RESUMO

As part of lesion sterilization and tissue restoration (LSTR), treatment for primary molars affected by extensive periapical pathosis and extreme resorption entails the use of a triple antibiotic mixture in an appropriate medium. In-depth explanation of all components of LSTR is the main focus of this review of the literature.

RESUMO

Rehabilitation of completely edentulous patients with implant becomes challenging due to reduced amount of bone available and pneumatisation of maxillary sinus or both. To successfully treat such patients, prior to implant placement, patient has to undergo invasive procedures like sinus lift and/or bone augmentation which is not possible many time due to many reasons. This article focuses on an alternative treatment procedure in which two posterior implants are placed at an angle and two anterior implants are placed axially thereby eliminating the need for sinus lift or bone augmentation procedures. This article broadly discusses this "All on Four" concept in all aspects, its effects on bone, prosthesis survival, forces acting etc along with various related studies.

RESUMO

AIM: The aim of the study was to evaluate and compare sorption, solubility and microhardness of heat cure polymethylmethacrylate (PMMA) denture base resin and flexible (thermoplastic polyamide nylon) denture base resin. MATERIALS AND METHODS: Sorption, solubility and microhardness were assessed to determine compliance with ADA Specification no. 12. RESULTs were assessed using statistical and observational analyses. RESULT: All materials satisfied ADA requirements for sorption, solubility and microhardness. Heat cure PMMA showed more sorption, solubility and microhardness than flexible (thermoplastic polyamide nylon). CONCLUSION: Flexible (thermoplastic polyamide nylon) resin absorbs less water, is less soluble and is more flexible than PMMA.

AIM: The aim of this study was to compare effect of different metal coping designs on fracture resistance of porcelain in metal ceramic restorations. MATERIALS AND METHODS: Fracture resistance of porcelain was assessed in porcelain fused to metal crowns with three different coping designs i.e. metal coping extension on labial surface upto gingivoaxial line angle, metal coping extension 1mm short of the gingivoaxial line angle and metal coping with 0.4mm wide labial metal collar. For crowns without labial metal collar margin; shoulder porcelain was used to build the labial cervical margin of the crowns. RESULTS: RESULTS were assessed with statistical analysis using the student unpaired't' test. Visual examination of the fractured specimens of group A, B and C showed remarkably similar failure modes with nearly all specimens failing through a shear fracture of porcelain from load point to facial margin of the crown. CONCLUSION: Within the scope of this study, it was observed that the mean facture strength of the samples with shoulder porcelain labial margins having metal coping design extending upto gingivoaxial line angle of the finish line was highest as compared to samples with shoulder porcelain labial margins having metal coping design 1mm short of gingivoaxial line angle & samples having porcelain fused to metal coping design with 0.4mm wide metal collar.
