Objective: To investigate the prevention and treatment status of venous thromboembolism (VTE) of pregnant women in general hospitals and specialized hospitals in China. Methods: This study was a cross-sectional survey about VTE prevention and treatment in 112 hospitals across China from January 1st to December 31st, 2019, including general information, resource accessibility, hospital system and strategy. According to the characteristics, the hospitals were divided into general hospital group (70 hospitals) and specialized hospital group (42 hospitals). The basic information, VTE diagnosis and treatment resources, prevention systems and the preference of the VTE risk assessment form of the two groups were compared. Logistic regression was used to analyze the proportion of VTE incidence and related factors in the two groups of hospitals. Results: (1) The median annual delivery volume of the general hospital group was significantly lower than that of the specialized hospital group (3 428 vs 9 969 cases, P<0.01), the diagnostic accessibility of CT pulmonary angiography (CTPA) was significantly higher than that of the specialized hospital [92.9% (65/70) vs 59.5% (25/42), P<0.01], and the proportion of obstetric VTE risk assessment was significantly higher than that of the specialized hospital group [85.7% (60/70) vs 66.7% (28/42), P=0.017]. (2) Among the 88 hospitals using the VTE risk assessment sheet, the utilization rate of the evaluation sheet recommended by the obstetric VTE guideline in specialized hospitals (78.6%, 22/28) was higher than that of general hospitals (48.3%, 29/60), and the difference was statistically significant (P=0.007). (3) The proportion of VTE incidence in general hospital group was 0.126% (360/286 517), and the proportion of VTE incidence in specialized hospital group was 0.032% (154/484 111). Logistic regression analysis showed that the OR value of the specialized hospital group was 0.253 (95%CI: 0.209-0.305) and the difference was statistically significant (P<0.01) compared with the general hospital group. After adjusting the hospital level, B-ultrasonography and CTPA accessibility, whether to establish a risk assessment and obstetric VTE system, the proportion of VTE incidence in specialized hospitals was still lower than that in general hospitals (OR=0.307, 95%CI: 0.251-0.376, P<0.01). Conclusions: General hospitals have higher access to resources for diagnosing VTE than specialized hospitals, and the VTE evaluation system is better implemented. The utilization rate of the obstetric VTE guidelines in specialized hospitals is higher than that of general hospitals.

OBJECTIVE: The aim of this study was to investigate the expression of long non-coding ribonucleic acid (lncRNA) AK058003 in esophageal carcinoma (EC) tissues, and to analyze its intervention effect. PATIENTS AND METHODS: The expression of lncRNA AK058003 in EC tissues and para-carcinoma tissues from 130 EC patients was detected via quantitative Polymerase Chain Reaction (qPCR). EC cell lines were selected for exogenous interference in lncRNA AK058003. Subsequently, the expression of lncRNA AK058003 in normal esophageal epithelial cell line (Het-1A) and EC cell lines (EC109, EC9706, KYSE-150, KYSE-30, and TE-1) was detected by qPCR. EC9706 cell lines with the highest expression of lncRNA AK058003 were selected and transfected with lncRNA AK058003 siRNA and lncRNA AK058003 control, respectively. After transfection, the expression of lncRNA AK058003 was determined using PCR. The changes in cell growth and proliferation were analyzed via cell growth curve and cell cycle assay. Meanwhile, the changes in cell migration and invasion were analyzed through wound healing assay. Protein expressions of matrix metalloproteinase-1 (MMP1) and MMP2 were determined by Western blot. Clinical data were collected from EC patients, and the association between lncRNA AK058003 expression and tumor-node-metastasis (TNM) stage was finally analyzed. RESULTS: LncRNA AK058003 was highly expressed EC tissues compared with para-carcinoma tissues (p<0.01). Compared with Het-1A cells, the expression of lncRNA AK058003 was significantly higher in EC109, EC9706, KYSE-150, KYSE-30, and TE-1 cells, with highest level in EC9706 cells (p<0.05). The expression of lncRNA AK058003 remarkably declined in lncRNA AK058003 siRNA group compared with lncRNA AK058003 control group (p<0.001). Compared with lncRNA AK058003 control group, the proliferation of EC cells was significantly weakened in lncRNA AK058003 siRNA group, with the greatest difference at 3 d. Flow cytometry results revealed that cell cycle was arrested in G0/G1 phase in lncRNA AK058003 siRNA group. Wound healing assay indicated that the intercellular distance became large, and cell migration ability was evidently enhanced in lncRNA AK058003 siRNA group with time (p<0.05). Besides, the protein expressions of MMP1 and MMP2 were remarkably lower in lncRNA AK058003 siRNA group than those in lncRNA AK058003 control group. This indicated remarkably declined invasion and metastasis ability. In addition, the postoperative prognosis was significantly worse in patients with higher expression of lncRNA AK058003 (p<0.05). All these findings suggested that lncRNA AK058003 could serve as a biomarker for EC prognosis. CONCLUSIONS: LncRNA AK058003 is highly expressed in EC patients, which promotes proliferation, migration, invasion, and metastasis of EC cells. In addition, the postoperative prognosis of EC patients with high expression of lncRNA AK058003 is relatively poor.

Objective:To determine the diagnostic role of diffusionweighted imaging(DWI) and apparent diffusion coefficient(ADC) under different b values in differentiating benign and malignant thyroid nodules by using postoperative histopathological results were taken as the reference standard. Method: From January 2017 to June 2018, 64 patients with thyroid nodules diagnosed by ultrasound in the head and neck surgery of Shanxi Cancer Hospital were collected, and a total of 80 nodules were collected. The Philips 3.0T superconducting magnetic resonance imaging system was used for T1 weighting, T2 weighting, and DWI horizontal axis scanning imaging. The b values were 300, 500, 800 and 1 000 s/mm², respectively. Taking postoperative histopathological results as the reference standard, the ADC values of thyroid nodules of all subjects were calculated and compared, and the working characteristics(ROC) curves of all subjects with b values were drawn, the area under the curve was calculated, and the threshold value of differentiating benign and malignant thyroid nodules was obtained. Result:A total of 80 nodules, 33 malignant and 43 benign were excluded, including 1 diffuse b-cell non-hodgkin's lymphoma, 2 parathyroid cysts, and 1 pure cystic patient. A total of 76 nodules were included. When b values were 300, 500, 800 and 1 000 s/mm²î€‰, the average ADC values of malignant nodules were(1.498±0.210) ×10⁻³mm²î€‰/s, (1.311±0.190) ×10⁻³î€‰mm²/s, (1.134±0.170) ×10⁻³mm²î€‰/s, (0.972±0150) ×10⁻³mm²/s. The mean ADC values of benign nodules were(2.207±0.390) ×10⁻³mm²/s, (1.928±0.430) ×10⁻³î€‰mm²/s, (1.702±0.410) ×10⁻³mm²/s,(1.557±0.420) ×10⁻³mm²/s. At the same b value, the average ADC value of malignant nodules was lower than that of benign nodules, and the difference was statistically significant(t values were 9.279,7.641,7.301,7.569, P values were 0.000,0.000,0.000,0.000,0.000). The average ADC values of the benign and malignant nodules decreased with the increase of b value, and the difference was statistically significant(the F values of the benign and malignant groups were 210.091 and 353.822, respectively,P values are 0.000, 0.000). Under different b values, the area(AUC) of ROC curve is 0.927,0.884,0.878,0.901,and 95%CI are 0.862-0.993,0.804-0.956,0.794-0.962 and 0.829-0.972, respectively. When b value is 300 s/mm², AUC is the largest, indicating that it is the best indicator to distinguish benign and malignant thyroid nodules. The diagnostic threshold of benign and malignant nodules is 1.802×10⁻³mm²/s. Specificity, sensitivity, accuracy, positive predictive value, and negative predictive value were 95.00%,86.11%,90.79%,93.94% and 88.37%, respectively. Conclusion: DWI is a noninvasive diagnostic tool used to identify benign and malignant thyroid nodules. It can help to make a definite diagnosis before surgery and reduce the unnecessary burden of surgery.

We report findings of strong anomalies in both mutual inductance and inelastic Raman spectroscopy measurements of single-unit-cell FeSe film grown on Nb-doped SrTiO3, which occur near the temperature where the superconductinglike energy gap opens. Analysis suggests that the anomaly is associated with a broadened ferroelectric transition in a thin layer near the FeSe/SrTiO3 interface. The coincidence of the ferroelectric transition and gap-opening temperatures adds credence to the central role played by the film-substrate interaction on the strong Cooper pairing in this system. We discuss scenarios that could explain such a coincidence.

Films of iron selenide (FeSe) one unit cell thick grown on strontium titanate (SrTiO3 or STO) substrates have recently shown superconducting energy gaps opening at temperatures close to the boiling point of liquid nitrogen (77 kelvin), which is a record for the iron-based superconductors. The gap opening temperature usually sets the superconducting transition temperature Tc, as the gap signals the formation of Cooper pairs, the bound electron states responsible for superconductivity. To understand why Cooper pairs form at such high temperatures, we examine the role of the SrTiO3 substrate. Here we report high-resolution angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy results that reveal an unexpected characteristic of the single-unit-cell FeSe/SrTiO3 system: shake-off bands suggesting the presence of bosonic modes, most probably oxygen optical phonons in SrTiO3 (refs 5, 6, 7), which couple to the FeSe electrons with only a small momentum transfer. Such interfacial coupling assists superconductivity in most channels, including those mediated by spin fluctuations. Our calculations suggest that this coupling is responsible for raising the superconducting gap opening temperature in single-unit-cell FeSe/SrTiO3.

Using angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy, we observe the low-temperature state of the A(x)Fe(2-y)Se(2) (A=K, Rb) superconductors to exhibit an orbital-dependent renormalization of the bands near the Fermi level-the d(xy) bands heavily renormalized compared to the d(xz)/d(yz) bands. Upon raising the temperature to above 150 K, the system evolves into a state in which the d(xy) bands have depleted spectral weight while the d(xz)/d(yz) bands remain metallic. Combined with theoretical calculations, our observations can be consistently understood as a temperature-induced crossover from a metallic state at low temperatures to an orbital-selective Mott phase at high temperatures. Moreover, the fact that the superconducting state of A(x)Fe(2-y)Se(2) is near the boundary of such an orbital-selective Mott phase constrains the system to have sufficiently strong on-site Coulomb interactions and Hund's coupling, highlighting the nontrivial role of electron correlation in this family of iron-based superconductors.

RESUMO

We discuss recent highlights from research at Cornell University, Ithaca, New York, regarding the use of spin-transfer torques to control magnetic moments in nanoscale ferromagnetic devices. We highlight progress on reducing the critical currents necessary to produce spin-torque-driven magnetic switching, quantitative measurements of the magnitude and direction of the spin torque in magnetic tunnel junctions, and single-shot measurements of the magnetic dynamics generated during thermally assisted spin-torque switching.

We have revealed the underlying mechanism of the martensitic phase transition (MPT) in a new class of ferromagnetic shape memory alloys, Ni2Mn1+xSn1-x, by the combination of bulk-sensitive hard-x-ray photoelectron spectroscopy and a first-principles density-functional calculation. The Ni 3d e{g} state in the cubic phase systematically shifts towards the Fermi energy with an increase in the number of Mn atoms substituted in the Sn sites. An abrupt decrease of the intensity of the Ni 3d e{g} states upon MPT for x=0.36-0.42 has been observed in the vicinity of the Fermi level. The energy shift of the Ni 3d minority-spin e{g} state in the cubic phase originates from hybridization with the antiferromagnetically coupled Mn in the Sn site. Below the MPT temperature, the Ni 3d state splits into two levels located below and above the Fermi energy in order to achieve an energetically stable state.

We report single-shot measurements of resistance versus time for thermally assisted spin-torque switching in magnetic tunnel junctions. We achieve the sensitivity to resolve the magnetic dynamics prior to as well as during switching, yielding detailed views of switching modes and variations between events. Analyses of individual traces allow measurements of coherence times, nonequilibrium excitation spectra, and variations in magnetization precession amplitude. We find that with a small in-plane hard-axis magnetic field the switching dynamics are more spatially coherent than for a zero field.

This randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled study evaluated whether lamivudine given during late pregnancy can reduce hepatitis B virus (HBV) perinatal transmission in highly viraemic mothers. Mothers were randomized to either lamivudine 100 mg or placebo from week 32 of gestation to week 4 postpartum. At birth, infants received recombinant HBV vaccine with or without HBIg and were followed until week 52. One hundred and fifty mothers, with a gestational age of 26-30 weeks and serum HBV DNA >1000 MEq/mL (bDNA assay), were treated. A total of 141 infants received immunoprophylaxis at birth. In lamivudine-treated mothers, 56 infants received vaccine + HBIg (lamivudine + vaccine + HBIg) and 26 infants received vaccine (lamivudine + vaccine). In placebo-treated mothers, 59 infants received vaccine + HBIg (placebo + vaccine + HBIg). At week 52, in the primary analyses where missing data was counted as failures, infants in the lamivudine + vaccine + HBIg group had a significant decrease in incidence of HBsAg seropositivity (10/56, 18%vs 23/59, 39%; P = 0.014) and in detectable HBV DNA (11/56, 20%vs 27/59, 46%; P = 0.003) compared to infants in the placebo + vaccine + HBIg group. Sensitivity analyses to evaluate the impact of missing data at week 52 resulting from a high dropout rate (13% in the lamivudine + vaccine + HBIg group and 31% in the placebo + vaccine + HBIg group) remained consistent with the primary analysis in that lower transmission rates were still observed in the infants of lamivudine-treated mothers, but the differences were not statistically significant. No safety concerns were noted in the lamivudine-treated mothers or their infants. Results of this study suggest that lamivudine reduced HBV transmission from highly viraemic mothers to their infants who received passive/active immunization.
