RESUMO

SULF1 has been implicated in a number of malignancies. The function of SULF1 in gastric cancer is disputed. The objective of this study was to examine the role and underlying molecular mechanisms of SULF1 in the context of gastric cancer. We found that the expression of SULF1 was increased in gastric cancer, especially in cancer-associated fibroblasts. The overexpression of SULF1 was found to be significantly correlated with unfavorable prognosis among individuals diagnosed with gastric cancer. Functionally, cancer-associated fibroblasts-derived SULF1 served as a oncogenic molecule which facilitated gastric cancer cells metastasis and CDDP resistance. Mechanistically, SULF1 regulated the communication between gastric cancer cells and cancer-associated fibroblasts in tumor microenvironment as a signaling molecule. Cancer-associated fibroblasts-secreted SULF1 interfered with the interaction between TGF-ß1 and TGFBR3 by combining with TGFBR3 on gastric cancer cell membrane, subsequently activated TGF-ß signaling pathway. In conclusion, our findings have presented novel approaches for potential treatment and prognosis prediction in individuals diagnosed with gastric cancer through the targeting of the CAFs-SULF1-TGFBR3-TGF-ß1 signaling axis.

RESUMO

Assembling graphene oxide nanoribbons (GONRs) into three-dimensional (3D) materials with controllable and desired structure is an effective way to expand their structural features and enable their practical applications. In this work, an ultralight 3D porous amidoxime functionalized graphene oxide nanoribbons aerogel (PAO/GONRs-A) was prepared via solvothermal polymerization method using acrylonitrile as monomer and GONRs as solid matrices for selective separation of uranium(VI) from water samples. The PAO/GONRs-A possessed a high nitrogen content (13.5%), low density (8.5 mg cm-3), and large specific surface area (494.9 m2 g-1), and presented an excellent high adsorption capacity of uranium, with a maximum capacity of 2.475 mmol g-1 at a pH of 4.5, and maximum uranium-selectivity of 65.23% at a pH of 3.0. The results of adsorption experiments showed that U(VI) adsorption on PAO/GONRs-A was a pH-dependent, spontaneous and endothermic process, which was better fitted to the pseudo-second-order kinetic model and Langmuir isotherm model. Both X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) and density functional theory (DFT) calculations revealed that U(VI) adsorption on PAO/GONRs-A mainly did rely on the amidoxime groups anchored on the aerogel while UO2(PAO)2(H2O)3 was dominant after interaction of uranyl with PAO/GONRs-A. Therefore, as a candidate adsorbent, PAO/GONRs-A has a high potential for the removal of uranium from aqueous solutions.

RESUMO

Polycrystalline BiFeO3 nanoparticles (size 30-50 nm) were prepared by a simple microwave synthesis technique. The nanoparticles were characterized by XRD, TEM and TG-DTA. The applied experiments show that they are very efficient for photo-catalytic decomposition of organic contaminants under irradiation ultraviolet frequency. The as-obtained BiFeO3 nanoparticles also demonstrate strong ferromagnetism of about 0.045 microB/Fe at room temperature, which is in good agreement with theoretical calculations.

RESUMO

By introducing octyloxy to C-3 and alkyl groups to C-8 of jatrorrhizine, a series of 3-octyloxy-8-alkyljatrorrhizine derivatives were synthesized and their antimicrobial activities were evaluated in vitro. The results indicated that the derivatives exhibited high antimicrobial activities, especially against Gram-positive bacteria. The 3-octyloxy-8-butyljatrorrhizine displayed the highest antimicrobial activity in all compounds. Their structure-activity relationships were discussed.

RESUMO

The compounds 3-ethoxy- ( 2), 3-butoxy- ( 3), 3-hexyloxy- ( 4), 3-octyloxy- ( 5), 3-decyloxy- ( 6) and 3-dodecyloxyjatrorrhizine chlorides ( 7) were synthesized and tested for their antimicrobial activity in vitro to evaluate structure-activity relationships. Substitution of the H with alkyl groups at C-3-OH led to significant changes in the antimicrobial activity. The antimicrobial activity of the substituted derivatives was 32 - 1000 times higher than that of jatorrhizine ( 1), which increased as the aliphatic chain was elongated and then decreased slightly when the alkyl chain exceeded eight carbon atoms. 3-Octyloxyjatrorrhizine ( 5) displayed the highest antimicrobial activity of all compounds. The LD (50) values of compounds 1 - 7 were more than 6000 mg/kg body weight, showing a low toxicity. The toxicities of compounds 2 - 7 were slightly lower than that of ( 1).

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: An intrinsically colored machinable glass-ceramic containing tetrasilicic fluormica as the predominant crystal phase was studied, which was used in molar crown in dental CAD/CAM system. METHODS: Orthogonal design analysis was used to select appropriate base formula, coloration and heat treatment process. RESULTS: Factors influencing the color appearance of mica glass ceramic were nucleation agent and the ratio of Mg(2+) to K(+) in base formula; Cerium oxide (CeO(2)) was used as the main coloration; The preferred heat treatment was 650 degrees C for 1 h and 1,000 degrees C or 1,050 degrees C for 3 h - 4 h. CONCLUSIONS: This mica glass-ceramic could provide 4 to 5 color appearance for dental use, it showed excellent machinability which was eminently suitable for use in dental CAD/CAM system.
