoptosis, probably through promoting BMP-7 expression and following inhibiting caspase-3 activation.

RESUMO

Epidemiological studies have demonstrated that the genetic factors partly influence the development of same-sex sexual behavior, but most genetic studies have focused on people of primarily European ancestry, potentially missing important biological insights. Here, we performed a two-stage genome-wide association study (GWAS) with a total sample of 1478 homosexual males and 3313 heterosexual males in Han Chinese populations and identified two genetic loci (rs17320865, Xq27.3, FMR1NB, Pmeta = 8.36 × 10-8, OR = 1.29; rs7259428, 19q12, ZNF536, Pmeta = 7.58 × 10-8, OR = 0.75) showing consistent association with male sexual orientation. A fixed-effect meta-analysis including individuals of Han Chinese (n = 4791) and European ancestries (n = 408,995) revealed 3 genome-wide significant loci of same-sex sexual behavior (rs9677294, 2p22.1, SLC8A1, Pmeta = 1.95 × 10-8; rs2414487, 15q21.3, LOC145783, Pmeta = 4.53 × 10-9; rs2106525, 7q31.1, MDFIC, Pmeta = 6.24 × 10-9). These findings may provide new insights into the genetic basis of male sexual orientation from a wider population scope. Furthermore, we defined the average ZNF536-immunoreactivity (ZNF536-ir) concentration in the suprachiasmatic nucleus (SCN) as lower in homosexual individuals than in heterosexual individuals (0.011 ± 0.001 vs 0.021 ± 0.004, P = 0.013) in a postmortem study. In addition, compared with heterosexuals, the percentage of ZNF536 stained area in the SCN was also smaller in the homosexuals (0.075 ± 0.040 vs 0.137 ± 0.103, P = 0.043). More homosexual preference was observed in FMR1NB-knockout mice and we also found significant differences in the expression of serotonin, dopamine, and inflammation pathways that were reported to be related to sexual orientation when comparing CRISPR-mediated FMR1NB knockout mice to matched wild-type target C57 male mice.

RESUMO

High-temperature superconductive (SC) cuprates exhibit not only a SC phase, but also competing orders, suppressing superconductivity. Charge order (CO) has been recognized as an important competing order, but its microscopic spatial interplay with SC phase as well as the interlayer coupling in CO and SC phases remain elusive, despite being essential for understanding the physical mechanisms of competing orders and hence superconductivity. Here we report the achievement of direct real-space imaging with atomic-scale resolution of cryogenically cleaved YBa2Cu3O6.81 using cross-sectional scanning tunneling microscopy/spectroscopy. CO nanodomains are found embedded in the SC phase with a proximity-like boundary region characterized by mutual suppression of CO and superconductivity. Furthermore, SC coherence as well as CO occur on both CuO chain and plane layers, revealing carrier transport and density of states mixing between layers. The CO antiphase correlation along the c direction suggests a dominance of Coulomb repulsion over Josephson tunneling between adjacent layers.

RESUMO

Objective To understand the prevalence of soil-transmitted nematode infections in Yancheng City from 2016 to 2020, so as to provide insights into the development of the scheme for further soil-transmitted nematodiasis surveillance. Methods Soil-borne nematode infections were detected using the modified Kato-Katz method (two slides for one sample) among the permanent residents living in Yancheng City from 2016 to 2020, and Enterobius vermicularis infection was additionally detected among children at ages of 12 years and lower using the adhesive cellophane-tape perianal swab method. The prevalence and intensity of human soil-borne nematode and E. vermicularis infections were descriptively analyzed. Results A total of 51 259 person-time residents were detected for soil-borne nematode infections in Yancheng City from 2016 to 2020, and 48 egg-positives were identified, with a 0.09% prevalence. The soil-borne nematodes infecting residents included Ascaris lumbricoides, hookworm and Trichuris trichiura, with 0.04%, 0.05% and 0.002% prevalence rates of infections, and all infections were mild. There was a region-specific prevalence of soil-borne nematode infections in Yancheng City (χ2 = 18.21, P = 0.02), with the highest prevalence seen in Funing County (0.21%), while no infections were detected in Dafeng District for five successive years. The overall prevalence of E. vermicularis infections was 0.22% among children at ages of 12 years and lower in Yancheng City. Conclusions The prevalence of soil-borne nematode infections appears a gradual decline in residents living in Yancheng City from 2016 to 2020, and is at an extremely low level. Further surveillance of soil-transmitted nematodiasis requires to be intensified targeting key regions and populations to consolidate the control achievements.
