RESUMO

Background: The relationship between the maxillary sinus (MS) and the root apices of posterior teeth is of significant clinical relevance as it influences the diagnosis and treatment planning when operating in the posterior areas of the maxilla. The aim of this study, therefore, is to assess this anatomic relationship and evaluate the propensity of roots of posterior maxillary teeth to be intruded into the MS space using cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT) scanning. Materials and Methods: One thousand CBCT scans of patients, aged 20 years or above, were analyzed in the study. The distance from the MS floor to the root apices of the posterior teeth was measured and the relationship between the MS and the posterior teeth roots were recorded, based on Kwak's and Didilescu's classification. Results: Based on Kwak's classification, type I configuration was frequently observed in the maxillary posterior teeth, followed by type II. Based on Didilescu's classification, the longest distance, among premolars, was observed between the palatal root of the left 1st premolar and MS, i.e., 8.2467 mm. Among molars, the longest distance was observed between mesiobuccal root of the right first molar and MS, i.e., 5.8966 mm. The shortest distance, among premolars, was observed between the buccal root of the left second premolar and MS, i.e., 3.5500 mm, and among molars, the shortest distance was between the mesiobuccal root of the left second molar and MS, i.e., 1.3556 mm. Conclusion: From the present study, it may be concluded that, among the central Indian population, mesiobuccal root of the second molars and buccal root of the second premolars show the closest proximity to the MS floor. Therefore, any surgical or endodontic intervention in the vicinity of these roots must be performed with utmost care.

RESUMO

SARS-CoV-2 and its variants cause serious health concerns throughout the world. The alarming increase in the daily number of cases has become a nightmare in many low-income countries; although some vaccines are available, their high cost and low vaccine production make them unreachable to ordinary people in developing countries. Other treatment strategies are required for novel therapeutic options. The peptide-based drug is one of the alternatives with low toxicity, more specificity, and ease of synthesis. Herein, we have applied structure-based virtual screening to identify potential peptides targeting the critical proteins of SARS-CoV-2. Non-toxic natural antiviral peptides were selected from the enormous number of peptides. Comparative modeling was applied to prepare a 3D structure of selected peptides. 3D models of the peptides were docked using the ClusPro docking server to determine their binding affinity and peptide-protein interaction. The high-scoring peptides were docked with other crucial proteins to analyze multiple targeting peptides. The two best peptides were subjected to MD simulations to validate the structure stability and evaluated RMSD, RMSF, Rg, SASA, and H-bonding from the trajectory analysis of 100 ns. The proposed lead peptides can be used as a broad-spectrum drug and potentially develop as a therapeutic to combat SARS-CoV-2, positively impacting the current pandemic. RESUMO

It's a saying "The early we start, the early we attain good health". Health is a state of complete physical, mental and social well-being and not merely absence of disease Fitness is an ability to execute daily functional activities with optimal performance, endurance, and strength to manage minimalist of disease, fatigue, stress and reduced sedentary behavior. In the modern era with advancement in technology, erosion of physical activity has drastically led to retardation in health and fitness. Hoods of luxurious and competition among students for scores/grades and professionals for promotions/incentives/benefits have deviated people from concentrating towards their health and putting it secondary. In 2016, across the globe, prevalence of physical inactivity was estimated at 27.5%, among adult population. To support further, in June 2018, WHO reported, 1 in five adults, and 4 of five adolescents to pose reduced physical activity. In the current ongoing pandemic era this scenario has been further negatively impacting the society to suffer from psychosocial, financial and economic loss, contributing to lack of physical activity. Health benefits of physical activity are not limited only to improved cardiorespiratory and muscular fitness, bone and cardiometabolic health, and positive effects on weight status, but it also boosts mental health and social health. Acknowledging the significance and urgency of decreasing insufficient physical activity globally, WHO endorsed a Global Action Plan on Physical Activity (GAPPA) at the World Health Assembly in 2018, wherein the member countries agreed to reach a new target of 15% relative reduction in insufficient physical activity among adolescents by 2030.

RESUMO

Vaginal wall leiomyomas are rare. They are typically located in the anterior or lateral wall of the vagina. We report a case of a posterior vaginal leiomyoma which was mistaken for a cervical fibroma. Despite several examinations and biopsies to rule out a potential malignant condition, the diagnosis was delayed. Whenever there is a clinical suspicion of a vaginal leiomyoma, magnetic resonance imaging or translabial ultrasound are the recommended imaging modalities.
