This manuscript reports the whole genome sequence of a conditionally pathogenic rhizobacterial strain, Pseudomonas putida AKMP7, which has been previously reported by us to be beneficial to Arabidopsis thaliana under well-watered conditions and pathogenic to the plant under water stress. As part of a study to understand this unique behavior, the whole genome sequence of this strain was analyzed. Based on the results, it was identified that the total length of the AKMP7 genome is 5,764,016 base pairs, and the total GC content of the genome is 62.93% (typical of P. putida). Using RAST annotation pipeline, it was identified that the genome has 5605 coding sequences, 80 repeat regions, 71 tRNA genes, and 22 rRNA genes. A total of 4487 functional proteins and 1118 hypothetical proteins were identified. Phylogenetic analysis has classified it as P. putida species, with a P value of 0.03. In order to identify close relatives of this strain, comparative genomics was performed with 30 other P. putida strains, taken from publicly available genome databases, using Average Nucleotide Identity (ANI) analysis. Whole genome comparison with these strains reveals that AKMP7 possesses Type-IV Secretion System (T4SS) with conjugative transfer functionality. Interestingly, the T4SS feature is absent in all the beneficial/harmless strains of P. putida that we analyzed. All the plant pathogenic bacteria that were analyzed had the T4SS feature in their genome, indicating its role in pathogenesis. This study aims to address important gaps in understanding the molecular mechanisms involved in the conditional/opportunistic pathogenesis of plant-associated, beneficial soil bacteria, using genomics approaches.

PURPOSE: In patients with symptomatic osteoarthritis knee (OAK), cryoneurolysis (CRYO) and cooled radiofrequency ablation (C-RFA) are reported to be effective and safe; however, they have not been compared directly. The objective of this study is to compare CRYO and C-RFA of the genicular nerve (GN) in terms of efficacy and safety profile in patients with Kellgren and Lawrence (KL) grade ≥ 3 OAK. METHODS: This single-centric, assessor-blinded, randomized, parallel-group, non-inferiority study will include 80 patients with KL grade ≥ 3 OAK. The patients with ≥ 50% pain relief on diagnostic block of three GNs will be randomized to one of the two groups, i.e., CRYO (n = 40) or C-RFA (n = 40). The three target GNs for the interventions will include: superior medial, superior lateral, and inferior medial. The primary outcome will be efficacy of CRYO or C-RFA at 2, 12, and 24 weeks post-procedure based on the 11-point Numerical Pain Rating Scale. The secondary outcomes will be functional improvement based on 12-item Oxford Knee Score and safety of both the procedures. The study is registered in the Clinical Trials Registry-India. CONCLUSION: CRYO and C-RFA provide pain relief and improve functional outcome by preventing transmission of pain signals, though by distinct mechanisms. While C-RFA is an established treatment modality, recent evidence supports CRYO in patients with OAK. This study intends to demonstrate non-inferiority of CRYO against C-RFA, thereby supporting the use of CRYO as an additional treatment modality in patients with KL grade ≥ 3 OAK.

Background: Lichen Planus (LP) is a chronic dermatosis affecting the skin and mucous membranes. Chronic inflammation and oxidative stress in patients with LP is a trigger predisposing to Metabolic Syndrome. Objectives: To study the association of Metabolic Syndrome in patients with LP. Materials and Methods: A hospital-based prospective case-control study was conducted from April 2021 to January 2023 including 75 histopathologically confirmed patients with LP and 82 age and sex-matched controls according to the inclusion and exclusion criteria. Metabolic Syndrome was diagnosed using Modified National Cholesterol Education Programme Adult Treatment Panel III criteria. Statistical analysis of the data was performed using Statistical Package for the Social Sciences software, version 26. The chi-square test was used for data analysis. Results: The majority (30.6%) of the patients belonged to the age group 31-40 years. The mean age of patients with LP was 46.13 ± 14.9 years. Female predominance (69.3%) was observed in our study. Patients with classic LP (54.6%) were predominantly observed. Metabolic Syndrome was significantly prevalent in LP patients than in controls (32% vs. 13.4%, p = 0.005, OR 3.037) and was significantly associated with morphology (only oral mucosal involvement, 61.5%, p 0.027, OR 3.9), severity (severe LP, 58.6%, p < 0.001, OR 7.79), and duration of the disease (≥6 months, 55.5%, p 0.001, OR 5.42). 71% of Metabolic Syndrome was observed in females (p 0.847). Among patients with metabolic syndrome, the majority belonged to the age group between 31 and 40 years (37.5%, p 0.378). Systolic and Diastolic Blood Pressure values (≥130/85 mm of Hg), Serum Triglycerides (≥150 mg/dl), and Low-Density Lipoprotein (>130 mg/dl) were significantly elevated, and High-Density Lipoprotein (<40 mg/dl) was significantly low in LP than in controls (p < 0.05). Conclusion: The study showed a significant association of Metabolic Syndrome in patients with LP. Thus, patients with LP need to be screened to avoid complications associated with Metabolic Syndrome that is, Diabetes Mellitus, Cardiovascular Disease, colorectal cancer, and stroke.

BACKGROUND: Literacy is an important factor that predicts cognitive performance. Existing cognitive screening tools are validated only in educated populations and are not appropriate for older adults with little or no education leading to poor performance on these tests and eventually leading to misdiagnosis. This challenge for clinicians necessitates a screening tool suitable for illiterate or low-literate older individuals. OBJECTIVES: The objective was to adapt and validate Addenbrooke's Cognitive Examination-III (ACE-III) for screening general cognitive functions in illiterate and low-literate older populations in the Indian context in three languages. METHOD: The Indian illiterate ACE-III was systematically adapted by modifying the original items of the Indian literate ACE-III to assess the cognitive functions of illiterates and low-literates with the consensus of an expert panel of professionals working in the area of dementia and related disorders. A total of 180 illiterate or low-literate participants (84 healthy-controls, 50 with dementia, and 46 with mild cognitive impairment [MCI]) were recruited from three different centers speaking Bengali, Hindi, and Kannada to validate the adapted version. RESULTS: The optimal cut-off score for illiterate ACE-III to distinguish controls from dementia in all 3 languages was 75. The optimal cut-off scores in distinguishing between controls and MCI ranged from 79 to 82, with a sensitivity ranging from 93% to 99% and a specificity ranging from 72% to 99%. CONCLUSION: The test is found to have good psychometric properties and is a reliable cognitive screening tool for identifying dementia and MCI in older adults with low educational backgrounds in the Indian context.

Neurological disorders and psychiatric ailments often lead to cognitive disabilities and low attainment of education, pivoting misconceptions, myths, and misbeliefs. Poverty and low educational attainment are intriguingly associated with poor awareness and perception of these diseases that add to the suffering. Poverty goes parallel with a low level of education and is intricately associated with neuropsychiatric ailments, which have the potential to spread transgenerationally. Robust education policies, proper government rules and regulations against the spread of disease-related myths and misconceptions, uplifting medical education in its true sense, voices against consanguinity, and programs to raise scientific perception about diseases can help to throw light at the end of this dark tunnel. In this article, the authors intend to 1) decipher the potential psychosocial basis of human suffering and poverty in patients with neurological and psychiatric disorders, and 2) discuss the apropos way-outs that would potentially mitigate suffering, and alleviate the economic burden and cognitive disabilities of families with neuropsychiatric diseases.

NGS allows for the rapid sequencing of millions of DNA fragments simultaneously, providing comprehensive insights into genome structure, genetic variations, gene expression profiles, and epigenetic modifications. The versatility of NGS platforms has expanded the scope of genomics research, facilitating studies on rare genetic diseases, cancer genomics, microbiome analysis, infectious diseases, and population genetics. Moreover, NGS has enabled the development of targeted therapies, precision medicine approaches, and improved diagnostic methods. This review provides an insightful overview of the current trends and recent advancements in NGS technology, highlighting its potential impact on diverse areas of genomic research. Moreover, the review delves into the challenges encountered and future directions of NGS technology, including endeavors to enhance the accuracy and sensitivity of sequencing data, the development of novel algorithms for data analysis, and the pursuit of more efficient, scalable, and cost-effective solutions that lie ahead.

Background The vertebral arteries (VA) nourish the posterior cerebral circulation. Planning neck and cervical interventions like drilling and instrumentation, which involves VA manipulation, require an in-depth acquaintance with the normal and variant patterns encountered in the origin and course of the VA. Embryological events involved in forming these variant patterns can be correlated to their prior disposition in the lower vertebrate's understanding which becomes crucial while planning cervical interventions.  Study design This is a single-center, retrospective study.  Materials and methods The study involved 70 patients of both sexes and was done from September 2021 to February 2022 in the Department of Radiodiagnosis and Imaging at North Eastern Indira Gandhi Regional Institute of Health and Medical Sciences (NEIGRIHMS), Meghalaya, India. The CT angiographies were studied for variations of VA under V1 - from origin to entrance into the foramen transversarium (FT), V2 - part inside FT, V3 - from its exit from FT till it pierces the cranial dura mater, and V4 - intracranial part. Further, VA was observed for its origin, dominance, level of entry in FT, and any associated anomalies.  Results The VA was found mostly to be codominant. There was an opposite directional relationship between the basilar artery curvature and the dominance of VA. The association of ischemic events with hypoplastic VA was more on the left side (66.67%). Left VA originated from the aorta in 4.3% of subjects. One case presented a dual origin of VA. The abnormal origin of the LVA from the aorta showed a higher rate of abnormal entry into FT which was also found to be statistically significant.  Conclusion Our study identifies and documents the anatomical variations present in VA specific to the population of northeast India by CT angiography and thus provides a much-needed reference for the healthcare professionals working in the field of Head and Neck interventions by providing opportunities further to understand these patterns for better diagnostic and therapeutic outcomes.

OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the role of high-resolution intracranial vessel wall imaging (HR-IVWI) in differentiation of various intracranial vasculopathies in addition to luminal and clinical imaging in the largest cohort of Indian stroke patients. METHODS: A single-center, cross-sectional study was undertaken recruiting consecutive stroke or TIA patients presenting within a month of onset, with luminal irregularity/narrowing upstream from the stroke territory. The patients were initially classified into TOAST and Chinese ischemic stroke sub-classification (CISS) on the basis of clinical and luminal characteristics and reclassified again following incorporation of HR-IVWI findings. RESULTS: In our cohort of 150 patients, additional use of HR-IVWI led to a 10.7 and 14% change in initial TOAST and CISS classification respectively (p < 0.001). In TOAST classification, 12 "undetermined aetiology" were reclassified into intracranial atherosclerotic disease (ICAD), 1 "undetermined aetiology" into CNS angiitis and 1 "undetermined aetiology" into arterial dissection. Similarly, in CISS 19 "undetermined aetiology" was reclassified into 16 large artery atherosclerosis (LAA) and 3 "other aetiology" consisting of one CNS angiitis, Moyamoya disease (MMD) and arterial dissection each. Two initial classification of MMD by CISS and TOAST were changed into ICAD. The observed change in diagnosis following incorporation of HR-IVWI was proportionately highest in ICAD (LAA) subgroup (TOAST-9.3%, CISS-12%). CONCLUSION: Adjunctive use of HR-IVWI, to clinical and luminal assessment, can significantly improve diagnostic accuracy during evaluation of intracranial vasculopathies, with its greatest utility in diagnosing in ICAD, CNS angiitis and dissection. ADVANCES IN KNOWLEDGE: HR-IVWI allows clearer etiological distinction of intracranial vasculopathies having therapeutic and prognostic implications.

Background: Cognitive postscripts of COVID-19, codenamed as 'cognitive COVID' or 'brain fog,' characterized by multidomain cognitive impairments, are now being reckoned as the most devastating sequelae of COVID-19. However, the impact on the already demented brain has not been studied. Objective: We aimed to assess the cognitive functioning and neuroimaging following SARS-CoV-2 infection in patients with pre-existing dementia. Methods: Fourteen COVID-19 survivors with pre-existing dementia (four with Alzheimer's disease, five with vascular dementia, three with Parkinson's disease dementia, and two with the behavioral variant of frontotemporal dementia) were recruited. All these patients had detailed cognitive and neuroimaging evaluations within three months before suffering from COVID-19 and one year later. Results: Of the 14 patients, ten required hospitalization. All developed or increased white matter hyperintensities that mimicked multiple sclerosis and small vessel disease. There was a significant increase in fatigue (p = 0.001) and depression (p = 0.016) scores following COVID-19. The mean Frontal Assessment Battery (p < 0.001) and Addenbrooke's Cognitive Examination (p = 0.001) scores also significantly worsened. Conclusion: The rapid progression of dementia, the addition of further impairments/deterioration of cognitive abilities, and the increase or new appearance of white matter lesion burden suggest that previously compromised brains have little defense to withstand a new insult (i.e., 'second hit' like infection/dysregulated immune response, and inflammation). 'Brain fog' is an ambiguous terminology without specific attribution to the spectrum of post-COVID-19 cognitive sequelae. We propose a new codename, i.e. 'FADE-IN MEMORY' (i.e., Fatigue, decreased Fluency, Attention deficit, Depression, Executive dysfunction, slowed INformation processing speed, and subcortical MEMORY impairment).

Dementia of vascular origin is a distinct variety with a heterogeneous neuropsychological profile. Very few studies have compared the behavioral dysfunction in the large vessel and small vessel vascular dementia (VaD) and studied the association between executive dysfunction and behavioral dysfunction documented in these patients, between the white matter load in small vessel disease (SVD) and the behavioral dysfunction. 76 patients having a modified Hachinski Ischemic Scale score of ≥ 4 were recruited and categorized into a small vessel and large vessel VaD. The Neuropsychiatric Inventory (NPI) score ≥ 4 per domain for defining clinically relevant symptoms and the Clinical Dementia Rating Scale (CDR) for evaluating the severity of dementia were used. Behavioral and Psychological Symptoms of Dementia (BPSD) were present in 66.67% of patients with SVD and 53.57% of those having large vessel disease. Apathy, euphoria, and disinhibition were more common in SVD, while appetite alterations were more common in large vessel disease. Behavioral dysfunction was also associated with executive dysfunction in both the VaD subtypes and with white matter loads in SVD. We conclude that different VaD subtypes have different behavioral profiles. This might help in understanding the underlying pathophysiology, diagnosis and thus better management of this disorder.

Background and Aims: Intra-articular steroids provide significant pain relief in sacroiliac joint pain (SIJP), but their action is short-lived. Cryoneurolysis is reported to produce prolonged pain relief in various pain conditions. However, its efficacy has not been evaluated in patients with SIJP. Thus, we compared the efficacy of cryoneurolysis with steroid injections in adult patients with SIJP. Methods: This retrospective healthcare records review-based study involved 83 patients with SIJP. Patients were divided into two groups: cases (sacroiliac joint [SIJ] cryoneurolysis, n = 39) and controls (SIJ steroid injection, n = 44). An 11-point numeric pain rating scale (NPRS) was used to assess the pain severity at baseline and immediately, 1, 3 and 6 months post-intervention. A reduction of ≥50% in NPRS score immediately following SIJ cryoneurolysis and steroid injection was considered a successful outcome. The difference between the treatment groups was assessed with a Chi-square test, and P < 0.05 was considered statistically significant. Results: Both cases and controls showed significantly decreased NPRS scores from baseline to immediately, 1 month, 3 months and 6 months postintervention (P < 0.001). However, compared to controls, cases had significantly lower NPRS scores at all time points (all P < 0.001). Moreover, a significantly greater proportion of cases had ≥50% decrease in NPRS score from baseline, that is, 1 month (97.44% vs. 75%, P = 0.004), 3 months (100% vs. 47.73%, P < 0.001) and 6 months (69.23% vs. 27.27%, P < 0.001). Conclusion: Although both cryoneurolysis and intra-articular steroid injections provide significant pain relief immediately, 1, 3 and 6 months postintervention, cryoneurolysis resulted in significantly greater pain relief.

Objectives: This study sought to analyze the outpatient parenteral antimicrobial therapy (OPAT) services provided by a tertiary hospital, in terms of types and duration of antimicrobials administered, and assess whether these services were in line with current good practice recommendations. Methods: The electronic healthcare records of all stable patients with infectious diseases, aged ≥ 18 years, who received OPAT services between January 2019 and March 2021, were analyzed. For statistical analysis, the patients were divided into younger (< 65 years) and older (≥ 65 years) adults and the difference between them, in terms of healthcare resources utilization, was assessed. Results: Over 27 months, 199 patients received OPAT services, resulting in saving of 7514 bed-days. Bone and joint infections (38.7%) were the predominant diagnoses. The median actual OPAT duration was significantly greater than the planned duration for the total study population, younger adults, and older adults (p < 0.050). Of 28 (14.1%) patients with adverse events, 25 were related to antimicrobials while the remaining three were associated with catheters. There were no significant differences between younger and older adults in the characteristics evaluated, except for the higher incidence of Staphylococcus aureus (p < 0.001) and Escherichia coli, Staphylococcal spp., Streptococcal spp., and Pseudomonas spp. (p =0.003) infection in older adults. Conclusions: The actual median duration of OPAT therapy was significantly longer than planned, with suboptimal adherence to the principles of antimicrobial stewardship. OPAT has been shown to be safe for both younger and older adults.

Introduction: Myelitis is the least common neuropsychiatric manifestation in systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE). Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI)-negative myelitis is even rarer. Here, we present the largest cohort of MRI-negative lupus myelitis cases to assess their clinical and immunological profiles and outcome. Method: A single-center, observational study conducted over a period of 5 years (2017-2021) was undertaken to evaluate patients with MRI-negative lupus myelitis for the epidemiological, clinical, immunological, and radiological features at baseline and followed up at monthly intervals for a year, and the outcomes were documented. Among the 22 patients that presented with MRI-negative myelopathy (clinical features suggestive of myelopathy without signal changes on spinal-cord MRI [3Tesla], performed serially at the time of presentation and 7 days, 6 weeks, and 3 months after the onset of symptoms), 8 patients had SLE and were included as the study population. Results: In 8 of 22 patients presenting with MRI-negative myelopathy, the etiology was SLE. MRI-negative lupus myelitis had a female preponderance (male: female ratio, 1:7). Mean age at onset of myelopathy was 30.0 ± 8.93 years, reaching nadir at 4.9 ± 4.39 weeks (Median, 3.0; range, 1.25-9.75). Clinically, cervical cord involvement was observed in 75% of patients, and 62.5% had selective tract involvement. The mean double stranded deoxyribonucleic acid, C3, and C4 titers at onset of myelopathy were 376.0 ± 342.88 IU/ml (median, 247.0), 46.1 ± 17.98 mg/dL (median, 47.5), and 7.3 ± 3.55 mg/dL (median, 9.0), respectively, with high SLE disease activity index 2,000 score of 20.6 ± 5.9. Anti-ribosomal P protein, anti-Smith antibody, and anti-ribonuclear protein positivity was observed in 87.5, 75, and 75% of the patients, respectively. On follow-up, improvement of myelopathic features with no or minimal deficit was observed in 5 of the 8 patients (62.5%). None of the patients had recurrence or new neurological deficit over 1-year follow-up. Conclusion: Persistently "MRI-negative" lupus myelitis presents with white matter dysfunction, often with selective tract involvement, in light of high disease activity, which follows a monophasic course with good responsiveness to immunosuppressive therapy. A meticulous clinical evaluation and a low index of suspicion can greatly aid in the diagnosis of this rare clinical condition in lupus.

A nanofiber mat of styrene-co-vinylbenzyl chloride-co-acrylonitrile copolymer as an anion exchange membrane (AEM) was synthesized via the electrospinning of organic reaction mixtures. The synthesized membranes were characterized using FT-IR spectroscopy for structural analysis. The AEM demonstrated a high ionic conductivity mainly due to the phase segregation in the membrane structure, as analyzed by transmission electron microscopy (TEM). The membrane properties such as water uptake, swelling ratio, and ion exchange capacity, as well as ionic conductivity, varied with the chemical composition. With the molar ratio of styrene, vinylbenzyl chloride, and acrylonitrile at 3:5:2, the highest ionic conductivity of 0.214 S cm-1 at 80 °C was observed. Additionally, the AEM retained 94% of original conductivity after 72 h of soaking in 1 M KOH solution.

OBJECTIVE: Bengali, the 6th most spoken language globally with 268 million speakers, demands a culturally appropriate tool for screening any cognitive compromise in this population. Addenbrooke Cognitive Examination-III (ACE-III) is a standardized tool used for screening and/or diagnostic purpose worldwide. The aim of the present study was to adapt and validate ACE-III into Bengali language. METHODS: The ACE-III UK Version A (2012) was adapted with linguistically and culturally appropriate items and validated on Bengali speakers. The participants consisted of 40 dementia and 22 Mild Cognitive Impairment (MCI) patients and 120 healthy-controls. Reliability and validity were examined. Discriminant function analysis was done. Sensitivity and specificity were evaluated and optimum cut-offs were established for MCI and dementia. RESULTS: Both sensitivity and specificity of ACE-III-Bengali of identifying dementia was 1; sensitivity for MCI ranged from 0.83 to 1, specificity from 0.76 to 1. Epigenetics, hypothalamic-pituitary axes, environmental and metabolic influences, and transgenerational plasticity govern social behavior. Cognitive research considers the brain's default mode network (DMN) as a central hub that integrates various cognitive and social processing domains responsible for emotion perception, empathy, theory of mind, and morality. Hence, DMN is regarded as the "social brain." Upsurge in social turmoil, social anxiety, panic, depression, post-traumatic stress, hoarding, herd behavior, substance and behavioral addictions, sexual abuse, and violence in the time of the COVID-19 pandemic are intricately related to personality traits resulting in disruptive social cognition and social behavior, conceptualized as the result of unsettling and disruption of the functional nexus of the DMN. Considering overt and conspicuous display of neuroticism during the current pandemic, its impact upon modulation of the DMN functional nexus and the DMN itself, and the potential to presage cognitive impairment in the future, the authors caution that an increase in the global burden of dementia may be one of the long-term ramifications of COVID-19. Social behavior, a functional derivative of the DMN, can strikingly affect the functional nexus of DMN and the DMN itself, in a centripetal way via the phenomenon called "Experience-Dependent Plasticity," with long-term consequences. In this review, we intend to 1) decipher the association between social cognition and social behavior with the DMN, in time of COVID-19; and to 2) discuss the prospective aftermath of disrupted social behavior during the pandemic on modulation/alteration of functional connectomes of DMN or the DMN itself in the time ahead.

The fuel cell industry is the most promising industry in terms of the advancement of clean and safe technologies for sustainable energy generation. The polymer electrolyte membrane fuel cell is divided into two parts: anion exchange membrane fuel cells (AEMFCs) and proton exchange membrane fuel cells (PEMFCs). In the case of PEMFCs, high-power density was secured and research and development for commercialization have made significant progress. However, there are technical limitations and high-cost issues for the use of precious metal catalysts including Pt, the durability of catalysts, bipolar plates, and membranes, and the use of hydrogen to ensure system stability. On the contrary, AEMFCs have been used as low-platinum or non-platinum catalysts and have a low activation energy of oxygen reduction reaction, so many studies have been conducted to find alternatives to overcome the problems of PEMFCs in the last decade. At the core of ensuring the power density of AEMFCs is the anion exchange membrane (AEM) which is less durable and less conductive than the cation exchange membrane. AEMFCs are a promising technology that can solve the high-cost problem of PEMFCs that have reached technological saturation and overcome technical limitations. This review focuses on the various aspects of AEMs for AEMFCs application.

Introduction The stature of an individual is an important parameter for establishing identification. The height of an individual can be indirectly estimated from different parts of the skeleton and such measurements are of great use in forensic science, anatomy, and anthropometry. This study was an attempt to formulate a linear regression equation for estimation of stature by measuring the ulnar length in the living adult Khasi population. Methods The study population consists of 164 subjects (Male: 118; Female: 46) between 25 and 45 years of age. The left and right ulnar lengths were measured from the tip of the olecranon process to the tip of the styloid process with the elbow flexed and palm spread over the opposite shoulder by a spreading caliper. The measurements of the stature of the volunteers were done in the standard anatomical standing position with a bared foot with the head in the Frankfort plane. The documented data were calculated by the standard statistical software. Results The height and ulnar length in males (160.85 ± 6.34 cm and 24.41 ± 1.10 cm, respectively) were found to be significantly (p < 0.001) higher than females (149.56 ± 2.95 cm and 22.58 ± 0.47 cm, respectively). Significant positive correlation coefficient (r) between height (cm) and ulnar length (cm) were observed in both males (r = 0.955, P < 0.001) and females (r = 0.915, P < 0.001), respectively. Conclusion The length of the ulna provides an accurate and reliable means in estimating the height of an individual; being almost a percutaneous bone, its length can be measured easily. The regression formulae that were derived in this study will be useful for clinicians, human anatomists, archeologists, anthropologists, and forensic experts.

The elderly population is a sensitive and delicate cohort of society who is being compelled to bear the significant smoulders of disruptive social behavior of humankind amidst the COVID-19 pandemic. Our aim for this review was (1) to find out the root of disruption of societal integrity and self-centeredness by analyzing the spokes of HEXACO; (2) to delineate their possible relationships with the formation of Neuroticism and eventually Psychopathy, which have endangered human civilization the most in this pandemic; and (3) to search for the potential ways to get rid of these dark times. The constellation of different negative human behaviors probably originate from the negative deflection of components of the HEXACO model of personality towards the genesis of the dark triad. COVID-19 pandemic and upsurge of the dark triad in the form of Neuroticism, Narcissism and Machiavellianism potentially portend major mental health threats. Cultivation and practice of positive emotions and triumph of honesty, humility and humanity are imperative to save the mankind from the savagery of this pandemic.

A free-standing catalyst electrode for the urea oxidation reaction (UOR) and hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) in a urea electrolysis cell was synthesized by electroplating a Ni-Fe alloy onto carbon felt, followed by phosphidation (P-NiFe@CF). The prepared P-NiFe@CF catalyst consisted of Ni5P4, NiP2, and FeP with 3D flower-like P-NiFe architecture on CF. P-NiFe@CF exhibited excellent electrocatalytic activity for the UOR (demanding only 1.39 V (vs. RHE) to achieve 200 mA cm-2), and for the HER with a low overpotential of 0.023 V (vs. RHE) at 10 mA cm-2, indicating its feasibility as a bifunctional catalyst electrode for urea electrolysis. A urea electrolysis cell with P-NiFe@CF as both the free-standing anode and cathode generated a current density of 10 mA cm-2 at a cell potential of 1.37 V (vs. RHE), which is considerably lower than that of water electrolysis, and also lower than previously reported values. The results indicate that the P-NiFe@CF catalyst electrodes can be used as free-standing bifunctional electrodes for urea electrolyzers.
