Sprue-like picture induced by colchicine

Colchicine when given to rats by subcutaneous injection has produced a condition which is similar both functionally and morphologically to sprue. In rats after 3 daily doses of 0.1 mg/100g body weight, atrophy of the jejunal mucosa with blunting of the villi has been found.
