RESUMO

A 60-year-old black man, working in construction sector, was referred to dermatology clinic for having multiple hardened and asymptomatic tumors on the scalp, face, and trunk for more than 40 years. There was a progressive increase in the number and size of lesions, causing significant aesthetic and functional impairment. In his family history, a son had numerous normochromic papules on the centrofacial region with a diagnosis of multiple trichoepithelioma. The deceased mother of our patient presented lesions similar to those of her grandson but without a confirmatory diagnosis. (SKINmed. 2023;21:47-50).

RESUMO

Abstract Squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) is the second-most common malignant cutaneous cancer, with 60% occurring in the head and neck region. Metastases are uncommon and imply a more conservative prognosis. This report describes a case of parotid-invasive, facial squamous cell carcinoma, highlighting the importance of its prognostic and therapeutic management. The patient is an 81-year-old female, exhibiting extensive tumoral lesions in the pre-auricular region, affecting the parotid parenchyma and implying the metastatic involvement of the intra-parotid lymph node. Parotid involvement caused by SCC in specificity tumors is discussed herein. Parotid invasion is currently recognized as an isolated variable. It affects survival rates and determines certain changes in case management, such as the broadening of resection areas and adjuvant radiotherapy.

RESUMO

Hepatitis C virus (HCV) chronically infects 0.5-3% of the world population. A large group of patients develop cirrhosis and its complications. Since 2011, telaprevir and boceprevir are used, improving the disease evolution. One of the main side effects of these drugs is skin eruption. We report a 53-year-old patient with cirrhosis due to HCV who started the classic treatment associated with telaprevir. In the ninth week, he presented a severe rash that required the interruption of this drug. We emphasize the importance of early recognition and appropriate management of adverse skin reaction.

Alveolar adenoma is a rare benign neoplasm of the lungs, and very few cases have been described in the literature. Patients with alveolar adenoma are frequently asymptomatic and are diagnosed through the accidental discovery of a singular, well-delineated nodule on a routine chest X-ray. The definitive diagnosis is made histologically, and the treatment consists of surgical resection of the nodule.

Hyalinizing granulomas are benign fibrotic lesions that generally present multiple nodules seen on radiological examinations, which are frequently cavitary and/or calcified lesions. We report a case of a 28 year-old-woman with hyalinizing granulomas probably secondary to a previous tuberculosis infection. Hyalinizing granulomas should be included in the differential diagnosis of patients with multiple pulmonary nodules.
