RESUMO

Objective: To explore the effects of online mental health promotion intervention consisting of popular science articles and short videos on the level of mental health literacy (MHL), the MHL competency rate, and depression and anxiety levels of local residents. Methods: Local residents in Shanghai were recruited for the study and assigned to a control group ( n=53) and a study group ( n=53) with a random number table. The study group participated in a 12-session mental health promotion intervention program that was carried out over the course of 4 weeks, while the control group did not receive any intervention. The subjects were assessed for their MHL, depression and anxiety by questionnaire surveys at the baseline (T1), after intervention (T2), and three months after intervention (T3). Results: At T2, there was significant difference in the rate of MHL competency between the study group (43.40%) and the control group (18.87%) ( P=0.006). There was no significant difference between the two groups at T1 ( P=0.787) or T3 ( P=0.840). The results of repeated measures analysis of variance of the total score of the MHL Questionnaire showed that the interaction effect was statistically significant ( F=9.708, P<0.001), the simple effect of grouping was statistically significant at T2 ( F=10.935, P=0.001), and the total score of MHL of the study group (134.321±20.123) was significantly higher than that of the control group (123.811±20.224) for the corresponding point of time. The simple effect of time in the study group was statistically significant ( F=23.233, P<0.001). The subjects in the study group scored significantly higher at T2 and T3 than they did at T1, or the baseline ( P<0.001). There was no significant difference between the T2 and the T3 scores ( P=0.847). Conclusion: The 12-session online mental health promotion intervention can effectively improve the subjects' MHL level and the rate of MHL competency immediately after the invention was completed, and the effect endures 3 months after intervention.

RESUMO

The aim of this study was to understand the effect of deep vertical rotary tillage on the diversity and structural distribution of a soil bacterial community in cultivated land, as well as the interactions between microbial ecological molecular network and species. In this study, the cultivated soil under different tillage methods in the Yellow River diversion irrigation area in Ningxia was selected as the research object, and two treatments were set up, namely, deep vertical rotary tillage (DVRT) and conventional tillage (CT). Then, Illumina MiSeq technology was used to analyze the molecular ecological network of soil bacterial community under different tillage methods in the Ningxia Yellow River irrigation area. The results showed that DVRT significantly increased the contents of total organic carbon (TOC), total nitrogen (TN), alkali-hydrolyzed nitrogen (AN), total phosphorus (TP), available phosphorus (AP), and total potassium (TK) in the 0-20 cm soil layer compared with those in the CT treatment. Compared with those in the CT treatment, DVRT significantly increased the contents of TOC, TN, TP, AP, TK, and available potassium (AK) in the 20-40 cm soil layer. DVRT treatment significantly increased water content (WC) by 8.13%-13.30% and decreased pH and electrical conductivity (EC) by 4.51%-5.85% and 12.5%-13.33%, respectively. In different growth stages and soil layers of maize, the Shannon and Ace indices were increased in the DVRT treatments. The dominant bacterial phyla were:Actinobacteria, Proteobacteria, Chloroflexi, Acidobacteriota, and Gemmatimonadota. The results of bacterial community ß diversity showed that DVRT and CT had significant differences in bacterial community structure. The redundancy analysis and Partial Mantel test results showed that pH, EC, and TP were the key environmental factors affecting the structural diversity of bacterial communities. Molecular ecological network analysis revealed that DVRT treatment microbial networks consisted of more functionally related microbial modules, and the topological roles of key microorganisms were different from those in the CT treatment. In conclusion, DVRT can enhance soil nutrients and WC in different soil layers, reduce pH and EC, improve soil bacterial community diversity and microbial network structure, and also enhance the potential ecosystem functions in cultivated soil.

RESUMO

PURPOSE: To compare laser peripheral iridotomy (LPI) with trabeculectomy as an initial treatment for primary angle-closure glaucoma (PACG) with peripheral anterior synechiae (PAS) ≥ 6 clock hours. METHODS: Patients were drawn from two randomized controlled trials. 38 eyes of 38 patients (PAS ≥ 6 clock hours) were treated with LPI (group 1) while 111 eyes of 111 PACG patients (PAS ≥ 6 clock hours) underwent primary trabeculectomy (group 2). All patients underwent a comprehensive ophthalmic examination at baseline and at postoperative visits and were followed up for a minimum of one year. RESULTS: Group 2 had higher baseline IOP (45.7 ± 14.8 mmHg versus 34.3 ± 14.3 mmHg) than group 1 and more clock hours of PAS (10.4 ± 1.9 versus 9.0 ± 2.2). IOPs at all postoperative visits were significantly lower in group 2 than in group 1 (p = 0.000). Five eyes in group 1 required trabeculectomy. 17 of the 38 eyes in group 1 (44.7%) required IOP-lowering medications as compared to seven of the 111 eyes in group 2 (6.3%). Cataract progression was documented in 2 eyes (5.3%) in group 1 and 16 eyes (14.4%) in group 2. CONCLUSIONS: Primary trabeculectomy for PACG (PAS ≥ 6 clock hours) is more effective than LPI in lowering IOP.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Many studies indicated that short-term and long-term intraocular pressure (IOP) fluctuations in primary open angle glaucoma patients might lead to glaucomatous progression. However, seldom study has evaluated the long-term fluctuation of IOP in primary chronic angle closure diseases. The objective of this study was to investigate the long-term IOP fluctuation of primary angle closure diseases and its associations following laser peripheral iridotomy (LPI) with or without laser peripheral iridoplasty. METHODS: A total of 158 patients with primary angle closure suspect (PACS, n = 21), primary angle closure (PAC, n = 81) and primary angle closure glaucoma (PACG, n = 55) had been treated by LPI with or without laser peripheral iridoplasty and followed up for more than 12 months. IOP was measured with Goldman applanation tonometer. Multivariate linear regression with generalized estimating equation (GEE) regression models was used to evaluate the association of long-term IOP fluctuation (maximum IOP minus minimum IOP) with gender, age, baseline IOP, baseline peripheral anterior synechia (PAS), baseline vertical cup/disc ratio (VCDR), baseline mean deviation (MD), need for IOP-lowering medications. RESULTS: IOP fluctuation during follow-up in PACS, PAC and PACG groups were (4.83 ± 2.90), (5.67 ± 3.35), and (9.40 ± 7.14) mmHg, respectively. IOP fluctuation was strongly correlated with baseline IOP (r = 0.356, P < 0.001), PAS (r = 0.374, P < 0.001). IOP fluctuation was higher in patients with higher baseline IOP (0.18 mmHg per unit increase, 95%CI: 0.05 - 0.31 mmHg). CONCLUSIONS: Long-term IOP fluctuation in PACG group was larger than that in PACS or PAC group. Eyes with higher baseline IOP were observed to have larger long-term IOP fluctuation.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Studies indicated that Mer might be the main contributor to the specific internalization of photoreceptor outer segments (POS) in retinal pigment epithelium (RPE). It is very important to understand the mechanism of POS phagocytosis under the pathway of Mer and its ligands. The objective of this study was to identify changes in gene expression profiles caused by Mer gene knockout (Mer-/-) during phagocytosis of POS in RPE. METHODS: RPE from both Mer-/- and wild-type (WT) mice were isolated and cultured to the 3rd passage. POS were subjected to culture medium with 20 nmol/L Gas6 and protein S to activate specific mer-mediated phagocytosis. RPE phagocytosis was evaluated by phagocytosis assays and differential gene expression identified by microarray at 3 and 12 hours; the 0-hour time point served as the control. Three independent samples for each Mer-/- or WT RPE were subjected to the same protocol of microarray. Five genes were confirmed by real-time quantitative PCR (QPCR). RESULTS: The Mer-/- RPE had less internalized POS than WT RPE after both 3 and 12 hours in phagocytosis assay. Compared to WT RPE and the 0-hour control, 38 and 45 different known genes were increased and 68 and 59 known genes were decreased in Mer-/- RPE after 3 and 12 hours, respectively. Abnormal POS phagocytosis in Mer-/- RPE was associated with significant gene expression changes in, for example, signal transduction (WNT, MAPK), phagocytosis (Vav3, Hsd11b1), cytoskeleton components (Myo7a), and metabolism, in a time-specific manner. QPCR results showed Vav3, Hsd11b1, Myo7a, Rtn2 and Itga8 in those independent samples were consistent with microarray. CONCLUSION: Gene expression profiles modulated in a time-specific manner in Mer-/- RPE indicate a possible internalization mechanism for abnormal POS phagocytosis, which gives insight into the mechanism of retinitis pigmentosa caused by the mutation of MerTK in humans.

RESUMO

The title mol-ecule, C(19)H(23)NO(4), was synthesized by the reaction of benzaldehyde, ethyl acetoacetate and NH(4)HCO(3). The dihydro-pyridine ring adopts a flattened boat conformation and the plane of the base of the boat forms a dihedral angle of 88.78 (9)° with the phenyl ring. The packing is stabilized by strong inter-molecular N-H⋯O and weak inter-molecular C-H⋯O hydrogen bonds.
