[Preventive orientation in caries treatment].

Based upon the analysis of 310 dental status assessment forms from 5 regions of Russia there were disclosed data on oral hygiene index, oral hygiene education, controllable cleaning procedure, professional hygiene, recommendations to clean oral cavity, regimen of nutrition and secondary visit terms. It was established that delivered treatment not in the fool corresponded with the protocol of patient treatment "Dental Caries" confirmed by Russian Deputy Minister of Health and Social Care 17 October 2006.

Discussing the problems of caries resistance and caries susceptibility, we should remember that normal status of dental enamel is maintained by the dynamic equilibrium between demineralization and remineralization processes. Some aspects in the structural resistance of the enamel, determined by its maturing, are discussed. Data on the role of oral factors reflecting the status of the organism are presented. The authors do not agree that caries resistance, which is permanent throughout life, is determined by the CDL index. They give their arguments in favor of introducing the notion of "caries risk" and the criteria for evaluating this risk.

The purpose of the study was to develop the optimal variant of using remineralizing solutions to improve dental enamel resistance; for this the efficacies of 10% Ca gluconate solution, 1% Na fluoride solution, and 3% remodent solution were examined. These solutions were found to promote a sooner 'maturation' of the enamel than is natural and to improve caries resistance of the enamel.

The authors analyze the functional value of pulpless teeth. A pulpless tooth retains its structure, shape, and function for a long time and, in authors' opinion, effectively performs.

[The efficacy of preventing dental caries in persons with an increased consumption of refined carbohydrates]. / Effektivnost' profilaktiki kariesa zubov u lits s povyshennym potrebleniem rafinirovannykh uglevodov.

The status of the oral cavity (dental caries and periodontal diseases detection) was examined in confectioners. Salivary excretion type was found changed, this shift being explained by more intensive caries and periodontitis. Prophylactic measures helped reduce caries morbidity in this population.

[The anaphylactic autosensitization of patients with periodontitis]. / Issledovanie anafilakticheskoi autosensibilizatsii bol'nykh s parodontitom.

Histamine release from basophilic leukocytes under the effect of autoantigens isolated from involved gingival tissue was examined in periodontitis patients and normal subjects. Anaphylactic autosensitivity was found to be increased in this condition. The results evidence the advisability of antianaphylactic agents administration to patients with periodontitis exacerbations.

[Pathogenetic mechanisms in the treatment of periodontitis using xenogeneic peritoneum]. / Nekotorye patogeneticheskie mekhanizmy lecheniia parodontita s primeneniem ksenogennoi briushiny.

Water-free cattle parietal peritoneum was used in surgical treatment of 62 patients with severe periodontitis. Use of xenoperitoneum in multiple-modality treatment of periodontitis was conducive to bone tissue regeneration in bone pockets, to a more rapid recovery of gingival temperature round incisors and molars.

[The use of lysoamidase for treating complications of caries and diseases of the periodontium and oral mucosa]. / Primenenie lizoamidazy dlia lecheniia oslozhnenii kariesa, zabolevanii parodonta i slizistoi obolochki polosti rta.

Antibacterial and proteolytic enzyme lysoamidase was used to treat periodontitis and a range of diseases of oral mucosa. The results displayed its major advantages over trypsin and allowed us to recommend it as an effective means of local treatment in the combined therapy of these disorders.

Clinico-laboratory investigation of 61 intact teeth and 61 teeth after pulp extraction was performed, including in vivo acid enamel biopsy and intravital staining with 2% methylene blue solution. The regularities were established governing Ca and P efflux from superficial enamel layer of intact and pulp-extracted teeth into the acid solution with respect to age, group of the tooth and pulp extraction terms. The pulp extraction factor was investigated with special reference to the tooth acid resistance and its remineralization rate.

X-ray spectral microanalysis was applied to study Ca and P contents in superficial, intermedial and deep enamelum zones in 15 human teeth with different fluorosis manifestations which were extracted for orthodontic purposes. In 3rd grade fluorosis, detected were a statistically reliable decrease in Ca content in enamelum superficial zone and a tendency of its depleting in deep zones. Ca/P ratio was also lowered that indicated mineralization impairment in solid tissues of the teeth. This should affect the choice of the technique of therapy and prevention of different manifestations of teeth fluorosis.
