BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVES: Metformin, an oral hypoglycemic drug, has been suggested to possess antitumour activity in several types of cancers. Additionally, interleukin-8 (IL-8) has been reported to be involved in the development and metastasis of many cancers. However, the effect of metformin on IL-8 expression in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) remains unclear. Therefore, this study aimed to investigate whether metformin could inhibit IL-8 expression to exert an inhibitory effect on HCC progression. MATERIALS AND METHODS: The IL-8 levels were measured in the plasma of 159 HCC patients (86 men, 73 women; average age 56 years) and in the culture supernatant of HCC cells (Hep3B and HuH7) using flow cytometry. In addition, the protein expression levels of IL-8 were also validated by the Human Protein Atlas (HPA) database. The prognostic value of IL-8 was evaluated using the Kaplan-Meier Plotter database. The association between IL-8 expression and immune checkpoints was estimated using the TIMER and The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) databases. What's more, bioinformatics analysis, western blotting, and transwell assays were conducted to illustrate the molecular mechanism of metformin (≤1 mM) on IL-8 in HCC. RESULTS: IL-8 expression was found to be increased in the plasma of HCC patients, which is consistent with the expression of IL-8 in HCC cells and tissues. High expression of IL-8 was significantly related to poor prognosis. In addition, IL-8 was positively correlated with immune checkpoints in HCC. Notably, we found that low-dose metformin could inhibit the secretion of IL-8 by HCC cells and the migration of HCC cells. Mechanistically, low-dose metformin significantly suppresses HCC metastasis mainly through the AMPK/JNK/IL-8/MMP9 pathway. CONCLUSION: The results indicate that low-dose metformin can inhibit HCC metastasis by suppressing IL-8 expression. Targeting the AMPK/JNK/IL-8 axis may be a promising treatment strategy for patients with HCC metastasis.

Given a graph G, the network collapse problem (NCP) selects a vertex subset S of minimum cardinality from G such that the difference in the values of a given measure function f(G)-f(G∖S) is greater than a predefined collapse threshold. Many graph analytic applications can be formulated as NCPs with different measure functions, which often pose a significant challenge due to their NP-hard nature. As a result, traditional greedy algorithms, which select the vertex with the highest reward at each step, may not effectively find the optimal solution. In addition, existing learning-based algorithms do not have the ability to model the sequence of actions taken during the decision-making process, making it difficult to capture the combinatorial effect of selected vertices on the final solution. This limits the performance of learning-based approaches in non-submodular NCPs. To address these limitations, we propose a unified framework called DT-NC, which adapts the Decision Transformer to the Network Collapse problems. DT-NC takes into account the historical actions taken during the decision-making process and effectively captures the combinatorial effect of selected vertices. The ability of DT-NC to model the dependency among selected vertices allows it to address the difficulties caused by the non-submodular property of measure functions in some NCPs effectively. Through extensive experiments on various NCPs and graphs of different sizes, we demonstrate that DT-NC outperforms the state-of-the-art methods and exhibits excellent transferability and generalizability.

Conflict adaptation can be expressed as greater performance (shorter response time and lower error rate) after incongruent trials when compared to congruent trials. It has been observed in designs that minimize confounding factors, i.e., feature integration, contingency learning, and temporal learning. Our current study aimed to further elucidate the temporal evolution mechanisms of conflict adaptation. To address this issue, the current study employed a combination of behavioral, univariate, and multivariate analysis (MVPA) methods in a modified color-word Stroop task, where half of the trials required button presses (DO trials), and the other half only required observation (LOOK trials). Both behavioral and the ERP results (N450 and SP) in the LOOK-DO transition trials revealed significant conflict adaptation without feature integration, contingency learning, and temporal learning, providing support for the conflict monitoring theory. Furthermore, during the LOOK trials, significant Stroop effect in the N450 and SP components were observed, indicating that conflict monitoring occurred at the stimulus level and triggered reactive control adjustments. The MVPA results decoded the congruent-incongruent and incongruent-incongruent conditions during the conflict adjustment phase but not during the conflict monitoring phase, emphasizing the unique contribution of conflict adjustment to conflict adaptation. The current research findings provided more compelling supporting evidence for the conflict monitoring theory, while also indicating that future studies should employ the present design to elucidate the specific processes of conflict adaptation.

Background: Endoscopic surgery for malignant breast tumors is becoming more and more popular and has been applied in the clinical setting. Single-port endoscopic-assisted radical mastectomy in retrograde way and immediate reconstruction using prosthesis implantation are rare. Therefore, this study described a new endoscopic technique for breast surgery. Methods: This is a cross-sectional study. A total of 12 patients with breast cancer diagnosed in the Department of Thyroid Breast Surgery of The Second Affiliated Hospital of Fujian Medical University from January 2019 to June 2022 were retrospectively selected and underwent axillary single-port endoscopic-assisted radical mastectomy in retrograde way and immediate reconstruction using prosthesis implantation. Results: The average operation time was 190.25±25.40 min, the average blood loss was 86.25±33.11 mL, the average drainage volume was 207.92±65.90 mL 3 days after surgery, and the average hospital stay was 9.67±2.57 days. The follow-up period ranged from 11 to 21 months, with an average of 16.75 months. Medial paresthesia was present in only one patient, which decreased or disappeared after 3 months. No complications such as wound infection or limb dysfunction occurred in the remaining patients. Postoperative follow-up showed that 10 patients were very satisfied, one patient was relatively satisfied, and one patient was not satisfied. Conclusions: Preliminary data attested the feasibility and the safety of this approach. It can improve patient satisfaction compared with traditional modified radical mastectomy for suitable candidates. However, long-term data are needed to confirm the oncological safety and the esthetic stability of the result.

BACKGROUND: Inflammatory factors are being recognized as critical modulators of host antitumor immunity in liver cancer. We have previously shown that tumor cell-released LC3B positive extracellular vesicles (LC3B+ EVs) are responsible for malignant progression by dampening antitumor immunity. However, the relationship between LC3B+ EVs and inflammatory factors in the regulation of the liver cancer microenvironment remains unclear. METHODS: Flow cytometry analyses were performed to examine the panel of 12 cytokines, the main source of positive cytokines, and plasma LC3B+ EVs carrying HSP90α in peripheral blood of liver cancer patients. We correlated the levels of plasma IL-6, IL-8 with LC3B+ EVs carrying HSP90α and with prognosis. In vitro culture of healthy donor leukocytes with liver cancer-derived LC3B+ EVs was performed to evaluate the potential effect of blocking HSP90α, IL-6 or IL-8 alone or in combination with PD-1 inhibitor on CD8+ T cell function. We also investigated the potential associations of MAP1LC3B, HSP90AA1, IL6 or IL8 with immunotherapy efficacy using the TCGA databases. RESULTS: In liver cancer patients, plasma IL-6 and IL-8 levels were significantly higher than in healthy controls and associated with poor clinical outcome. In peripheral blood, levels of plasma LC3B+ EVs carrying HSP90α were significantly elevated in HCC patients and positively associated with IL-6 and IL-8 levels, which are predominantly secreted by monocytes and neutrophils. Moreover, LC3B+ EVs from human liver cancer cells promoted the secretion of IL-6 and IL-8 by leukocytes through HSP90α. Besides, we show that the cytokines IL-6 and IL-8 secreted by LC3B+ EVs-induced leukocytes were involved in the inhibition of CD8+ T-cell function, while blockade of the HSP90α on the LC3B+ EVs, IL-6, or IL-8 could enhance anti-PD-1-induced T cell reinvigoration. Finally, patients who received anti-PD-1/PD-L1 immunotherapy with high MAP1LC3B, HSP90AA1, IL6, or IL8 expression had a lower immunotherapy efficacy. CONCLUSIONS: Our data suggest that liver cancer-derived LC3B+ EVs promote a pro-oncogenic inflammatory microenvironment by carrying membrane-bound HSP90α. Targeting HSP90α on the LC3B+ EVs, IL-6, or IL-8 may synergize with anti-PD-1 treatment to enhance the CD8+ T-cell functions, which may provide novel combination strategies in the clinic for the treatment of liver cancer.

Interferon-alpha (IFN-α) is widely used in the clinical treatment of patients with chronic hepatitis B and hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). However, high levels of CXCL8 are associated with resistance to IFN-α therapy and poorer prognosis in advanced cancers. In this study, we investigated whether IFN-α could directly induce the production of CXCL8 in HCC cells and whether CXCL8 could antagonize the antitumor activity of IFN-α. We found that IFN-α not only upregulated the expression of the inducible genes CXCL9, CXCL10, CXCL11 and PD-L1, but also significantly stimulated CXCL8 secretion in HCC cells. Mechanically, IFN-α induces CXCL8 expression by activating the AKT and JNK pathways. In addition, our results demonstrate that IFN-α exposure significantly increases the differentiation of HCC stem cells, but this effect is reversed by the addition of the CXCL8 receptor CXCR1/2 inhibitor Reparixin and STAT3 inhibitor Stattic. Besides, our study reveals that the cytokine CXCL8 secreted by IFN-α-induced HCC cells inhibits T-cell function. Conversely, inhibition of CXCL8 promotes TNF-α and IFN-γ secretion by T cells. Finally, liver cancer patients who received anti-PD-1/PD-L1 immunotherapy with high CXCL8 expression had a lower immunotherapy efficacy. Overall, our findings clarify that IFN-α triggers immunosuppression and cancer stem cell differentiation in hepatocellular carcinoma by upregulating CXCL8 secretion. This discovery provides a novel approach to enhance the effectiveness of HCC treatment in the future.

Human umbilical cord mesenchymal stem cells (hUCMSCs) exhibit potent self-renewal and multilineage differentiation characteristics. They have garnered substantial attention within the domain of regenerative medicine owing to their therapeutic potential, such as in tissue repair, regeneration, immunomodulation, anti-inflammation, angiogenesis, wound healing, neuroprotection, and neuroregeneration. The process of fate determination is initiated by multiple signaling molecules. During development and tissue homeostasis, the Notch signaling pathway assumes a pivotal function in cell differentiation and the renewal of stem cells. A growing body of research has revealed that the Notch signaling pathwayplays a pivotal role in hUCMSC proliferation and differentiation. The latest progress concerning the crucial functions of the Notch signaling pathway in maintaining homeostasis and determining the cell fate of hUCMSCs is summarized. Furthermore, the authors also summarized the mediators related to the Notch signaling pathway in hUCMSC differentiation, as well as the pathway alterations and mechanisms involved in hUCMSC therapy.

Self-referential information has been shown to optimize behavioral performance in various domains. The present study examined the role of self-referential information as a cue to enhance cognitive control and, more specifically, conflict adaptation. A revised color Stroop task was used with stimuli consisting of possessive pronouns and color words (e.g., "my green"). The results showed that self-referential information reduced conflict adaptation (the congruency sequence effect at trial level in Experiment 1, at block level in Experiment 2, and the list-wide proportion congruency effect at block level in Experiment 3). These findings suggest that self-referential information can act as a cue to optimize conflict adaptation. This study highlights the role of self-referential information in cognitive control adjustments.

Recent concerns have emerged regarding the improper disposal of spent lithium-ion batteries (LIBs), which has garnered widespread societal attention. Graphite materials accounted for 12-21 wt % of LIBs' mass, typically contain heavy metals, binders, and residual electrolytes. Regenerating spent graphite not only alleviated the shortage of plumbago, but also contributed to the supports environmental protection as well as national carbon peak and neutrality ("dual carbon" goals). Despite significant advancements in recycling spent LIBs had been made, a comprehensive overview of the processes for pretreatment, regeneration, and functionalization of spent graphite from retired LIBs, along with the associated technical standards and industry regulations enabling their smooth implementation still needed to be mentioned. Hence, we conducted the following research work. Firstly, the pre-treatment process of spent graphite, including discharging, crushing, and screening was summed up. Next,. Subsequently, graphite recovery methods, such as acid leaching, pyrometallurgy, and combined methods were summarized. Moreover, the modification and doping approach was used to enhance the electrochemical properties of graphite. Afterwards, we reviewed the functionalization of anode graphite from an economically and environmentally friendly view. Meanwhile, the technical standards and industry regulations of spent LIBs in domestic and oversea industries were described. Finally, we provided an overview of the technical challenges and development bottlenecks in graphite recycling, along with future prospects Overall, this study outlined the opportunities and challenges in recovering and functionalizing of anode materials via a efficient and sustainable processes.

Significance: Two-photon fluorescence microscopy (TPFM) excited by Gaussian beams requires axial tomographic scanning for three-dimensional (3D) volumetric imaging, which is a time-consuming process, and the slow imaging speed hinders its application for in vivo brain imaging. The Bessel focus, characterized by an extended depth of focus and constant resolution, facilitates the projection of a 3D volume onto a two-dimensional image, which significantly enhances the speed of volumetric imaging. Aim: We aimed to demonstrate the ability of a TPFM with a sidelobe-free Bessel beam to provide a promising tool for research in live biological specimens. Approach: Comparative in vivo imaging was conducted in live mouse brains and transgenic zebrafish to evaluate the performance of TPFM and Bessel-beam-based TPFM. Additionally, an image-difference method utilizing zeroth-order and third-order Bessel beams was introduced to effectively suppress background interference introduced by sidelobes. Results: In comparison with traditional TPFM, the Bessel-beams-based TPFM demonstrated a 30-fold increase in imaging throughput and speed. Furthermore, the effectiveness of the image-difference method was validated in live biological specimens, resulting in a substantial enhancement of image contrast. Importantly, our TPFM with a sidelobe-free Bessel beam exhibited robustness against axial displacements, a feature of considerable value for in vivo experiments. Conclusions: We achieved rapid, high-contrast, and robust volumetric imaging of the vasculature in live mouse brains and transgenic zebrafish using our TPFM with a sidelobe-free Bessel beam.

Given the high toxicity of arsenic (As) and the strategic importance of antimony (Sb), the separation of As and Sb has become a pivotal concern in the disposal of arsenic­antimony flue dust and other arsenic­antimony hazardous wastes. In this study, we propose a controlled roasting process employing anthracite and sulfuric acid additives to efficiently separate As and Sb at relatively low temperatures. Thermodynamic calculations revealed that the interactive reactions between arsenic and antimony oxides in conventional pyrometallurgical processes were the primary hindrance to their effective separation. However, the synergistic effect of anthracite and sulfuric acid not only disrupted the interactive reactions but also promoted the high-efficiency volatilization of As at low temperatures, thereby creating favorable conditions for the separation of As and Sb. Furthermore, a series of comparative experiments and comprehensive analyses regarding the evolution of phase composition, valence state, and morphology were conducted, revealing the underlying mechanisms of the effects of temperature and carbon addition. Through optimization, 91.24 % of As was successfully volatilized, while the volatilization efficiency of Sb was significantly reduced to 9.43 % under optimal conditions, involving a roasting temperature of 400 °C, anthracite addition of 1.6 %, sulfuric acid dosage of 0.135 mL/g, and a roasting duration of 3 h.

ABSTRACT: Background : The influence of restrictive fluid resuscitation and the early administration of vasopressors on the clinical outcomes in patients with septic shock are not fully understood. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effects of restrictive fluid management on mortality and organ dysfunction in patients with septic shock. Methods : This study included consecutive patients with septic shock in need of fluid resuscitation. Based on the fluid management provided in the initial resuscitation phase, a comparison was made between a restrictive group and a standard fluid management group. The primary outcome was in-hospital death, whereas secondary outcomes included organ dysfunction and other adverse events. Results : A total of 238 patients were included in this study. Restrictive fluid management was administered to 59.2% of patients, whereas 40.8% received standard fluid management. Restrictive resuscitation was associated with a lower in-hospital mortality rate (24.8% vs. 52.6%), as well as a shorter median intensive care unit stay (8.0 vs. 11.0 days). The restrictive strategy was associated with a significantly lower prevalence of new-onset acute kidney injury (25.5% vs. 51.5%) and a decrease in the incidence of renal replacement therapy (20.6% vs. 40.2%). The standard group had a higher risk of the need for mechanical ventilation and a significantly lower median number of days without a ventilator than the restrictive group. The median duration of vasopressor-free days in the restrictive group was significantly longer than that in the standard group (25.0 vs. 18.0). The administration rate of inotropes in the restrictive group was significantly lower than that in the standard group. A multivariate logistic regression model showed that restrictive fluid management (odds ratio [OR], 0.312; 95% confidence interval [CI], 0.098-0.994) and vasopressor-free days (OR, 0.807; 95% CI, 0.765-0.851) protect against in-hospital death, whereas Acute Physiology and Chronic Health Evaluation II scores (OR, 1.121; 95% CI, 1.018-1.234) were independent risk factors for in-hospital death. Conclusions : Restrictive fluid resuscitation and early vasopressor protocol in patients with septic shock are associated with better outcomes, indicating that this regimen is feasible and safe.

Existing low-light image enhancement techniques face challenges in achieving high visual quality and computational efficiency, as well as in effectively removing noise and adjusting illumination in extremely dark scenes. To address these problems, in this paper, we propose an illumination enhancement network based on Retinex theory for fast and accurate brightening of images in low-illumination scenes. Two learning-based networks are carefully constructed: decomposition network and enhancement network. The decomposition network is responsible for decomposing the low-light input image into the initial reflectance and illumination map. The enhanced network includes two sub-modules: the illumination enhancement module and the reflection denoising module, which are used for efficient brightness enhancement and accurate reflectance. Specially, we have established a cascaded iterative lighting learning process and utilized weight sharing to conduct accurate illumination estimation. Additionally, unsupervised training losses are defined to improve the generalization ability of the model. The proposed illumination enhancement framework enables noise suppression and detail preservation of the final decomposition results. To establish the efficacy and superiority of the model, on the widely applicable LOL dataset, our approach achieves a significant 9.16% increase in PSNR compared to the classical Retinex-Net, and a remarkable enhancement of 19.26% compared to the latest SCI method.

Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) is a highly successful human pathogen that colonizes stomach in around 50% of the global population. The colonization of bacterium induces an inflammatory response and a substantial rise in the production of reactive oxygen species (ROS) and reactive nitrogen species (RNS), mostly derived from host neutrophils and gastric epithelial cells, which play a crucial role in combating bacterial infections. However, H. pylori has developed various strategies to quench the deleterious effects of ROS, including the production of antioxidant enzymes, antioxidant proteins as well as blocking the generation of oxidants. The host's inability to eliminate H. pylori infection results in persistent ROS production. Notably, excessive ROS can disrupt the intracellular signal transduction and biological processes of the host, incurring chronic inflammation and cellular damage, such as DNA damage, lipid peroxidation, and protein oxidation. Markedly, the sustained inflammatory response and oxidative stress during H. pylori infection are major risk factor for gastric carcinogenesis. In this context, we summarize the literature on H. pylori infection-induced ROS production, the strategies used by H. pylori to counteract the host response, and subsequent host damage and gastric carcinogenesis.

Volatilization plays an important role in the attenuation and redistribution of petroleum products in contaminated porous media. However, the volatilization behavior of petroleum products exposed to freeze-thaw cycles is not well understood. In this study, we investigated the volatilization behavior of diesel oil-water-glass bead systems under different freeze-thaw cycles. Low-field nuclear magnetic resonance (LF-NMR) was used to quantitatively and spatially monitor the mass loss of the diesel oil-water-glass bead system during volatilization. The mechanism of the influence of freeze-thaw cycles on volatilization in the diesel oil-water-glass bead system was analyzed. The results show that the freeze-thaw cycles have a significant effect on the volatilization rate of diesel oil and water. As the number of freeze-thaw cycles increases, the volatilization rate of diesel oil shows an overall downward trend while the volatilization rate of water shows an overall upward trend. The volatilization loss of the liquids (both diesel oil and water) is mainly due to the volatilization loss of water, indicating that water is more volatile than diesel oil in the diesel oil-water system. The spatial distribution of the diesel oil signal monitored by LF-NMR showed that diesel oil volatilizes mainly in the upper layer of the sample, associating with the preferential volatilization loss in the large pores. The lumped parameter λ related to the characteristic volatilization length LV was introduced to characterize the volatilization rate of diesel oil and water with the increase of volatilization time. For a diesel oil-water-glass bead system exposed to freeze-thaw cycles, the 1/ LV of diesel oil decreases exponentially and rapidly with increasing volatilization time, while the 1/ LV of water decreases almost linearly and slowly with increasing volatilization time. This different dependence of 1/ LV on volatilization time leads to the individual volatilization behavior of diesel oil and water.

SCOPE: The present study aims to investigate the anti-Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) effects of Lactiplantibacillus plantarum ZJ316 (L. plantarum ZJ316) both in vitro and in vivo. METHODS AND RESULTS: This study finds that L. plantarum ZJ316 effectively suppresses H. pylori adhesion in inhibition (Pre-ZJ316), competition (Co-ZJ316), and displacement (Post-ZJ316) assays, and Pre-ZJ316 displaying the most potent inhibitory effect with an impressive inhibition ratio of 70.14%. Upon anti-adhesion, L. plantarum ZJ316 significantly downregulates the expression of H. pylori virulence genes, including ureA, ureB, flaA, and sabA, with inhibition ratios of 46.83%, 24.02%, 21.42%, and 62.38% at 2 h, respectively. In addition, L. plantarum ZJ316 is observed to reduce the level of interleukin 8 (IL-8) and improve cell viability in infected AGS cells. Furthermore, in vivo studies show that supplementation with L. plantarum ZJ316 effectively hinders H. pylori colonization and significantly suppresses the infiltration of immune cells and IL-8 production with H. pylori infection, protecting host from inflammatory damage. CONCLUSION: L. plantarum ZJ316 exhibits excellent adhesion inhibition on H. pylori, and may be used as a probiotic candidate in the prevention or adjuvant therapy of gastric disease caused by H. pylori.

The yield of C4 olefin is often low due to the complexity of the associated products. Finding the optimal ethanol reaction conditions requires repeated manual experiments, which results in a large consumption of resources. Therefore, it is challenging to design ethanol reaction conditions to make the highest possible yield of C4 olefin. This paper introduces artificial intelligence technology to the optimization problem of C4 olefin production conditions. A sample incremental eXtreme Gradient Boosting tree based on Gaussian noise (GXGB) is proposed to establish the objective function of the variables to be optimized. The Sparrow Search Algorithm (SSA), which has an improved advantage in the optimization efficiency, is used to combine with GXGB. Therefore, a kind of hybrid model GXGB-SSA that can solve the optimization of complex problems is proposed. The purpose of this model is to find the combination of ethanol reaction conditions that makes the maximum yield of C4 olefin. In addition, due to the insufficient interpretation ability of GXGB on the data, the SHAP (SHapley Additive exPlanations) value method is creatively introduced to investigate the effect of each ethanol reaction condition on the yield of C4 olefin. The constraints of each decision variable for optimization are adjusted according to the analysis results. The experimental results have showed that the proposed GXGB-SSA model obtained the combination of ethanol reaction conditions that maximized the yield of C4 olefin. (i.e., when the Co loading is 1.1248 wt%, the Co/SiO2 and HAP mass ratio is 1.8402, the ethanol concentration is 0.8992 ml/min, the total catalyst mass is 400 mg, and the reaction temperature is 420.37 ℃, the highest C4 olefin yield is obtained as 5611.46%). It is nearly 25.46 % higher compared to the current highest yield of 4472.81 % obtained from manual experiments.

In this work, the influence of different phosphorus sources and the modification of zinc and phosphorus on the performance of the conversion of methanol to aromatics (MTA) was investigated. The results showed that the phosphorus source had a significant impact on the selectivity of para-xylene (PX) in xylene and catalyst stability. The introduction of P resulted in the covering of the active acid sites and the narrowing of the pore of the ZSM-5 zeolite, which improved the shape-selectivity for PX in the methanol conversion reaction. Compared with the modifiers of H3PO4 and (NH4)3PO4, the ZSM-5 zeolite modified by (NH4)2HPO4 exhibited better catalyst stability and PX-selectivity due to its larger specific surface area, pore volume and suitable acidity. When the ZSM-5 zeolite was modified by Zn and P, the effect of Zn and P on the selectivity to aromatics and PX in xylene was almost opposite. With the increase in P-loading, the selectivity of PX in xylene gradually increased but at the cost of decreasing the aromatic-selectivity. On the other hand, the loading of Zn introduced Zn-Lewis acid sites to provide aromatization active centers and improved the aromatic-selectivity. However, excessive Zn reduced the selectivity of PX in xylene. The catalyst activity and aromatic-selectivity could be improved to some extent with an appropriate ratio of Zn and P, while maintaining or increasing the para-selectivity of xylene. Compared with 5% P/ZSM-5 catalyst modified with only (NH4)2HPO4, the PX selectivity in xylene over the Zn-P/ZSM-5 catalyst modified with 5% Zn and 1% P improved from 86.6% to 90.1%, and the PX yield increased by 59%.

Flowering locus C (FLC) is a central transcriptional repressor that controls flowering time. However, how FLC is imported into the nucleus is unknown. Here, we report that Arabidopsis nucleoporins 62 (NUP62), NUP58, and NUP54 composed NUP62-subcomplex modulates FLC nuclear import during floral transition in an importin α-independent manner, via direct interaction. NUP62 recruits FLC to the cytoplasmic filaments and imports it into the nucleus through the NUP62-subcomplex composed central channel. Importin ß supersensitive to ABA and drought 2 (SAD2), a carrier protein, is critical for FLC nuclear import and flower transition, which facilitates FLC import into the nucleus mainly through the NUP62-subcomplex. Proteomics, RNA-seq, and cell biological analyses indicate that the NUP62-subcomplex mainly mediates the nuclear import of cargos with unconventional nuclear localization sequences (NLSs), such as FLC. Our findings illustrate the mechanisms of the NUP62-subcomplex and SAD2 on FLC nuclear import process and floral transition, and provide insights into the role of NUP62-subcomplex and SAD2 in protein nucleocytoplasmic transport in plants.

RESUMO

A new CdII-based luminescent metal-organic framework (LMOF) with the formula {[Cd(BIBT)(NDC)]·solvents}n (JXUST-32, BIBT = 4,7-bi(1H-imidazol-1-yl)benzo-[2,1,3]thiadiazole and H2NDC = 2,6-naphthalenedicarboxylic acid) was successfully synthesized by a solvothermal method. JXUST-32 shows a two-dimensional (4,4)-connected network and exhibits significant fluorescence red shift and slight enhancement for H2PO4- and CO32- sensing with detection limits of 0.11 and 0.12 µM, respectively. In addition, JXUST-32 has good thermal stability, chemical stability and recyclability. Significantly, JXUST-32 represents a fluorescence red-shift dual response MOF sensor for H2PO4- and CO32- detection and the analytes can be identified by the naked eye, aerosol jet printing filter paper, light-emitting diode beads and luminescent films.
