We present a 250 ps molecular dynamics simulation of the T-antigen Gal beta(1-3)GalNAc and its isomer Gal beta(1-3)GlcNAc in the classic Gibbs Ensemble, Number of particles, Pressure and Temperature (NPT) with explicit representation of 432 water molecules. We computed the radial distribution function, equilibrium conformation, intramolecular and intermolecular hydrogen bonds, and water residence time to characterize the hydration pattern of these sugars, which are not very different and exhibit hydrophilic behavior. Based on hydration dynamics, it was concluded that these sugars should be classified as negative hydrated. Formation of an intramolecular hydrogen bond between the ring oxygen atom O5 of the first unit and the OH4' group of glycoside of the second unit might influence interaction with the antigenic receptor and could explain the main difference of affinities between them.

We present a molecular dynamics simulation of xylitol in SPC/E water using classical Gibbs ensemble molecular dynamics simulation. The simulation is done both with and without periodic charge update, and no qualitative difference in the results obtained by both methods is found. The analysis of the radial and angular distribution functions, the water-water hydrogen bond distributions, and water residence times allow the conclusion that there is a relatively strong hydration of xylitol. This polyol adopts a single linear conformation and, from the point of view of the hydration dynamics, it should be classified as positively hydrated.

A prophylaxis with a minidose of BCG Vaccine (1 mgr.) is performed in vesical instillation during one year, to 108 patients bearing bladder cancer in the stage T1. In the first month the instillations are once a week, each fifteen days the second and third month and then, once a month for one year. An 19.4% of recurrences is obtained with an general average observation time of 37.3 months as well as an important increase of muster populations of T lymphocytes and a positive test of dinitroclorobenzene. As complications we have obtained an inguinal BCG adenitis and in a few cases disury and frequency for two or three days. We conclude that the doses of the BCG vaccine used during the period of one year, is satisfactory in the reduction of recurrences and without important complications.

We analyzed 33 patients with recurring nodular goiter (from a population of 2,500 operated patients). Recurrence occurred 0.7 to 12 years after surgery. T4, T3, TSH, perchlorate and TRH tests were performed in 18. Results were similar to those in 13 operated patients without recurrence. Administration of thyroid hormone did not influence recurrence. Seven patients with recurring goiter were re-operated on; an encapsulated follicular cancer was found in one. Our results suggest that recurrence of nodular goiter after surgery is not prevented by routine use of thyroid hormone.

Two patients receiving substitution therapy for Sheehan syndrome became pregnant. No pituitary trophins, except LH responded to stimulation with the hypothalamic hormones TRH and Gn-Rh, or insulin induced hypoglycemia. Computed tomography showed a normal size sella with arachnoid cyst.

El acido triyodotiroacetico no es un anorexigeno sino que un metabolito de las hormonas tiroideas que tiene una accion equivalente al 10% de la que ostentan la tiroxina y la triyodotironina. Se le ha preconizado en el tratamiento de la obesidad debido a su efecto lipolitico periferico residual y pese a que hay consenso entre la gran mayoria de los autores, en estimar que las hormonas tiroideas, sus analogos y sus metabolitos practicamente no tienen ningun lugar en el tratamiento de la obesidad en sus diversas formas fisiopatologicas y clinicas
